I went to a campus tour of a small school that kept calling me, so I decided to go visit them. I was so upset when I was leaving because, the counselor who had sat down with me said I could never become a writer or focus in acting or screen writing because it was a competitive field, and I should focus my writing in a real career. She kept talking to me about business, and law. I felt bad for the lady too because, I kept on imagining if she also had her dreams crushed that way. I'm so sad that people now a days have experiences where their dreams are told they're "unreachable."

You hit the nail on the head when you said that it was physically draining for us and we would rather be working with ideas. I'm almost finish with college (Major: Philosophy Minor: Health & Human Performance, and Psychology) now I have to ask myself "Now what?." Why can't we just create something that shows you exactly what to do, oh how great of a stress relief would that be!

Hey I'm an INFJ and I'm so lost on what to do in life. Lately I've been attracted to nursing because of the options to work 3 days a week (or less if I choose), the variety and the advancement opportunities (nurse practitioner maybe?). My goal in life is to just work as little as possible so that I can travel the world and pursue my interests (like reading, swimming, photography). I'm torn because I have a feeling nursing isn't exactly an INFJ career. It's detail and task oriented, people oriented, high stress and fast paced....and I'm worried I won't be able to handle it. What are your thoughts on a career as a nurse as an INFJ? My other option was to get into user experience design. It sounds like a way better fit but not as appealing because I don't want a boring office job and I don't want to work 5 days a week (with potential need for overtime). Being an enneagram 9, I HATE work. I just want freedom to do my own thing so I know no job will bring immense satisfaction. Any thoughts? :)
Amanda H The most important thing is that you find a job where the people are not as career focused and are not pushing you all the time. Choose a job which offers you a lot of freedom and independence. So the more complex the task, the less people can do this task, the better for an INFJ. Good luck :)
@@teqnkka4403 academia/research is VERY competitive. It's one of the reasons I did not find it them to be a good fit for me. There's constant pressure to always be the first to discover something and to publish as many papers as possible
Hi Wenzes, I'm an infj and have been enjoying your videos a lot. I'm currently a freshman at college almost done with the first semester. I was planning on applying to business school next semester and majoring in finance, but to be honest, every time when I asked myself "What am I really passionate about? What do I wanna do as a career?" The answer is never "finance" but rather "acting and singing". I've always been so passionate about acting and singing, and I'm actually planning on changing my direction to pursuing a degree of acting instead. But some opinions from others like "That field is too competitive.""You won't be able to make a living with it"...still worry me even though I have strong faith in myself due to my extreme passion and talent. I'd love to hear your advice or anything you'd like to share. Thanks!!
Hi Rena...I majored in "finance" and the older I get (I am 30 now) the more I realize that the emotional part of life is of such big importance to me...I work in the finance world and I actually enjoy it. I am a consultant in banking...and the truth is when you are open to learning ´new things then each direction you take is going to bring you closer to your main goal in being fulfilled...that being said: I need this channel, I need my music and I need my love for art, fashion etc. ....that is one of the things that gets clearer with age...forget the "security" factor or the "competition" part...finance is a very competitive field aswell but the difference is the people in it are passionate about facts and numbers...much more than I could ever be...so think about it: if everything is competitve and security is nowhere (not in finance or anywhere else)...why not go for something that makes you happy and that you are so talented at...if by now you already know that this is a direction you like: GO FOR IT! there is no guarantee in anything and if you fail wouldn't you have rather failed in a direction that is getting you closer in living your life on your tearms than to go for the direction that everyone else conciders the "save option"....one way or another, it is always the right choice to follow your passion, taking this "risk" is a learning experience in itself so take the jump, dare, live and decide to live life on your terms.
Thank you so much for the reply and encouragements! I totally agree with what you said! I actually just set up a few appointments with couple of professors from our school's department of theater to discuss my thoughts and acting career options. I've been waiting for this moment when I could let go of all those "security concerns" and just go for my dream, but since I haven't really started this new path yet, questions like"What if I get into really bad luck and actually can't make a living out of it?" or "Should I really stop doing business/psychology(or any so called real majors) to pursue my dream and happiness without having much backup plans?" still occasionally come into my mind which worries me sometimes, even though I can see myself being very faithful in this new path...
So validating for me this video! I had tought of these things and rejected them cos I felt not good enough for being/doing so.... thanks so much Wenzes!
Hi Wenzes, of course I appreciate your videos as always. I just wonder where the idea comes from that detailed work is not for INFJ's? I read it before, but I'm actually good at detailed work. If you want to be an expert at something you have to get into details, right? I think there needs to be made a distinction between Se-detailed (external world), which yes we're not naturally good at it, and Ni-Ti-detailed (abstract). I'm reasonably good at remembering and using abstract systems.. but have more fun with it if it's geared towards other people and I can interact with them while using it (Fe). :)
i just discovered your channel and I can't stop watching your videos. they are so so helpful as an INFJ so thank you :) what is your opinion on an INFJ being a teacher compared to being a social worker?

