The band name is pronounced “In Excess”. Such a huge band at the time. This is definitely on the slower side of their discography. Also check out “Need You Tonight” and “Suicide Blonde”
Devil Inside. (Or pretty much any song off their album "Kick".) I mispronounced the band name when they first came out.... I pronounced the name of the band "inks" .
INXS' album "Kick" (this song included) was one of those albums that was crucial in defining the decade that was the 80's. "Devil Inside", "New Sensation" , and "Need You Tonight/Facinate" are more than enough evidence of this.
I gotta say, 100% agree, " KICK" is about as prefect of an album as was ever made, But I am also going to say, "Listen Like Thieves" was fantastic too! Less polished, almost punk like, which is something you don't hear people say very often, "Punk/New Wave" because they were really the only ones that did it. Also I am a little surprised that she did not mention, Mike in terms of his aesthetic appeal.
INXS was way ahead of their time. You should check out "Need You Tonight/Mediate", "New Sensation", "Disappear", "By My Side", and "The Stairs". Those are all amazing songs.
Michael Hutchence the sexiest front man and best vocalist that has ever lived. INXS are Aussie legends Check out the Live Wembley Stadium concert from 1991. The greatest concert ever. Period.
Oh my God, the way she pronounces INXS. I can’t imagine going through life the past 50 years not knowing this band. I feel so blessed and grateful for this music!
RIP Michael Mystify is another great track. I now live in Adelaide and they play Never Tear us Apart at the start of the local AFL matches. With 30k people singing. It’s amazing.
The layering of instruments in this song is so deep, yet so well balanced. Great string intro. Drums driving at the perfect moments. Great clean guitar riff that is simple, yet grabbing. The slow but flowing bass groove. Saxophone out of nowhere. Mike's amazing voice, and then great harmonization later in the song. This song was a clinic on how to write a ballad.
I was lucky enough to see INXS in Sheffield 1987 during the Kick Tour. Sinead O'Connor was support. The crowd laughed when they saw this thin young lady walk on stage, but when she started to sing, you could hear a pin drop. Amazing performance. Michael had it all; he could sing, stage presence and oozed sex appeal.
I won't lie, I was into rock and metal, and while appreciated certain things about them, I wasn't into INXS. That having been said this song gets under your skin, because it's just so basic, and just so good. I always try to recognize quality. Great reaction!
My favorite INXS song is Don't Change. It's a bit older than this one. Good Times is a fun song they did for the Lost Boys soundtrack. You're seeing all the good songs recommended in these comments. I hope you get to them all!
So happy to see somebody reacting to INXS, a band everybody seemed to love for a while _{watch the entire Live at Wembley, I had the original VHS tape I did play so many times all over again!!!}_ and then all in a sudden gone forgotten, causing Michael Hutchence's slow death ended with his suicide after he released that masterpiece of his solo album I also have. They deserved so much more... they were beasts on stage and true superstars. Michael was probably the very last Superstar indeed, for sure! I miss him massively, the Full Moon Dirty Hearts album was the best ever by INXS and entirely a must react!
“Need You Tonight” has a driving beat and cool feel, but the bass part is one of the coolest ever written with tone for days and the guitar part is a perfect compliment. Legendary band. RIP Michael Hutchense.
Thankyou for not stopping this song during the reaction, INXS is one of my favourite bands from Australia and this particusong is one of my top 10, 80s songs, for so many reasons.
You're just scratching the surface of the world of INXS. Off the top of my head playlist...Mystify, Need You Tonight, The Stairs, By My Side, Not Enough Time, Suicide Blonde, Don't Change. Enjoy, Aileen.
In 1991 I got to see them at age 12 for my first ever concert with my 4 older siblings who all loved INXS, I grew up listening to every single Album on cassette in the car or at home and knew every single word to every song. Best childhood memory
There's a very interesting documentary about the shift that happened in Michaels life, after he was hit in the head (can't remember if he was mugged or what it was). His personality changed, and he ended up taking his own life. He was a superstar up until that, and a great loss to the world.
FYI - I was a young teen when this song first came out in Australia - I listened to and heard this song almost every day during that time and it has VERY strong emotional memories for me, being with my friends, girlfriend at the time and just great memories. I have listened to it and many more like it for decades now that they are stuck and ingrained in my memories that will never bee forgotten by me. I am glad you like it, I am so glad I personally lived through this time when this music explored the unknowns of the time and shaped music that came after it.
