"They don't write 'em like that anymore".
Truer words have never been sung.
Amber gets a 10 for the great display of chair dancing!!!
I second that motion, so, what was the song again????
She does put on a show…
She's the queen of chair dancing.
Wait, that sounded weird. Oh well. I'm sure Jay is happy bout that.
💯 nailed it!
LOL! For sure!
The Greg Kihn Band played at my Grad Night in 1983 @ Disneyland!! Imagine being 17 yrs old, with a cute girl by your side....just graduated, and hearing this song live!.... at DISNEYLAND!! One of the best memories of my life!❤😊
Wow! I graduated in ‘83, and I remember seeing Greg Kihn Band at Disneyland Grad Nite. I’m closing in on 60 years….time is flying by fast!
The most truthful lyric in history...
"They don't write them like that anymore!"
Lmao
Amen to that!
Absolutely right!
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! They did another great jam..."Our Love's in Jeopardy ". 💗
That was the first Greg Kihn song that Rob Squad reacted to.
Simply called "Jeopardy"...
JEOPARDY WAS SO AWESOME !!!!!!
Remember Weird Al's I lost on Jeopardy baby 🤣
Or I lost on Jeopardy
This is one of those songs that everyone can sing along with but no one knows the title of.
Yep!
Except those of who paid attention lol.🤟🤟
Guilty:}
For real? Everybody knows this is “They Don’t Write Em Like That Anymore” aka uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh
@@joemc1960 😂
I knew Greg “back in the day”…he played at a lot of the small venues in San Francisco, where I lived. He was working at a record store in Berkeley when I first met him (close to my Mom’s work) and he told me he was starting a new band with some of the guys he worked with. It was pretty cool to see how successful he became, he had an especially loyal fan base in the Bay Area. This song really started it all for him!
Cool!
Michelle...did u get outta the shithole SF like I did? Lol ....
Whatever happened to them? Are they still out there or did he walk away from it all?
@@LiberalsArePoop I really don’t know 🤷♀️
That's really cool.
The 'uh-uh-uh uh-uh-uh-uh-uh' was put in there for words to be added later, but they liked it so much they kept it.
This song will stay in your head for decades ❤
Indeed. Four decades already for some of us, ha.
It definitely has.
Haha truth!
When I was a kid back in the 80’s I thought this was Billy Idol lol😂
Well, it didn't help that they once again selected the wrong video to a song because someone repeated segments endlessly in this version. Jay said it was repetitive and he's right because he chose the wrong video! This ended up being twice as long as the actual original recording. They need to have an expert like myself to assist them with selecting the appropriate video.
I love it when Amber really loves a song! 🥰😍🥰
My band covered this song in the mid 80's. I was the drummer, so I can relate with Amber. It was a fun song to perform, it always filled the dance floor!
Once upon a time I was a young man and I loved the Greg Kihn Band!
Memories man...high school for me!
"Stuck in my head all day" is exactly what made this song's popularity.
Love all the reactions but the best ones are ones like this one, where Amber really gets into the groove of the song! Love watching her start dancing
My favorite Greg Kihn Bank tune. Catchy, melancholy riff, great lyrics and a smooth groove. I can't help but sing along every time I hear this one. Thanks for checking it out, I knew you would eventually find this classic!!!!
This song has a killer bass line too.
Yes, I was surprised Jay didn't comment on that.
@@ScottKornfeld Yeah, right!
That is what I would call a 'sticky' song. As 'J' said, "that will be stuck in my head all day". Amber's smile was beaming her joy with song.
Smiles are contagious, Amber has infected a lot of people today! 🎸😎
Haven't heard this song for a while. But you know it the instant it starts. Love it.
Hey guys. I just love watching you guys groove with your eyes closed and big smiles on your faces. I also love when there is a part that hits you and you both look at each other at the same time. I just really enjoy you both and love your reactions. Thanks for doing what you do and keep up the kick ass job.
Hear hear - they are so much fun to watch when they get into it like this!
Fabulous Eighties track that I hadn’t heard in a minute. Mission accomplished today, you made me smile. ✌️
Great song! You should try Donnie Iris's "Ah Leah" from the same era.
YES!!
Or On The Loose by Saga. They had another popular song on MTV (in the good ol’ days when it actually aired great stuff) but I can’t remember the name
Or Twilight Zone (When the bullet hits the bone) by Golden Earring, I think of these songs together for some reason.
I would click your suggestion a million times if I could. I have sent in emails requesting "Ah Leah" but so far to no avail.
Agreed - I would love to see these guys do "Ah Leah". I think Jay would dig it.
Greg Kihn even sang the Patsy Cline classic, "I fall to Pieces". It was weird and I loved it. His album "Khinspiracy" is one of my all-time favorite albums.
