- Using our 1150R to recovery a tractor/trailer that jack-knifed and went through the barrier cable system during a heavy storm. One of the drivers jumped out of the truck during the crash, but survived with only minor injuries. The high winds made this a "tricky" recovery.

No offense intended but I'm a retired police officer in Florida and I have to say. FL would never allow a tow truck service to have operating emergency lights and sirens. I mean they aren't even considered first responder so there's no need to be in that much of a rush to get to a scene for tow guys. Its to dangerous to allow un emergency driving trained civilians to do. can't help but laugh every time I see that on your vids. I like them anyway so I'm not downing the vids.
I also mean no offense. In your statement, however, you make many assumptions. As you are retired, you may not be aware of a lot of the changes in the industry. First, we are Emergency Services as defined by the state of Missouri: revisor.mo.gov/main/OneSection.aspx?section=304.022&bid=34605&hl=TOW%u2044
There are many towing/recovery companies who DO train and have certifications. I have multiple certifications from my industry, police, fire, and DOT. We are extremely active in our local Emergency Services community. Last week we were called, because of our training and equipment, to assist local FD with recovery of a fatality victim from a semi crash. I won't go into details on here, but we were "hands-on" and welcomed by ALL agencies on scene, which included 2 fire districts, local PD, the county Sheriff, Missouri State Highway Patrol, the County Coroner, and the MSHP Major Crash Investigation Team. I understand you have your work history and I thank you for your service. Please understand that there are PROFESSIONALS in my industry who are willing, trained, and certified. We can be a useful asset in the Emergency Services community, if we can get past the long-held negative view of our industry. Granted, I do not agree with every towing/recovery company being allowed to perform the same services as we do. We have taken the time, effort, and expense of investing in equipment, personnel, and training. I don't understand why you would laugh at that???
Respectfully,
Ron Pratt
Every minute that wreck is on the road increases the chances of secondary accidents. So getting tow trucks to the scene ASAP is a good way to prevent others from being hurt and tying the road up for longer periods. Maybe FL should rethink their rules on letting tow trucks use emergency lights. Especially considering how high of a non attentive older drivers you have on the road. Heck most don't even notice their turn signals are on while parked in the left lane.
@@RonPratt I am thankful that their are trained professionals such as yourself who can be trusted by local law enforcement agencies and other first-responders to run code. Most people don't realize it, but in terms of accidents, especially on the freeway, the longer there is a blockage or any type of hazardous situation, the greater the risk of secondary accidents. Also, you never know what other situations may be going on that are being impeded by an accident. What if first-responders are on their way to a house fire or shooting, but they cannot get there because the road is blocked due to a wreck? How about a medical transport bringing a needed blood transfusion or organ transplant to a hospital? Wreckers should ABSOLUTELY be considered first responders and be able to run code. Also, it is my experience (at least in Michigan) that running amber/white lights (like tow trucks and road work crews do) gets far less of a response in traffic than first responders running red/blue lights. Traffic is much more likely to slow down and move over for a stopped police car than a stopped tow truck. This translates to a much higher safety risk to the wrecker operator. Even if it was just while on scene, the ability to run red/blue lights would greatly increase roadside safety for tow trucks in my opinion.
As always, I am amazed at your professionalism and kindness, and your speed and efficiency when dealing with situations. You are an inspiration to a young truck driver like myself. Keep up the good work! God bless and be safe, praying for you and your crew into this new year!
@@RonPratt Damn bet that guy isn't laughing now. Ron dropped the mic and walked away.
@@RonPratt this is the way it should be , to open the roads opened faster .
The training a tow truck driver is a lot more now
who else spent the first 5 min trying to see under Ron's sun visor? lol
lol
Yep, been playing so many virtual reality games as of late that I forgot that you can't peek under something in a video. I felt pretty stupid alright.
lol
I was ducking down to try to see better also lol.
Sorry. I will work on better camera placement. This was kind of a rush job, so no time to set up the dash cam. Thanks for watching and God bless.
glad the oatmeal cream pies survived the crash
They were seatbelted in

They are one of my favorites as well. Don't damage the snacks!!!! God bless.
Well I clearly see what caused this accident. There was a family pack size of little Debbies oatmeal cream pies driving.
Damm thoes evil pies..
