One of the old greats, first written & recorded by the late, great Roger Miller in 1964! ❤ It's been recorded by many artists including Boxcar Willie, another great!
Hey Keith, when you mentioned how brave Josh was to sing with Randy, it reminded me why it works so well . Country music is a family, and we all look out for each other. WE also learn from the older generations. Someone missing from this rendition is the next generation bass Scotty McCreary.
As a long time Randy Travis fan it makes me so happy to see you guys talk about how awesome he is. IMO he is the best country singer of all time. He was Josh's inspiration growing up. I'm not sure if you guys know but several years ago Randy had a stroke and can no longer sing and can say very few words. It's so sad. I'm thankful that I was able to see him several times in his hay day.
this song was written by Roger Miller, you need to listen of his several songs, like "King of The Road", "Dang Me", "Do Wacka Do", "Engine Engine Number Nine", etc.
Yeah, Roger was a genius. He also wrote the entire score for a musical version of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer called Big River, that made it to Broadway. The show won 7 Tony awards and Roger won for best score music and lyrics. I believe he is still the only Country artist to win a Tony. He even took over a role in the show for a few months when John Goodman had a scheduling conflict. ; ))
As I'm sure this video probably made you realize, Josh takes a lot of inspiration from Randy and has an immense level of respect for him. In fact, he has stated in the past that Randy and his music was a big part of what influenced him to go to Nashville.
The rat pack of country would be the highwaymen, I think. I’m glad you guys are back. I really enjoyed this version of this very famous song. Great choice of song. Those guys could sing! Thank you for this reaction. And yes, I like fruity drinks. Guilty as charged. lol 😂
Country had Highwaymen that was all friends that included Johnny, Waylon, Willie, and Kris Kristofferson. They have ablum together and toured would do their individual songs and songs together. PS: that Birddog with lemonade is dangerous
The Rat Pack of Country is The Highwaymen plus Guy Clark. Guy has been referred to as the fifth Highwayman. They recorded both individually and together many of his songs.
Have you heard Randy’s song Where that came from? It’s sort of controversial because it’s an AI generated song that came out last year. It sounds great even though I know it’s really a clone of his voice. The video of it is really good. Just watching Randy and some others listen to his “voice” again is pretty awesome.
Have to be honest, I sit at my computer rewatching all the videos of songs that I know that you all react to repeatedly. Quite literally my favorite channel on RUclips. Love the videos! If possible at some point off channel, I have a guitarist I like that I’d love to see what Keith thinks of. He is not country but I’d like to see an actual music guys opinion
@@BourbonCountryReacts ruclips.net/video/jC-rY6-vbUU/видео.html Just ignore the random trolling stuff he does and let me know what you think of the guitar playing, specifically the "buckethead soothsayer cover"
@@BourbonCountryReacts yeah hes got alot of them that I like, but if i find another good one in shortform ill prob post it. Appreciate the time hope it was enjoyable! ❤
They've actually done quite a few songs together. All of them amazing. Can you imagine when Randy first came out some people called him Cotton Mouth.....Uggg
Keith, I thought about you recently when we got a new song for Choir. It's in a time signature I'd never heard of. Have you ever seen a song in 7/8 time? It's kinda nutty, but also a lot of fun!
Top Cats for me, Keith Urban, Randy Travis, Vince Gill, Brad Paisley and Garth Brooks but I could easily pick another five! So I will, George Strait, Dwight Yokum, Darius Rucker, Toby Keith and Alan Jackson
My picks for the Country Rat Pack: John Anderson, Don Williams, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Josh Turner, Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, and George Strait.... and I am sure I left several out.
The highwaymen and throw in Glen Campbell and then Jerry Reed would be the comic relief. And plus both are monsters on the guitar! My list would be too big, because you have to put George strait, Randy Travis and and probably Chris Stapleton! But hell George strait, Randy Travis, Chris Stapleton and Glen Campbell would be one hell of a group themselves! And I keep thinking of the gentle giant Don Williams! Plus he play guitar pretty good himself! But damn it you got to have Jerry Reed too! So with that said, it just shows I really don't know a damn thing! Lol
Barbara! Wanted to give you a preview, “we’re sorry!” We just got your note and your box, and wow! Your belated Birthday reaction is on the way. We hope you’re doing well! -Dustin
@BourbonCountryReacts I think i said it would be OK if you couldn't make the timeliness. I know you get a lot of requests & you also have lives. I'm just enjoying the videos. I've been listening since you all started.
Tough comparison guys. In Sinatra's Rat Pack there were only really 2 great singers. Sinatra and Dean Martin. Sammy Davis Jr was a great entertainer but not neccessarily a great singer. Bing Crosby did a few projects with those guys, but was never really a Rat Packer. So trying to put together a group of Country guys if the quality of their voices is what you're looking at, may not be a good comparison. Sinatra's bunch were hell raisers and partyers lol, so you'd have to have Willie and Kris and Hank Jr and Waylon etc. Maybe you need 2 different lists??? Food for thought for sure. Oh and king of the Road has one small 3 letter word in it that may be the most frequently misused in any song. Many, many people say "eight by twelve four bed room" but in an earlier line they tell you the rooms cost fifty cents. The correct line is eight by twelve four bit room. I heard Dean Miller (Roger's son) sing 4 bed room and I went on a mission. I found a couple videos of Roger singing live on TV shows etc and slowed it down and he was singing 4 bit room.. Just a little music trivia. Another cool trivia item is in the song that Waylon's wife Jessi Colter wrote, Storms Never Last. Liaten to it sometime. Nothing rhymes. Nothing! Great song though. One of the most often sung duets ever, and such a great song that most people don't even realize it doesn't rhyme. Anyway. Y'all stay safe and well!

