Filipinos has a lot of programmers and many of them work outside Philippines because there no jobs in the country. that is not right. I would say! the progress of the country it will depends on what kind of leaders you have. DU30's leadership is phenomenal! The people power revolution in the 80s really took a heavy toll in the economy of the PHIlippines. years of double digit negative growth plus the eruption of Mt Pinatubo , then the ASian financial crisis , crisis after crisis starting from Cory's people power. It took about two decades to come out of that . So really the PHils only made significant progress starting around 2010's . IF you can have political stability in the future years you should be able to grow 6% plus for another decade then you will see more drastic improvement, but the covid is trying to put an end to that.

Remember Phils was colonized for four hundred years and badly damaged in psyche because of what these colonizers inflicted on the people that natives are inferior to the colonizers . And then the Cory years effect two decades of neglect really compounded the damage. You neglect the children's education, infrastructure , agriculture the future will suffer. There are growing pains for a young country. The new generation must not repeat and learn from history . I credit Duterte for spearheading a change.

The country is still decades away. Maybe another 50+ years. Just need more infrastructure. Only one airport hub(NAIA), with its one runway and the 4 terminals are very congested. Water and power shortage in the rest of the country, more roads and highways, mass transport systems, trains are practically non existent except in MM, going to the provinces via bus is so 3rd-world. The government has never thought about connecting the whole of Luzon or Mindanao cities via train networks?? High-speed internet is also very slow - the slowest in the world - fiber optic and cable are practically non-existent. If you only go to BGC and Makati, the country looks good, but 99% or the rest of the country is not, is very undeveloped.

PH government must invest and enhance R&D in Science and Technology like South Korea before South Korea was one of the poorest country in Asia but now they are developed country because of R&D in science and technology and filipinos would have a choice to live and work in the PH instead of necessity.

There is no point of creating a corrupt system if those on the inside can't get rich.
The country is still decades away. Maybe another 50+ years. Just need more infrastructure. Only one airport hub(NAIA), with its one runway and the 4 terminals are very congested. Water and power shortage in the rest of the country, more roads and highways, mass transport systems, trains are practically non existent except in MM, going to the provinces via bus is so 3rd-world. The government has never thought about connecting the whole of Luzon or Mindanao cities via train networks?? High-speed internet is also very slow - the slowest in the world - fiber optic and cable are practically non-existent. If you only go to BGC and Makati, the country looks good, but 99% or the rest of the country is not, is very undeveloped.
