Just dropping this here because Atlantic Firearms disabled their comments on the CA-3 video: The CA-3 CANNOT accept a clamp on rail because the bulges where the clamp would hold on are rounded on the bottom. That means your only option for an optic is to have someone weld a rail on.
@@mrdato116 No, there should be a flat shelf on the bottom of the bulges for the claws to tightly grab onto. Edit: I'm looking at more pictures of the rifles online and it seems they may have added the flat spots for the claws to grab in the production version but still missing the recoil lug for the claw mount that is supposed to be forward of the drum sight
That's an easy fix. If a person does not have the skill, they can take to a local gunsmith to add the undercuts. Remember this reciever is a PTR. They normally have a rail welded on top, so they will not have mount undercuts or the lug attached to the rear sight. The big issue is no lug. That sucks
I have a real preban portuguese g3, and. PTR... and I also fail to see the point... especially at $999... a couple more hundred and you can just get a NEW PTR
@jonc2914 There is no point. That's the point. With PTR, I've had 2. Sold both. It's not like they are great shooters vs modern weapons and there's absolutely no nostalgia or collector value. Once you slap the handle a few times and disassemble, that's about it
@@Patrioticduder ptr actually makes excellent shooters. Guess you missed the point. The topic of discussion is century arms... you missed that entirely.
@jonc2914 I disagree. But yeah. These Portuguese kits don't look like they are in the best of condition. They are "battlefield pickup" condition as described by century 🤣. The PTR rifles are bench rest range toys at best. Source: I used one for grins in a run and gun competition. It is what it is. An antiquated pieced together replica
Canik is no longer a good gun for the money because they are no longer cheap. They are still great guns and are valued right around where they probably should be now that they have developed a name. It wasn't that long ago I got my brand new TP9SFX for less than $400.
There are still models that are extremely affordable, but they also have models that are more in line with other popular striker fired options. That being said, you do still get a lot in the box.
I had one and hated it! The stock would come loose every hundred rounds and would require me using a screwdriver to tighten back up, and the most painful trigger slap on any gun I've ever fired. It looked cool but was a total piece of junk.
@Tom-qp6oh they were known as bottom tier in the 80s and 90s . Shotgun news had adds practically giving away parts kits . How dumb was it not to have bought some
"Tell us what you want, we'll see if we can make it happen"
Phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.
I want a M4A1 pulse rifle.
A Noisy Cricket
Hey, Just What You See, Pal !
Chad seems so thrilled to be there.
Excellent interview, OreGear. Way to keep it flowing. With one of the alumni from TNP Trench Warfare.
I know right?! I should have asked more about that.

Aren't all G3s like that?

Can you mount the pic rail or the claw mount to the top as is?
Thanks
BREAKING NEWS: Buds has these available now, 7/4/2024.
Just got mine, it's really nice
I Love The CA 3 Idea
Hopefully G3 Wood!
PTR built G3 $1000 😯😯😯
wait what?!?!?! Chad is with canik now?
To shoot it as is in USPSA it is a Open Minor gun due to the comp. IDPA you could shoot Carry Opitcs though.
Picked up a C308 back in 2018 for under 400!! Those Days are Gone!!
Where do you get 5.45 x 39 mm? I have not seen any on a shelf in 1 1/2 years!
Tela is importing some. Seems slightly corrosive based on Buffman Range’s testing
Us palm 5.56 ak mag would be sick
Do you think that the.556 magazine will fit in my valmet 76?
Only if other 5.56 ak mags fit.
Valmets in 223 are totally proprietary
When did Chad go to Century?
Pretty recently
November ;)
What Happened Between Chad and Kel-Tec ???
Any chance of a pic rail on those ca3’s?
Time will tell
Who is the guy from century? He looks familiar
Chad Enos = KEL-TEC Don't Know What Happened Between Them
You should have let Chad talk, you held his gun and told us more about it then Chad did.....
I can’t stand him, he’s an attention seeker.
Standard 556 ak mag? What is that please do tell lol
Any new production 5.56 ak mag like the AC Unity shown in the video.
What happened to the vska?
The VSKA was replaced by the BFT47 a few years ago
They both blow trunnions
Sub $1k G3 clone? Im listening🤔
Its not a clone... and 999.99 will not be sub 1000 after markup, shipping, and taxes.
Honestly, I would Leave it Stock as you get it. Collectors Want Vintage Preserved, Regardless of What Walks Out the Door!!!! Bmp!!
Did you see the look on his face when the Century guy stroked his ego!? lol!!!!! OH BOY
They had to destroy the barrels and receivers of the G3s and use PTR barrels and receivers...whats even the point

@OreGear I just know the exact model I bought went up in price by $120 lol. I got mine way before canik was popular though
Good luck finding 7.62 x 39 mm ammo.
It’s easy to find, just not at the prices AK folks are used to paying.
@@OreGear I saw some 7.62 x 39 mm from American manufacturers and the price was outrageous!
Its all over the place. Runnin about $0.42/round online.
I thought G3 was 7.62x59 Nato.
@@umptischmutz It is .308 but AK ammo is hard to come by.
Wasr's were bottom tier
Tell that to the AK forums

Nothing wrong with wasrs. The only real issue was canted sights, but if it didnt have that they were gtg. Mine runs like a horny whore on payday
dame i was hoping this where imports AK74S, im not buying this shit
Did you have a stroke before typing this?
Yeah protecting American aks ..lol ..like hunter videos testing cartel product tester ..they are a drag on USA aks ..lol
....Tommy Chong went from selling bongs to AKs. ...sign of the times....
