When she shuts down that interviewer, I wanted to applaud. Diana is the best!
I saw Diana perform in Atlantic City in 2019. When performed Ease On Down The Road, I ran to the front of the aisle as close as I could get to the stage and danced that one move that her & Michael do in the movie. She saw me and did the dance a little bit, which felt fantastic!
Right before the last number, she did a brief Q&A with the audience and she revealed that she was recovering from a broken leg, which is why she didn't dance too much during the show. Also, this was shortly after she tweeted in defense of MJ since Leaving Neverland had just come out at the time. I wasn't able to talk to her during the Q&A, but I was planning to tell her "thank you for defending your friend Michael on Twitter when he needs it the most".
BUT i did get to talk to her daughter, Rhonda Ross (her and Berry Gordy's daughter). She was Diana's opening act and she was sitting in the lobby ready to sign autographs and sell copies of her CD once the show ended. I left the show right before Diana's finale to beat the post-concert traffic, and unexpectedly saw her sitting there, so I shook her hand, congratulated her on her new album, and asked her to pass my message onto her mother. I don't know if she actually did, but I'd like to believe so.

Michael is the one who helped Michael mentally to really start his solo career as an adult away from his Brothers. She was one of the enablers along with Quincy Jones who gave that extra boost of believe of course along with his family members. But, in the end there was something there and reverence for each other.

A lot of songs, both loving and negative are about her over the decades as it’s clear he felt really conflicted. He loved her but she used him and broke his heart.
She told him she would marry him then ran off with that Arne guy behind Michael’s back and he was devastated.
We don’t know the half of it but what we do know is bad enough and yes ‘Dirty Diana’ is about her along with loads of other songs, she was pretty much prostituting herself out to all these successful men for her own gains, she got with Berry Gordy to get more power and rights in Motown, she got with MJ because she knew she could and pretty sure took his virginity knowing how strongly he felt about her and loving the power she had over him. she even got with Gene Simmons and a whole load of other guys from the music industry I.e ‘Dirty Diana’ was MJ’s way of theoretically calling her a groupie because he was angry and hurt. Even Blue Gangster is about her. “People tellin’ me you got another guy, I’ve been abused, watch me light the fuse, said you’d be my wife. Nothing but big lies”
She 100% used him and lead him on and it’s tragic. All because she was too gutless to admit they were in a romantic relationship due to the fact she mentored him from such a young age with the whole “mother” role she played on, and was scared of what others would think of that and the age gap. ‘In the closet is another track about her as she told him they had to keep their relationship “in the closet” a secret. Her image meant more to her than anything else, particularly Michael’s feelings.
After telling him they would marry he naively started mentioning to everyone that he was in love with her and they would get married one day, she couldn’t handle it and ran off with Arne, marrying him in the exact location she promised to marry Michael which is pretty cold. No wonder he turned down the wedding invitation, she had some audacity expecting him to face that and attend given the situation she put him in. Her dishonesty made him look foolish to the media... She knows it too. It was all a game to her, playing with his heart like that.
Back when they were filming ‘The Wiz’ they arrived late to the set after spending the night together for the first time and she was giggling with the other girls on set about how he “definitely isn’t gay”... she screwed with him and his emotions big time and eventually he distanced himself from her as a result of that, hence all the interviews in the 90’s onwards with her talking about how she misses him and rarely sees him anymore.
The tables turned and it was her then trying to garner his attention with little in return. He writes about that in some of his songs too, including ‘Blue Gangster’ i.e “things you’ve done to me, are coming back to you” Listen to his songs, it’s all right there.
She hurt his soul and to this day is too gutless to admit it. All that “Michael was like a son to me” is rubbish and she knows it too.

All the info posted is from various sources along with my own opinions on how she treated him. He genuinely loved her and she broke his heart. She even called him the “love of her life” or something to that affect during a concert tribute she did after Michael passed away, when she sang ‘You are not alone’ with a huge display of one of the photos they took during an intimate photo shoot they did together back in the early 80’s.

They frequented the Beverly Hills hotel a lot along with the Hard Rock Hotel where they would sneak there under pseudonyms any chance they got and stayed in the same room so often that the hotel management kept the room available for them at all times and there were 2 large pictures of MJ and Ross on the wall in that room.