Devilishly delish
Lol. That's the 1st thing I notice too
Gotta keep riding...can't stop for lunch, this wind made me slow down and now I'm going to be behind schedule if I don't keep on truckin'...so I'll eat my little Debbie oatmeal cakes until I can get a good balanced hot meal...then uh oh...big wind swept through...
Did anyone else just spend the first 5 minutes cocking their heads trying to see out the window screen ? ;op loving your videos from all the way over from the UK
Yeah, i found myself ducking my head to see further up the road. LOL

Ron,
Greetings from Northern Illinois, It looks like you have a chip in your windshield, or is it in my computer screen.
It seems that the trailer got blown about because it was empty. Do you think a load in the trailer would have kept the trailer on the road in the wind? Of course, I know you have to return the emptys sometime.
You sure work your tail off Ron!
I try. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Makes me want to go out and order a new rotator everytime I watch you in action with yours. Even on this job which was tricky due to the high winds, it worked great and it saves soo much time. I've got ramps that I've built just for situations as this. However, by the time I got them in place and re- hooked a couple of times, I would have spent far more time and had to have blocked the road for at least a few minutes at the rear of the trailer while I set the ramps and slid it back onto the highway. BTW, that would have taken more than one total reset. I've resisted a rotator because of it's initial overwhelming cost, the fact that I didn't think it would work well on narrow mountain roads, and I'm getting old, just as my beloved Holmes 850 is. Oh, don't get me wrong, I have other, "pretty" recovery trucks that actually do most of the work around here. "Grand pa" and the "ole 850" only go out on the bad ones, where experience and "grunt" is needed. GOD Bless and thanks for the video
I do have to say, that wheel lift setup for big trucks is the best thing, I believe that could have happened to big truck towing! Moreover, I an not sure why they didn't come up with it sooner, for towing semi trucks!
It does work really well, but is often heavy and cumbersome to install. God bless.
Cool to see that you bring your son along for the ride sometimes!
Man, that truck amazes me every time I see it in action! Amazing power! I know it was an empty trailer, but still. :)
Your work ethic says alot about you, Ron - all good of course! You are genuinely concerned about your fellow man - that is a breath of fresh air in this day and age, let me tell you! You push yourself as hard as you can, so that others can get off the road as soon as possible, for their safety. Lots of respect from me - you have the soul of a warrior. :) I know how much all that rigging weighs - I pulled a winch cable out of a heavy truck 100' to retrieve my recycling truck that nearly went through someone's house, after sailing down a short 14% grade on glare ice in the city. I know that stuff cannot be easy to toss around!
I don't mean to bring down the mood here, but I have to ask a big favor, knowing you are a man of deep faith - I just got news today that my mom's cancer has returned with a vengeance - it has spread through her whole body - bones, organs, everything. She's already beat it once, but this sounds really bad to me. The doctors say it is still treatable, although I feel in my gut this may not be the case. If you could say a prayer for her, I'd appreciate it. Typing through blurry eyes ... God has saved her once - hopefully He will decide it's not her time just yet. Thank you, Ron - we love you.
Definitely have my prayers for your mother, you, and yours. May God bless and keep all of you.
Ron
A loving prayer coming to you and your mom from across the pond, keep the faith. When your mom is called she will be at peace.
Praying for you, stay strong and keep the faith. God always has a plan :)
I pray for your mom Smitty Smithsonite.
THANK YOU ALL from the bottom of my heart! I really appreciate it! God bless you all.
Great job! Had this been that one towing company that was on TV a while back, this would have been a 4 hour long video. haha
Dang, makes me tired just watching you run around and do the work of 2 or 3 men by yourself! What a workout!!
"I told him 15-20 minutes max, so we gotta move!"
Why do you do this to yourself, Ron? lol
Kevill
Cause they need those lanes back open.... ASAP.
Tell them 30 and when you get the job done in 20 you look like a hero.
That's just the way I am. I push myself. I always have. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Dan Coco Just like Scotty from Star Trek would tell Capt. Kirk that something couldn't be fixed, and then he would get it running..........Yep, I'm a Trekkie.
