Judgement is a spin-off of the Yakuza series and that's perfectly fine with me. I'm a huge fan of the Yakuza franchise, which makes this game a definite must buy. Graphically, the game looks great thanks to the Dragon Engine. The voice acting is sold with the option to switch over to Japanese dialog. The combat is fun and over the top. The story seems to be pretty good as well. The stealth sections can be tedious. The sections where you need to have several objectives in a single photo can be annoying, especially due to the fact that the objectives change randomly. However, they don't detract from the overall experience whatsoever. Thanks Karak for another solid and detailed review. I really appreciate the hard work!
Leave it to you to reference Alan Shure from Boston Legal "Bad Police, Bad"! (actually that is from the last season of The Practice where they first introduced the character of Alan Shure) That was awesome! Thanks. I appreciate it.
Playing through this atm. Really enjoying being back in that world after playing all the mainline games. I can't get away with the English voice acting though, always play through in Japanese.
The Engish VA cast did so well, and they chose well for the characters. I felt it would be unfair to dismiss them just for the sake of purity and I'm glad I chose to let it ride. It gave me a chance to purely focus on the action on screen and find it a bit more relatable regardless of the difference in culture. I love the games regardless but I'm happy they are making sure to be meticulous about who is involved in the games. I want more people to see the beauty of these games and I know that the language barrier had been a turn off for some of my friends in the past so even if I got them hooked through a dub that then made them so invested that they didn't care whether the past games had one or not because they just NEEDED to go play them then good, I want that. I want more people playing, there's literally no reason to not want more options.
This is a new story with a new character, has nothing to do with Yakuza games, except that its happening in the same city, and there are some easter eggs for the ones who played those game.So yes ,you can play it.But if you want to play a Yakuza game, start with Yakuza 0.
Aside from there being a handful of tiny obscure references, this game has basically no content you'd need to know Yakuza to get. Even the yakuza families that the plot involves are never seen in the main Yakuza series.

“Must’ve been my imagination.”
I’ve never been attracted to the Yakuza series...but Judgement looks phenomenal.
Yeah it's 50 percent off in the psn store. Im gonna grab it.
I am away for work all this week, back early on Friday and given the rest of the day off... I know exactly what I am doing when I get home! Pumped!
Understand it's slightly more serious in tone but I hope they have crazy side stories..even the sleazy stuff from the yakuza games were good as it just stopped short of being mad..I hope this games has those fun side stories
12:38 It just goes to show you how easy it is to tail and stalk someone in real life, and how hard it is in video games.
Sounds like this game is running for the ACG game of the year 2019.
No ads in this video. Should I assume that your channel has been demoninitized? If so, that is unfortunate. ACG has the best reviews.
Ya sadly
The only reviewer I trust. Will definitely buy Judgement now 👍🏼
18:03 Is that Daniel Dae Kim?
I've never played a Yakuza game before, can I understand/enjoy the story since I know nothing about it?
This is a new story with a new character, has nothing to do with Yakuza games, except that its happening in the same city, and there are some easter eggs for the ones who played those game.So yes ,you can play it.But if you want to play a Yakuza game, start with Yakuza 0.
Aside from there being a handful of tiny obscure references, this game has basically no content you'd need to know Yakuza to get. Even the yakuza families that the plot involves are never seen in the main Yakuza series.
Damn and I am still playing Yakuza 0 :)
Same here! It's such a long and ridiculous series, but I love it! Just may take me years to finish it.
Finished in 63 hours
Never played Yakuza. What's best one to start with? Think I'll get this in a month or so if I like Yakuza
Just play this and then think about the others if you like it
Since what I see Judgment and Yakuza are quite similar, would you rather recommend for me Yakuza Zero or Judgment?
Judgment is newer and better. The fanbase won't admit that trust me.
What fighting game was that @1:11
There is a guy you have to catch and arrest for someone touching peoples asses.... It's fantastic.
While I might miss the criminal drama of this series, this is a most welcome entry regardless while we get to be the good guy this time.
Still waiting for the remasters of yakuza 3-5 and I know they have 3-4 remastered on PS4 already in japan.... Just waiting to be ported here.
It seems the enemies are not aggressive like attacking.
OK. Insta-buy for me. I love Yakuza. I love mystery games. Why am I here typing this and not playing this game right now?
Good Question!!!
As a huge yakuza fan I already bought it but came here anyway! Your vids are always top notch!
Tailing missions? Who got Assassins Creed in my Yakuza game? Also I want this game on PC really bad.
But I still have Yakuza Kiwami, Kiwami 2 and Fist of the North Star to finish. I can wait.
Does the game support HDR?
Did I hear a "The last dragon" reference
I am waiting release day for my copy that's for sure. Damn Tuesday Aus release date and not you know, for the weekend like the digital release today.
Can one turn off the lighting effects during combat? Breaks immersion in my opinion.
