honestly i could have been ok with the sequels if they were just bad, but they actually managed to do worse by ruining the original trilogy by completely ruining Vaders sacrifice
@@randomcontentguy2521 honestly the last Jedi isn't that bad. It has it's problem but it didn't destroy my childhood and if we're being honest it didn't destroy anyone's either
The Mandalorian has proved that we don’t need the main character to be a Jedi or even force sensitive; we just want GOOD STORIES and good filmmaking. Finn should have been the main protagonist of the new trilogy. A storm trooper discovers himself to be force sensitive, goes rogue, maybe Phasma was his commanding officer/personally knew him and the betrayal feels even more personal and make Phasma an unrelenting force trying to bring him in...the story is all there man. Hell, maybe Rey’s “history” being a mystery could have been a sub plot and Finn helps her (like how Mando helps Grogu). Idk it just feels like Finn is so much more a compelling character.
OMG PD!!! and yes totally agree. people forget star wars is not all about the pew pew lightsaber go woosh. those things are COOL and build the world, no doubt. but the stories and characters who are relatable make it whole - and their narratives intertwine to create a bigger picture, a critique of society.
The reason that actually happened is cuz they exploited his race for box office numbers and money. The trailers made everyone want to watch. And they got money. John Boyega (actor for Finn) even confirmed that Lucasfilm did this.
Just like general grevious he was bad ass in the cartoon Cartoon Network but on screen he was weak as fuck just running away movie trash cartoons bad ass
Memorable Finn lines that have nothing to do with me: - "Because it's the right thing to do." - "Let's go, chrome dome." - "Rebel scum." - "Come get it. Aaaaahhhhh!!!" - "That's for dant sure." - "I feel it." - "It's Ren." - "We'll use the force." - "I'm in charge now." - "What would we do with her?" - “Lando, you did it! YOU DID IT!!!” - "The force brought me here...and Poe." Unpopular opinion: Finn is the main character in "The Force Awakens" whereas I am the main character in "The Last Jedi" and "The Rise of Skywalker."
I feel like a child slave forced into being a stormtrooper but realizing he's force sensitive and becomes a jedi and takes down the new empire is a better story than what we got
It just makes me so sad and mad how they threw his character away. I was so hoping Finn would become a Jedi. And this just cements my thoughts it could've been done
I feel like they aren't throwing him away in the trash, but more like throwing him into his own trilogy. I REALLY hope finn gets his own Movie/Series/cartoon ANYTHING will work for me but I hope 3 movies will make up for the loss of character development especially since they decided not to let finn tell Rey that he was force sensitive.
@@xZyleux nothing against girls, but finn was a way better character than Rey imo. Kathleen kennedy made Rey incredibly powerful with no training, experience, or character development. If Jon Faverau and Dave Filing(mando directors) had directed the sequels they would've been way better, and still could've been with a girl. For example, Cara Dune.
So I see comments saying "Wasted Potential" and such. Let me say, you are entirely correct. Finns actor, I forgot his name, actually threatened Disney recently, saying something along the lines of *"If my character get shafted one more time, im not returning as Finn."* He was incredibly upset with how he was pushed to a side character. He deserves more then what he got.
@@djc5165 I, as many others agree. If he’d been the Jedi that took Grogu, that would’ve been the absolute, most amazing thing. Would’ve opened up SO MUCH for a story in between the events of the last SW and Mando.

