Thanks for the video. It helped me understand what to expect installing, but FYI, this sub will NOT fit under the seats of a 2-door JK. There are additional mechanisms to allow the seats to fold forward that probably aren't on a JKU. I ended up sticking it in the seat back pocket on the driver's seat. Adds a lot of punch that way!
Glad you found it helpful and we heard recently about the 2- door issue which we will absolutely make note of and update comments on the product pages. A customer was able to fit his about 80% under the drivers seat. Super glad to hear that you found a solution and thank you very much for sharing your experience. Let us know if you need anything at all!
Thanks for the comment. Going to try the back seat pocket as my placement as well on my 2 Door JK.
Was just talking to Mike and picked up my Kicker 10" and Sony Head unit for my '13 JKU. Looking forward to installing everything when it comes in...
Thank you so much!! Let us know if you need anything at all! We’re looking forward to hearing about the results!
I love watching your install videos, even though I have the OE subwoofer in my JK and installed the XAV6000 kit. I wish I had seen this before I was installing my breakaway switch for my braking system, knowing about that firebreak and a fish tape to feed through to the engine compartment would have saved me a lot of time. Great stuff as always!
Thank you so much! We’re just happy to know that we can provide clarity in one way or another to the fellow Jeepers needing extra eyes in areas of their Jeep that weren’t known.
FYI- this hideaway will compliment that OE sub! 😉. Our shop Jeep is (or was until we got to it) equipped with the Alpine system also and the Kicker speaker upgrade along with the sub upgrade really allows the Sony head unit to show its potential!
Looks great, excited to see what else is to come!
Thank you! We may have a few ideas up our sleeves! 🤔
Great write up! You just gave me the confidence to tackle this. I put in an order for the kit. 🤘
Awesome!!! You can do it and we’re here to help in case you need it!
@@trailseven I haven’t received a shipping update through the shop app. How long is the normal standard shipping time?
I appreciate the support. I’m sure I’ll get it knocked out. ✊
@@martymcfly882 Each plug and play bundle is prepared per order and with the holiday sales, we’re running about 2-3 days to build and ship. You will receive an email once the tech prints your order and another following which will include the tracking number. Please let us know if you need anything prior to shipping.
Install was easy and straight forward! 🙏
I seem to have an issue with the bass knob not adjusting the bass. 😕 Recommendations?
@@martymcfly882 Let’s confirm a few things. What is the gain set to, and have you turned on the amp/ sub through the head unit? And to confirm, the amp on wire has been connected, correct?

Another classic.
Yes Sir!!!
Seems like a lot of spare wire for a custom wiring harness. God knows there isn’t much space to tuck bundles of wires, especially if you already have other stereo or electronics.
We left a good amount on the harness to allow for folks to install the hideaway in other locations if they opt for it. There’s a ton of space behind the glove box for the extra wire but in case an order needs to be shortened, we can absolutely reduce the length to any specified length required for 1 off builds. Just give us a call, send an email, or poke us on live chat to discuss your specific needs and I’m sure we can accommodate.
We also have a 5m RCA extension that can be added in for the build that requires it to be mounted in the bed. As long as it’s mounted under something to allow for proper air movement as engineered, it can be mounted anywhere.
We have customers needing extra length in their back up camera wires to account for swing out carriers which we custom adjust to cater to the needs.
Our Jeeps are customizable and so are our bundles to fit the needs.
@@trailseven Can you customize for those who have high level outputs on their aftermarket head-units instead of low level/ RCA’s ?
Great videos BTW!
@@jonnyruckus27 No, our hand off would remain as RCA’s.
If I wanted to add two subs, can it be done with a XAV-AX5000?
You mention on a few threads that there is a separate video for factory head units. Can you please share the link as I am unable to locate the video referenced. Thx!
We have a video for installing the Hideaway to factory head units but in the Gladiator. The installation concept is the same in terms of tapping into the B-Pilar speaker wire. We do have an Alpine unit that connects via plug and play directly to the factory head unit.
I just had a Stinger Heigh10 installed....is it as easy as this to get to the rear of that unit?
Only thing holding me back is being scared to mess up that new unit!
Absolutely! I wouldn’t let that deter you. The chassis of the head unit will remove in the same steps. The Stinger has a front screen bezel and a couple of screws on the side of the screen to remove first. Other than that, the connection to the head unit is the same.
Connecting to the speaker wires in the side pillar leading to the sound bar is always an option. However the best quality sound and functionality will come from connecting it to the head unit.
Let us know if you need any assistance!
@@trailseven Awesome!
