EASY HOMEMADE DONUTS | WITHOUT A STAND MIXER OR DONUT TOOLS!

INGREDIENTS
3 1/4 CUPS all purpose flour ( plus more for dusting )
1/3 cup white sugar
1 tsp salt
4 tbs melted shortening
1 large egg
2 1/4 tsp dry active yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 1/4 cups warm water ( not hot water, water should be warm to touch but not quite Luke warm.. if the water is too hot it will kill the yeast, and if its too cold the yeast will not rise )
1 can vegetable shortening to fry the donuts
to make the glaze
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tbs corn starch
splash vanilla extract
1/4 cup water
* note I did NOT turn my microwave on.. I only placed my bowl inside because it’s typically a warm place to let the dough rise *

For the few people: she said put it in the microwave but she didn’t turn it on for 45 minutes. Thought I’d help y’all out before y’all burn ya house down
Edit: she didn’t mean 45 seconds either😂don’t turn it on at all. Putting it in the microwave just gets it out of the way so you can have counter space

@@TheDanniRose Can I substitute butter for the melted shortening in the actual dough? I dont like to rock with trans fats but these look easy and delicious that I could prob splurge and use the shortening at least to fry them.
@@toridoll830 I don't believe butter would work. First, the boiling point of shortening is going b e much hotter than butter. And you need it to get real hot to fry the donuts. And also, the butter is going to give your donuts a greasy feel. I don't think you want that. It won't be sopped up!

Happy Friday 😊 you're soooooooo right. Back in the day my brother made doughnuts and this is exactly how he showed me. I was 10 or 11 years old we used a glass and a top. It's funny because we used the same top from the syrup bottle. Only difference is he made the glaze by cooking sugar the,sugar in water on the stove he had me stir and stir. He was taking home economics in the 7th grade and he used that recipe. They was so good and we had a lot of doughnuts to. Thanks for sharing with us. Have a blessed filled weekend ❤