Pushing is good, but I push myself too hard and then I start messing up. =P
I shouldn't be critical of another driver, but anyone who decides to bail out of a truck while it's moving is obviously not properly buckled in. I could say more about bailing out, but I think I've said more than enough already. Nice work, Ron. In addition to a nice bath for the rotator, do your straps get a nice scrub-a-dub after they get all filthy and muddy on some of these jobs? Not to mention your work wear... Mike definitely got the dirty end of the stick on this one, doing all the underneath work. Two thumbs up. Safety first !
Seniortity rules
Yeah, seniority has its perks. But as you've seen from my other videos, I'm no stranger to getting down and dirty myself. To answer your question, yes, everything gets a bath after a job like this. Thanks as always and God bless.
Hey Ron, another very interesting video! Loved seeing your son with you; it’s so nice to see and hear the interaction between you two. Plus, it’s cool he’s learning the family business from the ground up. Was surprised to hear the woman driver bailed. But then thought, if I was in her shoes, what would I have done?! Guess it’s not fair to judge another’s reactions if we haven’t been in the same type of situation ourselves. Thank you for sharing and as always, Godspeed.
Thank you for that perspective on the driver. It is easy to say what we would have done, but until we are actually in that situation....you just never know. I admit it was a unusual tactic, but I am glad there were no significant injuries. I thoroughly enjoy having Ethan with me whenever I can. God bless and thank you for watching.
Great job Ron, that wind wasn't helping, love the way your always thinking about not doing any secondary damage to the customers vehicle, awesome glad everyone was ok. I'll say merry christmas to you, your family and staff just in case you don't post another vid before christmas. god bless stay safe. pat. UK.
Thanks. Hopefully I'll get at least one and maybe two videos up before Christmas. I have something special I'm working on.....
Thanks for watching and God bless.
She jumped out of the truck and left it go wherever it goes by its own ? WOW , not very professional if you ask me Ron . What if in the direction the truck was heading was a car with a family in ? Thank God everything went alright ! That dangerous swing from the wind was a bit scary ! Take care man and God bless you !!!!
Awesome job under tough conditions....good to see your co-pilot with ya!
I said what a mess on your last video where the pick up was off in the field, I was wrong. This is a mess. A big one.
In my job I have to clean up messes of all sizes. Thanks for watching and God bless.
You always operate in a safe manner but you get things done quick. As a truck driver I appreciate that because you get these accidents out of the road before they cause another accident and I can be on my way
Am I the only one who tries to see under the visor in every video. Lol. Love watching.
nope. Me too. lol
LOL, sorry guys when I am focused I don't always check the camera placement. God bless.
Rotater makes light work of what could have been otherwise a tricky freeing from the barriers with a normal rigid boom Truck
Which do you prefer the Tyre Lift or Chassis (frame) underlift if the Wheels are good to lift usually ?
Great Vid ... Weather adding to the Hazards already out there
This truck is amazing in itself. But, the skill and knowledge of Ron in using it is even more amazing.
good job Mr. Pratt. Always interesting to watch how thing get solved.
God Bless You and Your Family.
Thank you and God bless.
Ron, that was quick work you did (with Mike's assistance) in getting this rig off the highway. I think this was the fastest I have seen you work (meant as a compliment) and for the conditions you were working in & under......
Wow, jumping out of your rig when crashing,, dont think y would ever think doing that!,Just would have hanged on brace and pray.... Nice to here she was alright, but man, jumping of your rig... brrrr.
MrBugsier5 And it’s a Volvo, build like a tank.
At least used to be and that what we used to say about Volvo in Sweden before.
That was not the smartest thing she could have done. Then again, I wasn't there.
Mr - Does anyone know if LEOs established who she was and her relationship to the driver? Major 'red flag' IMO.

She WAS the driver!
Will the Firemen blast all the mud and other debris off of the road ? Amazing towing/recovery truck.. Really versatile..
This was fun to watch, thanks again! Keep them coming!
Really nice job of only using the 2 lanes there Ron, some precision driving 👍👍👍
Thank you and God bless.
A smallish van ran off the M23 (here in the UK!) a few months ago, just into bushes at the side of a four-lane stretch. Clever police shut ALL FOUR LANES and diverted all the traffic somewhere else, causing havoc... Why they couldn't work in two lanes I've got no idea... Health & Safety I suppose!!
When I drive by a scene like this I don't think much of it. I take a split second to say a prayer that everyone is alright, then keep going. To an average eye this would seem like a usual scene, but due to the high winds, combined with the need to lift the trailer (WITH traffic, bear in mind), and the trailer being tangled in the barrier cables, this is trouble.
