If Team Ninja take their amazing combat style development and partners up with a company that is known for their level designs and writing we could have one of the best games of all time.

You can hold triangle and move the cursor up and down to select everything you pass. It's so much faster. Also you can target magic by targeting enemies with r3
Not to mention you can use the "filter" option. I got everyone's gear to 25 in the demo, reached 500 items, sorted by level, filtered and selected all weapons, unchecked equipped gear and everything 22 and higher, then dismantled. Did the same for armor and suddenly I had 109 items and a lot of crafting mats in less than 1 minute. This was way faster than Nioh 1 and 2 dismantling where I would spend around 10 minutes in the menu.
@@sumireravenclaw8034 Yeah just checked again to confirm R3 on the menu where you select the type of gear you want. Cycles through new, physical attack, magic attack, equipment level, job affinity, and type. You can also show all the weapons by scrolling with L2 and R2 to different categories of weapons. If you want all weapons there is a grid icon on that bar so you see all of the weapons instead of just 1 category. Another fun fact is if you save a preset (under main menu on world map or menu at save point) it has an icon that looks like 2 small diamonds to let you know it is a piece of equipment in a preset. I always lock what I am using to make sure if I purge everything, the important things say. Also this is a long response, but I just wanted to be thorough.
@@SaumitraBose there were more variables to look for though, and looking for something that fits your build gets a little tough. Much earlier than I expected. I think if you have battles every two feet, it's better to just have the level music be battleish, or have the level music build up during battles or something.
I feel like they should have gone with a battle theme that seamlessly rises out of the area theme, then recedes once the battle is over. The music never stops playing or hard cuts into a change, it just rises and falls with the action. They did something like that in Drakengard 3 and it worked quite well.

"this is as good of a combat system that this kind of game can probably get" Thats pretty high praise. I might try this game out then, if its really that close to perfect.
From what this vid shows, I think this game would have been better if it didn't have "final fantasy" in the title - the title set expectations that shouldn't have been there

Exactly how the demos made me feel; a good job/combat system in search of a better game to be part of. I'll still play it when I can get it cheaper, which probably won't be that long. Let's face it, most of us are in the middle of better games to play right now to spend any time on this.
Not really a workaround but for magic selection you can also use square/triangle to cycle through them, still feels off but its an alternative to the default
Usually, when a publisher opts to publish solely to the Epic game store, I'm skeptical to the game's quality. Publishers usually only do that because Epic does not give gamers the ability to rate the game. Looks like this game proves that theory true once again.
2:50 literally no differentiation. Only difference is what weapon you use, and the same weapon plays the same no matter what class you select. The passive and 'core skill' don't matter that much.
Game development is absolutely not simple. I just wish developers would focus more on level design at times. What's the hurry? Games like Ashes of creation or Elden Ring are proof a large amount of consumers are willing to wait for quality.
Everyone is complaining about empty rooms, meanwhile im glad that we have a game without clutter everywhere. Its already hard to follow the action of Team-Ninja games, why would you want to have even more distractions on screen? Gameplay first-looks second
I just finished the Trial version last night & enjoyed it overall! I didn't think I'd like it at all when I saw the control scheme but to my surprise was comfortable with it! There's still a few things I don't understand but sure I can get answers online but I'm definitely getting it somewhere along the line!
Graphically, this game looks both great and horrible, which made me realize: This game is the PS4 version of what Operation Raccoon City was on the PS3, as it was simultaneously gorgeous and hideous by 2012 standards when it was released. Or, alternately, this looks like a modern-day Drakengard game (that is, like a PS4 version of Drakengard 1 & 2, as I heard 3 didn't really resemble the others)
I'm impressed you didn't mention Dark Souls at all. Lots of people have called this the Final Fantasy Dark Souls, and... well I can see some VERY superficial similarities (targetting system, checkpoints that refill your health) but it doesn't feel like a DS game at all so it felt a bit misleading once I finally played the game... good thing its still hella fun in its own right.
all true but I am having a lot of fun with this one! Frankly I am not a FF guy - my fav would probably be Type 0 and Zodiac - but this diabloesque version is super addictive I cannot stop playing. Yes performance mode.. plot etc are crap but there is something addictive about this... Also the patch automated most inventory management.
