It's funny that the reviewer never mention that this is from Team Ninja. The game is literally a Nioh Final Fantasy game... They use the NIOH engine.

There is something wrong with the graphics. Lots of blurring. Nioh is a lot sharper and cleaner than this. Definitely a problem with the game itself.

Unlike FF and JRPGs in general... The story and characters are an afterthought. There are no towns to explore. No world map. The game plays like a Team Ninja ARPG, NOT at all like a Square JRPG. It just borrows themes and music from FF. That's it.

For anyone concerned about last-gen performance, don't worry. While it definetly runs better on next-gen, it runs fine on my base PS4. Just remember to turn performance mode on and motion blur off.
Can't wait to play, really enjoyed the demo. Love how stupidly edgy the story felt.

Same. It’s a perfect mix for me of genuinely fun gameplay and a so bad it’s good story, with entertaining characters to keep me hooked. Might wait for the price to go down from $60 but I’m excited to play it eventually

Being that i’m following the story with Japanese dialogue, the story doesn’t feel edgy or cheesy at all.

This game desperately needs a new game+ it gave me chaos not being able to rewatch some of those awesome fight scenes and cinematics, I have no issue with the game I absolutely love it

Hmmm, that actually sounded much more positive than I was epecting
I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy, I have the feeling they wanted to bring the old elements (fire, ice, wind etc) back into play in a meaningful way as previous titles have somewhat pushed it aside. And at the same time they have added the more and more common fast paced action and mixed it all in a blender.
To me, it looks fun to play, but I can't really understand how bad the story/plot/lore seems to be. I hope I am wrong, but I think it will pan out just as I imagine at this moment.
I am in love with the Dark Souls series and Elden Ring is a great game, it reminds me a lot of that, but much more linear since it follows a story.
I just hope they re-visit and tune back the fast paced action when the real FF comes out, so I can enjoy the story they have been so extraordinary good with making earlier, and I am thinking of FF7 all the way to 10 and somewhat 12.
It kind of lost some of its magic when Lightning came along (13) for me, I dunno. I just never enjoyed it as much since 10 or 12.
But I will try out Stranger of Paradise, it looks fun to play, and I could be in for a surprise.

@@godofsin4604 a year later this person avoids your smart question 😂. Let me answer for you in 2024 era. This person didn’t do the jobs or side quests. They just impatient and typically go linear.
The reviwer doesnt mention that Team Ninja picked up Nioh engine and made a FF from it.
That dinamic of play is from Nioh not FF.
The biggest problem the final fantasy franchise has is Cloud Strife. After the massive success of FF7 the franchise slowly but surely began to turn all its protagonists into Cloud clones. FF9-12 escape this faith but since then. Everyone is all moody and emo. Bring back fan light heart protagonists like Zidane and Tidus!
Zidane was 9 and TIdus was 10.

But Square didn’t realized the magnitude of Clouds Popularity until all the compilations of FF7 (FF7 Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, Before Crisis, etc) came out. By that time FF9 and FF10 were out and it gave them backward vision. Instead of looking to the future and experimenting with different protagonists. They decide to just turn Cloud female by creating lightning or make him a selfish moody brat like Noctis. All the Cloud clones even have name’s deriving from the natural world. Squall, Lightning, Warrior of light, Noctis while the none Cloud clones have more normal sounding names, Zidane, Tidus, Vaan. I bet this new protagonists in FF origin is going to be another Cloud clone. Even though is name is Garland he is another Warrior of Light. And he will be whining about something instead of enjoying life like Zidane!
@@DreamFearEternal They really didn't though. Lightning is deliberately an homage to Cloud, and Squall shares traits but is fairly different as a character. Noctis is nothing like Cloud. Ace and Machina are nothing like Cloud.
Garland is nothing like Cloud. Lann and Reynn are especially nothing like Cloud.
My favorite protagonist is actually from the Wii game Crystal Bearers. Arrogant and fun. The story didnt take itself too seriously. Everyone was just having fun and for some reason I really like the game
Nah Zack is way more liked than Cloud. The Strangers of Paradise is just a test ground for FFVI.

The people that will like this are the people that actually understand this is coming from ninja Gaiden and nioh. It's not dark souls.

FF origin is a new series of FF. They will like follow this with FF2,4,5,6 if the formula work. It is, however, giving a lot of contexts to the ff franchise a whole.
Just wait for the next on this series. They will explain more about the stuff in the future. It’s a parallel story that written in the perspective of villains or counter hero. They haven’t done anything like this since the original version of the ff so a lot of characters aren’t explaining or things that they might deal with
Demo was really fun but the performance was baffling. Low res, frame drops all over the place, random pre-rendered scenes, random in game scenes, runs at 60fps with multiple characters in the shot until the camera cuts away to a single character and crashes down to the 20s. and so on.
I'm down for a discount purchase or if the PC version is better than PS5, but the FF tax here in Japan makes this game too expensive to jump on day one for me in its current state.
I also heard u can't cure poison is that true?
There are only 2 ways to remove status effect. Monk skill (Chakra) and Save Point. Potion is the only useable "item" in combat. There is no such thing as Antidote, Smoke Screen, Gold Needle, etc, like other FF games.
This is the FInal Fantasy of Souls games.
Unlike nioh this game has easy settings so thumbs up from me, sometimes these games have to much items and combo's and I don't bother delving too much into builds, as long as whatever weapon I'm using is strong enough to take enemies down in 2 to 3 blows is good enough for me. Graphics are under par but passable on the ps5. Prob wait for sale which will probably have afew patches by then👍
I’m getting tired of impulse buying games thinking I will like them and I end up not liking them! Next time I will wait until the game comes out and wait until the RUclipsrs put out review videos like this one before making that big purchase! With that said I’m still excited for FF16 and Verum Rex !

