So many people complaining about the Bumi representation when his character was the most 'cartoonish' looking in the animated series and would be nearly impossible to translate to live action 'as-is'. Considering I knew who he was right off the bat I think the more...ahem...GROUNDED take works well.

I think bumi looks off cause I think, I’m not 100% sure, but I think it’s a younger guy with makeup to look old. Which is 100% understandable with the amount of crazy things bumi does in his old age
He probably looks off because the doesn't have traps halfway up the back of his head with an equally unrealistically large chest and a scrawny tiny little waist, legs, and arms, as he does in the cartoon, which would probably look dumb if they used enough CG or body prosthetics to pull of in live action.
I know people might be upset about Bumi ot looking the way he does in the cartoon, but if you look back at the cartoon, there's almost no way they could have done a body that old, lanky, hunched over, and BIZARRELY BUFF as Bumi in the cartoon without looking stupid IRL. His traps are INSANE, they're like halfway up the back of his head, and his chest is HUGE while his waist, arms, and legs are tiny. They would have had to do some crazy CG or weird fake looking body prosthetics.
I think Bumi looks good! It would be so cool if it was indeed Sozin who took down Gyatso, and if the show starts off with some epic duel between these two old but experienced benders.
Bumi is over 100 with the body of a young man. A young actor that works out really should be playing him. Also to me, Bumi always looked a bit like he could be homeless.
I hope the water flying off of what she’s bending is more a novice thing, in the animated show they clearly were able to bend the whole of the water without all that extra spillage, seems very clunky and messy with a whole bunch of water flying every which way. Kinda same with earthbending, sand I can understand, but a bunch of small rocks and chunks seems like very sloppy bending.
I want a scrawny Bumi. He's definitely built... but he's also all about surprising you. He's hunched over to hide how tall and fit he is. And having him as tall and lean subverts the idea of earth as bulky, slow, and rocky. By being a master Earthbender he is subverting the stereotype of an earthbender and also leaning into the surprise of his character

I took the quiz three times for good measure, twice getting Earth and once Water (there were a couple questions in there that I would legitimately have two equal answers so retook the quiz a few times to answer with the different answers). Makes sense, though. I've long considered myself an Earth Bender who thinks and bends more akin to water. I guess that more firmly confirms that for me 😅
bending looks awesome, id imagine its a feat to make it look remotely real so im just glad it looks this good, the water bending looked so alive and the earth and fire bending looked fierce 🔥 I really hope that this first season is successful and we see the whole show get remade cause there's so many scenes and characters I want to see from later seasons. Well I wanted to wait to see Bumi for the premiere but I guess not. I have had high hopes for the show since I saw the first pictures and I still do but I’m not so sure about Bumi hopefully he looks better in the show cause what I see here I’m not much a fan of. I think Bumi looks perfect... Just like the show. Now, yes: The hair and the makeup look kind of weird, in that shot.. But it´s also an action shot, of the actual actor (not a stunt double) in the middle of a fight scene... So who knows: Maybe he´s sweating, or he doesn´t look that great in that particular shot, or whatever. Im sure he will look much better in actual talking scenes in the series (I could be wrong, but Im like 99% sure. Also... You just have to get used to it, like with Shanks in One Piece. He used to be a cartoon, and now he has a face... A particular, unique, REAL face. And it´s probably not EXACTLY THE SAME you always imagined, in your head xD).
Katara waterbending looks beautiful and amazing!! Gonna be waking up early to watch the official trailer. I have so many expectations and theories that I want to see in the official trailer. The two main ones for me are the pronunciation of the names. The second one is the bending styles forms. When I see those two things. I'm all in.

The firebender’s flame was not that big, the firebenders eyes should NOT glow because their is no lore for that, King Bumi looks absolutely perfect and exactly like his animated counterpart, and the water bending is also perfect because it’s realistic and not overly colorful

Things are getting better for sure as we get closer and closer to the release date. Bumi of course, don't imagine him as being a frail old man, but he's still going strong in his earthbending. Muscular old man is a possibility, have you seen WWE's Hulk Hogan?
I’m cautiously optimistic about this film. I’ve been betrayed before by the previous attempt at a live action AtLA movie though. I know the OG creators left the Netflix production due to differing ideas and creative differences, but no one ever specified what those differences were. And all we’ve seen from Netflix so far are actors, some costumes, some quick scenes, and bending that actually looks like bending. Not much, but already better than the previous movie attempt. So I’m optimistic that this’ll be better, but also worried. I reserve judgment until I’ve seen the show.

Slight spoilers but at the very end of the original animated show when Ang was fighting OI Owes I got fire in his eyes and was able to shoot fire from his eyes so that was only made possible because of the comment and if that is true for this new live action adaptation then yeah he might be using the comment to enhance his powers than the same way as OI so it's believable that he might be shooting fire from his eyes or his eyes are glowing with fire
