Well, here I am a year later with my oven not heating up...only a year since the last time. Watched again and replaced within a few minutes with a replacement from Amazon. Thanks for this video...again! Lol!

Very helpful, thank you. My Blue Star had some kind of special connectors on the wires leading to the igniter. I took a risk and just snipped them off, attached the replacement (generic) igniter wires with the usual splice. Works so far!

Thank you so much for this! Oven was not heating yesterday, ordered off Amazon, the part arrived this morning, and now I am back to baking!

Your instructions worked great and my Bluestar is back in action. Interesting that Bluestar charges $135 for their "official" igniter but you can get a generic one off of Amazon or eBay for about $25, so thanks, also, for that tip. I have a newer model that has a two-piece (connected by a simple zip-tie to connect them) heat-resistant woven fabric tubing over the wires but it was easy to thread the wires themselves through. I also cut off the female metal electrical connectors Bluestar used and simply use the ceramic wire nuts supplied with the igniter. Also, I did not have to remove the oven door as it was possible to remove and screw back in place the retainer screws holding the lower stainless steel facade in place by lowering the door get access to the screws. Many thanks for your thorough instructions which saved me a lot of money and stopped my wife from complaining that Blue star ovens are expensive junk. I did send you a small contribution, the least I could do to thank you, through PayPal. The other problem I have with the range is the high-intensity left front burner piezo igniter some times won't stop "clicking" after the gas ignites and I can't get it to stop no matter how much I've fiddled with its distance and angle to one of the gas orifices. It is a new one although the original one that came with the range did the same thing.

I've watched the video, read the comments, removed the old igniter, and capped off the incoming wires. Now, with old igniter in hand, I am looking at the "Frigidaire 5303935066 Igniter for Range, 1, white" at the amazon link you provided. The ceramic portion of that new igniter is much shorter than the ceramic portion in the part I'm replacing. Also, the replacement igniter in your video is an Electrolux part. I just want to be sure I'm ordering the right part. I welcome comments from Scott or anyone else who has completed this igniter replacement.

Could you do a video on replacing the burner tube ? Seems like a lot of them have holes in them and that is all leading us here to replace the igniter

Great video and tip to use more standard igniters - will be replacing mine tomorrow. But I couldn't help notice you didn't have to plug the oven back in before you tested the igniter ;) 0:10

This is excellent. Worked like a champ! Wondering if you could post a video on resolving a thermostat replacement for the griddle on a Blue Star. Assuming that is my problem. Started seeing our griddle spin out of control on heat. At one point I had to actually unplug the range to get it to actually turn off. I would like to replace most of all the parts associated with the griddle to rehab the range as a whole. Have had it for 13 years.

Great video, thanks! I have what looks to be the exact same Blue Star model as the one in your video. I replaced the igniter with what also appears to be the same Electrolux branded igniter...looks identical. My question is about the length of the ceramic portion and the wires. Everything looks the same in my installation but I am a bit concerned about the wires being inside the oven (approx. 1 inch) due to the shorter ceramic portion. I just ran the oven briefly and the fabric wire insulation has already started turning brown. Is this a fire hazard? Thanks very much.

Thank you, I've used your very helpful video to replace my igniter several times (they seem to burn out yearly--now, I just keep an extra igniter on hand). Today, it's not working and it's not the igniter--there is no gas sound when I turn the oven on. The burners on top work fine. I have not moved the oven nor done anything else other than use it a few days ago. What should I be looking to fix/replace this time? And do you have another helpful video for how to do it?

    • @Jennifer_Arnott
      @Jennifer_Arnott 3 месяца назад

Never mind, it WAS the igniter AGAIN. I changed it less than 6 months ago. I bake at least twice a week at high heat (450 and 475 for home made bread and pizza), which is why I bought what I thought was a high quality oven (Blue Star). But it's obviously not up to the job. Thank you again for your very helpful video.

Great Video, Thank you. Ours, when you put on broil, the igniter comes on, but the burner doesn't. But if you take a lighter to the burner while the igniter is glowing, the flame will come one and then turns off. It goes like a wave and erratic way. Any ideas? Thanks in Advance

This a really helpful video -thanks for making it and posting. I changed out my igniter once before but I've a few times I've had the oven not turn on - removed the bottom panel and moved the wires and it went on. Now, that wire-jiggling isn't doing the trick (I realize that's not a proper or safe way to get it working again!) From what others have said, could it be the thermostat or the thermostat wiring, where a connection is just weak? Would love to hear your take! Thanks for any help!

    • @QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance

Hi Denise, I would check the wire connector to the igniter to get it tight and maybe replace the igniter again.

@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance Thanks so much for the suggestion. It's probably worth a try since I'm sure a service call for wiring is going to cost me a lot more - and the last local guy I had couldn't adjust the simmer burner so I don't have total confidence in his knowledge of these Blue Stars. Thanks again for the response and for the great videos!

@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance Wanted to thank you again you were right! I replaced the igniter (third time) and it's working again! (Of course, here in Ontario, Canada the replacement cost me $80 bucks...but I'm getting used to getting ripped off here where almost everything is an additional 30% regardless of the dollar! Lol!)

I replaced my ignitor less than 1yr ago. Out again. Is it normal for them to last such a short time? Or is something else making them blow?
When cooling down after use, the oven made a new bang sound as things cooled. Any relation to this?

We have a Garland 30” Range Conv. Infra-Red Broiler (purchased in 2001) but as I understand it, Garland is now under Blue Star (and the oven in your video looks virtually identical to ours). Was helpful to hear you say that they tend to only last 4 or so years, because that's been our experience *but* the cost for parts/service has consistently run $500+, so you're incredibly helpful video was very welcome news and we're interested in seeing if we can start doing this repair ourselves going forward. 1) is it safe to assume our Garland oven (model # RC30-IR) that looks the same as the one in your video will work w/ the same replacement part? 2) seems our broiler ignitor is just about ready to be replaced as well (same as in the past before it eventually conked out completely, it takes longer and longer to heat to ignite, so explodes when it finally ignites. Do you have instructions/video for replacing that one, as well? thank you!
