I love the anecdotes Varun shares. As a child who grew up pretty much in oshiwara-Lokhandwala area. I relate soooo much to these stories. Especially the cable wala playing ‘kaho na pyaar hain’ all night again n again. That’s how I saw it everyday too. And kids dancing on the songs during recess. Also another one is from one of the videos about the showroom ‘Chocolate’ and the background music of it. Hahaha I love these little andheri kid references. 🤣🤪

SRK is so consistent throughout the 90s and 2000s. Apart from having the most number of top grossers in both decades, his multiple movies were there in top 3 or top 5. No bollywood star has been this consistent ever. His peak was unmatched

And a lot of epic Priyadarshan comedy movies like Malamaal, Hungama, bhagam bhag, Dhol came out in this time. I think comedy genre kinda died after this decade.
SRK topped the box office 6 out of the 10 years. And had years where he was no.1 and 2. There is no question that he ruled the decade

Guys, Salman's Tere Naam was actually a remake of a hit Kannada movie 'Huccha'. It was a breakthrough movie for Sudeep in Kannada industry.
Also, Sudeep acted in Rann and also the villian's role in Salman's Dabangg 3.
Orginal is tamil sethu (1999) . Kannada huccha and hindi tere naam was actually a remake of sethu.
2000s started with bang....."Dekho 2000 zamana aa gaya"...
2000s also had karisma kapoor in zubeidaa, urmila doing movies from bhoot n kaun to pinjar❤, emraan hashmi deserved a special mention, atif n other pakistani bands making hits in b,wood, etc...dis stream was 🔥

Guys, I love TISS and this was super fun. You acknowledged how problematic several jokes or narratives were. However, thoda ironic how you didn't give any female actor ko any bhaav. Om Shanti Om wasn't all about SRK ke abs, it was Deepika's debut. I'm not a movie person so would've definitely missed so many of these instances, yet it was noticable kaafi times. Something to consider?

Love ke liye kuch bhi karega is a remake of an RGV Telugu movie called Money, released in 1993. Fargo released in 1996.
Money is an ICONIC movie starting Chakri (the Satya guy), Renuka Shahane and a superlative performance by Paresh Rawal. You can appreciate his comic timing and range years before Hera Pheri.
I still watch Aslam Bhai clips on youtube every now and then.

It was Hrithik's decade for me, he is the last superstar of Bollywood! The only one to make in the 2000s era. Everyone else failed miserably.
You could argue it was aamir's decade too. Dil chahta hai, lagaan, rdb, ghajini, taare zameen par and 3 idiots.
