I’ve had three kindles, two of which were handmedowns so they had a LONG life. I just got the refurbished 10th gen paper white and am so impressed and it was a steal, and more eco friendly. The only reason I upgraded was because my husband really wanted my second one (kindle touch) - he’s never had one before. So that old one is now on its third owner. Kindles are so amazing - such a low price point and you can easily get 5 if not 10 years of use from them (I had my second for 8 years and I was the second owner and it’s still going strong for my husband). At that rate, especially when you rent library books, your price per book is… idk 25 cents?
I was a physical book reader (yes, total bookworm) and got tired of having to monitor my plane reading so I didn't finish before landing. In a panic one year, I bought a paperwhite before a long flight to visit family in Europe. Best buy I've ever made! I've given them to my entire family because I love mine so much. The signature looks like my next choice. Thanks!
I love my Kindle Oasis. I love the physical buttons for page turns and I love the fact you can turn off the touch screen and just use the buttons because I kept turning pages by just holding the Kindle. Oasis is water resistant too. The screen rotates so you can hold it in either hand comfortably.

@@mr_red13 Yep! If you have an iPhone you could test it out on the books app to see if you like it, or go to an apple store. Especially if your looking for an all in one style device. But if you’re JUST looking for something to read on and thats it, save some money and go with the Kindle.

I have a Kindle fire10.1 and love it so much. What made my purchase was it was the battery life, it can last a few days with the WiFi turned on. I also needed more storage for my books and apps, the 10.1 has 64GB and I haven't ran out of storage yet. I have had three Kindle, the keyboard ). I also have a kindle fire 7 9th generation. I have glaucoma and my Kindle helps with my eyesight. I am an avid reader as well, my favorite thing about Kindle is that take it everywhere and it isn't bulky in my purse. Now that I have gotten used to and purchased a few Kindles, I will always purchase them
We are Kindle twins!!! Love the newest paperwhite signature with my lilac case! I love the dark mode for reading at night, and the way I can balance the warmth and brightness for daytime reading!
I love the way this was fair and balanced. For me, on upgrading my trusty 4th Gen Kindle, it came down to the fact that I only need a basic reader and the White Model is the obvious choice, if like me you can't abide fingerprints! I bought one, at a knock down price in the UK and I'm chuffed to bits with it. I got used to the navigation really quickly and I love the fact that I now have, albeit with a bit of work, my Kindle Library organized by category. I don't use the in built light, to be honest, I prefer reading in bed, by lamplight, but there may be the odd occasion where I don't have a light source, so it's a useful feature to have. Interesting that you don't think a case is necessary. I have it in the OEM case, which I like, but it is a bit on the heavy side. Before putting my 4th Gen up for sale, I did use it "naked" for a few days and much preferred the experience! 😉📚
i don’t think i’ve ever seen an american content creator accommodated UK viewers with a currency conversion. i know it’s oddly specific but that made me really happy🥰
I still have my Kindle Voyager and I am loving it. I hope it continues working and I never have to replace it 😂 I never wanted to replace my first Kindle but unfortunately it just stopped working one day, and I bought my Voyager then. Totally love Kindle but also love printed books 🥰
Voyage is the best hands down! My battery finally gave out and I replaced it after seeing a video on RUclips and buying a new battery on eBay. It’s back to acting like a brand new voyage again. Hope they bring it back.
I have a fire tablet with a matte screen protector on it. I paid $60 for the device and $20 for a case and I love it to read! A little cheaper than the basic kindle (now $100) and i can make my screen different colors.
This was super helpful to point my hubby in the right direction for my birthday gift :). Since getting my Kindle in Feb, I have read more than I have in YEARS!
I agree! I have a Fire tablet and don’t like using it to read because it’s heavy so I bought the basic Kindle for $50 on Black Friday and it’s been great. I can read without getting distracted by Facebook or the Internet. And it’s much lighter weight I’m 63 and kindles have been a game changer for me because I have very poor vision. Now I can enjoy reading because I can adjust the font and the light etc. I wish they said that around when I was in graduate school.