I'll get it at $20 bucks or so. Demo felt fun. It has pretty extreme edge lord protagonist but it has a weird hidden gem charm because some lines are hilarious . Full price will probably disappoint some but wait a bit and it will be good enough on sale
I'm glad it's a wait, simply because there's too much to play right now and I'm already way behind on time. Elden Ring takes the time I do have to play, and haven't even got back to HZD which I started, so gonna have to get to that after Elden. That's gonna keep me busy for a good while. Not to mention backlog. So I'm kinda hoping for delays right now lol, it sucks having to skip titles you really want to check out cause you just can't play them all. Was gonna say Forspoken coming soon but that got delayed, works for me.
Honestly I think jobs were always the most fun thing about Final Fantasy combat. Like yeah it's cool having Cecil go from Dark Knight to Paladin in terms of story but what if I just want a whole team of Dragoons to be constantly leaping up and raining hell down on the enemy? FFIII on the DS was incredible, slowly unlocking new jobs and more powerful moves was great...or just going with what's COOL. I don't care if there's the white sage or whatever for the best white magic or the stronger version of the black mage, Red Mages just look too damn cool for me to care. It's a damn shame more games don't have that kind of system, yeah sure you get different classes pretty often but usually you pick one at the start and can never change it or it ends up only really amounting to what abilities you have at the start and nothing more. Being able to adjust it so you can have whatever team combination you want is endlessly cool. Such as having one unstoppable badass and 3 healers to make him literally invincible.
Have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV? With an expanded free trial which you can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 for free with no restrictions on playtime?
That's why I get games at Walmart because they don't usually charge $60 pn new games. Mostly $49 when they come out. It's a good tip always check Walmart I'm sure this will be $49 :)
I'm not surprised that the environments would be bad. It's Team Ninja, their level design in Nioh isn't exactly stellar. It's a shame too because the core gameplay of something like Nioh is pretty damn good.
Yeah this is great option for most players, just the fact that theres difficulty options as well shows this game is versatile for anyone interested in playing it.
Really glad they put a demo out, otherwise I would have blown 60$ on this thing. It really does look like end of ps3/early ps4 era and the voice acting is like a japense dubbed movie from the 1950s. The emtpy worlds and boring reused halways and caves are mechanics from 2 generations ago, its time to move on developers. Otherwise don't charge us full price for this stuff, when you have giant sweeping worlds like elden ring/horizon in the past month, this looks like a budget title. Thanks ACG as always, telling it how it is. Man, the resolution of the demo too was something to laugh at, I thought my TV was broken, inexcusable in the era of gaming were in right now.
You could put 5 random Team Ninja games in a cup, shake them up and knock them out, and get a Yahtzee every time. That being said, they always look like fun.
The Nioh games had the exact same problem with loot. While I loved those games, the loot management aspect was awful. It really didn't need to be like Diablo in that way. Also, the action casting of a spell user seems pretty good in this game, despite its flaws. Seems like the second-best option to the god-tier game in that regard known as Dragon's Dogma. Having said that, I can wait for a sale. Still finishing up Elden Ring anyway, and I might even do another playthrough. Plus, I'll be getting Tiny Tina's Wonderland when that arrives, so maybe when I'm done with both this will be 30% off.
I was posting on the resolution on reddit after the demo dropped. I compared it to the borderline PSP resolution and people were telling me it's something wrong with my PS5/TV because it looks good on their TV's xD
The demo was more fun than I thought the game would be, but I'll probably wait on a sale since I'm still running through Elden Ring and Triangle Strategy. This game coming out so close to Elden Ring was a mistake. Great review as always.
No, I don't think it was a mistake. You'll get some overlap for sure, but mostly, these are completely different games, with different fans. Nioh 2 still to this day has a big community, and a large portion of that group: a) have been looking for a game to sate that feel, and b) don't like Elden Ring's combat. Plus, many people are gonna be one and done with ER, and they'll be looking for something else. Don't get me wrong, I personally agree with you, but from what I've seen, I think they're gonna get their target audience.
