Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RUclips, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RUclips. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RUclips, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.

Thank you for playing Like A Hurricane. I listen to you every day, and you're one of the best Reactors on RUclips. I had requested this
song on one of your previous Neil Young Reactions. Your diversity of playing different types of music from different times is always
a joy to watch. And your witty, intelligent commentary reflects your understanding that music touches us emotionally where words
alone can't. That music brings everyone a unique pleasure that human nature cannot do without. Your hard work brings joy and
happiness to so many of your elderly subscribers who enjoy seeing a young person enjoy music from our youth. Thank you from
all of us old guys in our mid and late 70s. Watching you enjoy old music for the first time is like having a young friend find a
new life experience. POWDERFINGER, KEEP ON ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD, HEY HEY MY MY (Into The Black), RUST NEVER SLEEPS

@@ShawnSalvadoriI agree with the above about your reactions and also I agree with the Powderfinger. It's seems to be set in Civil War time but I don't want to give too much away it's a brilliantly written song and it's just so beautiful musically as well. And it is very heartfelt.

I’ve seen him 5 times, playing different music. The two songs he played every time were “Needle and the Damage Done” and “Powderfinger”. “… and I just turned twenty-two; I was wonderin’ what to do…” It is a brilliant song. It’s so sad you can feel it, but then you realize you’ve never met this character before. You’re having regrets for someone who only ever existed in Neil Young’s mind. That’s brilliant songwriting.

HIS GUITAR PLAYING WAS SO UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT GIB 💯, JUST THE CHORDS HE PLAYED AND THE WAY HE WOULD PLAY THE CHORDS, TEMPO, OFF BEAT, BUT SOO SO RIGHT AND FULLLLL! 😊THAT'S WHY I ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE THAT HE HAD A BUNCH OF 3 MIN. BANGERS WHICH WERE HIS ACOUSTIC & HARMONICA, AND THEN 8-10 MIN. BANGERS WHERE HE WOULD JUST GO OFF ON RANTS WITH THAT ELECTRIC, JUST INSANE, INSANELYYYY GOOD!😊DEFINITELYYYY I DIFFERENT TYPE OF ROCK GOD GUITARIST!👍 GREAT PICK

Neil Young is The MAN. The best thing about him is that he is so unaffected by hi circumstances. Whatever is going on around him, he just delivers the goods, and everything else be damned. He is going to do whatever he is going to do, and everyone else just watch out, because it is going to be great. There's calm in HIS eye.

I love this song. It is my favorite Neil Young tune. This version is OK, but the live "Rust Never Sleeps" version is even better - a better sound mix, more energy, and a minute or two longer. Would highly recommend you doing that version and or the studio version which is also great.
I've had the pleasure of seeing Neil live twice over the years, and he performed this song on both occasions. Trust me when I tell you he is totally in the zone when he goes into both of those massive high octane solos.
Please do "Hey Hey, My My (Out of the Blue), acoustic from "Rust Never Sleeps". Then you're going to want to see/hear "Hey Hey, My My" (into the black) the hard driving electric version of the same song. You're going to love both!! 👍

19 years old and dating a guitar player. He burns me a mix tape with several Steely Dan songs from their first album Can't Buy a Thrill. Still a HUGE Dan fan, here! This song was on it, also. Whenever I hear it I go straight back in time. What an incredible time machine we have in music!

Neil Young is considered a significant influence on the musical genre known as grunge, particularly in the context of the Seattle grunge scene of the 1990s. While Neil Young is not typically classified as a grunge artist himself, his music and approach to songwriting had a profound impact on many grunge musicians and played a role in shaping the genre. Here are some key ways Neil Young influenced grunge:
Raw and Emotional Songwriting: Neil Young's songwriting is known for its raw and emotional quality. He often delved into personal and introspective themes in his music, which resonated with grunge musicians who sought to convey genuine emotion in their songs. Grunge lyrics frequently explored themes of alienation, depression, and existential angst, much like Young's earlier work.
Guitar Distortion and Feedback: Neil Young's use of heavy guitar distortion and feedback in songs like "Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)" and "Cinnamon Girl" had a significant impact on the grunge sound. Grunge bands, including Nirvana and Pearl Jam, embraced distorted guitar tones, creating a signature element of the genre.
Rejection of Commercialism: Neil Young's career is marked by his willingness to follow his artistic instincts rather than conform to commercial trends. This independent and non-conformist approach resonated with grunge musicians, who also sought to maintain their authenticity and resist the pressures of the music industry.
Acoustic Elements: While grunge is often associated with loud and distorted electric guitars, Neil Young's acoustic work also left an impression on the genre. His acoustic ballads, such as "The Needle and the Damage Done" and "Old Man," showcased the power of stripped-down, emotionally charged songwriting, which some grunge bands incorporated into their own music.
Cultural Significance: Neil Young's status as a rock icon and his longevity in the music industry made him a respected figure among grunge musicians. His influence was acknowledged and appreciated by artists in the grunge scene, further solidifying his role in shaping the genre.
Neil Young's impact on grunge is evident in the emotional depth of his songwriting, his pioneering use of guitar distortion, and his commitment to artistic integrity. While he may not be a grunge artist in the traditional sense, his music and ethos helped lay the groundwork for the grunge movement and resonated deeply with the values and aspirations of grunge musicians.

Rare film of Neil . There is a gap between the 1974 shows and THE LAST WALTZ film , with few filmed moments . This shows his appearence , and sharp guitar work at the time of AMERICAN STARS AND BARS .

I dont think Neil has ever played the same solo live on any of his electric songs. He revisits ideas in differing orders but its really just whatever he feels at the moment.

It would be a good custom to always post the exact version in the description so the viewers can find the version of the song and listen to again. (with better sound. A reaction video is something I look at once but a song can be listened to on repeat) Now I can't find the version You listened to which saddens Me because Neils Guitarsolo was EPIC on this one. Thanks for a very nice channel Man

It definitely felt like a proto-grunge growing out of an already kind of loosely defined rock. Fun reaction. I would strongly suggest to check out Down By The River and Powderfinger. Both really amazing and they show you more sides of him but then again, he's just got so much good stuff over a number of years.

I read his autobiography ‘Waging Heavy Peace’. Neil is honest and open. According to him, and he should know, it’s a triple entendre. No hidden meanings here. He wrote the song while he and his friend had stopped the van in the spot they usually stopped to do some cocaine. The song is simply that he was with a woman, he wanted sex, but she wouldn’t stop what she was doing long enough for that to happen. “I want to love you, but I’m getting blown ….. away.” That’s it. I loved ‘Rust Never Sleeps’ and ‘Ragged Glory’, the albums. Try “Love To Burn”. Thanks!

This is one of my favorite songs, and it has to be heard live, with crazy Horse, to appreciate it. This was an excellent choice
Oh, and Neil is known as the Godfather of grunge, or sometimes as the grandfather of grunge-but never heard him called the father of grunge
    My favorite line is
“There’s somewhere safer where the feeling stays. I wanna love you but I get so blown away”
Other great Neil young songs that must be heard live: Cowgirl in the Sand, Cortez the Killer, cinnamon girl, Tonight’s the Night, Down by the River, Powderflnger, Southern Man, hey hey my my
For amazing four part harmonies and four acoustic guitars it’s a must to hear Crosby stills bash and young at Woodstock performing suite judy blue eyes

Worth having a look at the later version, even more manic. Older & wiser, he'd cut his hair and had an old sidekick from Buffalo Springfield on bass and Nils Lofgren playing a monkey-ish support role. Don't miss it!
