NL got spoiled by his early game chests, I think I went 4 hours without seeing a triple. Great content as always.
It feels good to watch him suffer in the way I have
I lucked out hard and got a 5 item chest on my first run, as well as a triple, played a few more hours and havent seen either since.

@@sscswimmer1 I experienced the same thing myself. Got a 3 and 5 item chest in one of my first runs, have never seen them since. So this theory might be plausible.

If the drops dont let you go deep going ultra wide asap can be good to prevent you from seeing items you cant upgrade.
Hurts my head when he throws the cross and doesn't consider it's rebound has infinite range so he literally wastes 80% of it's potential. Just throw it behind you as you walk away from a group.
I love how NL will compliment garlic on keeping him alive but then skip like 3 chances of leveling it in a row
To be fair that's the right strat, you get an early garlic, maybe level it to 2 or 3, then ignore it until it's the only thing to level. The new patch may have changed that but garlic was entirely obsolete past 15 minutes pre-patch.
To unlock new items, try finishing some achievements - they are listed in main menu.
I noticed you miss at least one hero =)

@@Thebrooky12 because garlic lets you stand literally completely still for like 12 minutes straight on either map lmao, the upgrades just make it safer to do that
As soon as you start running away from the exp, it's over. A few waves you can do it for a sec, but then you got to get right back at it.

@@gandalphf2026 during some of the "floody" waves of weaker enemies (bats, ghosts, skeletons...) where there are just thousands of them I like to just stand still and let the garlic kill them to put all the XP within easy reach.
@@tim_schu5850 Yeah, instead of having to dodge a swarm, you can soak much more “fleeing” experience that you can easily miss with other non-random aoe. Another benefit is that when its radius is upgraded enough it can hit the swarms before they can shove stronger enemies into you. I would say 1/3 of my deaths have been the ghost swarms on mad forest crushing me with shoved werewolves. Garlic is awesome
I had a run where I had max upgraded garlic, evolved king Bible, and rosemary.
Nothing touched me, it was glorious.

Garlic and bible have been big winning tools for hyper mode, fully upgraded holy water didn't hurt. Wand keeps them off you at the end with garlics knock back. damage up along with AOE size and maybe ring and cooldown reduction. Last but not least fully upgraded axe will boot everything around you away. Least that's what worked for me.
I mean upgraded bible + spinach on its own is half a win honestly
i'm honestly not even sure if it's *possible* to get past minute 13 of forest without some upgraded garlic. so many ghosts...
Upgraded whip is a staple for me. If you can get it early enough it will keep you alive to get other items
I find I need at least one weapon evolved by werewolves -- I've beaten forest with evolved whip, evolved knives, and evolved fire wand
Its actually exteremly easy even in hyper mode, you do have to go kinda meta using either skelecton or fire wand character and focusing strictly on fast evo of weapons, truly becomes a ez stand still game with 5-6 evo weapons alongside a duplicator ring
Hey NL there's is no need to run from enemies for like the first 10 minutes you should be trying to be aggressive so you can level faster and not end up under-leveled after 10 minutes.
I don't think it makes much difference when you leave 75% of the xp on the ground and have decided from one bad run that attractorb is a bad item that you'll never under any circumstances consider taking again.
@@joshlemagne To be fair, the attractorb is not really needed if you play with some meta build, just go more damage in some way and wipe everything away lol