Glad to see you got through safe from that storm we had last night. This song hits my nostalgic heart. I feel like I'm a brooding teen again laying on my bed in the dark just listening to music.
Just wanna tell y’all...y’all bring so much joy to my heart. I'm a 53 year old USMC vet. Spend much time alone and you guys warm my heart and make me smile. Y’all are a true blessing from God.❤
I just love watching you guys experience music I grew up with and into what my kids had in 90s to today. But there is just something about the focus on melody and musician ship of the 70s and 80s. Love you guys.
Ditto...
same here Tom... thumbs up!
Now you have to check out (The Kings - Beat Goes On/Switching to Glide!) Another Big Canadian 80's Hit!
Love it.
I forgot all about This Beat Goes On/ Switching To Glide. I first got turned on to this song back in the 90s.
Epic!
Absolutely! I love that song!
If I want to listen to a song , this is it !
Back when this came out in the 80s. A lot of people associated with driving their muscle cars on the highway very fast. They Don't Ride Like That Anymore! Can't say that this wouldn't be a good driving song. Thank you guys for your energy with all this. I definitely put a smile on my face. I love watching you guys reaction. God bless you both and your family
Amber, it is so good to see you having so much fun. I hope you both continue to enjoy the music from the "good old days".
The Greg Khin band played at my high school, as did Huey Lewis and the News, and Journey with original band members Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie. Oh those were the days...Monte Vista High School in Danville, CA!
Lucky you!
Great guitar hook in this song; love that perfect Danelectro tone. Great driving song. One of my all time favourites.
I loved this band , I am so glad you found them.
I haven’t heard this in years. I used to perform this with my band in the early eighties. Filled the dance floor every time. Wow! Thanks!
It still does!
The song from Wednesday "Goo Goo Muck" is by The Cramps. They have a bunch of fun songs that are characterized as psychobilly-50's and 60's rock and roll with the energy of punk and a little bit of surf music thrown in as well. Their guitarist Poison Ivy is one of the great rock guitarists laying down some amazing riffs. "Saddle Up A Buzz Buzz", Bikini Girls With Machine Guns", "Can Your Pussy Do The Dog?" are just a few of their songs.
One of the greatest power pop songs of all time!
Now that you've done The Breakup Song, please react to another fantastic power pop song from that same time period, Ah Leah by Donnie Iris, it has been my favorite song for roughly 40 years!
Yes, time for them to react to Ah Leah. Possibly the greatest one hit wonder song ever.
Definitely! Ah Leah! is an all time favorite of mine
You know it's a good reaction when Amber gets into the chair dancing. :)
This song came out in '81. The band's first hit. I heard it for the first time on American Bandstand and it's one of those songs that you like the first time you hear it. I got to see them at a great small club in '83 called the Catalyst in Santa Cruz right after the album Kihnspiracy came out. It's the album with Jeopardy on it.
LOl I remember that show what a night at the Catalyst. Instead of driving home my girl friend and i went and spent the rest of the night at the beach and watched the sun rise in front of the boardwalk
This song is pure mood. Impossible to resist.
Loved this song since first hearing it. Which was kinda weird cuz I just happen to be going through a breakup. Then I learned name and was like “ NO WAY DUDE”! Love it’s energy! #AMBERSWAY 💙
I loved the Greg Kihn Band so much in the 70s. They had no bad songs and I got all of their albums.
Their record label had the slogan "The most fun you can have with your clothes on". So true!
Killer drummer (who sang lead on some songs) and phenomenal lead guitarist - you will like some of their romantic songs, Understander or Remember - still on my playlists 45 years later. Timeless stuff.
Now this song takes me back to cruising lol
Them were the days 😊
No lie. Feels like the 80's!
Good memories cruising with the t tops off and the windows down jamin 😊
Greg Kihn is a Baltimore boy. I loved this song when it came out in 1981...
This was their Big Hit....They don't write them like that anymore!!
Oh sooo TRUE!
I like this one better but I think Jeopardy was their biggest hit
Great memories with this song. Definitely takes me back to my younger years.
The Proclaimers (500 miles) would be another fun song to take a listen to.
Thanks for bringing back these great songs from my past.
Thanks for commenting I got something for you text me on telegram to claim your package..........🎁
Oh man, this is one of my favorite songs from back in the day. It’s so cool.
Long time fan of this band and this song - The Best Small Venue *LIVE BAND* in the 80s. I was a 20 year-old amateur drummer when this song released; replaced my metronome with a Greg Kihn cassette.
A really fun early 80's tune. Yes, a great dance groove.
This is such a nostalgia song. Part of the atmosphere type of song especially when it came out. Love it!
This takes me back to the early days of cable TV and MTV...when it was great.
Greg Kinh was a staple.
It evokes pleasant nostalgic memories. ❤
Gotta love The Greg Kihn Band. Classically 80s while also having a throwback flavor to a different era themselves. Great childhood memories here!
