      To be fair. Modlite is as guilty if not worse. I love my cloud weapon lights. I just don't know how much I enjoy my handheld... My first one was good, sold it. Got another one and it's... Been having weird issues... Going into program mode randomly.. well see if a new tail cap fixes this problems.

  • @fl_protection
    @fl_protection 7 месяцев назад +2

    Love what you guys are doing with the lights. Excellent job.
    As for the new Sig Sauer light, the fact it doesn’t have programmable modes is a turn off for me.
    A few months ago, before I order my Cloud Defensive MCH DUTY, I was using a Streamlight. I had two complaints against the Streamlight handheld; not enough candela, and I did not like any of the three modes it offered.
    After researching different manufacturers, Cloud Defensive MCH is what I was looking for in a handheld flashlight.
    When it comes to pricing, compared to other handheld manufacturers like Modlite and Surefire, the Cloud Defensive comes in middle price tier compared to their competitors.
    Streamlight of course is a good value for the money, but when an end user (or someone that already knows what they want out of a light comes along) they want something better than the value tier bracket of handheld lights.
    And this is where the more expensive tier lights come into the picture.
    With that said, Sig trying to compete with Cloud, with my experience with handheld, there is no competition. At least for someone that knows about quality lights and what they want out of a light.
    I feel who Sig is really competing against is Streamlight.
    And if this is the case, I would give it to Sig on this one.
    As for the higher tier lights like Modlite, Surefire, Cloud… they are in a league of their own.

    • @WerkzHolsters
      @WerkzHolsters  7 месяцев назад +2

      Excellent analysis. Thanks for sharing your detailed thoughts. I suspect Sig was probably targeting Streamlight on price and output, and you're right they came in above. However, form factor plays such a large role that I couldn't help but compare to Cloud. I think the real test will come in when there are a bunch of lights in the wild -- which one has reported issues, and which one just works. Even our torture testing doesn't really show some of the key ways lights fail, such as switches.

    I really like your videos and have been playing around with using 16340 batteries in CR123a weapon lights (i.e. not as specified) and realized that their use gives me considerably brighter output and the option to recharge. There seems to be a shortage of information on this topic and was wondering if you might be willing to say something about the topic, especially since this trick gave me a much better output on my TLR7sub (no other options for my G43x).

    I don't expect Sig Sauer to do it, but this light would be excellent with a Cree XHP50.3 3v. It's a powerful emitter with reasonably high CRI even in high CCTs on the newer batches.

    For the price i kind of feel like this is a bit of a "swing and a miss" from Sig.
    I have a Fenix PD32 V2 that cost half the Sig EDC and has more candela and comparable lumens, it IS a multi-mode light, but the multiple modes can be completely ignored and dont get in the way (which is the best way to have a multimode "tactical" light if you're going to make one, hint hint light manufacturers!)
    Fenix rates their PD32 V2 for 1200 lumens and 39,000 candela on high and comparing it to other lights i believe it, if it doesnt reach those numbers it comes VERY close, and its only $65.
    Great content guys, the light looks like a "pass" for me, but always thankful for more reviews!

    I'm starting to like flashlights with battery status indicators. Once you use a light...it'll have a partially discharged battery. These flashlights are bright...but have very short run times. Lol...but I guess a low battery indicator isn't very tacticool.

    • @WerkzHolsters
      @WerkzHolsters  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Some manufacturers are adding a ton of features, such as battery level indicators. We have a review of a Chinese light on LowLightDefense.com that has those features and more. Adding features usually adds UI complexity, which is a tradeoff.

    • @DinnerForkTongue

    • @WerkzHolsters

I was going to keep in in my backpack but if it got bumped it would for sure start a fire if not caught in time. With my pockets I actually smelled it before I felt it. Haha. I guess if you carry it in a holster or something that would help. Their fix/idea was for me to not have the battery cap fully screwed on. Haha. • @austinbratton9973

    I don't like my light coming on in turbo especially when going to bed. If you have ever shined a light over 1000 lumens in complete darkness you know that it will completely blind you for a couple seconds. I don't think this a wise option especially for indoor house scenarios.