I now understand a little better just how rough tow operators have it when they have to respond to a scene like this. I am so sorry you have to deal with situations much, much worse than this one, Ron. You are an amazing man and I am moved almost to tears with how professional you handle your calls like this.
First time watcher ..my son told me about you.I had to check it out . Actually really fun.Stay safe out THERE.
Thank you to your son and welcome to my channel. I hope you find it educational and entertaining at the same time. God bless.

Wow! She jumped out!! One can only ask why!!
Good work, Sir!! Thanks for sharing!

Perhaps the brakes failed, if you cannot stop the juggernaut, I-suppose the next best thing is to jump, so long as it doesn’t run over you, very risky
I never would think I would be sub to a towing channel. But Ron the man for the job.
Just came back from work Perfect timing to end a long work day with an awesome video to watch :)
Glad to be of assistance. Thanks for watching and God bless.
God bless , and thank you for making videos :)
WOW! Sounds like this crash can go on those videos "And they walked away". I do not think I would have jumped out. I think I would have stayed buckled in and assume I would live. That driver must have been in fear of there life. To choose to jump or bail out. Nice work on your part Ron. Even with the wind being so strong every thing seemed to go good for you. I also like how you try to get the job done and get off the roadways asap. Good safe practice/procedure.
I so love your videos. Very entertaining.
That truck of yours is a beast! I just love it! By the way Ron, as embarrassing as this is, you make me want to be a better man! Cheers from Oz and God bless you, your family and your business.
Do you not need safety chains with the new lift or did I catch you slipping
yeah i caught that also Ron is always a safty first guy figured he would have hooked them just to have them on
Despite it wasn't a long distance to the shop, this was my idea too. What about the yellow chains?
However, well done Ron!
Please refer to the pinned comment and my response at the top of this thread. Thanks for watching and God bless.
very impressed ..all that without closing the road completely for about 3 hours ..over here in health & safety mad England they would of closed the road regardless ..i'm all for safety but its over the top in the UK..
Thank you very much. God bless.
Although in England we have a lot of drivers who will slow right down to gawp at a crash or film it on their phones causing tailbacks and further accidents.
Too funny. Right as I thought that you had never shown a wheel lift before, you had the note on the screen saying the same thing. Thanks for sharing. A great tool in the hands of a great operator - gets the job done quickly and without further damage to the equipment.
Thank you very much. God bless.
Man, every time I watch one of your videos I'm genuinely impressed; you sir, are a consummate profession. I also love how you narrate what you're doing just enough that I can fully understand what you're doing and why, that's not an easy thing to do, and I absolutely appreciate it.

That big recovery truck, (rotator do you call it?), is really something else...in my youth it would've been regarded as akin to something out of Thunderbirds...great job Ron...
Thanks from Right Pond

PS Hope the driver was indeed ok...did you ever get any confirmatory news?
Yes, the driver only suffered minor injuries....very fortunate. And the Rotator is a "Beast". I absolutely love operating her. Thanks for watching and God bless.
I love this truck
As do I. Thank you Sir. God bless.
I drove OTR for 35 years and in that time I worked for two HD Wrecker comps. One in "New Dirty (New Jersey)" and the other down in Bama. I will say that 99.8% of the time a empty trailer is a blessing (That other 0.02% ya just gotta live with 😁)".
That wind was giving you a fit for a moment there. Oh!, and one other thing... When you were backing up between the truck and the passing traffic, you could've made it through there if you had twice as much room 🤣!!!
Love the videos Sir.
You put the note up just as I was thinking "Is that new or just never used?" your a mind reader!
The tire lift came with the truck, I just rarely use it because it is so heavy. My previous truck also had a tire lift as do our other current heavy tow units. They are very useful, but cumbersome. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Very lucky driver i.m.o, im surprised she didn't suffer serious injuries!. God bless, that was quicker to recover thani thought it would be.
WAUW! It's so cool how you handle this, you're a real profesional. Amased to see how this works out well with your approach.
@RON Pratt. 9:15 minutes into the video and you have earned a new subscriber. I come from a family of big rig drivers and even a few company owners. Much respect to you, Sir sure know your job.
