I don't know about y'all but for me when listening to Sierra sing takes me to a good place. I'm back at my grandparents farm house sitting around the kitchen table drinking a cup of Sanka instant coffee, Grandma humming along with the AM Country station and Grandpa telling some old story. I hate when her songs end as I am drawn back into reality of my day but it was a nice break and for that I am thankful. Weird, yes I know but thems my cards folks.
Sitting in the yard, early evening, listening to my grandfather play guitar.
I wish her songs were endless. Theres nobody else like her. I agree with you, totally amazing
Wish we could go back to grandparents farm house.
Also mesmerized. In 70 yrs never saw overwhelming talent
saving true music lovers from commercial drivel fake music.
I am old man from Kerala, a southernmost state in India. Listening the song, Ms.Ferrell, I was on the verge of whimpering. So beautifully sung…!
I'm an old man from Northern Wisconsin and I feel the same way!!
The pauses she makes in the song are brilliantly crafted. Not only is she a lovely singer but she is a top level songwriter as well.
And a lovely NOT singer as well, I assume 😉
That voice could melt a stone.
I keep returning to this simple song. When I saw that she wrote it herself I admire it even more.
In this gorgeous performance of one of her most beautiful songs, Sierra lets her "jazz mind" and "punk soul" defer to her "country heart." As always, Nate Leath's fiddle accompanies her perfectly.
I hear you. I feel you. The worse it gets the better this sounds.
All I hear is down home country. Great voice, beautiful person in every way, I can think of. I'd love to meet her. I'm infatuated with her.
Jazz...? Where?? Lol that's the blues my friend =]
Let’s see those Jazz Hands!
@@siastone93 they improve perfectly as a unit
Nate Leath is so fantastic in this session too, love this song.
If this doesn't make you stop, sit and listen I don't know what will.
Plenty of other music will.. but yeah, this is decent stuff.
doing the west virginia waltz
AND CRY....
@@LuckyLarry I'm with you there omg...
Yes Ma'am West Virginia Mama Here and Gladly so . God Bless you in all your days .
It doesn't get anymore country than this ! Singing from the ♥
I love the "space" in this song. It's sweet and sparse like someone sitting on their front porch playing after a day in the field. She gets it! I've played with too many people who want to make every song "Free bird" and this is refreshing!
You nailed it on that one
Yes, "the space" in the song is wonderfully calming. Love it.
Amen! You sweet tater you :-)
I think she feels how to use use the wispy lilt of her voice most naturally. Being unhurried is the key. A bit of Billie Holiday or Monk. She'll be "near" the beat, be patient. From a non-musician.
Well it’s a waltz so ...
Sierra is a breath of fresh air for the country loving community
IF music can heal , this is the one.. Her voice soothes my troubled soul.. I just want to be here..
Me too ! you put it perfectly !
very well said
I can't believe how amazing this is.
I can, it’s miss Ferrell
I love Sierra Ferrell. She is an amazing singer and songwriter. I also like this guy Brett McDaniel. He isn't as well known. So much talent out there. ruclips.net/video/xVlvlUfiZ34/видео.html
Same
you can :)
This !
Her voice is an obvious beauty, but I love the extended instrumental break covering an entire verse and chorus so early in the song. They play well together. Love this
A great pairing these two..
Right? I love when an artist can just "hang out" in a song, so to speak. To not be in a rush to just sing the verses and get it done, but just play and let us relax and get lost in the song for a short time before continuing on.
I love Sierra Ferrell. She is an amazing singer and songwriter. I also like this guy Brett McDaniel. He isn't as well known. So much talent out there. ruclips.net/video/xVlvlUfiZ34/видео.html
Yes
She takes us all on a musical journey like no other. Makes us proud and feel happy inside. Thank-you Seirra Ferrell ❤
Dont look at the camera... Sierra looks at the camera for a split seconds and everyones heart melts.
Yes ! when she does that , its as if she is looking at me personally - and my heart moves
THANK YOU!!! For these two artists for doing this song, I can picture my parents slow dancing to this in their kitchen, so long ago, YOU have literally brought a memory alive for an old man! Thank you!
The cameraman was like: "let's focus on that space in between the people"
Lol, yeah this camerawork is some of the worst I've seen. Like, it holds potential to be pretty dang good...if they just put the camera/cameras on a tripod.
he was trying to focus on the music and went a little bit too far ))
Lol
Yeah lol what’s up with that
I guess you can't see the music. It's more than just the two people playing it.
Her voice has moments that take me back to Loretta Lynn. Fantastic.
kinda has a janice joplin voice
Much agreed. Needs to choose her songs and recording venues more carefully.
@@friedrichwilhelmvonsteuben7952 More like KD Land I'd say but yes Janis is there too.
This gal is a Revelation. Thank you darling for persisting with the Music. Speak from the soul, sing from the heart my love.
