- Gibraltar - The Next Stop on our Month Long Motorcycle camping Tour of Spain and Portugal Lands us in the British Territory of Gibraltar.... Little Britain! Why would anyone come here on their Motorcycle tour or Trip? Our Honda Africa Twins do not seem to feel at home here next to the tiny scooters in the small streets But we have Travelled on our Motorcycles Touring across Europe and so another Stamp in the Passport is always welcome. The Gibraltar Rock is famous for the Monkeys, But this was not the Quiet place to relax we had in mind...

I was stationed in Gibraltar during the mid eighties. It was a mad place then, not as commercial as it is now. Your tales of Crocs has spurned me on to try some. Can't see how I ever managed without them 😁
You and me both mate! Crocs rock 🤘
That is a late time to setup your tent and especially at that time of night...
Must say it is a lot windy after you exit the tunnel by the seaside..
i would also not park my bike by that other bikes...
The onions and sausage would have gone well with a bun...
Thank you for showing us this episode....
Thanks for joining us, glad to have you on the road
I've just caught up with all the episodes I have missed whilst we've been away on our Ireland trip. These just keep getting better and better! I do wish I had your ability to just go and not book anything in advance, but I don't think my anxiety levels would let me do that. We found having all the hotels pre-booked in Ireland made our itinerary very rigid, but with the bank holiday weekend I think we would have struggled to find anywhere if we hadn't. Looking forward to the next installment!
On a bank holiday you did smart to book ahead but honestly never once have we not been able to find accommodation, these things always work out in the end
You completely missed the highlight of Gibraltar . . . . MORRISONS !!
🤣🤣 You are so right!
Morrisons for the only decent bacon supply outside of Benidorm and Albufeira 🐖😸👍
@@nikkihayes5411 I bet it’s full of brits who live in Spain
I was shocked at Gibraltar I assumed it would be a really nice place. Still enjoying watching your adventure look forward to the next episode.
It seems it has changed allot in recent years judging from the comments. We have some much nicer places coming up very soon though
it is a nice place but this guy is a nonce and doesn’t know how to travel and i’m talking as a gibraltarien
Thanks
Thanks so much for supporting the channel! 😃
Just a rock, but so important 😊
Well at least we can say we been there and done it
You two are having a epic adventure, so jealous of your trip, thanks for making the videos and taking us too ❤
We really are! A month on the road in a tent seemed like perhaps not our best idea but so far we are loving it overall
They have reclaimed a lot of the seafront. Very exclusive marina builds. The old town apartments tend to be handed down through Gibraltarian families. You can still buy properties on the rock but very expensive. I think a lot of the online gaming companies run out of Gib like Paddy Power that sort of thing. Again probably a tax thing.
That makes sense, No wonder they are building up into the sky with huge blocks of flats being constructed there
@@ontheroadadventure my wife and I are off on tour too soon. Heading to Austria Italy doing the passes and lakes. We've got a little channel to vlogg our journey. Nothing like yours just a few subscribers and fun Seabreeze Rider. Looking forward to see you rest of your tour. We don't camp....lol
Gib is a very strange place to visit,m8 have been several times and can never decide if I like the place or not
We decided pretty quickly lol
Gibraltar we went their to visit and distant friend he gave us a grand tour.. then it came to Dinner He took us to Morrisons for lunch no special cafe 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Haha what a day to remember!
Your campsite looked more inviting than Gibraltar, Rich your comment - most bikes/mopeds parked up looked like shitters made me laugh somewhat 👍. I think your decision to move on was a good one Gib is not the best of places to tour on a bike but at least you’ve both been there. Have a great day 😊
Sometimes we think we would be better to have old bikes we didn’t care about to leave anywhere but then we still have our kit which is essential and can’t be left alone either. Still like you say, we been and seen and had a laugh for a day and that’s all we really worry about
I enjoy you videos! Now, they would be even better if you set yo microphones you use for when you are off your bikes to a mono mode (maybe two lights display rather than one?) When both lights are on we hear both channels - left and right, but when one light is on each, we only hear either left or right channel. The bike recordings are all both channels.
We have them Mics set to stereo, our understanding is that our voices should each come out of both left and right? are you listening on headphones? we have never noticed any issue when editing using our headphones? Someone else mentioned something about this, help us to understand and we will get it corrected for future episodes, no problem. Many thanks
Hi, so i have been back and listened with headphones and i understand now what you mean, When talking off the bike the Stereo setting means that Ewa comes through one speaker and I on the other side. If we go to Mono we will each come through both speakers and you'd prefer that?
