Usually if you move in a determined direction, and don't dodle, you can get by with just a hiss thrown at you.
It's the hesitation that leads to attacks

Interestingly enough they do throw those wings like fists. I have seen ganders lock up with one another and just exchange left and right hooks until one of them gave up. Happens pre breeding season when the ganders are trying to claim the best geese, but they will throw hands year round if u mess with em, goose or gander

Jogging on this same path another day with my dog on an extendable leash, my dog charged toward the baby geese near the water just off the path. The mama (I think) goose ran back at my small dog who tried to run away from the goose. The goose jumped on my dog’s back and proceeded to flap its wings on my dog.
It was pretty funny actually, and my dog didn’t charge toward any of them any more for several months until I guess she finally forgot about it happening.

I heard that if you pick up one of the babies, the ma and pa goose will not hiss at you and will create an everlasting bond with you.

It`s good to see that despite our best efforts to pave over the planet , there is still wild life surviving .

nah, it was no bluff. That goose would fight with all it's might to defend its babies, and those jagged beaks are no joke (look up goose teeth)

Pretty friendly based off my experience. I once went on a walk and the geese straight up came out of the water and ran full speed at me for no reason. Keep in mind the trail is about 2 semitrucks away from the water. She was a mean ass bird.

That happened to me one time. I was walking to the train station on my way to work & walked past a family of Geese. The mama goose started hissing at me then it started to fly at me & pecked me a couple times.
