This pound cake is beyond addictive, which is really dangerous when a recipe is this easy to make! There's a touch of lavender in the batter, which really adds a wonderful depth of flavor to the cake. I Love the texture from the poppy seeds, too bad they get a bad wrap because of sad, stale, and often oily store-bought muffins. I love the way they look suspended in each slice, like nature's sprinkles! I maxed out the lemon juice in this recipe, filling each bite with a wonderful zing. The glaze is so simple but amazing, confectioners' sugar whisked with fresh lemon juice. It hardens for a wonderful crunch and tastes like lemonade! Хобби

Just made this with a bunch of Meyer lemons and it is divine! That little bit of lavender really does something special, so unexpected but subtle. Yay! I made this today and it came out so yummy 👍 instead of sour cream I used lemon Greek yogurt (because that’s all I had without going to the store lol) and it came out so lemoney with still moisture and delish😆 I love your vids and found myself in the kitchen baking more 😊♥️

I made this yesterday and it was scrumptious!! I did leave out the lavender because while I do enjoy the scent of it, I am not a fan of the taste of it. This is so easy to make and soooo yummy! Thanks for a great recipe John! :)

r. I used 1/2 cup milk for the infusion. I also used 1.5 stick of butter (3/4 cup). The hard part was zesting the lemons but it was all worth it.

Do you know if Himalayan salt makes a good substitute for kosha salt? Kosha salt is not available here in the Swedish countryside - though oddly Himalayan salt is!

Poppy seeds can be and often are bitter. Any work-around slash "hack" for this?
I have made many of your recipes and never have a problem. But as tasty as this was my husband and I called it a lemony jell cake. Not sure what went wrong. Too much liquid? 🤷♀️ have to try it again.
Can I use a round cake tin for this? Baking time?

wow, no mixer! I tried making another lemon poppy seed cake recipe and it came out dense and heavy. I'm using a new mixer and thought maybe the paddle attachment was the wrong tool to use as it doesn't really whip but you did it by hand and it turned out fine. Maybe hand power is better than electric power ;-)
For the glaze can I use a little bit of lavender extract?? Or it will be very intense??

Does anyone know what the real milk measurement is? He says 1/2 cup milk but the screen says a cup and the the written instructions also say 1/2 cup.

Hi! I tried making this cake! Twice! :) Tastes really nice but for both times, the cake came out undercooked at the bottom of the cake. Would you have any advice? :) Also I noticed your cup and grams measurements doesn't really measure out for me. For eg: when i measured out 1 2/3 cup sugar, it weighted around 250g (instead of your listed 379g)..is that normal? Thanks for sharing your recipes! will try one of our cupcakes ones soon!

Yes. Plain Greek yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream. Sub in equal measure.
Hello thanks for the recipe! I have made this 3 times and I don’t know why the last two just came out really wet! Any tip to save us :( I really hope to master this pound cake. The only difference is I only reduced the sugar to 1 cup.

I have tried making this recipe several times and it always turns out wet and under inside. It taste and smells wonderful but I really don’t know what is wrong. Can anyone advice? I followed the recipe exactly and I have increased the bake time to 90mins. Please help!

What a coincidence, I was hoping for the same thing. It's my favourite and the only bakery here that sells this is very expensive. There's a recipe for Orange Pound Cake on his website that uses the same ingredients, that could work, just add the poppyseed. I might try this tomorrow 😊

I went to the full recipe link and there it says 3/4 cup butter is 190 g and made it with 190g butter and I though that was a little too greasy… and here in the video, it says 3/4 cup butter 175g… please fix that so other people will know. ..

I just made this cake and the recipe is in many ways off. Too much sugar and too much wet ingredients resulted in zero crumb structure. The finished cake had the consistency of a brick-shaped fudge. Also, to give the estimated baking time a 30 minute window makes me wonder how well this recipe was tested before publication.
Can you skip the lavender?

I think it’s because in his older videos he got more to the point and talked to the cameras less, he started talking more throughout the recipe only recently
I tried doing this and the recipe is a BIG FAIL.
I followed all the measurements in metric and the cake ended up completely wet inside despite baking for 1.5hrs at 180c and almost looking burnt.
Just made it and it came out wet inside 😭😭😭😭😭
It's too buttery for my taste
I’m a bit disappointed. The pound cake was moist, but a little gummy, and it lacked flavor. Not enough lemon or sweetness.