Well this day from day one screamed a 'Wait' Looks like a fun lil' bit of romp, with hopefully some meme-worthy moments in there, maybe a cheeky plot-twist or two. But definedly not a full-priced game, absolutely.
Fighting and mastering all the FF jobs are what I'm in for. Me and my friends played through the demo like mad man nonstop, laughing at the cut scenes and Jack' boner for CHAOS!
Good thing I cancelled my pre-order on this because the demo was cool and combat felt nice but man I feel this game is worth 40 bucks at least so I'm definitely gonna wait on this. Thanks for the review Karak.
Something I'm surprised seems to only be an issue for me is the terrible on-boarding experience? They throw SO many mechanics at you so quickly I don't feel like I had time for them to sync in... feel like they parry and soul parry thing should have been slowly introduced and rolled out as I played rather than just throwing me into a big arena and forcing tutorials. I feel like I'm not really learning the deeper mechanics as so much get thrown at me at once. Even Elden Ring with its deep mechanics is smart enough to slowly introduce it's various mechanics like Spirit Summons, Ash's of war. Hell they dont even bother unlocking levelling up until you've gone through enough of the game and got familiar with your current build... this game just vomits everything up - and there's a lot to take in here Combat wise and for me, it felt overwhelming. Still enjoying the hell out of it but damn, this game doesn't do itself any favours.
Well, whatever Team Ninja does next, I hope they incorporate some ideas from this and combine it with Nioh to make something of their own again. It's a shame about the technical issues and boring level design, really.
Yea but that is the closest to FF1. Most ppl probably don’t remember how FF1 like. It’s not that different within the action part. But surely time will tell since dlcs are there to fix it.
Square enix really needs to slow down on releasing new games because the graphics are really rough. Look at the last game at the state of play. It looked bad graphically but still 2022 release date. We don't need ff7 remake graphics but just a more modern graphics would be nice.
i finished the game a few minutes ago. i am so grateful i stuck with it . don't sleep on this amazing, amazing game. the story is actually realty good. (i'll post this on all videos i can find)
Good review as always ACG . Although i get your critique , for me its still worth a day one purchase.. bland maps / areas were somewhat expected to be honest, as i never found the Nioh games to have particularly good area layouts anyways. But combat seems to be as fun as ever and thats truly the most important part in these types of games in my opinion , so i imagine there will still be plenty of fun to be had. Thats not to say though, They could really up their game on the stages. If they are getting that right too , i think they can really start to make some true gems , and not just good but forgettable games :)
if they have ff type 0 style of elemental attack, attack=fire, push forward+attack=ice, pull back+attack=lightning, casting elemental magic would be smoother
this game doesnot feel like final fantasy game.... lack of exploration, interaction with npcs, quest, open world.... more like nioh body with final fantasy clothing. I like final fantasy, I like nioh, but combining them this way is not what I personally like. Combat is beautiful, but sense of final fantasy game is not really there

the combat is really fun but the graphics and the level design really hurt this for me.. and the hairs on cutscenes my god those are an eyesore
Y the level design tho ?
It's not really that bad so faf
The combat and flow and loot really reminds me of nioh. And I think that can be a really good thing for it
Wasn’t expecting an AEW reference in an ACG review of a Final Fantasy game. Life is wild.
Definitely agree with the rating! Only reason I'm getting this day 1 is that it's so much fun to play with friends despite all the performance issues
The thing I'm most looking forward is for the dialogue if it is like the one in the Demo for the rest of the game I'm happy.
