My neighbour's Range Rover (2023 brand new) has broken down 4 times over the past 11 months. The last time it broke down he told the dealership to keep it saying the car wasnt fit for purpose
You're absolutely right, Chris. Land Rover Range Rover is probably the most unreliable brand that exists. On the other hand, there's Rolls Royce... Thank you so much for this information. Stuart
I’ve owned 3 Range Rovers, I’ve piked up my first l405 2017 sdv8 4.4. And been blown away again, I’ve just got back from her first road trip and she hasn’t missed a beat. Over my owner ship of l322 and know l405 I’ve had no major problems bar normally wear and tear. To myself no other car matches its capabilities and comfort in my opinion.
@@ChrisEdworthy they are great for long distance....I didn't get the fob for my heater, so converted to GSM, so can now text car from anywhere to turn on the FBH. Btw does yours get warm inside? I find that the battery protection system switches off the FBH before cabin is nice and warm. Did fit new battery 3yrs ago....
Chris. You are a nice guy with a good channel. But stop dreaming. I am South African, 78, and often go far out in the veld to Kruger Park and beyond. You would be hard pressed to find a Range Rover in the South African bushveld. You will find Range Rovers at all the fancy shipping malls in the country. But when South Africans head out into the veld and overland into Africa, only ONE vehicle cuts it. A Toyota Land Cruiser. Range Rovers are city shopping cars. For posers. I enjoy your channel
Had a 2007 L322 3.6 tdv8 around 6 years ago with 220000 miles on it, drove like a car with 40000 miles and never missed a beat! All about the maintenance,
@@ChrisEdworthy Great vehicle, Only vehicle I can compare with that millage now ( land rover ) is an old Discovery 3 SE It has 183000 miles on it, Drives spot on, Spent 6k on it doing all the bushings, airbags, bearings, rust protection, air suspension bags ( all round ), torque converter, etc, But it will be good now for another 10 years or so,
Y Tubers Make Me Smile,When Has Any Landrover Been Known For its Great Build and Reliability Over the Last 50 Years ? If You Want Both Just Go and Buy a Toyota. If You Want To Spend a Fortune on a Car And Keep Having Faults then Buy any Landrover of any Kind.
How many have you owned, all of my defenders have been faultless,5 defenders, all with over 300,000kms. The new ones are wank and my next truck is a grenadier. Toyota fanboys gonna hate.
Had a 2011 5.0 XJ for about a year and 10k miles. Never missed a beat. Two of my neighbors currently have a 3.0 diesel and a 3.0 petrol - and they're constantly messing up. Difference? Mine came from a happy home and had regular pre-emptive maintenance. I always say, you buy the previous owner, not the car.
😂 I agree. But part of me has always wanted the big V8 Land Cruiser. I do like a big engine and big car. I’ve had a few American cars for that reason. But always come back to JLR.
Buy an L405 and do videos with it and it’s general reliability. People love to watch the Range Rover l405 videos. I’ve had mine four years. Thing is the best. However I’m not a RUclips vlogger or I’d probably do what I’ve just suggested lol. 👌🏻
Biggest problem imo is the 2.7/3.0 Ford diesel in every model since like 2005 and on. And the crank snap issue due to the engine actually not being adapted to the LR weight, load and 4x4 system. Happens ALOT on the Disco 3/4. Fully serviced often only like 70-100k miles. LR refused this as being an issue, did nothing to enhance the part or get to the bottom of it. The lid wash just applied. I recon the 3.6 and 4.4 are better.
GLE is a very nice car, I just don’t think people get as attached to a Mercedes like they do a Range Rover. Maybe the solid German nature means they lack a bit of character? Who knows!! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I’ve done 2000 miles in 2 months so far , all it’s needed is a rear height sensor. I’ve done the diff oils etc for peace of mind It’s all wear and tear stuff which if done properly it will last… same with any car , it’s a simple as that.
Hi Chris, I’m a fan of Range Rovers also,….but I’m most definitely not a fan of £700 road tax. That’s daylight robbery. It really disappoints me that you end up giving the government an excessive amount of money just for the pleasure of running your car on the road. I can accept paying the going rate for regular services, but paying the government ( regardless of political persuasion ) sticks in my throat. I drive a GLC and it’s due for replacing next year, and the Range Rover is a definite possibility. Are you planning to do any vids on the servicing costs, or the cost of consumables like tyres, brakes, exhaust etc?. Another interesting video Chris… Cheers John
Hi John, yes I am looking at doing the servicing and filming it. However one isn’t due yet, and I was only thinking last night it’s almost a bit boring. Nothing is wrong with my L322 it just keeps going with no issues. Great for me, but not for content. The road tax is painful I agree. My Rolls is £300 less. City driving which I’m just looking into is also expensive, Londons ULEZ and congestion charges are a killer. All to drive over potholes suited best to a Range Rover!! 🤔
Fantastic cars but absolutely cannot be run on the Cheap, They certainly aren't perfect but they are no worse than any other big heavy complicated car.
There is a 97% failure rate on Nissan CVT Transmissions and they are going bust in the USA where all cars sold have auto. I'm sure RR have reliability problems but so do many others which are never discussed. My mates brand new Fiesta blew up at 60,000 miles with the ecoboost engine, Ford told him to go do one because it was just out of warranty! Peugeot pure tech also a disaster, and Vauxhall Corsa gearbox failures at 30K miles.

Land Cruiser will outdo a Rangie/Landie long term. Honestly, I believe if you use it regularly, don't make it sit and overmaintain it they'll be fine.
I would like to have a Land Cruiser at some point. 2010's V8 would be ideal. Thank for watching.
Quite happily take our 2012 4.4 TDV8 on our European and UK road trip. Obviously lots of preventive maintenance to keep it in good order. 👍
