Herman's Hermits was one of the groups who made hits of Graham Gouldman's great songs. This was released as the B side of "There's A Kind of Hush" and made for a two-sided hit single. In 1967, as an 11 year old with limited funds, being able to buy a 45 with two hits that I loved was a big deal.
No Milk Today was not a song I had heard often in the past. I'm just a bit glad of that. There aren't many new songs I like very much. This is a gift. It is like a new song and I love it.
Mine too, very much in the style of The Hollies. But if you want to hear it in true stereo with it's beautiful extra long ending without the overdubbed krap here such as the silly hand clapping towards the end, it is on their Bear Family Double CD 50th Anniversary Anthology, which contains a lot of first time stereos of their classics, some of them with full longer endings for the first time. But I picked up a different stereo mix of this on RUclips with different instrumental separation between the channels, labelled Tom Moulton mix, with a bit of studio chatter at the beginning, which does not seem to be here anymore. But the extra long ending was not so long. The only problem with this song was the line The Company Was Gay. But the worl Gay didn't mean homosexual in those days. But they will steal words.
What a Wonderful Time it was with The, Herman's Hermits, with Zager & Evans, Steam, Procol Harum, Beatles, the Doors, The Animals, The Moody Blues, The Bee Gees, Scott McKenzie, David Mc Williams, Ray Charles, The Supremes, The Eagles, Mamas & Papas, Sam Cooke, Otis Reading etc Thank You Guys & Girls Where ever You Are. We Will Never Forget You.
A very tricky song to sing with 26 different parts. Requires superior breath control to navigate its tighter passages. Peter's impeccable timing made this song work. Go watch any Herman's Hermits vid and you will see Noone keeping time with metronome precision by tapping the side of his leg with free hand. He may not have had 4 octave range but he had impeccable timing.
A lot of this instrumention here was overdubbed.. If you want to hear it in true stereo with it's beautiful extra long ending without the overdubbed krap here such as the silly hand clapping towards the end, it is on their Bear Family Double CD 50th Anniversary Anthology, which contains a lot of first time stereos of their classics, some of them with full longer endings for the first time. Whenever I listen to any of my CDs, I always have to adjust the bass and treble controls on my amplifier. No matter what track I listen to of yours, I always leave the controls at FLAT - kudos to you for that kind of perfection!
To me, this was an example of a "mature" Herman Hermit's song, as opposed to their other works which were made to appeal to the younger teenage market. This is done very well, and has a wider appeal than their "Henry VIII" style.
You have made the richness of this song come through, in a way that I've never heard before!!! Great creativity on your part with the graphics, as well!!
I can't get my speakers loud enough!!.... My favorite Herman's Hermits song!... You made a masterpiece out of a masterpiece!! Good job!... and That You!!.....
@@romeriopereira5049 maravilha. Gosto muito dos Beatles. Essa banda eu não conhecia. Só a partir da série O Gambito da Rainha e do filme Os Eternos que conheci e ai cheguei nessa música. Muito show...
hello,cinimatic..your remixes on great,to those of us who bought these 45 in the 60s were very fortunate because everyone was doing creative music, from soundtracks to popular,& r& B,what is sad most studios had 4tk tape until 68,when the upgrade happened,..I call 1968 the 8tk tape-year,get it,,the firsr 8tk mix I recall was I wish that it would rain, temptations, atlantic label had 8 tk first & columbia did also,in 1965,capitol I think not until 68,my point about this is all music forms need 8tk because all the instruments need their own tk because the texture is different and when say drums & bass are one one tk the mix and balance is fixed.thats why early 60s mixies are arkward to listen to,beatles especially all those british mixes, and the pop records from the USA from 60 to 63,anyway how about doing some beatles, like she loves ,please please me,from me to you, differemt drum-the stereo mix fro the ponys 2nd LP which has the un-edited keyboard part,if I think of more songs,I will email you again, thanks, dan,,,
It is possible to find "No Milk Today" shopping bags. I have not found the poster with the cat on it yet. The poster by Julia Donaldson (the cat poster "No Milk Today") is really the cover of a book for children.
As an avid 60s record collector, I was particularly interested in this 'extended' version which I had never heard before. I'm only guessing but I think the 'extended' bit is the short but lovely instrumental ending which starts at 3:03 and gives the record a pleasant surprise to the end of the song. I think I'm right in saying that the original 45 release faded out well before this. Kenn's treatment was another masterpiece too. Keep 'em coming Kenn, we love your work! As a footnote. Kenn, I have waited and waited in vain for you to enhance the original version of John Leyton's, Johnny remember me. I know you did do a version but it wasn't the original one and to be honest, painful to listen to. PLEASE redo it and sling your first version out with the rubbish!! Sorry to be critical of your work as everything else you've done is first rate, it's the only one in your catalogue that's bad apple!
A lot of this instrumention here was overdubbed.. If you want to hear it in true stereo with it's beautiful extra long ending without the overdubbed krap here such as the silly hand clapping towards the end, it is on their Bear Family Double CD 50th Anniversary Anthology, which contains a lot of first time stereos of their classics, some of them with full longer endings for the first time. en ningún video que vi no recuerdan a Dereck Leckenby una lastima todo lo contrario con Pink Floyd que hasta lanzaron un disco en homenaje a sid barret

Also c... Too it's... Makes sense.
why they called it `Pop' ~it was not threatening to kids. It was NOT political.~no AGENDA. it was exciting & new. basically free, unless you wanted a recording. ~which you could get on 45rpm for a dollar. WITH their photo on the cover. and they looked like YOU, but had a cool, British accent. and hair.
Peter Noone said in interviews that this was the best song they ever recorded, and his favorite!

