  • This is how I replace a window lift motor (Passenger side) in My 2002 Firebird Trans Am this applies to (93 - 02) Firebird & Camero with little different where the screws are located Check out shbox.com for still pics of the location of the 3 rivets that u need to drill out, tools you need : Drill, big & small size phillips screw driver,Flat head screw driver, 5/16" Drill bit to expose the 3 rivets, 3/16 drill bit to drill out the rivets, 9/32 socket to take out the 3 screws that hold the speaker, the 3 screws and locking nuts I replaced was 3/16 and 1/2 , sorry I said in the video 3/8 was a mistake, the thickness of screws does not have to be exact, but the length should not be more than 1/2 inch.

    Just did this. I did the driver's side about 3 years ago, and looked at this video to remind me where to drill the holes. Definitely the way to go. These people who freak out about drilling holes are stupid. Now when it inevitably fails again some day, it will be a 20 minute change out.

      I'm wondering if I can recondition the original one back to working order. It may just be seized from sitting for 25 years (mine only has 25k miles as it sits in storage mostly) i may plug up the connector holes and soak it in throttle body cleaner. Ill keep you posted! Is this yours?

    Just to help anyone out if you cant find 3/16 bolts and nuts. I fixed mine with 10-24 button head screws (allen wrench) that were 1/2 inch long with nylon locking nuts. Drill the holes with a 3/16 drill bit. Easily found at lowes or probably home depot as well

    What would happen to be the size of the new screws you installed with the locknuts? I thought you had said they were 3/8", but Lowe's didn't have any that size. I bought some 1/4-20 screws that I found. Anything bigger at Lowe's would have been a hex-head bolt.

    • @MicrosoulV3
      @MicrosoulV3 9 лет назад +2

      MsuJeffrey95 3/16 would be my guess. 3/8 is huge. I used 10-24 button head screws (allen wrench) that were 1/2 inch long with nylon locking nuts. get them at lowes

    • @JazzLowrider
      @JazzLowrider  9 лет назад +1

      MsuJeffrey95 it was 3/16 the size of drill bit and size of screws sorry I said in the video 3/8 that was a mistake, anyway the thickness of the screws does not have to be exact, but the length should not be more than 1/2".

    • @JazzLowrider
      @JazzLowrider  5 лет назад

      OEM Lasted 10 years, the replacement from Autozone Part # (Dorman 742-101 ) around $45.00 has a Lifetime Warranty.

    • @pancake191
      @pancake191 5 лет назад +1

      It's not the motor it's the voltage that sent to the passenger motor. The passenger side doesn't get a full 12v and prematurely kills the motor. You can go to autotrix and buy the fix for the passenger window going up and down slow. It's a relay kit for about $35

  • @awemqly
    @awemqly 10 месяцев назад +1

    i know this video is extremely old, but how would you go about the window not going up all the way? do you think its still a motor issue or an alignment issue? it rolls up extremely slow and stops about 1-2 inches before it gets to the top.

    • @JazzLowrider
      @JazzLowrider  10 месяцев назад +1

      It's probably a combination. Alignment and motor is dying, also it may need lubrication, its a heavy window, once you remove the motor try lifting the window with your hands,to see if its binding somewhere in the tracks, also check the track and rubber if its dry rotted it needs replacement maybe lubrication also any moving parts in windows mechanism, good luck.
