Oaks, the acorns are edible IF the tannins are soaked off. I did this last autumn, and after soaking, rinsing for roughly 5 days, I got the nut meat to make muffins and add to bread after toasting, grinding. They've got a mild taste.
You might find a truffle or two if you look carefully.
It's worth the time just meandering through the forest on a clear, crisp day.
    Enjoy your mushrooms.

Hi Meraid and Dan! This comments is for help with the boars as they dont like human scent. Some of my favorite tricks to keep the deer out of my yard is to place human hair in nylon stockings and I hang them around the perimeter of my gardens go to a hairdresser and ask them for large bag as It keeps for a while. I also use plastic containers with lids and use a punch holes with a paper hole punch on the lid, and then I fill it with some mothballs and a small stone for weight and place them on a circle of flat stones ( so they are off the ground for ground water to run under) and place these in areas around. Helps to keep the rabbits a away.
And this one is for Meraid, I buy lots of Irish spring soap and I put those into a nylon stocking and hang them on a stick or a branch on a tree around the property. They last for a long time and continually give off a scent that I feel helps with my gardens.❤

We publish videos almost every Saturday and right now it’s almost winter. We have lots of footage during last winter so you can see what we harvest and also what the weather is like. Cold but no freezing daytime temperatures. Oh, that Irish Spring Soap has nothing to do with Ireland, a marketing ploy I think 😂

I love your video. It is a pity that one can transmit smell. I love going on mushroom hunt. Here in Germany we also have beeches, that means we get yellow boletus or porcini. Sometimes they grow under oaks. My nose starts to quiver when I smell one. They are more difficult to find because they are not as exposed as parasols.

Hello! People in Portugal don't pick mushrooms that much, only certain species, mostly because peoiple don't know them well. With my ex-girlfriend, from the Alps, picking mashrooms used to be an real orgy, as no one picked them, there. They had all the time to grow and no one would pick them. I remember the first time she saw a 'Chanterelle' bigger than a cigaret packet. She took a photo and told me her parents would never believe her, if she didn't took the photo. Eucalyptus, changed a lot the biotope and the soil, in just a few years , from Oak to Eucalyptus > no good!
ps And in 'Cintra' (Endemic and ancient forest) mushroon picking just became ridiculous, each time we went there (almost all year around!)

You can take the stem and plant it in an a place where you have ants and they will grow. That’s what we did as we had none growing on our land. Also you can break the cap, and place bits, gills facing towards the earth in an open undisturbed area of land and the spores (seeds) could be realeased and grow. Be sure to only take some, not all mushrooms from an area. 😊