That ps2 kinda writing is what i am hoping for in this game
That ps2 kinda writing is what i am hoping for in this game
That would be... Phenomenal
"this is as good of a combat system that this kind of game can probably get"
Thats pretty high praise. I might try this game out then, if its really that close to perfect.
idk its like saying tic tac toe also has the best combat system it can possibly get
It really is great. They somehow blended in Nioh mechanics with Final Fantasy concepts really well. The gameplay is top tier for sure
@@boobalooqwe4687 tic tac toe is one game, not a genre tho
When he said "this kind of game" he was probably referring to arpg as a genre
@@boobalooqwe4687 go play darksouls and nioh before you cry
I'm still getting the game day one but I also 100% agree with you on everything.
Same. Played the demo and thoroughly enjoyed myself in spite of its glaring flaws, but ACG is 1000% on point here
How can you agree with him if you haven't played the game yet
@@dtanobo don’t know if you know this, but there is these things called demos…
@@EclipseHighroller yeah but a demo isn't a full game so I couldn't agree with *everything* he said lol
From what this vid shows, I think this game would have been better if it didn't have "final fantasy" in the title - the title set expectations that shouldn't have been there
You're energy is that of someone who is int the middle of 5 tasks and just needs to complete this to get it over with
I know what the answer was to "Do we put the finishing touches on the environments then optimise performance or just ship and go get wasted?"
Team Ninja really are the best at combat systems, deep and varied, fast and frenetic.
-_- bro.....thats what makes this game even worse its the worse team ninja has ever done combat so thats not a good thing team ninja should whip themselves
🧢
@@joshuaknox2724 The video seems to disagree, and it's definitely not as bad as Ninja Gaiden 3 from anything I'm seeing.
"The Best"? Lol that is very subjective, imo they have not release anything good enough to be considered for that title.
Platinum Games (specifically Hideki Kamiya) is the best. Team Ninja is definitely second-best.
I played the demo and i really liked it. Level design def could use improvement but overall, I had a lot of fun and preordered it for Xbox.
Poor man's Nioh for Xbox gamers 🤺
@@Walamonga1313 who cares? Nioh ain’t that great. Go play godawful and babylons fall probably the 2 worst games the past few years both Sony exclusives lmao ✌️

The demo swung me after burning out hardcore on elden ring. went all in on it. loved the hell outta the demo
Same
A reviewer said this game is similar to lost and will all tie at the end. I really enjoyed the final demo and messing around with the job system
The TV series? I'm in!
They really said it’s like ‘Lost’ the TV series? How is that?
Lost was hot garbage.
So in other words, the level design is.....CHAOS
Behave
Yes it is Chaos.
I’m so getting this on day one of the $20 sale.
Lmfao $30 is a more realistic sale price atm lol
Everyone's name being 4 characters or less from FF1 was a nice touch.
Sophia is 6. I guess you didn't get that far.
Exactly how the demos made me feel; a good job/combat system in search of a better game to be part of. I'll still play it when I can get it cheaper, which probably won't be that long. Let's face it, most of us are in the middle of better games to play right now to spend any time on this.
Spot on mate. Deffo wait for a sale with this one. Elden Ring is literally taking up all my gaming time for at least another few weeks
Not really a workaround but for magic selection you can also use square/triangle to cycle through them, still feels off but its an alternative to the default
Just checked and while not a workout perfectly this does help!
Have it preordered through Best Buy to get that steelbook, still gonna pick this up day one.
Usually, when a publisher opts to publish solely to the Epic game store, I'm skeptical to the game's quality. Publishers usually only do that because Epic does not give gamers the ability to rate the game. Looks like this game proves that theory true once again.
I watched a few minutes of a walkthrough and this game definitely looks like a 'wait for sale'.
i guess dark souls and nioh are both wait for sales
@@youtubeisracistx Maybe for you. What do those games have to do with this?
@@Hidden_lvl Team Ninja made the Nioh games and this game is basically Final Fantasy: Nioh
@@TheBlackKakashi Yeah but still two different games.
2:50 literally no differentiation. Only difference is what weapon you use, and the same weapon plays the same no matter what class you select. The passive and 'core skill' don't matter that much.
Glad to hear the combat is tight, nice review as always, Karack. I will deffo play this, one of my fave games is by the same developer, Ninja Gaiden.