Can't wait to get my SW and replacement speakers!
@@jdodimead Sweeet! Have you placed your order?
Can it not go under the rear seats?
In a JK it can, however you’ll crush it if you lower the seat backs 😬….
@@trailseven so that's why nobody seems to ever put one under the rear seats. Got it. 👍 👌
@@JayyKilz Yes, that’s usually a no go.
Would it be posable to install two one under both the passenger and driver seats. do you have an installation with the stock head unit or the difference?
It’s absolutely possible to install 1 under each seat. We have a video posted for the Hideaway install in a Galdiator to a stock head unit which you follow the same wire taps to the B-pillar as shown in that video for the JK.
Was there a reason you did the ground wire along the side versus just dropping it down from the glove box where you initially started with the wire harness? I'm not opposed to it, just wondered why you did that one along the side versus dropping from the glovebox, I figured there may be a reason I missed.
Mainly to keep the ground wire separated from the power wire to avoid any possible interference. You can drop the ground wire as a test.
@@trailseven Okay, I figured it may be something along those lines. Thanks for the response!
I think this is missing from my system. I've pulled the carpeting from my Jeep so the velcro stabilizing will not work for me. Any suggestions? Thinking some kind of foam/rubber stripping.
Possibly rubber gym floor matting? 🤔
My 2016 has the bracket and no heated seats.
Awesome, thank you for the info. We weren't sure so we wanted to cover all of the basis.
Same on a 2015. Also, the bolts were not T27. I couldn't figure out what they were. I ended up just bending the bracket up out of the way, but on a 2-door there still isn't enough room for the sub.
@@badfootct Strange but not strange. Our shop JK definitely has T27 but I’m not surprised to hear of different sizes. We hear of different grommets for the back up camera installs and different dashes that some require trimming while other don’t. No surprise there would be different sized bracket bolts. Darn Jeeps, 🤪
@@badfootct I was just bone'n up to install this sub in a 2-door. It wont' fit?
@@kmortensen It wouldn't in mine. There is a bar along the back of the seat which was hitting it when you try to fold the seat back down.
You remove what appears to be a stock 6:10 head unit, and proceed to inform us (after watching this far into the video) this install video is for an aftermarket head unit - I don’t understand. Most of us watching this probably have stock head units. 😂😅
That’s a valid point, however the first part of the video is just to demonstrate the dash disassembly regardless of the head unit. This video is aimed towards connecting to an aftermarket head unit. We’ve made other videos to demonstrate connecting the Hideaway subs to stock head units using the speaker wires in the b-pilar as the source Vs the RCA’s to an aftermarket head unit.
We do offer plenty of aftermarket head unit solutions for your JK! 😉
Mike, is there anything that needs to be changed with the install to make the add-on sub work in tandem with the OEM sub? I'm running your XAV-AX6000 kit in my Rubicon now, all speakers are the stock premium Alpines.
The Hideaway will function independently of the factory subwoofer with a direct connection to the Sony head unit via RCA and remote wire.
@@trailseven So with this, it won't interfere with the operation of the factory sub, looking to run both at once.
@@stetto Nope, not at all. The Hideaway overpowers the factory sub so you’ll notice it more over the 2. With the Hideaway up front and the OEM in the rear, it makes for a good balance overall.
@@trailseven Right on, appreciate the info!
Can the 10” be installed only in passenger seat or can It be installed in driver seat.on 2017 Jeep Wrangler JK
It can be installed under either seat as long as it’s a 4-door.
Excellent video, thanks for the demo. What is the best way to tap into the audio signal with a stock 5in. Head unit for this upgrade? Can I tap into the Roll bar speaker leads for the sub? I don't think the OEM head has a sperate Sub output terminal? I've got a 2020 JL not a JK
Would running the power to the battery keep the amp constantly on?
No, the amp turn on wire at the head unit turns it on.
Will it fit for JL sport s 2024 4 door
It can, however not under the seat and the installation method will vary.
Oooompphhhh
Will this fit in a 2 door JK 2015?
Unfortunately, It won’t fit under the scissor seats of a JK if that’s where you are asking to fit it.
@@trailseven I looked at it it does look like the 2 door just dosent have the room
@@patricksullivan9713 Correct. We’ve seen some creative install locations for the 2 doors but none that are a direct fit under the seats.
What are your recommended settings
Hello Pete! We've sent you an email with a pic of the recommended settings.
Six minutes into the video before they tell me it’s for aftermarket head unit only 🙄👎
You can connect it to a factory head unit also which is shown in a different video. 😁👍🏻