That looks dangerous when it's windy
Can you remember to move the visor to the storage position so we don’t have to study it’s stitching. Lol.
Is this gonna be your first winter with this channel?
No, we just didn't have much of a winter last year. No snow to speak of, which made me kind of sad LOL. I enjoy the snow, just not the ice. God bless and we will see what he has in store for us this year.
This guy moves at lighting speed. God bless him!
Like the boom cam.
Another marvelous video.
Awesome wrecker! Very professional job recovering the truck. Good video. Thanks
I'm glad the driver will be ok but I don't understand why she jumped out of the truck in the first place
she probably thought it was gunna roll, Volvos are a steel cab but they still fly into 1000 tiny little pieces when they roll.. and then you die..
Cincy RailFan Productions That is the 64 thousand dollar question. It would seem insane to leave the safety of all that mass surrounding you that Is designed to keep you safe.
I haven't seen too many trucks roll, land on their side, yes but not roll. If she had her safety belt on which I'm guess she didn't she could have walked away from this one.
p3th3t1c She still took a huge risk, when she bailed she could have easily ended up in the path of the trailer tandem duals. Praise GOD she was ok.
my buddy told me when he got his class A cdl that they flat out told him here in NH cars you are not required to use the seat belt but in a commercial vehicle you are as they told him that is to prevent bailout you are supposed to ride it out.
Can only imagine driving and then seeing a semi and trailer plow thru the median at speed headed right for you. :-0
I'm astonished the driver jumped out and this rig almost did a 180 through the median AND is still towable. Makes me believe in a higher power.
Hi Ron:
Very nice and safe removal, even in the wind.
The truth is Guardrail and cable stay guardrail is not intended for 18 wheel trucks and buses.
The 42" tall median barrier is the only safety item that will keep a truck or bus on the highway. The Barrier that you see most of the is only 32"tall and trucks can climb up on it or break thought . I designed Interstate highways for 40 years.
I enjoy your clean show and that you are a christian.
I'm not as educated about the cable systems as you. I have seen the ones in our area perform remarkably. Of course they destroy anything that comes into contact with them... Thankfully this truck did not meet oncoming traffic when it went through. I was surprised that it went through until I noticed that it broke through where the cable system anchors and transitions into the galvanized railing system for the bridge. I am very pleased that you appreciate my family-friendly format. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Yay, finally something proper to watch 👌🏻
Glad you enjoy. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Its fascinating and satisfying. Maybe because it is 'wrong' becoming 'right', like in a movie
That section of interstate has always been a nasty in wind storms and snow storms .
Good work Hoss, Those troopers didn't make your job much better by saying we got to get this roadway opened up as soon as possible. They can see your working on it. I know they're doing you a solid by selecting your company for the recovery. Seems like it's a lack of courtesy and ethics. Solely my opinion and everyone has one !!!. Guess we do what we have to do. Supper video Ron... Cheers !! *** :-D
That guy talking to Ron often was a Fireman, he wanted to know how long at most to clear the road so they can hose the dirt off to get it open as quickly as possible.
In other words to take his time-Hurry up !!.
vetterfellow it's the highway patrols policy and best interest to keep the road open whenever possible. On top of that rotators are designed specifically with that in mind, to recover accidents while maintaining the flow of traffic as safely as possible
vetterfellow I didn't take it personally when they asked. I have worked and trained with most of the people that were on that particular scene. There were multiple incidents on both sides of the interstate at the same time and their resources were stretched thin. Also, they must report in to dispatch with updates so they were asking me so that they could determine where their resources could be transitioned if needed. They know that our team will do a good job. I simply took it as part of a necessary information exchange. I can see how it may come across as rude or brash, but I know these guys and that was not their intention. Thanks and God bless.
hi Ron , great jobs on your channel, i volunteer for first response here for search and rescue (USAR). don't do M,V,A but train with fire, and have been in the comms unit to see how hard it is for them.
for those that watch, to get to the point.
first responders have to give sit reps back to comms as they are the eyes to those in control back in the comms room controlling the whole of the area.
when you get your head around that the scene is run from a remote communication centre normal part of multiple jobs at the same time and all they have to go on is those radio calls to make decisions and apply resources.
so the question can be direct and to the point, as radio chat has to be short to keep radio channels free.
anyway, I'm ranting and it was just headsup to your viewers,
PS last thing to blow me away was on a flood welfare job, team had stopped for a coffee in a small town isolated by flood water (we there to help locals), lady in the cafe shouted the team coffee and pie, its unbeleavable how generous people can be!!
