Do you have a link to a place I can find this display chip. My particular model number is CFEF388WCC-1
Satisfiying job when you see the finished result!
Thank you! Yeah we have been getting a lot of dim display repair requests since the last oven controler board repair we did and I didn't even know this was that common of an issue in the past but it seems to be very common.
good job, Im impressed spare displays are availaballe to buy
Yeah took a bit to find some. They are very hard to find and very expensive, but they are available. Well for now at least.
Good Video, Where is the best source for vacuum florescent displays "VFD" ? I come across a lot of bad ones during service calls.
Chinese retailers is the only place I can find them for a descent price. And even then, they are still very expensive.
Do you have a part number for the display in the video? @@NicksTVRepair
We have that exact problem with our display . . . and possibly the dirty screen as well. 🙂
If you want to try and fix it yourself, let me know the model of your unit and I will let you know if we have the display for it for sale. If you don't want to try and fix it yourself and we do have that display, you can always send it in for repair as well. Our service is not just of the display, we also perform other repairs and replace other parts that are near their end of life before they fail to ensure our repairs last as long as possible.
@@NicksTVRepair Thanks Nick. My soldering skills peak at XT60 connectors. LOL I will indeed keep you in mind if I cannot find the complete unit. It's a Frigidaire FEF389WJCB.
I don't know that these are still available for sale but if you find a source for them let me know!
I wonder what percentage of control board problems are actually caused by the use of the self-clean feature.
That is a good question. I wonder at what rate the self-clean may or may not accelerate the degredation of certain parts in the oven.
Any idea where i would get the VFD (7-lt-91g futaba)? Thanks :)
We have them for sale on our website

However unless you are very good at soldering and do it on a daily basis I would not recommend you attempt this on your own. I make it look easy but that is because I have 10 years experience soldering.
So far everyone that has tried soldering the replacement display has had problems. This is not a beginer repair. You also need proper soldering equipment, the sub $100 soldering irons you buy at Ace or home depot are usually not good enough to do these kinds of jobs.
This is why we offer the service.
My Sony Bravia tv made a popcorn sound and went off. I found out that the AC adapter got burned, I bought another ac adapter but my tv won't turn on. Please what could be the problem? Did the burned adapter affect my TV?
I don't know, I don't have enough information. I would need pictures of the supply board, information regarding the model number of your TV and so on.
Are you able to take voltage measurments?
Might be best to reach out to us directly via email with all that information
I'd like to take this repair on myself, but should I be concerned about any HV capacitors on the control board? A brighter display isn't worth getting zapped. :-)
Unless you plan on doing this repair with the unit still connected to power, which obviously don't do that, then no there are no high voltage capacitors on the board you need to be concerned about.
Having good soldering equipment makes all the difference. Hakko is so damned $$$$$
It's a bit pricey but it's really worth it, especially if it's a tool you use everyday.