Hi, I recently found out that I was an INFJ and it actually makes a lot of sense. I'm still young but I am having problems picking what i want to do. I've always look at medicine but I love art so I'm having a conflict with myself between art and medicine. Right now I am struggling with A levels but I'm determined to do medicine but at the back of my mind I feel worried if i am making the wrong decision
The truth is you won't know until it is too late...but no matter what you choose it will have it's benefits and disadvantages...just do what you think right now will be most fun...and if that some point you change your mind (maybe even in a year) then change that...a lot of things need to be tried out before we can decide what will suit us best.
On top of what INFJ:BelowtheRadar-AbovetheSystem said: Leonardo da Vinci is what falls into the archetype of Jung's described Artist-scientist there is a lot more to the archetype than the obvious of being an artist and a scientist. But the point here is that you could do medicine and still do art things. Perhaps your unique look that only an INFJ can spin onto things will help discover the cure for cancer after all INFJs are driven by their passion to improve humanity. Hopefully that makes sense.
Hello, I’m an INFJ too. I think it’s best if you went with medicine as a concrete profession. Then you will later down the road find the time and the money to pursue your artistic talents. :)
Hi, I am an INFJ and an undergraduate student in philosophy. I really enjoy working with abstract concepts and ideas but I am not the best at logical analysis. Ideally, I would love to be a philosophy professor but I'm not sure if I can function at that level...so sometimes I think that maybe I should just be a high school history teacher instead. Is there any insight/advice that you could give to my situation? By the way, I'm new to your channel but so far I really enjoy watching your videos and have learned a lot. Thank you. :)
LoverOfTruth2010 Hi :) thank you so much. Actually I think the higher the abstraction level the easier it is for us. As a high school teacher you would also have more 'sensing' tasks like grading and correcting. I think that would be harder for you than to become an 'expert' on something as abstract as philosophy. On top of everything I think you would enjoy working with philosophy students who are eager to learn and listen to what you have to say as their professor instead of high school students who have to be here. :) All the best, Wenzes

