It's a nice thought but I'm fairly certain he's just mad because he's a male swan and he perceives humans as a threat to his babies- he would be angry regardless of the situation, because the guy is going near them. male swans are always mad if you go near their babies.

Having lived by a lake with swans, I observed that it was best if it was not a man who did the rescuing, since those beaks are hard and at just the right height... So I started doing the rescues myself where possible. If a man must do it, he should have his back to the swan and look over his shoulder as much as possible.
He should not have interfered, this is how swans and ducks teach their young to brave the water. Eventually, the adult swans would have rounded them up and put them into the water. This man created more danger.

Well, if I’m not mistaken, that is the river and weir in Otley, West Yorkshire, UK, where I lived until 5 years ago when we moved 6 miles away! That is a very slippery river edge and that area that he walked on is usually thick mud so it must have been last summer (2022) He did exceptionally well as the weir is usually huge and he wouldn’t have got down there. The swans are quite forgiving and used to lots of people but he did a great job with the rescue. The babies are often quite silly and go into daft places but usually get out OK. Thank you for helping.

Lucky man! So glad he was able to help the cygnets but Mute swans are nothing to mess with. They are beautiful and look calm and serene, but they are actually aggressive and can be fiercely protective of their young. Adults will attack by biting and beating down a perceived threat with their wings. Their wings are very strong and have a sharp spur on the underside. They have seriously injured and even killed people.
Thanks for helping God's angels. We desperately need more good Samaritan like this man and his adorable children. I pray for more people like this everyday.

У меня хватило бы трёх секунд на этих деток. Вот по тому мы всегда сильнее их. Я переживал что Лебедь клюнет его и он задавит всех троих. На Лебедей вообще 0 внимания. Нужно быстро и качествено спасти молодь.

There was no need for this, the mother would have instinctively climbed over and use her beak to lift them over. This dude put himself at risk of falling

The parents were teaching their young to navigate different things ready for wgen they would be on their own in various situations . We should never just assume anything ...unless we witness pain being inflicted .

The mother and father swan are capable of going over and getting the babies themselves. Like when a mother picks up the baby by the fur on back of its neck.

Swans do not mess around!! This one must've had the impression that the man wasn't an immediate threat or he would've chased that guy and bit him up, so he flapped and hissed menacingly but didn't chase him away.
I recently untangled a swan from fishing line it was around her wings and feet she was drowning.she thanked me with a wing slap in the face.beautiful innocent animals and birds

@@amandamcmurray7106 I didnt saw where it went, so i watched carefully before he was chasing that one (since thats when that 3rd one was nowhere to be seen) and noticed that it hopped up and swimmed to mom. So yea.