Hi guys, Great videos.. From what I can see Gib has turned into a shit hole. Spent many a detachment there when in the RAF. There used to be some great bars and food places to frequent. Spent many a drunken night fighting with the Navy although I'm talking 30 plus years ago now. Looks like there's been a lot of building work going on over there.
I was thinking of visiting next time the wife and I are over in Spain on our bikes but I think I'll stick with the memories and not spoil it. Keep up the great videos. Thank you for the entertainment. Gaz
Hi Gaz, Sounds like you visited in the good days of Gib, yes we saw lots and lots of construction going on there, Im sure its nicer on foot but its no place to go tour on your bike, Stick to Spain and Portugal
Admire the way you're travelling around, but by needing to be so protective over your bike and belongings, could it be limiting your experience? Gibraltar is a lovely place
On the one hand we do agree with what you are saying and are thinking about the possibility of a couple older bikes perhaps, but the main problem for what we do is the amount of expensive equipment we have in the bike to film and edit the videos.
Before brexsh*t I walked across the border from Gibraltar to Spain. There were no buildings or control, just a road crossing the airport runway.
Even back then (20 years ago) there was a much more relaxed feeling in spain than in Gibraltar.
It’s just a busy city there, lots of construction work, far too many people and cars… Nothing for us there…
I was thinking about moving to Gibraltar a while back & a lack of riding roads did put me off.
Good video. Watch out for the monkeys
yeah you need a moped at best in Gibraltar
Gib is a great place the main street and marina are great to sit, eat and people watch
We do like to people watch, but we like to keep our bikes in sight too in busy areas like that
The get why you didn't stay
I have been twice and love Gib. I fully understand the challenges though when the guys have a pair of fully-laden bikes.
@@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne We have our home (tent) and all out tech needed for the RUclips videos with us so leaving our bags on the bikes unattended is just not going to happen
@@David-jv9gk Too much risk for not enough reward. We much prefer quiet relaxing locations
I live in Spain not far from the Rock. I’ve been there a couple of times but never with my bike. No place to ride there, all is full and crowded. Lovely place to visit though 👍🏻👊
Yeah we thought it might be good for a weekend if you flew in and walked about but it’s no good on the bikes
You didn't think much of your last epic visit , looks to busy for me. Them onions were perfect just how I like them 😂. Safe riding both. Can't wait for the next epic journey 😎
It really was very busy in Gibraltar, Cars and bikes are packed in very tight in the available parking spaces. We didnt like to leave our bikes alone there. We Though we were going to find some nice coffee shops and sit outside in the sun by the beach etc but that is not the reality
Yep good move that 👍
I was thinking about having a look at Gibraltar in June but don't think I'll bother now 😂😂😂
No I wouldn’t bother mate, there are much better places to go for sure
Love your video! Cooking skills need some more practice lol
What?! Top quality grub that was!!
Gibraltar looks even worse than it was in 2009. When we were staying with friends near Malaga they took us on a day trip to the rock. Only reason I could see for going there was for the duty free goods. You didn't miss anything in the town either as it was crammed back then.
Well now we know… Won’t be going there again!
Having supervised catering procedures for a while, it was obviously time to lead by example. Well done. Top nosebag. Funnily enough we had the same tonight too.
Gib doesn't really appeal to us either, i don't want to be reminded of the things I'm travelling to avoid for a while.
Top entertainment.
Ride safe 👍
Yes you have to remind them that in severe circumstances it is possible that I could survive if left unattended 🤣
Another great video delivery they get better every time just two things, what was your tent setup and how tall are you?
Hi thanks so much. We are using the MSR Habitude 4. I’m 5’7 and can stand with plenty of room left. A smaller tent would be more convenient to carry but getting on my hands and knees on wet grass to climb into where your sleeping just seems rubbish to us
@@ontheroadadventure Hi thanks for that I am 5’7”, due to age and the discomfort of getting dressed prone I have been thinking about getting a Lone Rider Moto Tent but I’m not keen on its ability to withstand higher wind levels. If you get a lone rider Moto tent for testing before I get the Habitude 4 would you please go out in a force 9 gale so I can see how it stands up 😂. Keep the great videos coming.
I live in Malaga but never take a vehicle across to Gibraltar. Much less stressful to park in one of the underground secure car parks on the border and walk across the border and get the bus into town
Yeah public transport is definitely the answer here
Gibraltar is like Croydon on a Monday morning lol when you go up the ronda Road on a right hand corner you have venta el madrono that's where all the bikers meet up at the weekend
Exactly like Croydon!