Demo felt good, I'll keep an eye out for a sale
Game development is absolutely not simple. I just wish developers would focus more on level design at times. What's the hurry? Games like Ashes of creation or Elden Ring are proof a large amount of consumers are willing to wait for quality.
Ashes of creation 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Gloryclover You mean like every game ever released? Name a game that holds up every standard and I will go buy it right now.
Nothing kills immersion likr jack saying "i cant do this much longer" right after demolishing an entire room of enemies without taking damage😅
Jack was bored is what he meant
Excited but after coming from Elden Ring and even NIOH the UIs here look obnoxious, hopefully they aren't that bad while in game.
It looks like a huge backstep from the masterpiece Nioh 2
Everyone is complaining about empty rooms, meanwhile im glad that we have a game without clutter everywhere. Its already hard to follow the action of Team-Ninja games, why would you want to have even more distractions on screen? Gameplay first-looks second
Congrats you have been selected among our shortlisted winner of the ongoing giveaway, Contact the number above ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^✅.
I may get it just because it's made by Team Ninja. If they keep pumping out games with that nioh-like combat, I'll always be interested
I just finished the Trial version last night & enjoyed it overall! I didn't think I'd like it at all when I saw the control scheme but to my surprise was comfortable with it! There's still a few things I don't understand but sure I can get answers online but I'm definitely getting it somewhere along the line!
I loved the demo. I’m going to buy day 1. Love how data transfers over.
Like MOST demos do? Lol nothing new.
But will it unlock trophies/achievements that most likely come from those first parts?
@@NotCharAznable not all demos carry over.
The real question: is Jack a real chad ?
I read that it was great for what it does: it gives you a 90s protagonist.
I predict this game will be a hit among Nioh fans. Which means I'll probably love it.
Idk man. I like Nioh alot but this just looks like an easy mode Nioh with Final Fantasy spells
@@EpsiIonEagle no.... Its harder than nioh. But fair like souls/nioh. U will get good by the end if the demo

all true but I am having a lot of fun with this one! Frankly I am not a FF guy - my fav would probably be Type 0 and Zodiac - but this diabloesque version is super addictive I cannot stop playing. Yes performance mode.. plot etc are crap but there is something addictive about this... Also the patch automated most inventory management.
Im getting this day 1. Dont care. I love FF. And i love Nioh.
I would too, if I had a PS5 or good PC
If the shills are hating it means its an underrated gem like Dragon's Dogma.
This is a Koei Tecmo game.
It's never going on sale.
Wtf does lex luthor have to do with wrestling moves?
I'll get it at $20 bucks or so. Demo felt fun. It has pretty extreme edge lord protagonist but it has a weird hidden gem charm because some lines are hilarious . Full price will probably disappoint some but wait a bit and it will be good enough on sale
Brother it’s a Team Ninja game and if you’ve ever touched Nioh 2 you’d know they won’t disappoint at full price.
"extreme edge lord protag" lmao.
Not even close.
Make your own games then!
Love your reviews, brother!
I miss NInja Gaiden, I knew they gonna bring it back with just added RPG and good story.
Yeah it looked like a wait for sale title, especially when I have Elden Ring to still occupy me.
I'm not surprised that the environments would be bad. It's Team Ninja, their level design in Nioh isn't exactly stellar. It's a shame too because the core gameplay of something like Nioh is pretty damn good.
What a relief! I was worried I’d have to buy this game too. Looks like I’ll be waiting for this one to go on sale.
im playing this game and its pretty fun. just ignore the loot and use the auto equip function.
Thought it was only me 🤣🤣

You could put 5 random Team Ninja games in a cup, shake them up and knock them out, and get a Yahtzee every time.
That being said, they always look like fun.
Yep once I booted up the ps5 demo and seen the resolution on both modes I said nope. It looks rough and grainy so this is a pass unless they fix that.
I just past the big castle in elden ring, and games just don't stop coming out -_- where can you find the time to work and play and go out, etc
Fextralife and ACG scheduled uploads nice, should be very gaming informative day.