Great job especially with the windy conditions! #RP
What was the point of removing the driveshaft? I am amazed that a siren is legal on a wrecker. Bailing out of the truck was a stupid move.
Gord Baker
In Missouri... Wreckers are classed as emergency vehicles. And Bailing Out was STUPID!..Your the Captain of that "ship"...Unless your goin over a mountain side and know your toast...you don't Abandon ship and leave it un-piloted.
Your in the Wrong business honey!
As previous poster said, Yes Tow trucks are considered Emergency vehicles they have sirens on them and they can be used when law enforcement asks them expedite their travel to get to a scene. That is per state thing, some states have that law others no.
As for drive shaft, some remove them some don't but likely due to prevent the spinning of transmission to prevent further damage. Even though the truck was pretty messed up and likely never drive-able again transmission and engine likely still salvage-able for use in another truck.
Thank you for assisting with the answers everyone! I am very behind on my comments, but have enjoyed playing Guitar Hero with my son as of late. God bless.
Is that a Murloc Bluegill Warrior on the dash?
Um, No. I didn't even know what that was until I Googled it to answer your question...LOL. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Don't know about that, but I love the "Mater" on the dash 😁
I would not have jump from the truck, looks like she never wheres her seat belt but the oatmeal pis were safe and sound. I hop she didn't get hear to badly . looks like she would have been fine if she would have stayed in the truck (with her seat belt on) and just road it out Ron gray work as always . record time on this one, way to go.

Great equipment, everything works, great attitude, job done well done, great example for the youngster!
Sounds like she had a real brown pants moment. Lucky the trailer didn't roll over her when she dove out of the cab of the truck.
You are correct on both issues LOL. Yes, she was VERY lucky this didn't turn out another way for all. God bless.
God and his Angel's saved her...🙏🙏🙏
Ron this is the fourth or fifth time I have watched this video since you posted it on You Tube & I am always just amazed at how harsh that wind was down there swinging that trailer around like a sail.
As a truck driver myself, I have a deep respect and admiration for your profession, though I do not envy it. Being based out of Springfield, I’ve seen your fleet around though I haven’t had to use your services. With all due respect, I hope I won’t have to! Take care, stay safe, and Merry Christmas.
Thank you for the compliments and for watching. God bless and keep you safe on the road.
Here's what happened, clearly the oatmeal cookies pushed that woman out of the truck and crashed into the median and is unconscious in the drivers seat.
LOL, best comment so far!!!! Those snack cakes can be really dangerous. God bless.

Looks like your new tire lift is safer than the older system. Your attention to safety is impressive
The tire lift came with the truck. I just don't use it very often, because it is heavy and cumbersome. The truck I had prior to this truck also had a tire lift. They are very useful, but they also have their drawbacks. First, as I stated, they are heavy and cumbersome. Second, they have a poor weight distribution. On the rotator, the weight distribution isn't as much of an issue as it would be on a 25 or 35 ton towing/recovery unit. On the positive side, once the main beams are in place, the hookup is quite simple and quick. There are certain trucks and buses that require the use of a tire lift to be towed. As always, thank you for your input and God bless.
Ok ron u answered my ??? As well my friend. My ??? Was about the wheel lift as well. Stay safe and god bless you
I Think you should give yourself a pay rise Ron . After all you seemed to be doing all the hard work . Great recovery though You don't mind the work do you Ron, you seem to do the work of 3 men whenever I watch a video of yours. (All of them in fact) Take care Ron . Darren
Thank you so much. My wife refers to me as "spider monkey" the way I climb and zip around. I can tell you though this 40 something body feels every movement. At least when I am working, the adrenaline kicks in and I don't feel it until later. LOL God bless and thanks for watching.
You move fast for a old man lol just kidding keep them coming God Bless
luv watchin' you fix what other people get into ... U ALL R AWESOME !!!
I think that that trailer stronger than the cab of the truck
I just stumbled across your channel Ron, after watching several videos I have to say you're a class act. A Professional at what you do and a gentleman. I've subscribed to your channel, looking forward to following your escapades out in the fiels. Be safe out there and god bless.