@@DannyB1111 Attractorb is actually A-tier. I've max leveled it every one of my last few hyper wins. I find that I end up about 50% ahead of where I'd otherwise be level-wise, due to not having to take any risks to pick up almost all the xp that drops. Attractorb, Empty Tome, and Duplicator are the only passives I'll take regardless of which evolved weapons I'm going for.
Bro, garlic is cracked, you can almost stand still for the first 10 minutes with level 4 garlic on you and at the endgame it provides valuable knockback resistance reduction. So you really are missing out on it by not upgrading garlic as soon as possible.
He just travels so much that he leaves behind like 75% of the xp
Watching him run in the opposite direction of large amounts of exp that he just generated is painful
For anyone having trouble, King Bible evolved makes the game almost free, combine it with garlic maxxed = almost never lose. I was having some trouble until I got this combo. Spinach is a god tier support item. Nothing else really matters, you'll auto win most runs.
Just beat the forest with Ultimate Bible, Whip, Axes, Santa Water with duplicator. I just stood in one spot, moved a little to get exp then stood still again.
The bible is definitely one of the best weapons, especially once evolved. I personally stay away from garlic though. It's great early game when you can walk through bats with it, but the damage is far too low later and it doesn't contribute, the bible is sufficient defense. Something like evolved axe is going to being far more to the table.
The problem is just getting to that point for me. The schmovement is just too much for me.
i never had a 30 min run without the ultimate king bible. Its a must if you want to win especially in the graveyard
Yeah ultimate build is like;
- garlic max
-holy bible max
And whip to max
As for accessories;
İncreasing range area to max for garlic and bible
İncresing projectile speed to max for bible will make it fly around you like crazy
And increasing dmg with spinach
Dublicating also boosta the dmg obviously
Then you just run into mob groups just to get exp thats all
Having hallow heart to get whip to upgrade it to special to life steal also makes you like a invinsible god

NL I assure you it is never too late for garlic - you will be schmoovin through those bat mobs - and don't even get me started on the upgrades.
The whip has enough damage and life leech when transformed to almost be good enough to carry to minute 30 by itself. S tier item for sure; super underrated.
But then you have to take hollow heart lol
As the other guy said there's no shot it's worth, I'd argue it's like the worst evolution compared to most others. Holy bible isn't needed to upgrade since it's already strong enough, and the blue magic wand does jack shit besides knockback even after evolving. Knives are goated but super boring to play imo, just go evolve axe, fire wand, cross and then bible/mwand/knives for fourth evolve as Mortaccio and you probably cannot lose at all
@@Jimey28 Hollow Heart prevents you from getting one shot easily, and upgraded whip prevents you from being whittled down by damage. As long as you can shmoove for a few seconds everytime you get hit you literally can't die. Upgraded whip is an near instant win by itself, so who cares if you miss out on a passive.

@@TheRezyn Evo’d King’s Bible with Dup ring/power is utterly ridiculous. Give it Bracer and have Runtracer… you genuinely don’t need any other Evo unless you want to survive the elite storm at the end. In which case you probs want a Hell fire(firewand) and Laurel. Everything else is optional

For garlic lovers, an area build would be funny to get attention - Porta w/ garlic, candelabra/axe, santa water & area powerups for good measure. Then just anything else that is decent with area.
Excited for the garlic plays to start poppin off. The garlic enables shmovement like no other
It drives me *nuts* to see him go out of his way to avoid picking up xp.
You don't really need to if you're ahead because you can just wait for an orb.
NL, the plants that form a circle around you deal next to no damage. You can walk through them safely.
First run was 11:52 at lvl 22
Second run was 11:56 at lvl 17
Last run was 14:06 at lvl 25, but level 22 at 11:52
Feels pretty low but still not far off from my own levelling in forest
Seeing the chests with the rolling loot makes me want more luck be a landlord
My most successful tactic so far has been to fully upgrade a single item with it's matched support item as fast as i can, then go for other stuff after. Have survived with only a single leveled up weapon before.
Lol, northernlion putting JUST the right amount of thought into pranking someone into eating a slice of raw garlic somehow made my night.
NL throwing and then questioning if the game was just harder. Classic content.
Evolved King Bible and Evolved Axe ez game. Especially with the Skeleton. His projectile bonus is insane with both those weapons and his bones do insane damage when upgraded
Honestly the bible is so good you don't even need the evolved version. That and the evolved axe and the rest of the build really doesn't matter, its just winning.
1. Need to focus on doubleling back for exp harder.
2. The skeletons at 11 minutes are plentiful but you just melt them with garlic so you can just farm them for exp if you position aggressivily.
3. The chests are mainly for EVOLVING abilities saving them until you're level 8 with skills really helps you pop off.
4. I think the drop rate for multiple skill chests goes down the more you've upgraded out of game coin content.

NLs biggest weakness is forgetting what he's doing when he gets a level up and then moving the wrong way. I've seen him die early so many times in all of his videos because of it.