Chrispy? I agree 💯💯💯
Acg is the only one i agree and rush to his reviews
I love those crystal-infused finishers! Looks super satisfying
Nioh loot system worked perfectly from ng+2 or way of the demon tho
I agree, I love Nioh 1 but I never cared for the loot system. And I even platinum'd base game on PS4 and 100% everything on PC
You can’t sort through loot in this game
I was posting on the resolution on reddit after the demo dropped. I compared it to the borderline PSP resolution and people were telling me it's something wrong with my PS5/TV because it looks good on their TV's xD
Fanboys, one and all
It’s does depends on your tv
Thanks for the info. Definitely gonna wait for a sale - or at least I have a large variety of people to multiplayer with
I had trouble following the description of the combat systems but he just seems so excited
I loved nioh platined 1 and 2 but that Combat just doesn't click with me I don't know why I realy want to like that game but ... idk
Only guy I trust for reviews and you proved my worries about the game true. Thanks for saving me some coin my guy
The combat is what carries this game holy crap is it fun to play
Lol. The environments look just like Nioh 1's😝 This is EXACTLY what I wanted. Now, how long will this take to platinum?
I might pick this up but I'm still enjoying Elden Ring a ton so I might wait a bit.
I cry cant beat Tiamat i am very sad :(
The game is still beautiful
"If you ever you ever wondered if you wanted an arpg mixed with aew wrestling moves this reviews for you". Never thought I'd hear that sentence.
love the AEW mention.
ACG is ALL ELITE
Maybe it'll come to steam in a year, maybe I'll check it out then.
Well this day from day one screamed a 'Wait'
Looks like a fun lil' bit of romp, with hopefully some meme-worthy moments in there, maybe a cheeky plot-twist or two. But definedly not a full-priced game, absolutely.
Fighting and mastering all the FF jobs are what I'm in for. Me and my friends played through the demo like mad man nonstop, laughing at the cut scenes and Jack' boner for CHAOS!
Thanks for saying AEW and not WWE wrestling!! Love the vids as always
Awe. I was hoping for Bloodborne meets Final Fantasy. I'll probably get this when I've exhausted Elden Ring.
Imagine a final fantasy from soft game
It's on sale now. Only 25% off though 😕
Worth 30 bucks max lol
Well, whatever Team Ninja does next, I hope they incorporate some ideas from this and combine it with Nioh to make something of their own again. It's a shame about the technical issues and boring level design, really.
Yea but that is the closest to FF1. Most ppl probably don’t remember how FF1 like. It’s not that different within the action part. But surely time will tell since dlcs are there to fix it.
Maybe one day we could have a game with combat by Team Ninja and story by from, Nioh 2 still has the best combat from any souls-like.
Square enix really needs to slow down on releasing new games because the graphics are really rough. Look at the last game at the state of play. It looked bad graphically but still 2022 release date. We don't need ff7 remake graphics but just a more modern graphics would be nice.
There’s nothing wrong with the graphics besides the fuzziesness
Guessing you haven't played Nioh 2
i finished the game a few minutes ago. i am so grateful i stuck with it . don't sleep on this amazing, amazing game. the story is actually realty good. (i'll post this on all videos i can find)
Good review as always ACG .
Although i get your critique , for me its still worth a day one purchase.. bland maps / areas were somewhat expected to be honest,
as i never found the Nioh games to have particularly good area layouts anyways.
But combat seems to be as fun as ever and thats truly the most important part in these types of games
in my opinion , so i imagine there will still be plenty of fun to be had.
Thats not to say though, They could really up their game on the stages.
If they are getting that right too , i think they can really start to make some true gems ,
and not just good but forgettable games :)
if they have ff type 0 style of elemental attack, attack=fire, push forward+attack=ice, pull back+attack=lightning, casting elemental magic would be smoother
this game doesnot feel like final fantasy game.... lack of exploration, interaction with npcs, quest, open world.... more like nioh body with final fantasy clothing. I like final fantasy, I like nioh, but combining them this way is not what I personally like. Combat is beautiful, but sense of final fantasy game is not really there
