What's funnier is that they didn't even need the "I" to be phonetically correct. "NXS" would have worked perfectly. With the "I" it almost looks like it's pronounced "inks"
This video was shot in Prague just a few years before the end of the Cold War. This is why you see the Soviet soldiers in the streets. By 1990, Rolling Stone magazine declared INXS the greatest live band in the world.
it is criminal how many people don't know Inxs! Michael hutchence was everything, everything! I love him so much, I miss him so much. he was a lyrical genius. everyday I play his voice, everyday! there is not a bad inxs song, not one, and their live performances cannot be topped. they are the best live band ever to exist.
doesn't matter I wasn't born when the beatles were huge. I know who they are! am I comparing inxs to the beatles, yes, yes I am! I'm not blaming her@@gcarapof course not, just making a statement that the fact so many people don't know this band just makes me very very sad.
@@Casherr93I feel it mostly has to do with Australian music not really getting the recognition they deserved on the world stage in the era this was released, at the time INXS were the most internationally successful Australian band ever, up to that point the world and in particular the US just weren't interested in giving Australian music a chance
This song is a power ballad anthem. All music composition, chords, sax, lirycs, voice perfectly blended. Always makes me feel in a good vampire movie atmosphere.
Inna, this is one of your best reactions. The honest delight you displayed as each element unfolded was a joy to watch. Then, your spin in the chair ,was as unexpected as the sax solo is for so many who hear this song for the first time. INXS have many, many great songs, so please do some more (I suggest "Suicide Blonde, "Original Sin", "Kiss The Dirt (Falling Down The Mountain"), "I Send A Message" and "Burn For You"). The AFL team that I follow here in Australia, Port Adelaide Power, have adopted this as a pre game song at home games. To hear over 40,000 fans belt out "They will never, ever tear us apart." is awesome (there are clips of this here on RUclips). A few years ago, two of the band members were invited to a game. They were on the playing surface as the crowd sang their song and they were visibly moved.
INXS were the biggest band in the world in the late 80s. In Australia, they were big for all of the 80s and have a ton of hits. You might like their song "Burn for you"
They have so many good songs! Need You Tonight, New Sensation, Suicide Blonde, Devil Inside, What You Need, Mystify, Beautiful Girl, Don't Change, Original Sin and many more. Plus they were a great live band. check out Live Baby Live at Wembly.
INXS was one of the best band of all time. You should react to "Need you tonight/Mediate", "New Sensation", "The Stairs", "Disappear", "Suicide Blonde", "Elegantly wasted"
INXS ("in excess") was an Australian band that broke big in the 80's and was one of several bands from Australia that found commercial success in the 80's next to AC/DC, Men at Work, Little River Band, Ice House, Midnight Oil, Crowded House, etc. What made INXS special was their lead singer Michael Hutchence... an extraordinary talent and a charismatic frontman... He helped score their biggest pop hits like - 'Need you tonight'... 'New sensation' ... 'What you need' ... 'Beautiful girl' ... 🔥🔥 In the 90's, INXS was trending down in the alternative rock era and record sales dropped by the mid-90's... still, INXS persisted and had some success w/ their 1997 album 'Elegantly wasted'... Sadly, it was their last record w/ Michael Hutchence on vocals. As the frontman and rock star of INXS, Michael Hutchence was irreplaceable... he had a voice, presence and charisma that appealed to women and could not be duplicated on record or in concert... Personally, he struggled w/ issues and self-doubt... His last years were marred by a scandalous affair he had w/ the wife of Bob Geldof - the star who organized Live Aid concert in 1985... Hutchence became a father to his only daughter in the 90's w/ girlfriend Paula Yates as she went through a messy divorce w/ Geldof regarding their children... In late 1997, Michael Hutchence took his own life, allegedly after he discovered that he would not be allowed to spend the Christmas holidays w/ Paula and their daughter because of her court case in England. Paula Yates attempted suicide after Hutchence's death and eventually died in 2000 from an OD... Hutchence's daughter Tiger Lily was adopted by Geldof.
Way before this band became super popular I remember paying a whole $1.50 to see them in Adelaide, Australia. And fell in love with them instantly. Their cover of the song The Loved one(from the Australian band The Loved Ones) was what hooked me at my first viewing. In later years worked security at a few of their concerts