This woman has brought back traditional country!! I was randomly talking to this guy at the bar and he told me about her. Ever since then,I been listening to her music. She's such an amazing artist.
it never left bud. but you're right, she's really good.
Sierra is awesome, as always. It must be added, and I think she would agree, that both people in the studio are necessary to accomplish what went on here. The violin and his quiet backup vocals add SO much to this song.
Agreed
Can't remember his name, Nate something...he plays on "before I met you" with Sierra on Western AF channel ... definitely worth checking out if you're not familiar with that version 👍👍
He has a small channel with his partner, _"Nate and Audrey"_
@@jimaldo64 - Thank you, I’ll definitely look into it.👍
@jimaldo64 fiddle player is Nate Leath
I miss West Virginia. If you guys haven’t lived there that’s your loss. West Virginia is something you can’t understand till you experience it. I’ve wanted to do a concept album just based on how much I love that state. It’s one of the best places on earth.
I get it! There's a lot of truth to that statement about an understanding of the people and the culture only by living there. Sierra, through her voice and songs, conveys some of that soul searing intimate knowledge
I miss it too. After this Covid shite dies down, I will be there DV. What is it like?
I live there now ! Been allover the world.. Bought a house on a mountain and I'll never leave this place
West Virginia is like the Romania of America... Wrong turn... You die 🤣🤣 all that aside. That woman is amazing!
@@haxanhex9175 "Mountain" lol You've got shit for mountains out there, son. Come spend some time in the rockies. Might see a mountain or 2 lol. My family left humid, muddy water ass WVA and found the big sky in Montana. But don't come here...it sucks ;)
This woman is as genuine as music gets. Her band brings the house down. All around fucking great! Saw them in STL.
Sierra has become one of my favorite singer/songwriters of all time. This is badass.
I love Sierra Ferrell. She is an amazing singer and songwriter. I also like this guy Brett McDaniel. He isn't as well known. So much talent out there. ruclips.net/video/xVlvlUfiZ34/видео.html
what does "badass" mean?
@@harmoniabalanza lol. Its just the term i use to describe something being super cool or super awesome
Best voice I've heard in a while.
I now watch this daily. Love the simple, old-style, way of playing......and Sierra's voice is a National Treasure!....and I'm admiring this from Australia.
Going to have to rethink what we're doing... love this rootsy style of bluegrass
Awesome voice and sweet playing. 21st century country musicians can truly play and sing. Sierra has the presence too and the feelings shining through. Love this.
This stuff REALLY needs to be available on vinyl.
@@JSTEW1013 Yeah, I got my copy already. It's really good.
I don't know about a record album, but this is on her first full release (on CD) called Long Time Coming. It came out Aug. 20, 2021
@@scottpeeples766 If you're interested, it's on vinyl now. Got my copy a few weeks ago. Amazingly good record.
God help me...this just brought me to tears! I feel like Im hearing something from my childhood! This completes me! 🌹🌹🌹
Iam in love with her and her music...great voice, song writer and guitarist
Us have Hank williams,Johnny Cash, waylon jennings, dolly parton and so on it goes, and now you have sierra ferrell, and she is for me a living legend up there with big ones.By the way greetings from sweden
I was thinking the same thing today. One word names Hank, JR, Dolly, Waylon, Sierra.
True but you have Greta. So we both have something great.
Amazing how her voice can hit the soul take you to a place you may have never been before. I swear she could sing probably anything no problem
I love Sierra Ferrell ... one hell of a songwriter. The way she puts those little hooks in there, like "the West Virginia Waltz" part.
so glad this song made the album!! such a good song
this is a masterpiece.
The fiddle player is Great too !
John Young doppelgänger foot John Paul White wouldn’t be surprised if it was he.
She MELTS ME EVERY DAMN TIME
Wow, what a voice, love Sierra’s guitar as well
The strings are on point. Absolutely beautiful song. 👊
Wow ! I got the chills and the hair on the back of my neck raised up at the first sound of her voice ! Something special with this young lady ! Reminds me of how I feel when I hear Hank Williams Sr .
She needs to do a cover of Merle Haggards Rambling Fever. It fits her life story. I would love to hear it. A special talent!
Her voice has such soul.
Such an eclectic and almost timeless voice.
Also she is stunning without any makeup or her hair done in any way. Love seeing women in their natural state showcasing their natural talents. I have a feeling her personality bends for no one...
The moment I found her, I was instantly smitten, and it happens again every time I hear a song.
My Lord, I think I'm in love.
She has such a gorgeous silvery voice! Please keep em coming!
Diggin the sound of that Blueridge!
This performance is only eclipsed by her performance at Tulips in Ft.Worth Texas on 2-20 -22. Greatest song I've ever heard anyone sing
A sonic time warping mechanism. This music makes time go by slower, as the place it is from and about. She sings it perfectly.
Just discovered Sierra Ferrell today, stopped me in my tracks! What an incredible talent!!