I just purchased this online on ps4 pro(becuase of your review), I did not buy sinking city and I don't think I will either in the future. Before this I purchased days gone, resident evil 2, read dead redemption 2,GOD of war. I did not buy battlefield V. We all have our unique taste for games. I have NOT purchased a sports game in like 10 to 15 years..lol
I did buy battlefield 1 when it came out. Played it for like 18 months strait. Most fun I have had in a while. It was the game that brought me back to gaming.. then the disaster of battlfield V came🤔
Hey acg are you doing a bloodstained ritual of the night review. Your reviews are credible and thorough. If so when can we expect to watch it. Thanks.
dont have it
@@ACGreviews thanks for the reply back. I asked them on discord directly to the 505 publisher person to send you a review code. Nonsense. Their loss I know a lot of gamers that look to you as a game analyst to make their choices.
Multiplayer mode? I was hoping you would touch on it due to the option for it being shown on psn store. Is it only for mini games or a versus combat type of deal?
Mini games
I've been looking for a Sleeping Dogs similar game and I've been thinking about buying this game ever since I saw it during E3. Kinda forgot about it till now that I saw it's on sale on PSN, I'm gonna get it
I remember the first time I came to your channel, oh boy, I did not understand what the hell you were talking about, but with time, I began to understand the way your Reviews work and your way of expressing the reviewed content with words.
Great review, and I'll be glad to buy it, because I am a huge Yakuza fan :) .
PS: Still, I have to focus to follow your review, otherwise, I'd lose track of what you're talking about, hahahahahaa.
Disappointed that the physical release isn't out until next week, but excited to jump in.
So if i buy if on psn its the 21
@@mary-lynetteallen2950 yeah get it tomorrow if you get it digital, you might have to preorder though
Well that settles it. Take my money Judgement!
Question is was this really needed as it's pretty much Yakuza with a new character?
Yes. More Yakuza is always needed, lol.
6 games it was going to eventually end, Yakuza. And if these types of games sell they are going to restart the series w a new character. No complaining from me, I love Yakuza. Plus.. his story ended in 6.
Shame it's console only.
The general feel of the story is legal suspence / film noir, something thats a first for Yakuza, new detective gameplay mechanics and a fresh cast, i'd say this is simply Judgment.
Man I wish the main character could dress up like Shizuo Heiwajima from Durarara! in bartender clothes lifting vending machines
I love your videos and your rating system is seriously helpful unlike many other reviewers.
Yes! I've been waiting for this review. I think it will be a hidden gem.
So hidden everybody interested by yakuza has known about it for months and even the playstation channels promote it pretty heavily lol.
@@timytimeerased le hidden jemm
@@timytimeerased Yakuza games started getting popular here like 2 years ago and it's still not something that everyone even knows about. This is a lesser known spin-off getting somewhat sneakily released at the end of a generation.
It might be an hidden gem just like Fist of the North Star. Yakuza 0 probably the only one that got a huge exposure, even Yakuza 6 was overshadowed by God of War. Kiwami 2 also quite underrated.
Hey Karak I’m curious and this is not related to this title, what is it called when in a game you pick something up and a shadow is left behind for a second? Serious question
Another great review ACG, i always appreciate your in depth analysis on everything, was waiting since yesterday when you would upload this!!
The game looks incredible
I love the series and this review was an icing on the cake
Cant wait for when my physical copy arrives!!
Hey mate, can you put the bullet pointed pros and cons at the end of the video like you used to?
Sometimes I do sometimes not. Just depends on how long I have
"Let's see if this is Magnum P.I or Castle" which one is meant to be the good one?
Great work as always! Now get me that review for "The sunken city" :)
Seems like a great game, too bad it's only available on PC though a shitty client (not saying that bc of the hype, Epic is pretty terrible from personal experience)
You can get the sinking city on Xbox
@@creationofroses90 I don't own an Xbox
@@Crazelord91 pirate until it comes to steam or just watch on RUclips I guess
Crazelord91 I'm sorry I didn't know
This game looks so clean on PS5. Started my playthrough a few days ago and everything looks amaing. The team who made the textures did an excellent job. Now I wish they pushed an HDR update to the game. It would look amazing running down Kamurocho at night with all those big bright signs
Hey, I'm struggling to choose to buy judgement or doom eternal. Which one do you think is best?
Question:
Which Yakuza games do I have to play to understand the story of this game??
None
It plays in the same world as the yakuza series but has nothing to do with its story and the charachters are different aswell.
Im ready for this tonight. Pre order on deck.
Because quantities are so limited...
How was the game?
M Giebus lol okay?
This game is really good haven't put it dpwn yet
@@CpTn_QwRk As in pre orders are obsolete and bad for the industry
Does this have anything to do with yakuza? Like do I have to play them to understand the plot or no? That's what's gonna determine if I buy or not
I had no idea this game was from the Yakuza creators. Instant buy for me
Weirdly.. this is the first RGGS game for me. I looked at this game in PSN and didn't know about RGGS were the ones making Yakuza series. It's only after playing this game i get to know about RGGS and this is the Yakuza spin off.
From there i played Fist of North Star: Lost Paradise, followed by Lost Judgment.
Then i started to play the Yakuza series from Y0.
You say “the series” sounds like “hey Siri” to my phone lol