🥰 Love, love, love your reaction!! INXS has tons of hits so keep going with them!! For a fun one try "Need You Tonight"... you're gonna love that one too!!🙃 Peace and light...💞 P.S... the band name is pronounced "In excess".😉 It's cute and clever.😜 Rest in sweet peace Michael Hutchence.🙏❤❤❤
I've always loved this song and have continued playing it from time to time over the decades. I really liked INXS in the late 80's. Everyone else is already suggesting the right songs.
i loved your reaction to this song! INXS was a powerhouse band in the 80's. Michael Hutchence was an amazing charismatic frontman. This song is absolutely beautiful; friends of mine chose it as the song for their first dance at their wedding reception.
Great song and such a big loss when Michael Hutchence left us. Thank you so much for choosing this song. The video was shot in Prague, Czech Republic. The cemetery in the clip is the Jewish cemetery. Such an iconic place. I would love your reaction on ‘Don’t Change’, my favorite song by them. Love your reactions always. Much love ❤❤❤
Has to be one of the best ballads of all time by one of the best bands ever! INXS are always best live... check out any song from their iconic Wembley stadium concert in 1991..74k fans go off! New Sensation or What You Need are brilliant. Oh their name is pronounced In-excess!
Aileen, your channel is perfect for me! Also with this title, you remind me to my youth, the time we all (yes, also in Austria) heard INXS. Thank you for reminding me to all the unbelievable god artists I grow up with. Thank you!
Such a great Blast from the Past. INXS (pronounced: In Excess) was huge during the 80s and a great band, unfortunately we tragically lost the lead singer a while ago. Glad you reacted to this song ❤
It is poetry. If I hurt you, I'd make wine from your tears... If I told you, we could fly... cause we all have wings.... but some of us don't know why!
Great Australian band. I grew up with INXS and didn't really appreciate how good they were until I was a lot older. The singer, Michael Hutchence, committed suicide the same day I got married which was really sad (not my weeding, still married!). Listen to "Need you Tonight" - best pop riff of the 90's, with the bass line of "Don't Change" a close second.
One of my all time fave bands, best songs for me are....1.Need You Tonight also 2. Mystify fabulous 80s band its a shame he died R.I.P Michael H, You were the best.!
You can't fully appreciate this band until you experience them live. For that reason, I will just recommend "What You Need" live from Wembley stadium in 1991.
Michael Hutchence is one of those performers who just oozed sexuality. They had previously had some regular play on MTV and had a following on the new wave/alternative scene with songs like "The One Thing" but had not really broken through to top 40 beyond their home of Australia. That all changed with the album Kick. The first release, Need you tonight- with the help of a bare chested Hutchence in their video- burst them wide open on the international music scene. This was followed by "Devil Inside" and then "Never Tear Us Apart." Unfortunately he has passed. My favorite of theirs- mostly because of what was personally going on with me at the time- is "Not Enough Time" off their follow up album.
This is what made the 80s so great. You have multiple types of music just as popular as the other. It's not that way anymore. It's only about what makes money, and everyone tries to mimic that sound.
Great reaction as usual! INXS is one of my favorite bands ever. They are amazing; saw them in concert twice and they are still two of my favorite concerts!!! Lots of good suggestions below; hard to go wrong with any one of their songs. "Mystify" and "Good Times" are worth a listen.
I was stationed in Germany when this album was released. It reminds me of my time there and walking through the city with my girlfriend at the time. Aw youth
Loved your reaction to this. I've always felt like they were the 80s answer to The Doors. They have so many songs I think you'll enjoy all of the suggestions from them others have made.
Don't get suckered into just listening to songs from this album. It was their big breakthrough in the video era. Their earlier albums are loaded with great stuff to dive into. from The Swing: Original Sin, I Send A Message, Burn For You from Shaboo Shoobah: Soul Mistake, Black and White, Don't Change, Spy of Love from Listen Like Thieves: What You Need, Kiss The Dirt, This Time, Shine Like It Does
Hey, fellow Gen Xers... How incredible was INXS when you first heard them? I admit, I was a tad bit late to the game, but they had SO MANY HITS all in a row! Boom, Boom, Boom, one right after the other! It was near impossible NOT to hear them at one stretch in the 80s... Amazing! This band has always had a special place in my heart. I love them. One of my favorite bands of All Time.
Yes, RIP Michael. Everyone, you are not alone and it is ok to ask for help. Reach out if you need to. I always wonder what kind of art that these people who left too early would have been making.
Suicide Blond might be my fav of theirs after this song. They really have a number of great songs. You can’t go wrong when choosing from their catalog. Great reaction!