ONE of my ALL TIME favorite songs!! As a little girl my Uncle sang this song over and over!! All 5 of us kids knew it by heart!!❤❤

Nah.. Willie and Kris don't have the voice for it. Maybe not even Waylon, idk.
Josh sings a song called 'Me and God' and there's a video where he sings it as a duet with Ralph Stanley that I think Keith may appreciate
My Randy faves are, Look Heart No Hands and I Told you So.
Country had Highwaymen that was all friends that included Johnny, Waylon, Willie, and Kris Kristofferson. They have ablum together and toured would do their individual songs and songs together.

Randy was a waiter in Nashville. The management allowed the staff to sing. It is where he got his start.
The Rat Pack of Country is The Highwaymen plus Guy Clark. Guy has been referred to as the fifth Highwayman. They recorded both individually and together many of his songs.
I was going to say highway men too.
Nah.. Willie and Kris don't have the voice for that consideration. Maybe not even Waylon.
Anything from this concert is First Class!
It would have been amazing to be there! -Dustin
Wow I've never heard this song before. How awesome!
I saw Randy and Josh live. They're awesome!
Thanks guys!
This song is very, very old. Forgot who original singer is. About hobos traveling on trains.
@tabathacarruthers5122 I've heard the song before. Roger Miller sang it. I have never heard this version. I should have been clearer.
two of the best!!!!!!!!
I sure do miss seeing randy. If he didn't have a stroke I can only imagine what music he would have gave us.

They did a record together doing several of Randy's songs. Listen to their version of 3 wooden crosses.
I absolutely love watching you guys react to my favorite genre. 😍
Great duet.

Wow, I have always loved this song but this is the best ever!!!
Kenny Rogers, George Jones, Chris Stapleton, Johnny Cash, Randy Travis, Vince Gill
This song is so great. It takes your mind places. Then it makes the bad bourbon taste half way decent.
I’m surprised how much I liked this version. What a great pick! Now, somebody please bribe these guys to listen to Whisper My Name.
They've actually done quite a few songs together. All of them amazing. Can you imagine when Randy first came out some people called him Cotton Mouth.....Uggg
Highwaymen! 👍Blackberry jam
I love this song but heard it by Roger Miller never heard this version. Thanks for reacting to it
So does that make me two for two? Glad you enjoy diggin up bones with randy and john.
I really loved this video the vocal chops were amazing
Country don't need no rat pack, they have The Outlaws.
-Waylon
-Willy
-Cash
-Kristofferson
-Haggard
-Coe
-Hank Jr
Keith, I thought about you recently when we got a new song for Choir. It's in a time signature I'd never heard of. Have you ever seen a song in 7/8 time? It's kinda nutty, but also a lot of fun!
You need to hear The Statler Brothers version of this.
Well as far as determining a rat pack you would have to do it by decades honestly because country music has many that are on rat pack level
Valid
Wow, I have to agree with Steven. There's too many to choose from for just one pack. Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, Vince...
I have to agree, too. Good observation, my king bourboniite ❤
Top Cats for me, Keith Urban, Randy Travis, Vince Gill, Brad Paisley and Garth Brooks but I could easily pick another five! So I will, George Strait, Dwight Yokum, Darius Rucker, Toby Keith and Alan Jackson
Alan Jackson, King George, Randy Travis, Josh Turner, Dwight Yokum, and Allison Krouse.
My picks for the Country Rat Pack: John Anderson, Don Williams, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Josh Turner, Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, and George Strait.... and I am sure I left several out.
Roger Miller's version will always be my favorite but this sounds pretty good.
There's only one Randy Travis.

Jim reeves, tennessee ernie ford, marty robbins, i missing some, but i consider crooners of country.
I nominate Vince Gill & Verne Gosdin.

My rat pack would be Cash, Travis, Strait, Brooks, and Stone
Walon Jennings
typo in title joshn turner instead of josh
Thanks! Fixed the typo. - Keith
George Jones has to be on the “country rat pack”
Check out Steveie Ray Vaughan crossfire cold

@@jeffdetmer4681 Oh my gosh. That line has always driven me crazy... Because it didn't fit. Thank you.
Please react to Stephen Wilson Jr..amazing guitar player
George Jones would have to be in that rat pack.
I think Frank Sinatra, himself, has highly praised him. I forget the exact quote I heard.
George, Randy, Alan not sure after that.
I would nominate Conway Twitty and Charlie Pride for the rat pack
Kenny Rogers
huckleberries not blueberries
How about an all woman rat pack? I would think you would have to put Dolly, Loretta, Patsy Cline, Reba, Wynonna & Martina McBride in it, for sure!
Like this but with Allison Krouse
With all due respect, Cash was not a “Vocalist”
Did you see my hesitation? 😅 -Dustin