Have had quite a few kindles. I read at least a book a day. The connector gets loose if you use constantly, especially if you try to charge while reading. So get the insurance with your purchase because they won't fix it. Found the cord makes a difference because some are tighter when connecting or I would have tossed another one so I bought a stand to charge my kindles and phone. Hercules Tuff Charging Station for Multiple Devices with 6 USB Fast Ports and 6 Short Mixed USB Cables for Cell Phones and Other Electronics Silver . The kindle with buttons is lighter which is nice when you carry it everywhere and it charges much faster which is important to me when interrupted. I like having a case for it. Strongly recommend a triangular pillow from amazon with a ledge to hold your kindle and your other handheld device. The angle changes with each side of the pillow so it works in your lap on on your stomach in bed by flipping it and it is washable. I bought two because I was carrying it around the house. Ontel Pillow Pad Ultra Multi-Angle Soft Tablet Stand, Blue Since I have nerve damage in my hands the buttons are great because swiping over a long period is a problem and the pillow prevents damage to my hands because I am not holding the device. Strongly recommend both if you read constantly. My reading is a combination of Amazon Kindle unlimited, Bookbub ads of free books or cheap ones to my inbox (you select the the type of books) and of course regular books from my library or the city's library. Happy reading Remember when vacations were difficult trying to carry so many books. Oh another great benefit is reading a book in public like on the bus, and you no longer get embarrassed by the front cover when they change publishers to a romance one, and I get embarrassed by bare chests when it used to be a woman and her motorcycle.
This is cool-I am addicted to the Kindle app on my phone and iPad but I may need to make this inexpensive investment! I got my first library card by myself at the age of 5 on the Bookmobile. Times were different back then and when I boarded the Bookmobile grabbed a book and started reading it out loud it impressed the librarian
I read most of my books on my Kindle (I have the Oasis) and I just love it - I have poor eyesight so having the ability to adjust font size is such a blessing! I had previously owned a few different versions of the Paperwhite - which I loved - and last year decided to upgrade to the Oasis using trade-in points and other gift cards. At the time, I chose it for the features that the Paperwhite lacked so I will say I absolutely have enjoyed using it. HOWEVER now that the new Signature Paperwhite has these features AND USB-C, my next upgrade will be a Paperwhite. PS you are the reason I read the All Souls trilogy and I just adored it so thank you!
I love my kindle oasis for night time reading. I don't need a book light or to bother my husband. If my eyes start to strain, I can up the font size easily. And when traveling, I can have options of books to read w/o all the bulk. Love the battery life and the super light weight. My ONLY beef is how COLD it is in my hand! I do have a nice faux leather cover for it, but I remove it when reading so it's lighter, and then my hand freezes. Maybe I need to look into a skin for it?
I so agree! Reading is one of the best things out there, and being out of med school, PhD and residency means more time to read other stuff! Yay!! I live in Sweden, but have a US library card since postdoc a couple of years back, I LOVE that I can borrow library books on there! Sweden has opted for non-kindle ebook options for libraries, which it too bad - I won’t buy another ebook reader! :) I have the new paperwhite and really like it!
Thank you for making this. I’m embarrassed to admit but have always been sort of intimidated by purchasing a Kindle-now I am informed and plan on it! Good to see you so relaxed and smiling. On another note I follow Dr. Cellini and of course you guys are friends-lol.
Hi Kristina, thanks for the thorough review on the Kindle! Like yourself I am an avid reader and am thrilled that my Grandchildren are as well. As soon as I hear that they are loving “chapter” books, I buy them a Reader for either their birthday or Xmas (whichever comes first)!
Oh! Kristina I am your aunt-separated by the world. I too have owned a Kindle since the arrived. I have owned the first first and many iterations of the kindle. I love my paper white, I have books on order at all times. Plus I buy a few. I have always been so impressed by the battery life. And now that I am older, my eyes require just the right lighting to read; I only read on my Kindle. Yeah! Thank you!
I have had a Kindle 4th gen ever since they came out and I'm unsure on whether to upgrade or not. Your video was very useful in giving me a much clearer idea of what I'm looking for in a kindle.
Thank you so much!!! I am shopping for an avid reader and an "I want to be a reader but may just stick this is a drawer and forget about it" reader. This was so helpful.
