As a firefighter, we really appreciate how you work with law and emergency services. Thank you. Coming up to a scene like that can be intimidating. You handle yourself so professionally. I love the idea of blue lights and siren on the tow truck. They don't have that in Iowa. Lost two heavy tow truck driver here in Iowa a couple years ago on the shoulder of the road.
Yeah I wish we had the blue lights here in Iowa. I work at the DOT and they just started adding blue lights to our plow trucks due to people not moving over and yielding while we work.
Thank you so much. All first response agencies in our area have worked hard to build that relationship of mutual respect. It is nice to know someone has your back. I hate to hear about the loss in Iowa. It happens so often. God bless.
Bill Pitts in Alberta & maybe all of Canada I’ve never have seen nor heard of tow trucks with sirens. We have the lights & a relatively new law that people passing in the lane next to an emergency vehicle, vehicles MUST reduce their speed to 60km. Tow trucks are included-a point that was made when advertising the new law
Ron, while I'll probably never hook a vehicle up to a tow truck, I like everything I've learned about rigging and safety from your videos. Stay safe out there.
As a retired FF/EMT for 31 plus years I love your professionalism towards the FD and the LEOs. I can count on one hand of the area tow company’s that are close to your caliber of professionalism. Love the videos. Also I have learned a lot of towing the large trucks especially since we have a 1996 international 17 foot otter home. Thanks for what you do from Ohio.
It's fascinating to watch a real pro at work, using incredible equipment to achieve things that would seem impossible to the layman. One of the few channels that hold my interest to the end of each video.
Ron, from our experience from the FD we have found the the lower you can mount your siren (ideally around the bumper area) the better other drivers hear it. Hope it helps, stay safe.
As a former over the road truck driver. I sincerely appreciate all the work you do. I've seen some nasty accidents, especially trucks and trailers. And that's how I found your channel. Thank you
One of the things I love about your channel is your rule of never showing an accident if a fatality is involved. I feel it is wrong when someone else tries to gain from the ultimate lose of another. Keep up the great work and videos
Unfortunately fatal crashes are often good learning experiences. I don't call them accidents. They are collisions that happen because somebody did something wrong.
Yeah? Id like to see them. This world has become desensitised to the consequences of its actions by being shielded in this fashion. Aside from that, Im fascinated in the way that something that seems so solid, can become a tuna can in certain circumstances.
As always a great video. Up here in the north when the snow flies we would always get calls backed up. Then with the service calls, well lets just say that at the end of the day you were a total wreck. Thank God our crew had wives that understood that when the weather gets bad we were on call 24 hrs. and had a job to do. God Bless Ron.
I love the new camera on the back window, feels like I am sitting in the back watching everything. Awesome. Great job to the crew to clean this up. Thank God every one came out ok. God Bless.
Dianna F I agree.. Feels little more like your riding along....& see whats going on...b4 u could hear things going on....but never knew what it was. I'm a Curious person!!
Mr. Pratt, as always your videos remind me to slow down and pay attention. I live in a rural/agriculture area and folks need to remember tractor-trailer rigs and most farm equipment can't stop or maneuver as quickly as cars and pickups.
What a messy, and nasty accident. I'm so glad that nobody was seriously hurt in it. I laughed when you mentioned the seat cover, as I never really noticed it. A torn cover means, you are working hard and it's all good. :) As soon as I saw your new vid, I had to stop and watch. I enjoy your videos, and appreciate all the work that goes into getting one edited, and so on, for here. Looks like you had a super busy day that day. God Bless and keep up your fantastic work. Can't wait for another installment of Day In The Life of Ron Pratt: Tow Truck Driver.
I've been watching quite a few of your videos and just subscribed. your level of professionalism, the way you communicate with LEO's and FD/EMT's is wonderful, as well as your treatment of your co-workers. Very patient and knowledgeable. So great to see a Christian in these days doing wonderful work and training. KEEP IT UP and God Bless!!!!
Ron, I just last week found your videos and really enjoy them. I'm a retired Chief Engineer and worked mostly on US Flag Oil Tankers. I've had to rig and lift many loads, in not so perfect conditions and always found that a Tagline really helped to give us a lot of control and help stop the load from swinging. Usually, one man on each tagline (one on each end / side) would be all that's needed in most cases but even just one worked better than none. Anyway, please keep the the great Videos coming and Always Stay Safe!
Ron I really enjoy your video's because they remind me of a good friend of mine we lost to an accident some 10 years ago. He ran a wrecker and I went with him a lot to help him out. You remind me a lot of him in the way you do things, Slow and steady and be safe while doing it. Keep up the great work and video's. Bandit
*Some. There are some that are more durable than anything you could ever make at home, but then again they're $500+ per seat, and that's in a passenger car. Can't imagine what one of those super high quality covers would cost for a big rig size captain's seat.
Amazing that driver wasn't injured! That was one heck of an impact (never saw a tractor axle damaged that badly before) and a long line of debris there! Guess those airbags must work pretty good! Thanks for sharing! God bless.
Thank God no one was hurt. Another amazing video and full cooperation with the fire department and good traffic control. I have never seen this before and what you are doing is TRULY amazing. God bless you and your employees for the work everyone do at Midwest Truck. On a personal n ote, i know your friend Darrell is smiling down on you.