My first Concert was INXS....every sax solo was played while on a skateboard rolling from one side of stage to the other....Soo many songs for you to discover....The Stairs....What you need...listen like thieves....devil inside....yeah you should do devil inside
Yeah, I know... I keep coming back to this one. What can I say? I love the band and love the reaction. Can't wait to see you check out another of their songs.
one of my favorites from my youth, The Farriss Brothers formed in 1977 later became INXS (in excess) and became massive in the 80's, which would put me in the Depeche Mode, OMD, Erasure, Thompson Twins phase of my life lol I'm old
Fine reaction to an iconic band playing one of their iconic hits! And, really, such a great voice he had! R.I.P., Michael Hutchence! If you want any suggestions of their songs to react to, I'd recommend: "Suicide blonde"; "Devil inside"; "Need you tonight"; "New sensation"; "Disappear".
INXS was my favorite band in high school. Feels like a long time ago. Like riding a bike. Haven't heard this song in so long, but I knew every word. Loved the reaction.
Hello *AileenSenpai,* *Arte Concert* YT channel proposed since few weeks their complete concert *"INXS: Live Baby Live"* at Wembley (1991). I suggest you to react to the 0:24:09 *"By My Side" (7th song in the concert). Peace, folks. ☮😊
Michael and the band were very passionate and emotional in all their music. Was tragic we lost Michael Hutchence too soon. Thank you for adding them to your journey Aileen. ❤
Most of your reaction are taking me back to my childhood. I remember the day I first heard these songs maybe days or even less after their release. (thank you much)
The team I support in the AFL (Australian Football League), Port Adelaide, has adopted this great song as the theme for home games. To hear it sung by a 40,000+ crowd just before the game begins is spine tingling. A few years ago two of the band members were invited to a game and they were visibly moved by the crowd's rendition. There are a few recordings here on RUclips of some of the renditions over the last few years. INXS have a great catalogue of material and were one of the few really good Australian bands to be very successful around the world (AC/DC and the Little River Band are the only other two to sell large numbers of records over a decent time span).
@@PjRjHj Yes. It is the SANFL (South Australian National Football League), the supporters of the Adelaide Crows and the supporters of the other eight teams in the SANFL competition.
I saw INXS live six times, they were amazing. For your next one, I would go back to almost the very beginning and listen to Don't Change. One of my absolute favorites. And then hit up their biggest BANGER, which is New Sensation (it was on the same album as Never Tear Us Apart).
INXS was the shit in the 80's. I liked them from their first song I heard/saw on MTV. The first I saw of them was Don't Change. I know The One Thing MAY have come before, but it was Don't Change that made me buy their tape. Which I have somewhere.
Love your reaction Aileen..if you love this song..imagine hearing these when they first came out...trust me it was the same reaction you just had.. you would have love the 80's . best era .. they were fun..INXS was a great band so many great songs...RIP micheal..🙏😔
I can remember exactly where I was when I heard this on the radio. I was living in Japan. When that break comes where everything goes silent and that simple guitar riff plays... I was hooked immediately.
This was filmed in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1987 -when Communism still ruled that nation and city. Two hear later, the Revolution took place. For an Australian band to go behind the Iron Curtain, is unique, yet the old city suits the music. They filmed two other videos while they were there (New Sensation, and....) I was studying in Europe in 1989-'90 in Luxembourg. When the Berlin Wall was broken in early Nov'1989, many of us, at our university went East to travel. When I got to Prague, I had this vibe that I had seen many places before -maybe in photographs. It turned out to be this video by INXS, which I'd seen numerous times, (and the film "Amadeus" from 1984, the director was originally Czech', and knew that Prague would suit the 18th century music biography). INXS were a great band -and they should be in the Rock Hall of Fame. Prague, is well served by this song.
As a misguided and obnoxious young Aussie bloke, a mate and I once sung this song on repeat for two hours straight during a karaoke session in Japan. We thought it would be hilarious at the time, but at the 45 min mark the homesickness took over and we were in tears. We finished the session, but with loads of cheap japanese beers to drown our sorrows.
I loved you reacting this. This is so like every woman I knew listening to this song back in the day, even down to the swaying. THANK YOU for the memory recall. I appreciate your modern reactions to what I have known for decades.
I remember when this came out, Aileen I want to mention Something you would love! Stevie Ray vahan, live at the Capitol theater song is "life with out you" 1985 he's considered the best guitares in history! He stops playing for a minute during the performance What he said pertains to all of us, to this day I still shake my head when I watch Stevie play. With footage Rip Stevie. Be cool stay safe!