I still have my 2016 kindle. I also bought it second hand and still love it. And I’m not going to upgrade anytime soon until it won’t work anymore. I think kindle is one of the devices that you don’t need to upgrade yearly or even after 10 years or so.
Thank you so much for your time making this video! It was so helpful in guiding me in my kindle purchase! Your notes in the description were also *chefs kiss*. phenomenal job!
Great info! I've used a Kindle for MANY years and I love it!! However, over the past several years audio books have become my jam. I do a lot of yard work so, listening to audio books is an easy and convenient way for me to keep up my 'reading' and accomplish my yard work at the same time.
This was really helpful. I have a 7th generation paper white and I was tempted to upgrade to the oasis but now I’m going to get the newest paper white instead.
I really love my Kindle Oasis so much which is also my first one. I feel it was like the best investment I made back in 2020. It makes reading so much better yet fun! ♥️
I'm traveling out of the country in April, and I'm already thinking about the books I want to have on my Kindle. And I just ordered the Paperwhite Signature Edition. 😍
I love to read, and yes, I read for pleasure most of the time. I really think it's good for my health! I have had three kindles. Real books are nice, but take up too much space in the home and the handbag, plus the "next in the series" problem. Kindle solved that. Paperwhite (second kindle on) solved the "I'm trying to sleep darling, please can you turn out the light?" problem. I am on Kindle 3, can't remember which gen it is but have had it for a few years now. Next, I would like to have one that allows audible books while I am walking, or maybe even driving. I know the last couple of gens have this. I might also like to see comic books in colour, so I am crossing fingers that the one which will come out in September will have that feature in the paperwhite, and I can get it for myself for Christmas. I don't really want the Fire. My husband has it, and really, if I want those features, I would use my laptop instead.
Still using my original UK 1st generation kindle 3G in dark charcoal gray with the keyboard Fortunately I love reading books multiple times and I have lots of reference books loaded on it as kindle no longer support wifi downloading on to it. Can do it via wire from a computer, but who has time for that? I read newer books on my iPad via the kindle app. I may be tempted to buy a new kindle if I am ever travelling again
This is perfect timing for me. I have been wondering exactly which one to get. I just started reading nightly in my late 40’s. 😬 I’m so glad I did. Thank you.
I just purchased this today based on your recommendation. I hope you get some credit for it. I had the Kindle 2015 paper white. Nothing wrong with it. But you sold me on the Kindle limited edition. Although it took me 2 months to watch this video completely. 👌🏽
I just got the basic white version & as a fairly light reader, I am happy. Plus I like the white colour. If you read quite a lot, you will be better off with paperwhite for sharper text & other benefits.
Wow!! Such an incredible book review!! Thank you so much, you helped me so much to pick the right one. I read ALL THE TIME and basically running out of space. lol Thank you!
I had a Kindle paperwhite for 7 years, when that broke down I went with the basic kindle because it came with a backlight. The Kindle Oasis was interesting, but I couldn't justify the price.
I bought the Kindle Fire (or the Amazon Fire 7 Tablet) for $35 bucks because it was on sale and I love it. Though you can just get the kindle app on your phone if you're going to be reading on screen anyway, I love the accessibility options such as the Text-To-Speech option that you can sub as an audio book so you don't have to waste money on an audible subscription or something like that. It reads as you do or you can set it down and click play at any speed you like. This is a built-in option into the kindle app but exclusively on Fire tablets/older model kindle fire tablets only. Just something I did to save some money.
Have two Kindles with 10th Gen Paperwhite as the newest. Fire Tablets are dirt cheap now. Wondering how different the reading experience is with like an HD 8. This was a FABULOUS review!
I have kindle 4th gen. When my battery was not good anymore, I was looking into buying one, but I want neither touchscreen nor too many buttons, so I invested in new battery and I'm sooo happy. 4th generation is best in my opinion
I would say... That for someone in a budget, and wants to test the Kindle water...7th gen Paperwhite ($20-30 used)... Or, ideally, the Voyage ($40-50 used). Especially if you can get it with the official cover.
