I bought an HP Z 440 Dinnasoar in Sydney last year for $230. Couple of weeks later I found a Dell 9020 sff in the trash outside our apartment block. Chucked an SSD and fired it up. So I have two functional Dinnasoars.
I've decked out an Optiplex 5050 with 16GB RAM, SSD boot drive, and Quadro P600, to run my BlueIris server and it handles 16 camera streams very well (4K, 2K, and 1080p combinations)
I got several refurbished Dell's - i up the ram to 32 and put in a 2 gig video card - never have any problems - one i use now for 4 years on 24 hrs a day - its great and i got it for less than $100 on Ebay :P
Work (not my choice): MacBook Pro, i7-8569U processor with integrated graphics and 16GB LPDDR3 2133 MHz RAM. Home: i7-8700 processor and B360M MB, 24 GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM, AMD RX 6600 8GB graphics card. I actually pulled the i7-8700 from a refurbished Optiplex. Before that I was using my i7-3770 purchased back in 2013.
i got one i do lite gaming and a lot of editing with a 3040 opti ddr3 mother board i upgraded it with 16gb of ram and a gt 1030 runs good for what i use it for well good enough that is lol
Dell optiplex most reliable business machines I have my father's old optiflex as budget home server that server streaming of movies and photos and files. Buy second hand at 40-60$ add a SSD if it don't have add 3-4 HDDs And yse it even if for office use works great use Fedora workstation snd enjoy
I've Been Buying / Using "Refurbished" Dell Optiplexs For A While Now.... The Last New Computer I Bought Was A Toshiba Windows Vista Laptop Qosmio Q45.... Since Then, A Dell Optiplex 755, Optiplex 7050 MFF, And A Optiplex 5050 SFF.... All Refurbished....
do i get this or HP Z420? seems like the z420 is better, can hold up to 4 sticks of ram and I think comes with a Xeon CPU, there are 2 versions of the motherboard and you want the one that supports V2 processors
I bought a used one for 50 Euro added 8 GB of RAM for 15 Euro 1 Tb NVME for 70 Euro 1 Heat sink for 16 Euro attached an older 8 TB HDD as storeage and Library = 160 Euro use it day and night consumes less than 30 Watt = 50 cents per day...
I don't know about your power supply but i think getting a graphics card like r9 280 would be perfect for your optiplex, especially if the cpu is on a weaker side.
can u please help me i have dell optiplex 3020 tower version i5 4590 and 12 gb ram firstly i wanted to upgrade my r7 240 gpu to rx580 but comp tech said my mothercard is not compatible and my psu is not enough is any good suggested gpu without i need upgrade my motherboard and psu
You could go with a gt 1030, they only draw 30 watts. Just make sure you get the GDDR5 version. Some people say an RX 6400 runs well on Optiplexs. If you have a 240 watt psu, go for the rx 6400. the 6400 might run on the180 watt psu, but I would be more comforable with a 240 watter.
These thing are AMAZING for servers. I use one for multiple Minecraft servers. Just put an SSD and more ram. and there you go. (Mines a 3050 with an I5-6500 and 8GB ram)
If you are not gaming, get a Mini-PC. Below are some good options with 16GB of RAM or higher: - Intel NUC 13 Pro. - Geekom IT13 with an i7 CPU. - BeeLink SER7. - HP EliteDesk 800 G9.
Optiplex and vostro are garbage.. they used to be good but anything made after 2018 is poorly made. We would get about 2-3 units out of 20 being delivered DOA.. motherboard issues every time.. junk. Hp has gotten just as bad. Lenovo M series are great work horse machines. Always loved the toughness of a lenovo m90.

thanks sooo-much for addressing what the majority of PC-Users are interested in. Enough with PC-porn YT-vidz! :-) really...GREAT VIDEO!! subb/liked...My questions please...its now 12/23, and considering one with an i5-i7cpu, would you have a different opinion? Also...what's the most-amount of dd4 RAM that can be integrally-installed on the O7040 (or similar), please? Thanks a terabyte! I'm an old CAD-guy (73, first using CAD in '83 :-), who now uses ActCAD*, and that super-fine little CAD software's pretty-light on PC-resources. 2D-CAD Planwork is like that :-) I'm looking to buy this little PC & use your upgrade for it doing my CAD-work. No weird lighted fans needed, for that! hahahaaa. * friend, if you need an affordable CAD, check it it. Your welcome.

Thanks for this video. Just ordered my grandmother a 7070 OptiPlex. She’s a retired book publisher. It’s coming Wednesday and she’s excited.