I feel like you would love Mystify even better then this one,as it will show the progression of the song in development,in the beginning just Michael explaining to Andrew how the song goes, and then the finished product. Michael would approach Andrew alot like that, with new songs he had been writing on. Mom fed me on INXS from a was really young, she was completely in love with this band. Her favourite song "Need You Tonight" is also very recommendable,it will leave you raising an interested eyebrow early on.
The band name is pronounced “In Excess”. Such a huge band at the time. This is definitely on the slower side of their discography.
Also check out “Need You Tonight” and “Suicide Blonde”
I jumped to the comments to do this exact same thing.
Hahaha me too!!!!!
Same lol
That whole Kick album is Str8 FIRE 🔥🦵🦶💽💿😂😞🙂😛😉
Devil Inside. (Or pretty much any song off their album "Kick".) I mispronounced the band name when they first came out.... I pronounced the name of the band "inks" .

Mediate Not Facinate. But yes, Need to be reacted to together,
I gotta say, 100% agree, " KICK" is about as prefect of an album as was ever made, But I am also going to say, "Listen Like Thieves" was fantastic too! @@MichaelLopez-dn6gg Yes, yes, yes, Listen Like Thieves is really great, my favorite INXS album.
Decent album, but for me, it's Shabooh Shoobah, The Swing, and Listen Like Thieves
Album bellissimo. Tutte belle
INXS was way ahead of their time. You should check out "Need You Tonight/Mediate", "New Sensation", "Disappear", "By My Side", and "The Stairs". Those are all amazing songs.
"In Excess" is the pronunciation. Love your reactions as always.
Michael Hutchence the sexiest front man and best vocalist that has ever lived.
INXS are Aussie legends
Check out the Live Wembley Stadium concert from 1991.
The greatest concert ever. Period.
In the year 2023 music from the 80's still rocking young hearts, that's epic. ♥
Oh my God, the way she pronounces INXS. I can’t imagine going through life the past 50 years not knowing this band. I feel so blessed and grateful for this music!
RIP Michael
Mystify is another great track.
I now live in Adelaide and they play Never Tear us Apart at the start of the local AFL matches. With 30k people singing. It’s amazing.
Boo Port... (lol only kidding)
Yes! This is is great! I'm watching a dozen videos of this now
The irony that it was Port pulling itself apart from the inside, no one else cared
Well, there’s another item for the bucket list. For a forever INXS fan, it sounds very moving.
Go the Pear 🍐🍐
The layering of instruments in this song is so deep, yet so well balanced. Great string intro. Drums driving at the perfect moments. Great clean guitar riff that is simple, yet grabbing. The slow but flowing bass groove. Saxophone out of nowhere. Mike's amazing voice, and then great harmonization later in the song. This song was a clinic on how to write a ballad.
‘New Sensation’ is a must for every play list. An absolute belter.
RIP to micheal he will never be for gotten INSX is still iconic and I will continue to listen to more and more of INXS
Even though "Don't Change" is an early single of theirs, it's literally one of my favorite songs ever
GREAT song
Def my fave of theirs, as well!
LOVE that song.

INXS was awesome. Michael's story is absolutely heartbreaking. They were fantastic.

The most sexy INXS song is " I need you tonight". Michael Hutchence was an amazing vocalist and performer with is own style. Great Band.
Rest in peace to that great Musician and the legendary artistry he carry in him..
Michael Hutchence ❤ UN
“Need You Tonight” has a driving beat and cool feel, but the bass part is one of the coolest ever written with tone for days and the guitar part is a perfect compliment. Legendary band. RIP Michael Hutchense.

Hello *AileenSenpai,*
*Arte Concert* YT channel proposed since few weeks their complete concert *"INXS: Live Baby Live"* at Wembley (1991).
(thank you much)
You want to be watching Hear That Sound love from their Wembley concert 1991. Brilliant
Has the Power ever said who was trying to tear them apart?
@@PjRjHj Yes. It is the SANFL (South Australian National Football League), the supporters of the Adelaide Crows and the supporters of the other eight teams in the SANFL competition.
The guy who played John Silver in Black Sails played Michael Hutchinson in a biomovie about him/ INXS. Made with the bands backing, too.
Thank you for making this video review. It was really lovely watching you how you enjoy listening to this song😊 enjoy
One of the best front men ever!!!! Great songs , Loved them...
Her favourite song "Need You Tonight" is also very recommendable,it will leave you raising an interested eyebrow early on.
new sensation. the original video then the live performance.