I'm having trouble thinking of what I want to be. I'm at a point in my life where I have to really be sure. Maybe I'm stressing myself a bit. Personally I've always wanted to pursue creative jobs, but I do want to really help people aswell. You talked about how we need our time to ourself, and I relate so much to that. Hi Wenzes. Do you think a INFJ would suit being in a digital marketing environment. I have tried all sorts of different positions and will be starting a position in digital marketing with a company that has a training program to become and account manager. Im not %100 sure if i will like it. I have worked in a office before which wasnt bad but i was frustrated just doing the same thing over again.
I know your comment is from 3 years ago although I was wondering how it went. Did you enjoy it? I’m an infj looking into going into digital marketing and questioning if this a good route to take. I love learning about marketing although I haven’t had experience in the actual role/ environment itself
@@kirstyharris4257 hi. I did go down that route and in actual fact I did not like it. It's very repetitive tasks with a high pressure and high demand for results. Never appreciated. I also didnt like being in the same building and office day in and day out so I know it's not for me. Maybe your more suited but I know that I was always stressed out. Hope that helps
I've been looking all over to find advice like yours. I'm also an INFJ and I'm going into my junior year in college. I'm a business administration major, and was wondering what would be a good career for something in the finance/ banking field. I watched one of your videos where you talked about being in the banking industry and saying it was really cut throat. I have no problem with competition, but I'd prefer not dealing with people that are willing to screw you over for a raise. Anyways, I've been thinking about maybe being an economist because I've read that it can be really good pay, you can do just about anything with it (teach, banking, gov. etc.) and it can give you more independence than most other jobs. What do you advise?
Everett Yates I studied economics...so I am a fan to begin with. I think it is a good direction, as you said, keep in mind what you can live with and what you can't and work yourself up from there. Now from the beginning what kind of environments you will avoid and if you happen to be in a place where people are 'cut throught' just leave and find another place instead of trying to prove to others or yourself that you can handle it. Too much energy is being wasted on protecting yourself and fighting against others that you can otherwise use to progress in your work. Thank you for your nice message, have a great day, Wenzes
Thanks for the reply Wenzes, the college that I go to doesn't have an Economics degree, but instead offers concentrations in different areas of business. They include: financial services, accounting, supply chain, entrepreneurship, and professional selling. I think the financial services one would be best suited for me, don't you think? I'm also curious about supply chain, I know a bit about it, but don't really know if that might be something worth looking into. What are your thoughts?
Hey Lily...at the time of this recording I was a Consultant in the Banking Field...since then I have switch to a top tier consulting agancy and after 2 years there I was able to quit and concentrate all my time into my coaching offers and this channel 😊
btw thanks for ur respond.wishin' ur success in everything u do :) i wanna ask for ur opinion if u don't mind.my friend suggested as a teacher for my career but i've confidence problem in everything i do.i even own a shop but.i don't know if i can choose a career as an entrepreneur .i think i've a verrrryyyyy serious problem.help me
Lily Yana don‘t worry about not having confidence...this is just a skill...you build confidence by keeping the promises you make to yourself...so start very very very small and prove to yourself that you are going to do what you set out to do...even if it means: I will make my bed in the morning...just make a promise like that to yourself and keep it and you will see how your confidence will rise automatically
i'll give it a try.i always feel not confident but my mind my heart tell me i can absolutely do it. anyway thanks for ur thoughtful opinion.it really helps! this will affect my entire life :D
Fellow infj. I've watched a couple of your videos, and they have been really helpful, but I wanted to ask for some advice. Background I'm an undergraduate law student, final year, just taken 2 gap years due to finally dealing with depression/anxiety after repressing for a decade plus. Question I'm not sure if furthering a career in law is for me. Or its just not specialised (expert) enough yet? Panic!! I think I ran into the problem of not being able to work constantly, and did top when I could cope with thoughts but flunk where my thoughts are lost when looking at other modules, so think is it just... A no? . But to counter is it just because it is not specialised yet? in the uk you must cover all areas of law and specialise in further qualifications later... So I'm thinking if I can grind through and get to a specific field maybe it will be ok..maybe. I'm so sorry for this being all long, I've cut it down best I can. :) I'm just trying to figure out if I'm applying your principles correctly, thanks!
ChIken Hi fellow infj :) I think you should really grind it through, because those years will pass and afterwards you have spezialize. That is exactly what I did. I also had to cover everything in university and there were things I really didn't want to do but now I have spezialized in derivatives, have found a nice company where I don't have to fight all the time and really learn to be an expert in my field. All the best, Wenzes

Even though I like that I will be helping people. I'm a bit confused , Any feedback from anyone will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time reading this very long comment lol.
black pink in ur area! Aw thank you love! I really appreciate your suggestion , I will definitely check it out! It's nice to hear I'm not the only one that's felt like this, again thank you ❤️
black pink in ur area! I wish you the best ! Have you been feeling any better?

How about being a customer service representative over the phone, is that okay?

Thank you for your nice message, have a great day,
Wenzes
Thanks for the reply Wenzes, the college that I go to doesn't have an Economics degree, but instead offers concentrations in different areas of business. They include: financial services, accounting, supply chain, entrepreneurship, and professional selling. I think the financial services one would be best suited for me, don't you think? I'm also curious about supply chain, I know a bit about it, but don't really know if that might be something worth looking into. What are your thoughts?
will merchant navy be a good career for an infj
Hi can i ask what's ur current job?
Background
I'm an undergraduate law student, final year, just taken 2 gap years due to finally dealing with depression/anxiety after repressing for a decade plus.
Question
I'm not sure if furthering a career in law is for me.
ChIken Hi fellow infj :)
I think you should really grind it through, because those years will pass and afterwards you have spezialize. That is exactly what I did. I also had to cover everything in university and there were things I really didn't want to do but now I have spezialized in derivatives, have found a nice company where I don't have to fight all the time and really learn to be an expert in my field.
All the best, Wenzes
INFJ:BelowtheRadar-AbovetheSystem thanks for the reply.
I'm new to the personality type stuff, and it really helped me understand my thinking patterns...and that of my enfj brother which you have some solid advice about on your other video.
Keep well.
This video made me curious, what job did you find that is optimal for you? Referring to RUclips? If job outside this, I'd like to know. Good work, thanks.