Love the content! Been casually following you for awhile, but actually bought this game cause it looked epic! I'm waiting for you to try the knife again to "clear the way" like you said before, me thinks that will work
Hey NL, I picked this up yesterday after watching you and I've finished al the achievements. You have the double shot powerup which is amazing, I find farming library on hyper mode is easier than the first level. You can pick Porta stand still and not pick up xp till around 1min 30 (she gets a 90% cd reduction at lvl 1). Another choice I found easy was skellyboy with garlic or old man who you dont have yet with garlic meta. Maxing garlic and standing still or small step kiting with it can carry you to like 15mins at least easy. I found the super magic wand (lvl 8 wand + lvl 1 cd book), The bible (bible+item duration thingy), The super axe (axe + lvl 1 aoe thing) and the boomerang (cross+lucky charm lvl 1) all to be really good choices which also auto aim which suits your playstyle. The thing to keep in mind is always max your weapon you want to level up first with 1 point in its support item if you have to (you can actually get all weapons to their super form in a run). Highest level I think I've hit is 85. Oh I forgot to add whip is fucking garbage tier but super whip (max level whip + Hp upgrade lvl 1) is amazing because it has massive aoe and lifesteal.
Easy win recipe:
Pick skeleton, Bone, Santa water, Magic wand , Runetracer, Duplicator (meat grinder)
Garlic and Laurel for protection.
Attractorb so you can stand in one place and level up.
"DIAMOND HANDS!" Lvls up... dies immediately afterward

You need to try a speed + duration run on either pascalina or mortaccio. Mort is my favorite, bones with speed and duration are really good at keeping enemies away when surrounded. Its possible to try a run where every weapon benefits from either buff
(Bible, Santa, both doves, Rune, Bones)
Some high quality play in this one, genuinely impressed
It isnt the turkey that is making you tired. its a common misconception due to the fact most people on thanksgiving eat quite large portions of food which in turn releases larger amounts of the hormone cholecystokinin which is responsible for that sleepy feeling after eating

After you recommended tomorrow war to the viewers last time with the comment about the start clip I made sure to watch it with my mum without the first 30 seconds and it was very enjoyable
In the early levels I try and fill all my weapons / equipment as quick as possible so all other levels will only improve. That way I’m not getting a level 1 item on level 20
Makes your level ups more consistent but your chests less consistent.

Tryptophan is a precursor to melatonin but it doesn't instantly get converted once you ate it. It i used to synthesize serotonin as well. And pre albumin which mainly consists of thyroid hormone transporting proteins and so on.

Just beat hyper mode. Also managed to last to 31:18 with 2 devils running after me. Early garlic. DPS was whip, evolved axe and evolved bible. Laurel and clock lancet for survivability. Fully tomed + spellbound clock is how you survive the devil (for a bit).

So can anyone tell me whats up with the gem color? Sometimes its all green, sometimes its some blue some green. Im losing my mind over here, is it an optical illusion?
An easy way to win is to use Pasqualina and kings bible, whip, axe, fire wand and magic wand then to evole all of them with spellbinder, empty tomb, spinach, hollow heart and Candelabrador. For the final slot for the passive use duplicator or whatever you want

My pb in this game is 32minutes 26 seconds. You get 4 reapers chasing you.

@@TheThunderbirdRising you need the dude with knifes, wings, duplicator, laurel, clock lancet, rest of the items is whatever you get/want to play. Then if you lucky after the 30 min mark, your clock lancet will freeze reaper, and you can do damage to him, after short while the rest of them come, at that point I just run and hope they get hit by clock lancet. In power up section I have everything max, expect for greed, armor and health regen.
Getting garlic upgraded to level 8 early is important if you actually want to get some use out of it. Max garlic can just buzzsaw through enemies for the first 10ish minutes
@@xXGeth270Xx You already have it in your weapon slot, might as well upgrade it. Plus upgrading it allows it to one shot ghosts and skeletons
@mrbenman97 Yea good luck getting past minute 15 with level 8 garlic and not much else to speak for. I am with Geth on this one. You only need level 2 maybe 3 to kill the bats and ghosts and then you need an actual weapon to be able to punch trough warewolfs and bats.