2023 and I am still singing along with this song. Life is good 👍
So true "they just don't write them like that anymore"
Greg Kihn. Saw them play at a local high school in Fremont, California circa 1979...way before they became well-known. ✌
I saw these guys in Houston in 1982 or thereabouts. I had broken my neck earlier in the year and was in a Houston hospital for a few surgeries. A few months later I went back for a 6 month check. I lived about an hour away and on the drive there my girlfriend and I heard a radio promo about an event in Houston happening that day. We decided to stop by after the hospital. It was at a convention center and the band was just kind of stuck in a corner and the rest of the thing was a bunch of booths and such. For a while we were the only people over there listening to them. We stayed for two sets. They put on a great show.
Oh my goodness I love this song and haven't heard it for a long time . Thanks for playing it .
Bass player here, a band I was in in my 20's use to do this. It was one of my faves. I still enjoy a few beers and playing it.
Funny song...grandkids danced to it at 4..didn't understand the words..but they sure could kick it up. Still enjoy this song.
Great song. So underrated! Amber’s “Chair Dancing” set off all of my Smoke Detectors! YOU GO GIRL❤
Greg Kuhn played a great New Year’s Eve show back in the 80’s at the Cow Palace with Eddie Money, Y&T and Heaven🤘🏻Thanks for the memories!
Greg did not look a bit comfortable coming down on a wire. Not a lot of Batman in him. 😬
Bay Area boy here, love GKB. Fun fact from ‘96-‘12 was a morning DJ in SFBA.
Live version is the killer. Just a great song by a talented Greg Khin👍”Khintinued”. Reunited another good one.
Hey Jay & Amber! So glad you guys reacted to my favorite Greg Kihn Band song! 😎 The next songs you need to hit from The Greg Kihn Band are "Reunited", "Every Love Song", "Can't Stop Hurting Myself", "Madison Avenue Man", "Valerie", "Happy Man" and "Remember".
Greg Kihn “Next of Kihn” is a classic album
We all sang the all
"Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh" part in high school lol...awesome song!
Wife and I subscribed today-it’s been a day of Rob Squad! Love the positivity and reactions-had us crying with you in “Runaway Train” and laughing with “Paradise by the Dashboard Light”!
Thanks for doing what you all do and blessings to you! 🤘🤘🤘
Greg use to be a DJ on a radio station in San Jose, Bay Area. I use to listen to him going into work everyday. I have also called him on that station to set him right on a couple of issues. He was great to talk to.
When I was a high school freshman, we moved away from Marin County, CA and Greg Kihn bought our house. I was so star-struck. He was SO big at that time--his songs were always on the radio.
Wow! Just curious if he had a lot of "cold hard cash" from his albums and singles, I never heard more than about 3 songs of his on the radio in Vancouver - he talked about going close to bankrupt by the late 80's from the rock lifestyle.
There is no short or full version to this song. The original song is only 2:50. This version is simply the song 2 times. Ppl who love this song are left unsatisfied with only 2:50. That's why this double version was created.
Yeah, it's really weird that they edited together a longer version by basically just repeating the whole thing. Was a bit too much, imo.
At the live shows this song might get the long groove like that. Mighty Rock for the Peasants. We used to like dancing, and there was a local trend in miniskirt fashion at the Greg Kihn shows. Kinda didn't want to walk away from all that.
the good days of music, loved that band, still do
I was sophomore in HS in 81. It was a song that guys and girls would dance to without a partner. Just go out and dance what ever you felt. A lot like Devo "Whip It" and B-52's "Rock Lobster".
Lol Jay, it won't be stuck in your head the rest of today, it will be stuck in your head for the rest of your life, laugh. And I love Amber just killing it with the chair dancing and acting out the attitude of the song just perfectly. It's notoriously repetitive but it's just such a fun pop song and one of the great dance songs to dance to in clubs and at parties.
Remember is a Greg Kihn song that wasn't a big hit but is a very unique song and worth a listen.
Sort of blew my mind I was up by Roseburg Oregon in 1979 or 80, taking a break from butchering the Old-Growth and describing how I used to get into shows without having my I.D. checked by gripping the big speaker boxes and carrying them in (also free beer), when Remember came out of the actual radio. That was a big old ego boost for me and the crew all admitted that it almost sounded like Rock Music. Hitch-hiked back south and got back into that business for a couple years more...
You can literally pick any song out of his catalog and not be disappointed. This obscure dude lived his dream despite whatever they said. Great songwriting will take you places
I’ve always loved this song! You should also check out “Our Loves in Jeopardy” by the Greg Kuhn band
Great reaction. 😃 If you guys are serious about hearing some Cramps, Goo Goo muck, the way I walk, human fly are just a few of their awesome hits.. such a great underground band... their guitarist is the sexiest redhead named poison ivy lol... I hope you delve into them... thank you for your reactions!!