Thank you so much and welcome to the channel. God bless.
great video. just curious about what makes you decide whether you use the wheel lift or a frame lift? I don't think ive ever seen a wheel lift used on a semi before.
The tire lifts, or wheel grids, for semis have been around for a long time. I've had this set up in the truck since we first purchased the truck. The truck I operated for 10 years prior to us purchasing the rotator also had a tire lift. The sections that fit on the "T" head part of the under-reach are extremely heavy and awkward. The ones on this truck are heavier yet than on my previous truck. My general rule has always been once the tire lift is on the under-reach I will keep it on there and use it until a job requires that I remove it. Likewise, if it is stowed in the compartment, I don't get it out unless it is absolutely necessary, because they are so heavy. I had them on the under-reach because I had towed a tractor trailer combo that had an air-ride steer axle and the tire lift is the best method to tow that setup......so I had left the tire lift on and it is still on. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Nice recovery as always. That driver sure had her guardian angel riding with her when she jumped! Guess Mike got the dirty job in the mud :) Oh and thanks for the blinky lights on both trucks! What is the wattage and speaker size on your siren? It needs more horsepower. Maybe Santa will bring you a nice shiny Federal Q for really clearing traffic :) Over the years in emergency service I found the wig-wag headlights super effective for getting attention especially in daylight. Merry Christmas to the family and crew and God Bless.
They should just call him "Mike Rowe", and give him all the dirty jobs :)
Thank you and glad you got to see the blinky lights. The siren is really just a cheap one. I would love to upgrade soon. He who shows up late, gets the mud. LOL we were both a bit dirty after this one. Happy New Year and thank you for continuing to support my channel. God bless.
When I used to do emergency lighting for fire engines, we found that for clearing close-in traffic, lights low on the grille or bumper (rear window level for cars) really helped. The high up lights work well for distant traffic and intersections but disappear when you get close behind someone. THE most effective lights were the wig-wag headlights and high power figure 8 wobble light in the grille (I do believe on the rotator, BRIGHT alternating LEDS in the grille would help. The small lights just do not have the punch to grab attention in the rear view mirror. I always suggest sitting in a car 100-200 ft in front of your rig and observe what you see. If you can ignore the flashes, it needs "more power" in the words of Tim Taylor, lol
As you know, NOTHING compares to a big Q for stopping traffic or shredding the ignorant :) God Bless and thanks for all the entertaining and educational videos and sharing your strong faith.
No offense intended friend. I hope I never need your services. However, I'm glad you and your kind are around.
Another job well done fast and safe by a true professional. That tyre lift is a handy bit of kit saves a lot of crawling around on the floor in all that crap. Stay safe out there Ron
Thank you very much. God bless.
And honk the horn a lot bud if it gets the traffic out the way more than the sirens ya need to do so.
Dodgeramfan05 Cummins You do what you have to do to get the job done. :-)
The air horns seems to work better than the siren. For some reason they seem to ignore the siren. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Ron Pratt do you want to know why people ignore sirens more than the truck horn? That’s because they probably don’t know if your trucks an emergency vehicle so they don’t care. So yeah honk the horn like a firefighter if ya have to man.
Another great video Ron, interesting to see you use the tyre lift, I didn't realise that you could tyre lift a truck being heavy, I thought it was something mainly for cars I don't think I've ever seen them used here in the U.K though I'm sure our heavy recovery guys must do just the same as you guys. Just wondering what circumstances dictate your decision on what way you lift and tow?
The lift is quicker, but heavy and cumbersome to hook up. It was already on the truck, so made for the perfect match. God bless.
👍👌
Well Done Ron! As an attorney I could have had the driver acquitted of all charges, whereas she was not operating the vehicle at the time of the crash. Furthermore, I could have demonstrated that those oatmeal cream pies were responsible and could have been charged with operating without a license,..improper lane change,..driving to endanger and malicious damage to public property. SEE YOU IN COURT LITTLE DEBBIE. Just Kidding. Again, well done Ron. God bless you and yours.
An upright truck and a driver in the present tense is about the best you can hope for.
I agree with you on that one. No serious injuries and we got the job done. God bless.
Lol well her diving out was in no way a WISE decision. I thought I heard that wrong till the end. Wow