I haven't watched this episode yet, but I read the title and I'm honestly curious if they made the game significantly more difficult since his early win in the library. I started to play not long ago and barely managed to beat the library while being swarmed by giant brussel sprouts and surviving off of floor turkey and the whip. I remember on his first win it seemed like they weren't even getting close to him, but even with four things maxed out and evolved they were literally on top of me.
Your build plays a big factor and there is some luck involved in the options you're given

Library is easier than Forest
Hyper Mad Forest is even harder then Hyper Inlaid Library it took me like 6-8 hours to beat the hyper forest and without the upgraded King Bible and good schmovment is it nearly impossible. Main problem with the forest compared to the library is the layout on hyper you need almost every point of experience and while playing the forest this is really hard to accomplish.
Bible + Cross + Fire Wand. Evolve those then AFK until 30:04. Or you can play the skeleton character and get away with almost any build.
A 1,000kcal Thanksgiving dinner is rookie numbers. You need to pump those numbers up.
Getting Laurel + freeze gun allows you to survive longer past 30:02. Kinda fun to see how long you can CC the grim reapers. Bible is op, always prioritize it imo. Attractorb or whatever is needed in forest as well, library u can go without it but i still take it

Garlic is fun and I had my first win with Poe, but it needs an upgraded form before it's really viable. The most effect it has in late game is providing knockback support for other weapons which is good for giving you space but not really exciting.
Anybody have an issue getting the candelabra or the spellbinder to spawn at all?
have you unlocked them? Get Santa Water to lvl 4 and Runetracer to 7 respectively.

Some items have requirements for you to unlock them. I think you need Runetracer to lvl 7 to unlock spellbinder
12:15 They do actually. :) It’s called 5-HTP. 5-Hydroxytryptophan. It’s not necessarily sold as a sleep aid, but it can have very strong drowsy side effects.
Raise your lightning when you take it
It becomes almost a screen clear each hit

Tryptophan helps, but your blood pH shifts slight after YUUUGE meals (known as alkaline tide) and that make you sleepy.
tryptophan makes you sleepy because the body uses it to produce melatonin, which IS sold as a sleep supplement, kinda cutting out the middleman there. but it's actually just eating a lot of carbs that makes the thanksgiving dinner sleepytime crash happen, not the turkey, because loading up on carbs makes it easier for tryptophan to reach the brain and thus undergo melatonification
Need to go in with a plan, maxed garlic and unevolved bible with wand, axes and knives seem to work best, what i try for

if you wait to pick up chests until your weapons are level 8 the chest will almost always give you the evolved form of the weapon. S tier strats
Forest is about survivability over damage for the most part. Clock lancet is very useful, and obviously garlic + upgraded bible make it much easier
I personally feel like Parks and Rec is an underrated show.

I had the knives, King's bible, flame wand, and the magic wand evolved. I also had lvl 8 garlic and lvl 8 runetracer and won easily on hyper mode in the Library. LMAO
Hey NL with garlic there is no need to dodge bat swarms/ghost swarms they will die by flying into you
Tryptophan does have an effect on your sleep cycle, but you ingest so much other food that it really doesn't metabolize at a rate that can actively put you to sleep.
It's more likely to work in conjunction with the amount of calories you ingest to induce sleepiness.
It is interesitng how in all the comments nobady even mentiones laurel. There are many different weapons, some are good early game some are better than the others.. garlic great against ghosts early, sucks later.. but realisticly you just need a couple of really good evolved weapons to win. Bible is the best example probably.
And then there is laurel which can save you if you do some mistakes before your build is done. Very underrated imo.
Hey NL, you have to GIT GUD at gathering xp, dont loop so far and dont be afraid to take a little damage to farm in the early game or to pick up xp.
Dont be afraid of walking past the flowers, they do very little damage.
This is less of a survivor game and more of a farming game, Runetracer and Lightning Ring are very good to trim the herd, but you need some good aimable AoE early on (Whip and King Bible).
Spinach and Duplicator are insta take, and dont forget to upgrade spinach a lot, even if you dont have Fire Wand yet.
early garlic allows you to just chase weaker monsters and farm tf up. u should alway get damage multipliers and bigger projectiles is hugely underrated by you... it combos so well with axe/cross/fire wand
He has yet to see the upgraded Bible. I feel like once he sees it, he will understand the game isn't as hard as he is making it lol