In the first movie I kinda hope that he'll at least be a side jedi character, because he at least used luke's lightsaber to fight kylo, and from that I realized that he has potential to become a jedi, and USUALLY they wouldn't waste such character But then the 2nd movie is focusing more on Rey and they also waste Luke which is a very disappointing But I gave it a benefit of a doubt and maybe in the 3rd film AT LEAST Finn would use his force power in a noticeable way, but then THEY DON'T EVEN GAVE HIM A CHANCE TO TOLD REY THAT HE'S FORCE SENSITIVE
I think Rey being a Palpetine ruins the whole thing. That both ruins Vader’s sacrifice at the end of the Return of the Jedi, and also, prior to that it was showing that you could be a Jedi without Jedi parents, but nooooooo
I’m disappointed that they didn’t even say that he was force sensitive in 9. He doesn’t have to be able to lift stuff but the fact he could sense stuff like Leia did in the OG is a very nice detail.
I mean, they didn't say that Leia was force sensitive in the original trilogy, yet she was implied to be. I think the level of force sensitivity he shows is sufficient; his character is just underdeveloped in other regards.
Not every Jedi is force sensitive enough to easily lift stuff with their minds. Some of them straight up can’t or can only do it through a lot of training because their m-count is lower
The last scene is literally not only proof it’s just a fact now you can tell because you see everybody in the background acting all confused but just like how Yoda Sensed all the Jedi dying in order 66 he felt Rey die after A lot of people seen this comment I want to say that this is my opinion and all of you are entitled to your opinion
Dare i say, i wish he had died in Last Jedi. His sacrifice to save the resistence would have resonated throughout the galaxy and further motivated the others to fight on. So much wasted potential.
It’s so beautiful to me to imagine a force sensitive stormtrooper, one who broke free of the indoctrination. He finds Luke and we see training from a true master. Not a weird hermit... he grows and eventually crafts his own lightsaber, a symbol he’s ready to take on more responsibility. What color would it be? I keep saying green.
"Hey boss, we wrote this uh 'finn' character with the really cool switching sides backstory like you asked for, and put a bunch of hints/moments that he's force sensitive in the movie. Also we're teasing the hell out of him with the lightsaber (7's poster, trailer(s)) like you asked, do you want me to start on the bit where he turns into some sort of jedi or has an arc or builds/finds a loghtsaber or something?" "No. We'll just have him yell the girl's name over and over until the audience gets annoyed that he's there, that'll teach them for liking a boy character."

I feel like Finn is like the John Snow of Star Wars sequels, he started so great with a good idea and backstory (much more interesting than Rey's, that was made up as the films were made), and became a side character for the empty protagonist: MY QUEEN = REEEEEEEEEEYYY

How to fix sequels Finn=Main Character, trying to learn the force Rey=goes on journey to find parents but joins the rebellion as a mechanic or pilot Poe=He’s perfectly fine My opinion
I like the sequels, but it's ok. Also, in my opinion, in episode 9 Rey should have gave Luke's (or Anakin's) lightsaber to Finn, i think he deserve it.
I would of actually preferred Rey to go down the dark path what was hinted by the way she fights with emotion.., she then strikes down kylo further descending.. And Finn is the jedi fighting to bring her back. Edited:strikes not stroked. Also.. Damn I just came bk to this I didn't know I got 70 thumbs up. Thanks alot guys. I really thought that this was supposed be the whole plot.. But nope.
Honestly I can't hear the Force theme in the beginning of the video at all and Kylo noticed him because of the blood on his helmet and rather sensed his unusual, for a stormtrooper, amount of fear.
@@voitteq your telling me the same Kylo Ren who lost to Rey noticed finn's blood on his helmet through his mask just out the corner of his eye stopped to look at said marking then walk away? Doesn't it make more sense Kylo sense the force start to break Finns brainwashing but kylo then immediately disregards the fact a simple lowly trooper cannot be a force user like the great Kylo Ren?
I kinda agree, I was excited about Rey in the first movie but Finn strikes me as more of a new main character. Their genders could even be switched and for Rey it is “oh look it’s Aniken but he never met obi-wan” but Finn is new and interesting. The main problem with the movies is they have the plot planning of fan fiction
I would have loved to see Finn as a jedi or on his way to become one. Imagine Finn and Rey are searching for Luke because they want to learn the ways of the jedi, Finn is very committed and tries really hard. Then you start to see that Rey has dark side tendencies and she has the force dyad with Ren… maybe she even turns and helps Ren, and in the end Finn has to battle Ren and Rey. And of course Luke would be the legendary Jedi he really is. No returning Palpatine and no absurd Snoke, only Kylo Ren as the villain.