A wonderful memory! Thanks so much for sharing! Love this song!
Terrific version of the greatest song that Herman,s Hermits ever recorded !!!!!
It is so good to hear the harmonies so clearly and richness of the tubular bell.
My sister who is 71 now says same thing , the sound of the bell makes this song unique and timeless , brings her back the 60's.school days.
It also gives the song a Christmas vibe.
No Milk Today was not a song I had heard often in the past. I'm just a bit glad of that. There aren't many new songs I like very much. This is a gift. It is like a new song and I love it.
Not the first-choice Hermits song but any Graham Gouldman tune will suffice!
My favorite Herman's Hermits song!
me, too, i love this song

This is the best version I've ever heard....Great job !!
The enhanced version has so much details that I have not heard before. It was just like you hear it for the first time.
Just like watching Terminator 2 in 3d the first time... :)

The 1st concert I went to was Herman hermits s t the Rose Bowl in L A. Was 14 years old. Planning act was the loving spoonful
This new arrangement is my favorite version of "No Milk Today". Congratulations!
i love this song.
Fond childhood memories going way back.

A beautiful classic. It sounds so rich and full with the enhancements.
Great song and I like very much your mix. Never heard this version before and I like it a lot. THX.
You talent is impeccable and this is EXTRAORDINARY in every possible way!!!!!!!!!!
Nice music mix i listen all the time to it.Great songs.
You have made the richness of this song come through, in a way that I've never heard before!!! Great creativity on your part with the graphics, as well!!
I like the chimes at the end of the song!
Love this version! Thank you for sharing!!! Love your work too!
This song is sung at the bathhouses in Vegas! I know my cousin worked there for over 20 years! Introduced me to Don King at his home in Vegas🤭😜😀🤔😀😆🍋
I can't get my speakers loud enough!!.... My favorite Herman's Hermits song!... You made a masterpiece out of a masterpiece!! Good job!... and That You!!.....
If only could write and record songs like this today but they can't!
No hay palabras suficientes para agradecerte por este maravilloso obsequio de tu parte, muchísimas gracias, es maravillosa está canción.
De nada!
Love the Stereo effect and brilliant song remember it well from the early 1970's on Vinyl and the volume turned up loud. Haha.
Spectacular! That sounds great. On the photos at 2:32 The upper left picture is The Beach Boys. (My favorite vocal group)
One of my favorite groups when I was growing up.
Really like the extended version. Great sound quality too.
The handclaps added at the end are criminal. UGGH....
Another masterpiece--many thankxxx.. More Elvis please.........
Graham Gouldman = Genius!
My favourite song by Herman's Hermits!
Also loved 'Listen People'.. 😊

AWESOME B SIDE!!!
Yeah, this is the Side B of "There a Kind of Hush".
Great, tasteful enhancement!
You just got a subscription from a DJ located in Hamburg / Germany.

Beautiful song
Nice surprise. Hadn't thought about this one for a long, long while. Smiles!!!
one of my top two favs by them! keep it up!
Keep up the great work so enjoyable I'm wanting more and more.
And speaking of Herman's Hermits recordings of Graham Gouldman songs, I'd love to hear an enhanced version of "Listen People."
Encantado com a música e com a banda...
Eu também Rodrigo! sou apaixonado pelos Beatles e toda aquela turma da chamada (invasão Britânica) inclusive essa banda. : )

WINTER ☃️❄️🥇🥇 1966.. LEGENDARY.
Outstanding!!
excellent
Great new mix Kenn!! It really enhances an already classic tune!
NO MILK TODAY. Adaptado e interpretado por Herman’s Hermits. Autor: Graham Gouldman.
Si lo escuchan en Los 40 Principales de la Cadena SER.
¿Porqué adaptado? Si ellos son los originales
Nice job, Kenn. I take it this is from the Bear Family collection. Sounds great. The hand claps are really a good edition. EDB
a classic
Anos 60 época de ouro das musicas.
Ive seen them about 10 times!
Interesting that on the CD cover at 0:02 and 2:21 one of the band members seems to have been airbrushed out...
cool its an extended version too!!!!
Love this version!
Nice.
Good sound quality i agree
A typically wordy--but tuneful--effort from '70's soft-pop king Graham Gouldman.
he had a good year; "Bus Stop" and "Look Through Any Window" as well, The Hollies snapped those up!

Wow Ive never heard that ending before. Big UK hit, strangely relegated to a B side in the USA, who didnt have home milk delivery vans?
Esa canción es también gastronómica para Cantabria.
Long Live Derek Leckenby !!!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Strange that both of my early favorite Hermits songs were written by Graham Gouldman.
SE LES RECUERDAN DE ESA SINTONÍA DE LA SEGUNDA CADENA DE TVE.
