- When life gives you lemons, make a big batch of lemon cupcakes!! These are one of my favorite cupcake recipes, I love the fluffy, moist crumb with that lemony frosting. Each bite is perfect. They MELT IN YOUR MOUTH and just have an amazing lemon flavor I know you'll love. I decorated them two ways, with a nice traditional dollop and an easy piped butterrcream lemon weddger. i just wanted to pop on here to say that i've made these multiple times and they always turn out AMAZING!! if you're on the fence about trying these, just do it. They're totally worth it

My grandmother has a giant lemon tree and every time we bring so many full bags of lemons home. We have lemon stuff for days and coincidentally my dad went over there about a week ago and brought home 2 big bags full of lemons so this is perfect!

After frosting with lemon buttercream I sprinkled some sugar found at the bottom of a bag of lemon drops on top. Closing in on heaven.

Made this on Sunday, and the cupcakes turned out awesome! The smell and taste were perfect - just the right amount of lemon and sweetness. You could honestly even skip the butter cream part and eat it as is - that’s how good the cupcakes are. Thanks for making another fool proof recipe John 👏 👏
After trying 3 different recipes for margarita cupcakes I found this! I used lime and orange zest and lime juice instead of lemon. These were THE BEST and so easy! Also, I brushed them with tequila while warm. Heavenly with lime/tequila buttercream frosting.

I just made these cupcakes and they were beyond delicious! So moist, so fresh and just sooooo good! Just replaced sour cream with regular Indian dahi, since it wasn’t available and still every bit was perfect 👌🏼

I have never baked a cupcake in my life - found them too boring. These caught my eye, so I made them. Once made (they came out perfectly), I thought that the frosting was way too much (I have never had American buttercream frosting...). However, I followed the recipe and WOW! These are awesome!!!!! Even froze a few as an experiment and they defrosted perfectly. Thank you Sir, you are awesome!

Made them yesterday and these are the best lemon cupcakes ever. I cored the center and added lemon curd and substituted the buttercream with heavy cream and instant lemon pudding. Was amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Wow!!! 2 hours later and I've come back to say OMG these are delicious! I subbed the sour cream for homemade vegan yogurt, used an egg replacer, soy milk and vegan butter. Also used self rising cause I didnt have ap and left out the rising agents.
I've never made cupcakes from scratch but these are honestly the best cupcakes I ever had. 😭
They are so soft and didnt stick to the paper. The yogurt gives them a pleasant twang almost like cheesecake. I could go on and on but I'll stop now. Lol
Oh! And I did cook them an extra 3 min. Just to be sure the egg replacer held together.

I made those today and they taste absolutely AMAZING I didn't have powdered sugar so I made a filling of cherry jam I made before hand and the balance between the sweet jam with the sourness of lemon is immaculate

Just tried this recipe and it’s really good! My cakes didn’t come out as yellow as yours for some reason, so they look more like vanilla cupcakes but they taste great 👍

I made your apple pie the other night (we didn't bother with the latticing haha sorry!) although we called it a Flapple Pie as we didn't have enough apples to fill the pie dish so it ended up being pretty flat, the filling was absolutely delicious and something I'm definitely going to practice and perfect if I can. Thank you so much John for teaching me to make a good apple pie filling after years of trying and failing!
I was looking for a lemon buttercream frosting for my cake and found this! WOW!! Sooo good! The best lemon frosting I have ever had. Everyone had more than one piece of cake and I know it was because of the frosting!

1 cup of granulated sugar
3 lemons
396 g of unsalted butter
2 eggs
120ml / 1/2 cup of sour cream
213 g all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
540g / 4 cups icing sugar