I wish ALL Tow Trucks drivers were as Conscientious as you and your employees are with getting the area Clear and Open as Quickly and Safely as possible to Minimize Delays and the opportunity for Secondary Accidents. Thank You! 👍
Hay Ron I was on a volunteer fire department in Ohio for 21 years before I moved to North Carolina we were aloud to run lights and siren on are pov's I ran a PA 200 Whelan 200 watt with a match speaker it moved traffic if you need one I still have all of my strobe lights and three sirens speakers and wireing for strobe lights and high out put strobe packs all good equipment strobe packs never been out in weather always put them in cab of my truck . Great job Ron keep up the good work be safe
Love the videos keep up the hard work. It’s good to see an insight into what you do, keep posting and we will keep watching. Watched your other videos aswell and will continue watching them 👌
Hi Ron my name is David and me and my dad we do towing I am a big fan I love your vlogs we work for classic towing you make me happy every day I hope u see this and have a good don’t let people bring u down 🤝👍🏼
Great video Ron.. now there is a seamless continuity between cab-cam and helmet-cab..the result is so much more professional. Soon you'll have a Discovery tv crew following you around :) That was as always with you, a text-book recovery. Kudos from Norway..
I watch all your videos and the level of organization you put in is amazeing you have something for every situation in your trucks and keep them tidy great job
Might I suggest a Federal Q siren, for the front of the rotator. It will definitely get attention, and help move people out of your way. Great video, and i'm looking forward to the next one, as always. God bless.
Great video as always. If I could make a safety suggestion? Well... First definitely get you a true federal Q siren. Second get you a 200 watt siren (maybe look into a rumbler). And here is the safety part, please hook your siren up to your horn or add a button switch to your shifter. That way you can be as safe as possible by not taking your hands away from where they are needed. I believe there is a guy here in S.C. who can customize your shifter.
Great recovery Ron. Most of us take for granted that no issues will arise as we trust others we don't even know in driving down one lane, undivided highways. The only thing separating the cars & trucks going each way is a simple yellow line going down the center of the highway. Obviously these two manage to hit darn near head-on, side swiping each other as they blow by at highway speeds. Thank God that the SUV driver survived with only minor injuries. Thanks for the post, & the reminder that we all need to constantly pay attention while driving, anything can happen to make somebody simply twitch the steering wheel in the wrong direction at the wrong time.
Nicely done sir, you two work well as a team ! Only one point to mention, it would be safer to put the cones out while facing the oncoming traffic, that way if anything untoward happens you will be able to move out of the way. Pleased to see you have a great working relationship with all the emergency services too! !
Hi, I've been watching your videos for a while and I'm really enjoying them when someone passes in a vehicle accident my heart goes out to the families. you keep saying you're not going to show the video if there's death involved that is your choice and I can respect that but I think you should because it can be a learning tool and it might save a life. Another good video. I have to say im in my last two weeks of towing. I would love to being doing recoverys like you but what we do and how and ill say a lack of saftey to put it politely made this up.
Incredible debris field! Glad to know there were only vehicle body parts. That had to be one of your more messy sites and thankfully you had help with the cleanup from the fire department. Looking forward to seeing the other tow.
Hello from the other side of southern Missouri. I've been watching your videos for a couple weeks now and haven't been able to stop for some reason. I feel like I could locate all your equipment on the truck already lol
I'm surprised some that a Jeep did that much damage to the tractor, but as long as both drivers were home for supper it's all spare parts and paperwork from there.
Modern cars and trucks are meant to fall apart on impact, mostly to make sure pedestrians get home for supper even after being hit. Yes, it costs more to repair the vehicle, but it beats having to arrange funerals by miles.
It doesn't matter what it's constructed of, a pedestrian gets hit by a semin, assuming they survive the plastic and fiberglass hood, grille and bumper cover, the push bar underneath and radiator behind the grille will toast you. But you are right about them being designed to fall apart on impact. They're actually designed to crumple, so the vehicle takes the impact of the hit, not the driver/passengers. Everything on the exterior that doesn't get killed/totaled is just a bonus.
I wonder how can Ron do two tows , one while he is on the scene working one out, to receive a call that there is another one at that instant, simply amazing the way he can do both within seconds or minutes apart,👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
In many of your videos, i noticed you have 2 transceivers on board. One CB i think, but it looks they are never switched on or used (maybe it was in a video i did not yet watch).
God Bless you Ron, always look forward to your videos and you are the most decent person I have come across, hope you do have time to peruse your hobbies. One question, was the truck repairable?
Duper Doper Video, I thought that front axel would have to be chained up - I guess not. what a mess that little car made of that truck front end !!!. Excellent hookup Ron & Talon, Keep On Truckin !!!! And may God Bless.
Ron you can put a rumbler siren its a low frequency siren that sends sound waves and helps people move over and i would suggest a Powercall siren that firetrucks have
Ed CurtisI have been watching you for some time now, I like your videos. Just a suggestion you might want to get a set of angle head wrenches for the air lines. I worked on a lot of air and hydraulic lines and they really make a difference. I like the importance of safety, You can't believe how many employers and workers that don't even think about it. Stay Safe.

I worked on a lot of air and hydraulic lines and they really make a difference. I like the importance of safety, You can't believe how many employers and workers that don't even think about it. Stay Safe.