Lord have mercy finally some Real talent on RUclips. Thank you for bringing some folk songs to the fore front. #talent
The sweetest sound to my ears. I'm in awe. We love you so much Sierra for bringing it !!!
This duo has to be the best in country music right now.
Agreed.
One of.
It's so cool that the best "country" right now is these face tattooed, raised on alternative rock mixed with the great trad country classics folks. All the mainstream country is absolutely trash. There is such a contrast that the former shouldn't even be called country so it doesn't get mixed in with the garbage on the radio.
Yes but lost dog street band is great also
She has thawed my cold heart and set fire to my timbers since I first heard her. Never could get my fill
As a native West Virginian, I am very happy to see this
Ditto
Ryan Thomas same here. I just discovered her here on RUclips yesterday. I have been playing her songs every since , I even went to sleep with her singing and playing around 3:00 am.
I didn't know anyone could sing that good now days. I'm a Old Timer , 74 yrs old some days and young other days .
Andso you should be.
Wow. Best version I've heard of the song. I'm not cryin, you're cryin...
The first time I heard her sing I fell in love with her voice, thankfull for RUclips suggestions
This voice shall haunt me and my musical choices now. Well pleased to have found this.
My new favourite singer. Her voice soothes my soul.
Such an amazing voice.....
My pop's family are all Kanawha Valley folk... My Eastern NC raised tail loves some Sierra Ferrell music (not the 1st Ferrell from WV I've known, but the best I've listened to!)
Best version
Love the sound of her voice!
Incredibly satisfying to hear your angelic voice. Thank you Sierra. So many of us adore your tallant. You are so loved kiddo.
Never stop Sierra!
She's f***kin' amazin'! She has a one in a million voice. Sierra, you make the album, I will buy it!
I'm in love
my great grandpa just passed away January 27 2020 at the age of 83 he was from west Virginia and i just want to thank you for you beautiful vocals i needed some closure i miss him so much
RIP
Reminds me of my Grandfather... taught me what I know about guitar. My favorite song he played was Wildwood Flower. This song reminds me a lot of that song and that genre.
Check us out on Bluefield One ...not bluegrass but you could tell we have some roots from there... we've been all over the board since the pandemic but hopefully some good material in there
Check us out on Bluefield One ...a little Americana from the deep south
Amazing voice, quality audio, amazing musicians. One of my new favorites. Looking forward to more great music like this from Sierra. He new look is quite pretty.
This song is like a lone gentle breeze coming in an old western town, a dry summers day on an early afternoon, rolling past a bitter old cowboy drunken off the sweet, sweet memories of a daughter he once had, a wife he once knew.
*A stranger spits in a bucket on the floor and utters.. " uh huh, thats just how it goes"
And the last time he saw some other guy they waltzed. Brokeback Mountain 2.
I love Sierra Ferrell. She is an amazing singer and songwriter. I also like this guy Brett McDaniel. He isn't as well known. So much talent out there. ruclips.net/video/xVlvlUfiZ34/видео.html
As said by a poet. Thank you for the image of a life gone by.
A classic song & a classic performance -what a joy! Thank you Sierra and Nate! Long May You play and share your music!
I can't get over just how great this is.
Awesome song
The voice the fiddle the simplicity. Thank you. So awesome
love this, the music is so sweet, and her voice is mesmerizing. love it
Met Sierra in person at a hotel i worked at in Dallas. She is exactly what you see. She loves music and has that same ethery look. She's lovely.
Just found this girl...hot damn that voice.
Just heard her for the 1st time today. OMG!!! Amazing!!!

West Virginia original bless you young lady I love your music

Just beautiful..thank you!
A neighbor made me a Fan of 30's Music . Sierra's style fits right in . And I will be keeping up with her career from now on .
Absolutely love her voice and style
Just when you think it can't get any better ...
She stayed at my house a few times in Fayetteville WV back around 2006-08ish. I remember we all played guitar together for a while and she sang a couple that she wrote. It was good, but nothing jawdroppin. Fast forward to a few years ago and I'm showing my buddy this girl named Sierra Ferrell that i found on RUclips.. he was like.. "uhh yeah bro you don't remember her...?" She had gotten so much better i didn't even realize it was her!! I love her voice. Very talented.
There's more to that story, but that's the only part i'm tellin! 😂
Beautiful from the strings to the vocals
Please come to texas!!!!!!!!!!!! You will have a crowd miss sierra!!!! (And friend) I love your music!!!!
Amazing, truly amazing this spoke to me thank you
I'm seriously in love with her voice.
So so sweet....such a great laid back feel. Shes one of a kind
I LOVE IT ! WV!
So talented. Im from Clarksburg West Virginia. This is the real deal. No smoke or mirrors. REAL!
I so love the guitar scenes. A very beautiful voice Sierra.
Clean, clever, and pure tone. Wow!
Amazing work
So beautiful. Thank you.