I was 15 when the Force Awakens came out. My dad and me talked about the trailer for 30 minutes. About how excited we were and how cool it all looked. Towards the end of that conversation I talked about how cool it was that the main character and force user was gonna be a black guy (someone who would look like me and represent me in the series). My father looked me dead in my eyes and said, "a black man will never be the main character of a franchise like Star Wars." I was really sad when he turned out to be right at least that time.
@@lastdefenderofxhotl blame it on China. Disney decided to dim down his role in the later movies because the CCP doesn’t like black people. And Disney makes a lot of money in China so you know.
Did you know that episode 9 was written completely different? Many things were changed for the final release. Examples of this cut content include Luke sky walker constantly appearing to harass Kylo ren about being a sky walker, Rey gets a double bladed lightsaber, and kylo gets a dope mandolorian esque helmet. In Finns case, he would’ve gotten captured and forced to work in a first order labor camp, but then he sparks an uprising and him and his fellow prisoners take back the base. This would’ve been a great character moment for Finn. These were all written by Colin trevorrow, however Disney fired him due to “creative differences”
They had the perfect set-up for a new story that expands on the lore. Instead, they rehashed _A New Hope_ to play it safe, had no plan as they bounced between directors with their own separate visions, and used a bunch of fanservice in the end to try and get some positive reactions. We could have had Finn being force sensitive be the reason he defected. All the other Stormtroopers would have been brainwashed (basically to be like the Clones, but with no individuality). They even had point concept of no identity in the scene where it's established that the troopers aren't allowed to remove their helmets (I assume unless they're in their personal quarters or eating). Then Finn would struggle with facing off against his fellow Stormtroopers because he understands none of them had a choice. Instead, Finn just defected and had no problem killing his fellow Stormtroopers, all of them seem to have the potential to defect (which makes the killing worse), they just threw in that other Troopers were defecting in the last movie without going anywhere with it, etc.
What makes it even worse it that the movie makes it look like finn is having fun killing the stormtroopers shouting "wooo" or "YEAH" in the middle of lethal combat with them
@@destroyallbacteriad.a.b9007 And when he discovers that other Stormtroopers have defected ever since he left, he still has absolutely no problems destroying the giant ships with thousands of people inside. @@halo4xgamer Thank you! People trash TFA for being a rehash, but that was sort of the point. It's a love letter to A New Hope, a sendup of the original designed to be easy for new and old fans to get into, while also doing a bit to set up its own characters and provide a platform to jump off in it's own direction for 8 and 9. Then Rian Johnson bungled it by throwing away all of that in favor of his bad ideas, damaging it so badly that the only way they could think to save it was making ROS a brainless series of action set pieces coupled with the worst possible reveal. What kills me is some of TLJ's ideas could have worked - subverting the "I am your father" thing by making Rey a literal nobody was IMO the smartest move possible; humanizing Luke by letting him keep flaws we see in ROJ and Empire, etc. On their own these could make for compelling storytelling. It's just too bad Rian Johnson is a hack fraud with no idea what to do with Star Wars.
I didn't look at it as being a rehash. The prequels mimicked the original trilogy, so i saw The Force Awakens as following a similar formula. But I can see why People thought it was a rehash
What I personally would have liked was Finn to be the main character, have his journey from stormtrooper to defecting to becoming a Jedi. Rey could have still been there but just as a side character that could do cool stuff but never really taking the lead.
It would have been better if they added Mara Jade (Luke's wife in the comic) and have Kylo Ren as their son become the villain while Finn undergo a transformation from a stormtrooper into a Jedi and Rey becomes a Sith because of her bloodline connected to Palpatine. Kylo would have been manipulated by Snoke into thinking his father was hiding some secrets away from him for power and etc. Not like Luke holding his lightsaber on Kylo like TLJ. Once he killed Mara and Luke, he will regret his mistake and turns back into the light. And since Rey is the main villain, the series goes on. They could have made more episodes and movies if they had followed the comic.
You missed one In TLJ, Phasma refers to Finn as “a bug in the system” (ie: an irregular oversight), hinting that he’s not like the other troopers that were under her command. I really hope he gets some kind of series in the future, since Boyega deserves more spotlight for the character
Just imagine him popping up on Mandalore looking for Din Djarin or some house of Kryze descendant while being led by Luke’s force projections in order for him to piece everything together and discover Grogu
That would be cool as f.. Both would grief that rey had died..Finn may understand Ben is misguided and redeemed..it would be awsome to see them training..
It was literally played out like avengers endgame when iron man died I am all of the sith=I am inevitable I am all of the Jedi=I am iron man Like even the poster looked similar to endgame’s
Just reading the title already made me sad. *Sigh.* Right from the first time I saw The Force Awakens, I speculated that they were setting up Finn as a potential Jedi. The three main characters, Rey, Finn, and Poe, took on similar roles to Luke, Leia, and Han respectively. As the stand-in for that Leia archetype, Finn would thus be the Force-sensitive hero not being set up as the "chosen one," but capable of becoming one if need arose. But then the trilogy nosedived instead. They could have done so much more with Finn's character, and yes, with his implied Force sensitivity. I mean, off the top of my head, I can think of at least a half-dozen better directions they could have taken with Finn: - After losing his battle with Kylo Ren, Finn wakes up, recognizes his Force sensitivity, and begins Jedi training with Leia, at the same time that Rey begins training with Luke. Finn and Rey develop different fighting styles and philosophies about the Force, but they learn to work together effectively. - Finn and Rey both train under Luke together, and unintentionally become rivals. Maybe Rey still turns out to be a Force prodigy, and Finn is at first upset that he is struggling to use the Force more than she is. It could lead to good tension and character growth between them. Partway through the movie, Luke might explain that Finn has been psychologically damaged by his stormtrooper indoctrination, and he will need to work even harder to overcome his own obstacles. Luke could actually be a GOOD master, and much like Yoda before him, he could teach character-building lessons about how to change Finn's mindsets and become better at using the Force. Maybe later on, in a critical situation, Finn gives much-needed assistance to Rey, and they succeed only with each other's help. (And in this scenario, Finn wouldn't have to become Rey's superior, or even her equal, if Disney still wanted to push a female lead character who is clearly the leader. It would still be interesting to watch.) - Either Finn or Rey are in real danger of turning to the Dark side and allying with Kylo Ren. Or maybe one of them full-out joins Ren and the First Order. One protagonist has to help the other to resist the call to darkness, and succeeds by the strength of their loving bond (platonic or otherwise). - Finn doesn't train as a Jedi, Sith, or any type of Force user, but his Force sensitivity continues to be useful. Kind of like what we did see in the trilogy, but better accentuated. It could even manifest similarly to Leia's unusually good intuition, or Han's insane amount of luck - some fans have interpreted that "luck" as evidence that the Force protects Han Solo unusually much. - Finn does run away from the Resistance and First Order after all, and he goes rogue. But by some method or another, he learns to use the Force, maybe becoming what we often call a "grey Jedi," neither allied with the Light or Dark side of the Force exclusively. He becomes a sort of wild card, and it's uncertain who he will help in the fight. - If we wanted to be really daring... Rey goes missing, and is gone for part of the trilogy. Maybe she even sacrifices herself and dies a heroic death. As a result, Finn has to take up the mantle of the next Jedi in her place. He could feel inadequate to the task, and he may be grieving the loss of his friend (or paramour?) Rey. As a result, he would be vulnerable to falling to the Dark side, making it very tense for the audience to wait and see what Finn will do. *Sigh.* Whatever. These are essentially just fanfictions now. Rest in peace, Star Wars canon.
People say fanfiction is cringe, You could say I find their lack of faith disturbing.. You make alot of sense! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, Personally I'd have liked to see this!