@@raiveresterok unfortunately I missed the slot window for the first demo! And I didn’t know they were going to put out another demo before the game released. I wish I could have played the demo first and than decided if this game was for me or not. But oh well what’s done is done.

The game play looks ok… but the story seems none existing really.
I played like 40 or 50 hours of Elden and tbh, story seems nonexistent too. This seems easier to follow than that so it's whatever if the gameplay is good enough. Didn't try the demo to guage though
Man the demo is really fun to play but i'll buy it later after finishing elden ring and horizob forbidden west.... and im still playing GT 7....besides next week ghostwire tokyo will be a must buy for me..so i'll wait a sale.
I think its strongest point is the combat and job system. The actual story and cut scenes is a mess and they've made it all so disjointed and vague, it's hard to be invested in the characters problems in any way lol. I'm also not a fan of the way they segmented areas into missions, so there's no ability to explore the world like previous ff games. It makes it all feel extremely linear, like you're playing a game on rails.
Also the main character Jack is a bit of a tool 😂
I found some of the stuff in this review to be completely contradictory to my experience so far but altogether some of the larger themes of the story being pretty meh but the systems and combat being good are spot on. Like, not sure how this dude is getting lost in the incredibly simple levels lol
He's a games journalist. Part of the interview process must be making sure that they don't have the slightest idea how to play videogames.

I just played the demo and the demo crashed on me. I was going to give it a chance but it's looks like Square Enix doesn't want to play there game. How can I trust that this game is good when the demo crashes when you play it.
Actually it's GOW fish! I don't like how Square enix telling what I can or cannot stream.
It’s not graphically next gen amazing nor is it groundbreaking but it is a FUN GAME and it works which is the most important thing when it comes to gaming why is everyone is so cynical now a days lol
Because people are tired of mediocre games it's not like they're all free, it cost money and why waste it on something that's mediocre

Why do you blatantly lie in the part where you call it part remake/part reimagining? It's neither of those, it is quite literally a prequel to Final Fantasy 1 and ends where Final Fantasy 1 begins, it's literally an origin story of the main antagonist of Final Fantasy 1.

Just because a game is a third person arpg doesn't make it a souls-like, even nioh is pushing it... But this most DEFINITELY is not a souls-like, if you think it is you are catagorically wrong and are showing how little you know about the souls series.

Why does every game want to be a Souls-like? As somebody who isn't a huge fan of the genre, it's getting a little frustrating too see just every cool looking game being a Souls-like nowadays. I know this is the team being Nioh... but still.
Waaay too many particle effects that are just not blended very well into the scene.

Think of it as being in the universe but not actually a final fantasy game and you will see a game for what it is. A fun distraction from the wars and death around us in the real world. People get so serious about fun games because they aren’t another game they once played.

SO glad they let me play the demo go check it out asap. If they didn’t have a demo for this I would of cried. Also great soundtrack had Frank Sinatra playing. I won’t buy, but it is WORTH it. More than 97% worth of games these days. Be confident. And make your purchase
It looks like a mixed reaction from everyone.. the graphics needs some work done.. if they could just made it like FF7R graphics I bet it will fare better.. I hope they'll have a patch on it..
I'm genuinely surprised by how bad the demo's graphics were on a PS4 Pro. Square has just given us KH3 and FF7R which are gorgeous looking, Team Ninja makes the DOA games (I haven't played Nioh so I can't comment on it's visuals) which have always been graphically impressive, and the two companies even collaborated already with the clean and polished Dissidia NT. Why on earth are they struggling so hard now?

@@pokeslob Doa isn't all that graphically impressive, they focus on character models and that's it. Nioh isn't a bad looking game but also not impressive either. This isn't much of a shock seeing it came from them. If the FFVII team wasn't working on pt2 and they did this instead, it absolutely would look amazing. But this is what happens when you outsource. It's why, despite Nier Automata being an amazing game, it had those random streaming freeze moments and such, while being a complete mess on PC. Outsourcing. It seems Square doesn't necessarily outsource to the best choices for the quality expected from them. When they do things internally, you know they'll always atleast look good
Yeah this game is never gonna look like FFVII Remake. This is using the Nioh engine from Team Ninja. Its just really not an engine known for producing impressive visuals
I still have hope for this game.. but yeah y'all correct.. if ff7r part 2 is not on the works definitely they will work on this.. I suppose its already there.. if they could just make it graphically pretty like Nioh 2, I'm pretty sure this will be a hit.. or not really a hit but one of the good ones.. 😊😊😊
I think they took the wrong game to actually compare it... I think they should have compared it to Nioh 1 and 2 and those games should not eb considered Souls games but rather its own world of gameplay and such... Because yes they are hard but they ressembled more of the Ninja Gaiden series in difficulty, both NES and 3D ninja gaiden games... I mean even the mission structure and loot system is totally like Nioh...

@@shinkounova8485 This is from the nioh and ninja Gaiden developers. So this is the same engine that made nioh. Demons souls remake is made by bluepoint who have an amazing engine that's way better than from softwares engine which is why it looks better than even elden ring. Elden ring is the same engine that from software has used since demons souls on ps3.