Quote of the series from Ewa there ..caramelised…more like F****d😂😂 so enjoying this vlog of yours, you’ve done the N2 are you doing the N222? I hear it’s a good one
Dont worry there’s plenty more such wise words in the upcoming videos! Yes we knowing the N222 but we didnt get on it this trip
Loverly bike trip guys.love the price of fuel👍 keep up the vids enjoyable.🏍
It’s worth dipping in just to fill your tank if passing!
Yeh nowt wrong wi that id do same👍
I bet people who live nearby do it each week!
My mate Helmet Head was on Gib a short while ago and made a couple of video's. I have to say, my impression of the place was very much the same as yours. Too many people in too many cars in too much of a hurry. It rather looked like London by the sea. Still, been there, seen that now and no need to go back.
London by the sea… that’s exactly how it is
another entertaining and honest review. Ewa is your rock, she's sounder than Gibraltar. Never seen such and easy going girl. Nothing phases her. But she should be honest and tell you ther is usually seafood in Paella :-)
Oh you should see all the trouble she causes me off camera 🤣🤣🤣 No we get on just great and both love to do the same things so it’s just easy
couple of things we love your videos. My wife Anne has the Shad Terra 40 system check that out. Oh also Gibraltar is not an Island it's a peninsular (I lived there for over 2 years} on Europa Point. Have a great time.
Cheers we will take a look. Is Gibraltar a nice place to live? Seems busy
It is busy as tourists flock to it in the summer. It's like living in a big village where everyone knows everyone. Lots of night life and surprisingly lots to do. Plus the weather is always lovely. You picked a windy day at Europa but normally it's quite humid with a gentle breeze off the Med. I was posted there when I served in the Army. Beats the freezing cold of the UK.
Yeah anything is better than the uk, especially the prices. We noticed fuel is really cheap in gib. Is the whole cost of living situation better?
@@ontheroadadventure when I was there it was tax haven so prices were quite nice. I think housing is pricey comparable to UK
@@seabreezerider1309 Seemed to be allot of blocks of flats being built there
Why do you keep referring to Gibralta an island? It's the tip of the Iberian Peninsula. You didn't notice that you didn't cross any water?
Lol No idea 🤷♂️
Shouldhave let me know, my son lives there, could have stayed.
Thanks wez, I think we were in and out in a few hours, too busy for us there
Yes a bike is not the best thing to visit Gibraltar with especially if you have lots of kit with you and don't want to leave it behind.
But if you had seen the 'Main Street' you would have liked it and could have had real English style fish and chips plus mushy peas.
You are right, i would have loved that! Alas Public transport or a crappy moped is what you want here...
Those onions looked perfect to me👍. I was underwhelmed with Gibraltor too! Monkeys were nasty twats! Just out of nosyness what date were you there?
Yeah we did feel like perhaps we should have gone up to see them but honestly getting hassled by monkeys pissing on my bike kit and what not just doesn’t appeal to us so we moved on
are you not heading to Morocco?
No we don’t want to just dip in like everyone is doing right now, we will be back for Africa to do a tour of its own. We don’t want to rush it
@@ontheroadadventure well, I hope you follow along on mine in two months. ( every national park, in the Western United States ) I reside in South-eastern Florida
Wow that sounds like a epic trip. Will you be camping?
Is it me or that back plate is really close to the tyre (right bike) ? @minute 12.20
I see what you mean, optical illusion though
👍🛵
Cheers man
@@ontheroadadventure 😀
Weather is as sunny in England today! Gibraltar looks not worth visiting🐒
It wasn’t our thing, we much prefer quieter more relaxed places
Are you heading to Morocco? And if not, why not?
We originally planned too but we have decided we are going to save Africa for a tour of its own to allow it the time it deserves
@@ontheroadadventure I reckon that is extremely wise.....wherever you are as we type, ride safe.....
@@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne Thanks bud, we still have lots of really cool stuff planned to do in Spain and don’t want to rush it
@@ontheroadadventure If you return via Catalonia (Costa Brava) I can highly recommend Cardona (salt mines, stunning castle/hotel), Peratallada (walled ancient town), Cadaques (stunning ride through hairpins to beautiful seaside town made famous by the painter Salvador Dali), and finally the coast road from Spain (Port Bou) to France (Cerbere).
We are headed for the Desert Next as we didnt get to see the sahara this time...
Midlife crisis looks pretty good to me!
Haha Yes we are settling into it nicely now 🤣
I hated Gibraltar it’s a shithole covered in concrete and barbed wire the entrance is awful. The duty free shops are so much more expensive than normal shops in Spain. The only good thing was the view, cave and monkeys
We didn’t fancy the monkeys but other than that we had the same experience
These people are incorrigible whiners. Why did you even leave home?
Im sorry you feel that way.