I have been a Kindle user for years too. And I love it. I had a Kindle paperwhite that I bought in 2015 and used it everyday (bookworm here). Unfortunately it just died a few weeks ago (RIP my friend😌). I have upgraded to a Gold Oasis now❤
I absolutely love my Kindle Paperwhite 😍 Read nightly (my sleep aid) 📚💤 Borrowing books from public Library is such a great option! Great review KB! xx
Your points of the asymmetrical design of the Oasis, I totally agree with, as I have the 2017 Oasis . The main reason I upgraded over the original Paperwhite that I had was the more even lighting and bigger screen compared to the Paperwhite. If the Paperwhite had the features and the same lighting as the Oasis, I would def go back to a Paperwhite
I used to. be someone that could not fathom reading on an ereader. i bought a kindle two weeks ago and i am obssessed. it is soooo worth the buy!! especially if the books you like tend to be longer. also, i use it for reading books for school. they are cheaper on kindle
I love love love my Kindle. I used to bring books with me everywhere - I ALWAYS had a book in my purse. I’ve had small kids for about 17 years now (thanks, old lady fertility 😂), so now I mostly “read” audiobooks. If you can’t sit to read, there are also free audiobooks from the library! Use Libby or Hoopla to connect to your local library system. I “read” 5+ audiobooks a week 😂 On vacation when my kids are around, I can go through a book a day - reading for hours and hours. That’s my literal ideal vacation. Reading all day for a week. The Paperwhite is WORTH it if you read at night and have a partner who doesn’t want a light on.
I had a kindle with keyboard wasn’t fond of it But when the paper white signature came out I ditched another brand of ereader to go to Kindle and absolutely love my signature ♥️ my daughter now has the new kindle as well and loves hers …she even reads her Manga on it. Best decision ever. I’ll be getting my dad one for Christmas as he has another brand that I had given him when I got mine. Hands down the kindle is the best on the market…I had all the others and they were ok but messed with my eyes. This paper white does not, it’s great. Also Amazon books has a much larger selection of ebooks as well. Plus you can side load if your good with a pc.
I finally decided to get a Kindle. I got the Kindle Paperwhite 11th gen. And I got it when it was on sale so to me it was a good deal and it's exactly what I need. And hopefully it'll help me read more digital books and stop buying so many physical books. 😋
Talk about a video being right on time! I have been thinking about getting a kindle device. I have a Barnes and noble Nook device and I think I messed it up. 😣 Because I love physical books, I decided to read books from the library and buy fiction books on my device. That will help me cut down on the cost of books. Sadly not all the books I want to read can be found in eReader format. But having an eReader has still been helpful thus far. Thanks KB!
I keep reading on my phone, which I know is probably not the best. Just one less thing to keep track of. I’ve been looking at Kindles, so I’m this was perfect timing.
My Paperwhite died a few months ago. Apparently they are known for fried motherboards. Finally purchased the signature edition and love it (hopefully lasts longer)….but am I the only one that HATES the location of the power button!!!!

@@mr_red13 Yep! If you have an iPhone you could test it out on the books app to see if you like it, or go to an apple store. Especially if your looking for an all in one style device. But if you’re JUST looking for something to read on and thats it, save some money and go with the Kindle.
@@brattyangel1621 you’re right, I think I do want it to do more than 1 thing, like read comics.
Did you go for the cellular iPad?
@@mr_red13 No, I found that most of the time I have Wi-Fi (home, hotels etc) and when I know I won’t I just make sure to download whatever I want to watch….movies, episodes and make sure I’ve already bought/downloaded whatever books I want to read
And it’s much lighter weight
I’m 63 and kindles have been a game changer for me because I have very poor vision. Now I can enjoy reading because I can adjust the font and the light etc. I wish they said that around when I was in graduate school.
Just bought my signature edition the other day and it’s coming in on Monday! I’m upgrading from the 2018 version and I’m so excited 🥰🥰🥰
ooh yayayay
Omg the bookmobile! So cool Amy!!! I would have died as a kid to see one
Ahhhh love the All Souls Trilogy!!
I'm on week 8 with my signature paperwhite. Just his 60% battery life. Love it.
Personally, the lack of buttons is a deal-breaker for me with the Paperwhite.
Glad it was helpful! and yes medicine on youtube is a small world! lol
Thanks so much for this video I've been wanting an ereader for so long, this finally gave me the push to get the basic kindle
Thx Kristina! I will be finishing grad school in May and cannot wait to resume reading for pleasure with a new Kindle.
