Happens pre breeding season when the ganders are trying to claim the best geese, but they will throw hands year round if u mess with em, goose or gander

The mama (I think) goose ran back at my small dog who tried to run away from the goose. The goose jumped on my dog’s back and proceeded to flap its wings on my dog. It was pretty funny actually, and my dog didn’t charge toward any of them any more for several months until I guess she finally forgot about it happening.
If you simply tell the goose "Hey I am not interested in stealing or eating your children ma'am", they will politely apologize and let you go on with your day

I bet most animals freak out and get aggressive to protect their young. But most animals are reclusive sissies and we don't see this. Canada Geese will raise kids anywhere, and if you mess with 'em, well I hope you got good health insurance!
We have a bird conservation area and a few years back a mama goose was babysitting all the goslings. She came over for some seed with about 20 babies in tow. All over our feet and nibbling seeds. It was a great day! I still have the video ❤

They were running around in an intersection and ended up in the middle of a two way lane. Luckily, I was wearing my reflective road gear because I was riding my bike in the rain and managed to quickly get them to the other side. No goslings dead or hurt.

@@polygamygaming7526fear of pain is a good deterrent. being fierce can convince a potential enemy you're not worth fighting. kinda like "I know you can kill me, but if you try you won't escape unscathed. Are you prepared for that? if not, back off". other examples I can think of are cats being able to chase off a bear or most animals avoiding wasps by the way, a goose can cause significant damage with a powerful wing slap or a bite with their jagged beaks (I'm not kidding, look up goose teeth. i know they aren't real teeth but ouch 😂)

This is more like “ignorance is bliss” rather than “bravery”, because I didn’t see them as being threatening at all. Bravery would employ that there was fear and that I pushed through the fear to get near them. I felt no fear toward them at all because I didn’t think I was in danger at all. Maybe I was in danger and just didn’t know it.
I was once attacked by a goose i was sitting near the lake when the goose bit my neck,i turned around with a mean look and slapped it so hard that it fell down,it ran back to the water very quickly
Pretty friendly based off my experience. I once went on a walk and the geese straight up came out of the water and ran full speed at me for no reason. Keep in mind the trail is about 2 semitrucks away from the water. She was a mean ass bird.
That happened to me one time. I was walking to the train station on my way to work & walked past a family of Geese. The mama goose started hissing at me then it started to fly at me & pecked me a couple times.