I feel like Rey and Finn should’ve been Jedi’s and it make sense because Kylo is skilled compared to them. And it should take two Jedi to fight him. Also at the end of ROTS they could’ve had Rey, Finn, and Kylo fighting palpatine because palpatine is like the most powerful with so it would take multiple Jedi to kill him.
Everyone saying Finn has no character development... he actually has the most, next to Ben Solo. A very strong hint was his fight with Kylie at the end of Force Awakens. He lost the fight, but held his own longer than an average person would imo. There was also an underlying theme in The Last Jedi that anyone could be force sensitive not just people from particular blood lines.
Or maybe Finn really was just an average joe during that fight, and Kylo Ren was just really bad. Ren either sucked at dueling, or he was an excellent duelist and just wasn't bringing his a-game to that fight (probably because he got shot a few minutes ago.)

The problem with his arc in the last Jedi is that any serious intentions with him were killed in that film, He was turned into the comedy punch line by a character who wasn't even in the first movie. Finn also acted like a coward in the beginning of the film who wants to flee with Rey but he was supposed to have conquered his fear of the first order by the end of the force awakens when he tried to take on Kylo Ren. That's why his arc in the last Jedi sucks. Ryan clearly made it clear that Finn wasn't going to be a Jedi in the Last Jedi so he could have had Finn sacrifice himself to at least give some respect to his character and give Rey something to mourn and improve her character development, but Johnson couldn't even let Finn have that.

He woulda madd a cool jedi. An interesting backstory much more than Rey. Instead again we get someone poor and from a desert. How original
No confliction whatsoever.

I actually think TFA was a great introduction to the new story and characters. It's too bad the future movies didn't follow up on it.

I just wish they removed Rey entirely. The Finn arc would have honestly made for a genuinely great plot

I mean, off the top of my head, I can think of at least a half-dozen better directions they could have taken with Finn:
- After losing his battle with Kylo Ren, Finn wakes up, recognizes his Force sensitivity, and begins Jedi training with Leia, at the same time that Rey begins training with Luke.
It would still be interesting to watch.)
- Either Finn or Rey are in real danger of turning to the Dark side and allying with Kylo Ren.