The song, his voice, his cuteness, the saxo part in this video is epic! This it my favorite song and video! The video of "Mistify" that begins playing this song wtith Michael and the Farriss on the piano, it's amazing! Greeting from Argentina! The Impression have to be sincere and you got that.
I loved this reaction. It's easy after having heard this song hundreds of times to forget just how impactful every aspect of it is. INXS has a lot of good songs. Even their dep cuts on their older albums can be very good. Definitely take some deep dives into this band in addition to what people will want you to react to.. As far as what to react to next, I would do the combination of the videos for Need You Tonight and Mediate. They were often played together on MTV and often on the radio too. I remember the first time I saw them together on MTV was an impactful experience like how you just reacted to Never Tear Us Apart. In fact, I'm going to go watch them again now.
My favorite reaction to this song. You're precious! You have so much to look forward to with this great band. INXS ( IN EXCESS ) put on great live concerts. Check out the crowd at their Wembley Stadium show. RIP MICHAEL HUTCHENCE. One of Rocks greatest front men!
Haha you seemed to love it!! It's one of the best ballads ever written! INXS were the biggest band in the world in the late 80s and early 90s. 20 years of hits to check out and are even better live! Oh and it's pronounced IN_X_S.. In excess!! They are Australian btw!
Lots of comments but I can't help to add mine to your reaction. 1 - Loved your reaction! This is one of my favourite songs of all times and INXS in my top 5 bands. Saw them live but Michael was already gone by then. They sound amazing live though. 2 - Please keep reacting to them, Mystify - Dissapear - By My Side - Devil Inside - Beautiful Girl - Elegantly Wasted. 3 - Love you.
Michael was an iconic artist taken from us much too soon. But, his memory lives on in masterpieces such as this. Listen to their "Kick" album to understand. RIP! 🙏❤️
I remember buying this album. I liked them when It's The One Thing came out with a video on MTV in it's early stages. But this is from the album Kick. This album was HUGE!!! Even a metal head like me loved this entire album. Great job Inna!!! Your reviews make me smile for awhile.👏🍻🤟
I saw INXS in 1988. When they played this song, during the break you loved so much they actually left the stage for a few minutes, changed clothes, then picked up with the guitar when they got back. Really incredible live moment.
The video was shot in Prague, Hungary and is surreal in black n white to add to the imagery. INXS was one of the best bands from Australia, and still exists in 2024 despite Michael Hutchence the lead singer, dying in 1997. 👍😳😇
Hello INNA, for those of us who are over 40, 50 in my case INXS was a very important command at the end of the 80s and beginning of the 90s. Dancing his slow dances with that special woman would be unique
RIP Michael♥️🇦🇺 INXS was a classic 80's Australian rock band. My wife walked down the aisle at our wedding (in 1995) to "Never Tear Us Apart". Michael was probably one the greatest voices to ever come out of Australia🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺👍
A song from my youth. I used to listen INXS when i was 18 to 20. I feel nostalgic and a little bit sad when hearing this. Thank you from your nice reaction to their song and video.
Their music videos are a delight to watch, but for an unparalleled experience of their pub rock, make sure to catch their live videos. When it comes to performing on stage, the band, especially Michael, is an absolute dynamo!

I would just say it as IN XS...never knew any other way of saying it and nobody ever ridiculed me for it back in Middle School...
One of the most elegant songs of the 80s. The sax solo is perfect. Michael Hutchence lead singer RIP
The sax solo is stunning the first time you hear it.

No one writes music like INXS any more and the world is worse off for it . That whole album is one hit after another .
One of Australia's best bands.

One of the absolute greatest bands to come out of the 80's. Michael Hutchence is such an ICONIC FRONTMAN. ✌️
💯💯💯
Michael Hutchence was such an ICONIC FRONTMAN. RIP!
INXS was HUGE during their time. Some great songs.
What a joy to see someone discover this classic!
This song is a power ballad anthem.
All music composition, chords, sax, lirycs, voice perfectly blended.
Always makes me feel in a good vampire movie atmosphere.
This group was huge in the 80-90's axis. Really huge.
Love your reaction! Michael Hutchence (RIP) had one of the best voices in the music industry.!
One of the best reactions to this song that I’ve seen, which I consider one of the best ballads of the entire 1980s decade.
I was thinking "wait 'til the sax hits"... Loved it!

Inxs (In Excess) a huge Australian band with a huge big catalogue featuring the highly charged charismatic Michael Hutchence. Its only the beginning!!