You read not mind!! I’ve been looking to get a kindle and didn’t know where to start. This was video was so helpful!! You rock! 👌🏼❤️
*my
I’m LOVING all these new video topics lately! Keep going Kristina! :D I always recommend you to anyone who asks me for new RUclips channels to follow!
Yeah! Thank you!
Great review- seriously. You gave great details on each one, and I appreciated your honest reviews.
Glad it was helpful! I appreciate that!
I love my paperwhite but I miss my 3G Kindle with the ‘experimental’ browser. It was so good for free basic internet when travelling.
Me too -loved that thing
Omg you read my mind. I been thinking of getting a kindle. Just want something that is worth what i pay. So thank you.
I got a new kindle because of your video and I love it so freaking much! And it was on sale got the paper white signature version! So happy!
I upgraded to the new Signture edition and the warm light is the best thing especially since I wear glasses and it does not hurt my eyes
Thanks a ton definitely getting myself a Kindle asap.
Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you so much for your time making this video! It was so helpful in guiding me in my kindle purchase! Your notes in the description were also *chefs kiss*. phenomenal job!
Glad it was helpful! It's my pleasure!!
Great info! I've used a Kindle for MANY years and I love it!! However, over the past several years audio books have become my jam. I do a lot of yard work so, listening to audio books is an easy and convenient way for me to keep up my 'reading' and accomplish my yard work at the same time.
I agree- I love the signature edition paperwhite! I’ve had it about a year. I also love and the pink/lilac cover! I have to have!
This was really helpful. I have a 7th generation paper white and I was tempted to upgrade to the oasis but now I’m going to get the newest paper white instead.
I just got myself the basic kindle and love it! I also have a kobo e-reader as well use them both!
Omg! I was just saying yesterday I wanted a kindle!!! You read my mind!! ❤️
Perfect! let me know what you end up going with!
I get you on the pink. Any time I see an electronic and it comes in pink, I have to have it. It's the pink tax and I fall for it everytime.
Still using my original UK 1st generation kindle 3G in dark charcoal gray with the keyboard
Fortunately I love reading books multiple times and I have lots of reference books loaded on it as kindle no longer support wifi downloading on to it.
Thank you.
Hope you enjoy it!
Yes you can’t go wrong with that!
Love the shimmy when introducing the signature edition🥰
I wish the new paper white kindles come in white. Would definitely upgrade from my basic white kindle in a heart beat!
Wow!! Such an incredible book review!! Thank you so much, you helped me so much to pick the right one. I read ALL THE TIME and basically running out of space. lol Thank you!
I so agree with you. I, too, have had a Kindle from the beginning. I have a Paperwhite and it is an older version.
Thanks for the video. Awesome informations. I just brought a Kindle basic for my dad and I like it a lot. I think I will buy one for myself too.
I just bought the paper white 11th edition but not signature. I didn’t realize it was auto adjusting. Now I’m wondering why didn’t I catch that?!?!?!?
My kindle paper white was the best purchase ever!
By far the best review I’ve seen.
I appreciate that
Finally. Someone I follow and trust speaks of how amazing g and life changing the Kindle is. Thank you
would love to hear your book recommendations for kindle!! Am trying to read 52 books this year on my kindle (on my commute lol)
My goal is 50.. im slowly getting there.. almost done with book number 2.. lol
Love you made video on Kindles! Yea! 📚
Fantastic thorough review!!!!!!!! ⭐️
This is exactly the type of content I have needed. Been trying to decide if I need to upgrade. Thank you Kristina. ❤📚
I have a kindle paperwhite (last edition) and I am obsessed!!!!!!! I have a pop socket on mine and it’s the best thing ever. 🥰
I’m going to have to try this!! Such a great idea!!
I have the older oasis, I just ordered the new paper white signature edition! Thanks for the recommendation.
Love my kindle. I’ve had one since that one you showed with the keyboard. Love getting my books from the library.
I’m here for you to get on the book tok trend! What are you reading? I also caved and upgraded to the kindle version you recommended 😍
Yeah it’s been moved for a few generations now! I also don’t like the button placement!!!
Unfortunately, in Australia, we can't download library books to a Kindle, as yet.
