    What are your questions about buying or selling real estate in Costa Rica in 2024?

    • @Kattywagon29
      @Kattywagon29 11 месяцев назад

      Q: In terms of buying real estate for residency purposes, (as in it has to be worth $150k) how do you avoid overpaying for a property? For instance, I might see a property online for a certain price, but it might not appraise that way and could then fall short of what is needed for residency.
      Q: How do we avoid being Gringo priced for property? I am from the States but that doesn't mean I am made of money. My mom plans to retire here, but she doesn't want to spend all of her savings on a house and then have nothing to live on comfortably.

      @@Kattywagon29 - I don't believe there are gringo prices. The cost of housing in certain areas has gone up for sure, and in particular for dwellings that appeal to expats in terms of style, amenities, etc. What you need is a quality realtor that truly understands what you are looking for and can help find that. It may mean compromising on amenities, or location - or being ok with the price and the location.

    Great video guys! I’ve just subscribed and I’ll be watching as you post, thank you! I’ve been in Nicaragua the past four years and am in the process of opening a new factory to build guest homes in Costa Rica. I look forward to our paths crossing, for now I’ll be happily watching and learning from the pros! Thanks again

    I waited a month before I viewed this so I could be my most rational/objective self. Ivo Henfling is certainly the right person to do your first interview with, especially if the focus is on Costa Rica's real estate market that caters to "expats." The discussion has lots of sage advice, especially for someone that is a newbie to the "Pura Vida" way of life. However, there is a dark side to the real estate market here, which wasn't acknowledged except briefly ("It's easy to buy a property in Costa Rica but much more difficult to sell). I'll address this directly to you in an email, and then you can decide if any of my points are worthy of a second video. Pura Vida.

    I pay 75,000 colones a week for a room in San Jose only a mile from Sabana Park. I was paying 15,000 colones a day in La Fortuna. This room in San Jose is better, except for the location. The room is good enough for a perpetual traveller.

    13:24 Yes! I was watching another gringo video about
    Costa Rica and those two had the lamest excuses for not learning Spanish. I was shocked because I learned Spanish while living in San Jose.

      that drives us crazy - when in a country, there's ZERO reason not to learn and adapt to the language, culture, etc. If not, why be here?
