Nobody gay (myself included) considers this homophobic, in fact it was actually kind of interesting to see the stereotype turned on its head. Most shows back then would have a hypersexual gay person surrounded by homophobia and using their sex life as an outlet. Little Britain was the exact opposite; a sexually repressed gay surrounded by a sexually open and accepting community. Not to mention that that in itself is a subversion of the 'village mindset' stereotype. The treatment of gay characters in this show is in my opinion different and interesting enough to be funny. It was taken down for its treatment of other classes, cultures and races - I mean it literally has everything; Asian stereotypes, blackface, misogyny, fatphobia (which I guess Matt Lucas can get away with), poking fun at the working class (despite Matt/David both being rich private school boys), and mistreatment of disabilities. The show was criticised ever since it came out, this wasn't new stuff, and the creators themselves have said for years they would have cut back on some of the portrayals if they were to make it now. I won't deny it was a funny show, and much of the jokes would still be fine and considered entertaining, but a lot of the humour also drew on stereotypes that are reinforced by practices that regularly harm and kill people of other races and cultures. As 2 comedians with the kind of range and experience they have, there's no excuse for relying on that for some laughs. If this show proved anything, it's that they can come up with equally as funny material without doing it - so it was mean spirited to do it anyway. I don't necessarily agree that we should take shows like this off air, we should never commission new shows that contain this kind of humour, but this exists now and will always exist, so we may as well keep it. I am aware however, that keeping it active on streaming sites pulls in revenue for the content owners, and profiting off of racism, sexism and general prejudice is something Netflix, the BBC and Matt Lucas/David Walliams themselves can't be seen to be doing in the modern day, so overall I think it's correct that it was taken down.
@@aaron99ification personally, my current pet theory is it’s mainly upper class socialist snobs, let’s say mainly the bored housewives and earnest activist youth fresh from uni, with far too much time on their hands, and this common obsession the uppers tend to have with ‘helping others less fortunate’ which often means slinging their weight around at anything that they think is bad, whether asked to or not. I’m sure it’s mostly done with the best of intentions, but you do get the strangest arguments occurring sometimes, such as minorities being told that they’re obviously not educated enough about how to be their minority correctly if they don’t conform with someone’s opinion of them as a ‘community’. Bit odd.
@@aaron99ification I find it funny. And I belong to minorities. I laugh when someone makes a good joke about me being gay or narcotraficant(I am from latinamerica). And I make jokes about my friends too. What it's boring and annoying is the constant narrative that everything needs to offend me and that minorities are just victims of a system oppressing us. My father told me there will be racist people and there will be people with prejudice and it was up to me if I pay attention to it. So basically he taught me not to be a victim, because victimization is a way of manipulation. And sadly that's what I see this days. I have been called racist, homophobic and masochistic just because I disagree or do not support certain people and the funny thing is that I am mixraced, gay and feminist. Fact is that there are a million things happening right now that are worst than the petty fight we have in the west, and we ignore the real issues because we get lost into discussions about if a program offends me or not. If it offends you don't watch it, but don't ask me to stop watching or push TV to take it down. Otherwise, you become the bigot, you become the people you were supposed to fight.

Omg yasssss
The best outfit of Dafydd's!
It's ironic that the two main characters are in fact gay and yet this is now scorned by the BBC as homophobic. Comedy in this day and age is dead.
Yeah, It died not long after common sense.
Not by BBC by the U.K. woke asshats, BBC is just legally obliged to react I’m afraid.
"I've said it before, Vicar, and I say it again..." omg dyyyyiiinnngggg! HAHA
I am offended, that this show has been removed Netflix. So now you need to put it back.
sound logic, very offensive, cancel the cancelling!
The library scene is hilarious
Matt Lucas is just a god for me! It's so much fun watching how Marjorie Daws is "motivating" her fat fighters group, how Dame Sally Markham is tryin' to fill the pages for her book (and gets help from things she can reach from her sofa, as the bible or a radioshow😅), just brilliant and fantastic! Or the characters as Vicky Pollard (yea but nu but yea but nu...😂) or Lou + Andy... i love this black humour so much!
Thx Matt Lucas! You are the BEST!
And of course David Walliams completes this CULT series LITTLE BRITAIN or COME FLY WITH ME in a perfect brilliant way!
Thank you both!
My favorite is Bubbles DeVere. "Tap water! Tap water for everyone!"
@@nightmarefanatic1819 oh yeah bubbles is great...champaign for everyone😂
I told my uncle about this and he loves the "Who was the gay character in Are You Being Served?" Joke.
Captain Peacock was funny
I’m quite sad comedy like this doesn’t get aired on tv anymore. We’re all offended so goddamn fast, it’s not even funny anymore. LB is fantastic and I can’t count the times where I nearly wet myself laughing so loud while watching it.
South Park?
@@JimmyBoy9878 are you 15 years old?
@@18yearsoldnot 18. How bout It's Always sunny?
Try "it's always sunny in Philadelphia" 😂
I've seen like 50 people talking about how we shouldn't be offended and 0 people being offended lmao
That little old lady saying she drinks from the furry cup hasn’t lost its impact on me even after 20 years 😂😂😂😂
I just love this sketches with David and the fact that Matt Lucas is gay results for bonus I am the only gay in my street
I hate that sexual partners question. “Is there a don’t know option?”
The old lady at the end 😂
I think that's what most of the village thinks too.
So sad they stopped filming, i really enjoyed watching them
'I gotta go, Rhiannon's minge is gonna get cold' 😂😂
Kudos to whom made all these costumes for Matt.
This skit was ahead of it’s time. Now it’s just called “stunning and brave”.
Love how as a kid i never got most of the jokes and now they are that more funny. Real shame we can't have a laugh about things anymore. My late nan absolutely loved little britain, many happy memories watching this with her
"I just thought it was the ones who couldn't get boyfriends!"......LOL!!!
not one person in that village is hetero XD
Except Dafydd
This is pure gold.
Absolute gold, too outrageous for these current times.
I so badly wanted the last episode to reveal that’s he’s not actually gay but everyone in the village actually was
That would had been hilarious
Soon be I’m the only heterosexual in the village how everything is going 😂
3:48 🤣🤣🤣 This will always be god tier comedy
The fact that he says"A gay" had me in stitches. 😂
The majority of the people in this ended up in Gavin and Stacey
Why is this how I want to behave towards my family at any gathering 🤣 "oh I can't lift it I'm gay"
I thought the guy in the thumbnail was Gordon Ramsay sitting at a desk wearing a medieval uniform with a ruff while leaning forward smiling and a guy just standing over him looking at him.
only a gay man could write, and greatly perform, such great gay jokes
I want to wear all of these outfits, I think Im gay
AHAHAHHAHAHA
Ruth Madoc saying arse action. Genius
Thanks more please
The actors are fenomenal!..Brilliant!
I love all the gay jokes.
1:58 kills me everytime without fail
haha so hilarious, although there are too many clichés I just love it.
“We did have an inkling” I use it so much with that accent.
Ironically Daffyd might actually be the only straight man in the village
In the 2nd clip where David Walliams is playing the hairdresser there was a point where he laughed and I immediately remembered the Joker from the original Batman tv series.