Thanks for commenting I got something for you text me on telegram to claim your package..........🎁
They may also like bikini girls with machine guns
This one always filled up the dance floor at Uncle Sam's in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Ladies' Night. Good, good times!

You can't beat this for roller skating fast!
Love this song and the memories it evokes. I was just jamming last week on my guitar with a friend on the keys to this song :).
Another Great song! Thanks for this review. 😊
This song give me great joy as it looks like it does with you as well.
( I think the song was played through twice for some reason ). Edit; Jay where you started to look bored halfway through, it's because who ever uploaded the song, took the song, cut off the ending and duplicated the song ( so it sounds repetitive, the actual radio one isn't ), and kept the ending at the very end, of course.
Yes, they edited it to play through twice. But to be fair, this is one of those songs that always seemed to end too soon, so whoever did it was probably trying to make it last!
@@jpmnewyork You make 2 great points. Personally I would rather have a longer version where the parts play different, but you're right, I always wished this song had more and kept going every time I've heard it in the past.
This song seems to work on various levels. Vocals. Chorus. Guitar. Drum rolls. Perfect pop song
I think this came out my freshman year in high school. Not bragging, but we had some good music then. Thanks for taking the time to listen to different music from different time periods. I hope you've already discovered songs that will be your favorites for life.
I have watched you both right from the beginning and it’s a joy to see your musical growth and ability to decipher the undertones and vibe of each song .You were spot on here when you said it has a Creepy Sound . It was used in the 2010 horror movie LET ME IN starring a young Chloe Grace Moretz as a child vampire .It’s been a true delight watching you both continue on this musical journey 🥰
Thanks for commenting I got something for you text me on telegram to claim your package..........🎁
❤
Thank You... 1981, my High School Days, I loved this song!! I used to play this song over and over!!! Greg Kihn rocked, I always enjoyed their music.. Thank You Again!!
Wife here...Perfect example of 80's..,Power Pop Rock!!!🤘I still Jam out to this banger!!!.."Definitely has that Creepy Unique Vibe...Perfect Description!!!..Awesome Reaction!!!❤
I've always loved Greg's voice and especially in this song!! Paired with the guitar effect... just a one of a kind!! Great great song!! Glad you both like it and glad you finally got around to another early 80's Classic!!
Fantastic memories roller skating and playing Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Missle Command, Asteroids, Space Invaders, Centipede, and shooting pool to this one!! 😀 @RobSquadReactions
Greg Kihn was a great DJ in the Bay Area and introduced me to a lot of songs that I hadn't heard before. Great Song!
Love this song! Instantly puts me back at the 🛼 Roller rink in the 80's. Everybody hopped on the rink when this came on. Perfect roller skating song!
Listening to this song again I am getting a "don't fear the reaper" vibe from the guitar riff.
Kind of a shame that this band wasn't bigger. They did have two huge hits, and you've done both of them. If I had to name a third (minor) hit of theirs it would be "Lucky" (their only other Top 40 song). It's a good one, though.
Jeopardy was really good.
OMG I used to sing with this song all the time as a kid. This is the first time I have heard it since then. Never even knew who they were. All I knew was I loved it. Still do. 😆🥰
The song is definitely greater than the sum of its parts. None of the instruments have a particularly difficult part, but they fit together SO well. One of my absolute favorites. And it still stands up today - aged like fine wine.
Gotta remember that cruising in your car, your friends' cars, even your parent's cars & trucks was A THING! I begged my folks to drive every chance I got, cause I HAD CONTROL OF THE RADIO & COULD BLAST THAT SPEAKER LOUD!! So these songs with rocking drums & bass guitars were steering-wheel-thumb-rockin-cruisin-songs... Main Street cruising was how we hooked up & got down!
Band peforms this live, the crowd partipate in ahahahhh..so cool.
Iconic, you both just heard an ICONIC SONG.
It was very repetitive because that was a modern-day upload which simply looped another verse and chorus onto the approximately 3-minute song. This song works perfectly at 2:51 or whatever the 'full length' of the song was on my album. Another great pop song from around the time that will stay stuck in your head is 'Echo Beach' by Martha and the Muffins.
Coming from a drummer of 35 years thank you for the comment!...Ohhh Yurrr!
I love Melody, creativity, musicianship, Ebbs and flows and general fire and passion in the music I listen to.... So this one left me totally flat LOL
I spent years thinking it was Billy Idol until I found out it was Greg Kihn, and I had the song in my collection for years.
A song made to be played while cruising down the highway!
My favorite thing of this beast. It is straight from the '80s but has a wicked cool 60s vibe. Outstanding 💖
The best Greg Kihn song! They had a home on my record player in the early 80’s!
