Thanks! Yours is the only vid that actually showed how the fork gets pulled UP to release the bearing, not OUT. Yeah, it's simple, after the first time you do it correctly! Nice work.
Hey man, I hope you see this and can respond. Just picked up another RX8 manual with 77k. I hear the buzzing sound UNTIL I push in the clutch and then it’s silent. Is that Input shaft bearing or throw out?
You did a great job kid ! Thanks for the review and keep up the great work ! I have a question tho ? Is the Mazda rx8's have a firm clutch m as in just harder to depress than say a Mitsubishi eclipse ?
Nice job! I've got one question though, are you sure you had 5 bolts for the bell housing, and not just the four? I only have four, is the longer one for the starter?
Great breakdown of the process! Do you think you could give me some details or advice on how you unclipped the wires on the trans? I've been stumped for a couple days now
What symptoms was this causing ? I have a 2009 rx8 and when at a stop and in first gear it stalls intermittently and also makes a whining noise when clutch is pressed and is really hard to shift in first and reverse
Made a noise when clutch pedal is pressed, and could smell the bearing burning up. Also makes it hard to get into gear depending on how bad it is. It won’t make your car stall when moving in first gear, but if you meant stall while your vehicle is stopped it’s in first gear and your holding the clutch in, then it sounds to me that your issue is very likely the throw out bearing. You may be able to sneak a peak of it through the hole that the shift fork goes into the side of the trans, and if it’s as bad as mine was you’ll be able to see.
@@TomlinPerformance that’s what I meant when stopping and in gear with clutch in, I tried to put it in gear this morning and it was impossible. I didn’t want to force it either. this video was a big help by the way thanks , it’s probably the best rx8 trans removal video I seen
Do you have a non timelapsed version of 12:15-12:35 (the bit where you mount the transmission) wasted a whole weekend trying to mount my tranny but the input shaft wont go in (pretty sure ive aligned the clutch properly too as i had a tool and i tried rotating the splines but it just won't go in)
I unfortunately don’t anymore, but maybe you could screen record it and slow it down. I just used the jack to support the back and then once I got the input shaft in enough the trans wouldn’t fall on me I got under it and had to wiggle up and down sided to side and rotate back and fourth to shimmy it in. I’d double check your clutch is aligned and that your tool can go in and out easy. If it does, grease up your input shaft and make sure there’s no dirt or anything on it and try again double checking it’s clear all around from wires or anything else in the way and get to a comfortable spot with something supporting it so you can really man handle it in there. I’ve never had one slip in to place with no persuasion
No, bogging and chirping while clutch engaged can be a sign of throw out bearing if that’s what you’re having. No bogging with clutch disengaged, that’d be something else.
@@TomlinPerformance I replaced both important solenoids and purge valve and it fixed majority of the issue still think my clutch is slipping and the chirping noises have gone down significantly
For somone with just a tool box and 2 car Jack stands transmission removal is nearly impossible no? I’d need a impact and a good Jack to ghetto lift it no? And also some kind of oger to hold and pull the transmission down
@@bdolla5118 not at all, I’ve done it several times. I use a regular floor jack instead of a trans jack. You will need lots of extensions for a ratchet tho to reach top bolts, I do that in both this and my other Rx8 trans video if you’d like to see how I remove and install the trans.
I didn’t change my pilot bearing this time around, previously I’ve used a clutch alignment tool, bread, and a hammer. Pack the bread into the bearing hole and hammer in a clutch alignment tool to force the bearing out.
This is immensely helpful, thank you for taking the time to make this.
Glad I could help!
This video actually helped a ton. I gotta t/o bearing to change and this video actually walked you through every step. Thanks a lot.
Glad I could help!! Goodluck!!
What you do you own I need to do the same to my 2006
This video helps a ton! Well done for doing it on your own! 👍🏻

I’m doing this right now in my yard this video helps big time thanks
Glad it could help
nice vid, i rate that amount of work you put in. Keep it up, hard working without a hoist and proper setup but its worth it
Thanks my man! Appreciate it!!
Great video and angles dog- helped me figure out how to remove my trans to replace the flywheel.
Glad I could help!!
Great job!!!
I'm about to do the same job and your video helps a lot!!!
Glad I can help!!
Wow Nice job I suppose to do that thanks for the video 🙏👌🏻

Well done. You made it look easy.
I laughed so hard when I saw all those extensions. Literally about to go do the same though, lol

I’m not sure I’ve been able to compare the 2. But all clutches will feel different. Even 2 different clutch brands in the same car.
Mine I changed clutch and trans keeps making a weird noise any help is well received
Nice job! I've got one question though, are you sure you had 5 bolts for the bell housing, and not just the four? I only have four, is the longer one for the starter?
5 bolts Including the bolt for the starter. 4 that strictly hold the bell housing, and the starter bolt will be the longest.
@@TomlinPerformance Copy that, thanks for clarifying.

Once the bracket is off it makes it easier to get to them, there’s just a tab on the top you press down and pull them apart.
i wished u put in disconnecting all the wires would have been rlly helpfull
Nice video

Did you not change your pilot bearing? Or oil seal
Nope, had I been keeping the car longer than a couple months I would but I usually only have a car for 2-3 months
Was the noise like a chirping that only happend low rpm / bogging below 1k
