- / loisdavidsonart www.etsy.com/u... I'm continuing to try to learn how to paint loose flowers, and today I'm painting a vase of flowers using the 3 primary colours: gamboge hue, ultramarine blue and 2 reds, rose madder and French vermilion.
I use various brushes, see video, but use whichever brushes you are most comfortable with. My paper is 100% cotton Millford, cold pressed, 140lb. Thanks for watching, and happy painting!
Beautiful!!
Thank you so much, Lois, this was beautifully done! I painted with you and was pleasantly surprised how good it turned out...
I love the loose watercolor flowers! I’m afraid I always overwork my projects! I love how clear and vibrant your colors are too! 🎨
Beautiful 🌻
The colors of hope and evening magic paintings ...🌷👍👍👍
Thanks so much for your lovely comment 😊💐
Absolutely beautiful, and you make it look so easy! I cannot believe how you got it to all come together so brilliantly and the vase looks as though it has a glossy finish. Thank you for sharing your talent with us all. 💖
Love it
Awesome!!!
Wow, I can't believe that this was only 3 colors. Very impressive!
Thank you!
@@LoisDavidsonArt thank you so much. You always inspire me !
Amazing, I love your style!
Wow my painting looks great. I thought I couldn't paint loose flowers but step by step is easier. Love the colours. Thank you.
Dear Mrs. Davidson, I thank you so much for all your help and support and tipps. I learned so much from you. Please continue 🙏 🙂 .
Once again absolutely beautiful. Of course you make it look so easy. I do really like the little extra interest you added to the background. It does give the illusion of a window behind the plant. So nice.
Absolutely exquisite! How dare I even try, but I did. I love this.
Lovely. Love the looseness and delicate colors.
Bravo! What a happy filings coming from this work! Thank you!❤🩹
So pretty. I liked how those darks made the flowers come out.
Thanks so much 😊💐
Thank you. I am a novice and I appreciate learning from your instructional videos. This painting is beautiful and I practice painting this three times.
Thank you!
Another lovely painting, love the background.
This was great. Thank you. And I love that you are expanding your offering. Jane
Absolutely gorgeous, definitely get the sense of sunshine on flowers.
Thanks for this video which gave great ideas for how to paint loosely.❤️🎨
A really lovely painting and practice. Love your encouragement to just play and enjoy the lessons and process. Thank you!
Thank you! 😊💐
Loved the way you put the Gamboge into the vase for some light. Beautiful as usual Lois.I liked the extra work you did on the background. Gave it life.
Lovely, Lois and what a lovely daughter!
Thank you 🙏
I learned a lot from watching this. I love it so much. I so empathize with hand pain. I need both thumbs repaired from 30 plus years of weeding my enormous flower gardens. I'm a beginning watercolorist but no one can out-weed me. (yet) Thanks for sharing your beautiful work. I hope to learn more from you.
O my Lois not only can you paint gorgeous senorama but flowers to. You are a gem. I just found this from last Spring. Don,t no if U did more florals must look. I think I will try this, fingers crossed. Love U much. Judy❤🧸
Loose and beautiful! I so enjoy your lessons.
Absolutely beautiful thank you Lois
The added background is fabulous!

I love this! Thanks for sharing your beautiful talents.
Thank you Lois - I really enjoyed this and will give it a try. I will add rose madder to my paint collection. xx
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I followed it and am really happy with my own version. You are excellent at explaining and showing how it is done. Even as beginner I could follow and apply the techniques.
Gorgeous! Those colors!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Absolutely beautiful and your explanations and instruction is very helpful!
I loved watching you paint this and then painting along. I've done 2 of your cityscapes, which I also loved. Have watched several landscapes and plan to try those next. Thank you for sharing your considerable talent!
I thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial - just what I was hoping to achieve ! Many thanks!
Magtastifent! I think I need both my hands all rapped and tied up just watching you do this. ✨👑
Lovely : )
So pretty...love the Gamboge hue😊
Beautiful and thank you for the explanation as you go, very helpful and inspiring..
Sorry about your wrist, Lois, hope it is pain free very soon. I can't believe that this floral is one of your first. It's beautiful and the Gamboge gives it such warmth. Thank you, Lois!
Absolutely beautiful
Absolutely fantastic!
Very nice! Definitely going to give this one a go!
STUNNING!! I love the flowers you paint.
Thanks Maggie, hopefully I’ll be painting flowers more regularly now I’m getting the hang of it! 💐💐💐
Another beautiful painting. Loving the colors. 🌿🌿
Thanks so much’ 💐💐
Thank you very much. I liked it very much, the way of not giving importance to the flowers as if they were roses or specific flowers.
Thanks so much 😊💐
Very nice and learned something new for sure. I really like what you did at the end actually, balanced it out really nicely and you can really feel the warmth of the sunshine! 🙋♂️🌷🤩
Love it! I’ll definitely give it a go.
I’m excited to try this!
Love it, and your use of bolder colors! Keep it up 🤗

Beautiful! Just fascinating watching it develop. I am new to any sort of painting but have fallen in love with the concept. Thankyou so much!
I love this! Thank-you! It looks so fun! I've never done a loose flower arrangement in watercolor. I really like it!. I love the spattering effect. You've given me ideas again.
Excellentf!
I love this! I painted & it was really fun
I like this very much. Thank you Lois!
Thanks!
Well this one is very nice. I really like your semi-abstract approach and have admired several earlier videos of yours. The seascapes are very dramatic and have rich colors. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Bob! 😊
I wish my "experiments" turned out a fraction as beautiful and effective! Enjoyed watching loveliness appear out of seeming chaos. Thank you.
Thanks so much! 😊💐
Absolutely lovely, Lois! I love your flower experiments! 💕
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much, Lois. This has taught me an awful lot. Will experiment without fear as you advise. 💙
Really love this. Thank you
So beautiful!
Thanks so much! 😊💐
Love your painting style. Appreciate the flower painting. Still trying to manage your style seascapes. Thank you
Thank you for demonstrating this, especially in real time Lois. I always struggle with flowers and overworking them, but will have another go, trying to keep everything loose.
Great painting Lois not anything what I was expecting, enjoyed video how you worked it very minimum pallete . Loose bright and blended colours incredible how you achieved amazing picture. Thanks greatly appreciated stay safe.
Thanks so much Philip!

soothing.Hope to see more from you
Thanks so much for your lovely comment 😊💐
So so beautiful! Thanks for sharing Lois. Hope your hand gets better
Thanks, its a bit better at the moment, comes and goes...
Beautiful!
So very beautiful!
Loved it, thank you! And I like your saying “it’s only a piece of paper”! That’s my problem, that I get so uptight during the “ugly phase”, even watching you paint through it and come out with a beautiful painting. I have to remind myself that it’s only a piece of paper, and ask myself “in what museum are you expecting to hang this?” 😂😂😂
It is so enjoyable watching you paint!
Thanks so much! 😊💐
Beautiful effect
Beautiful painting! 👏👏👏🌷
Thanks! 💐💐
Very beautiful.
Gorgeous, Lois!
Very nice! Thank you! 🌸
So beautiful
Really lovely!!!😍
Perfecta!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much 😊💐
I love the loose style and this was a fun experiment for me as well. I heard you say you've been doing watercolor for just 3 years. YIKES. Please tell me you were an artist before you took up watercolor. I'm a total novice at any art form and have been experimenting with watercolor for 2 years. Still feeling like a total beginner. I'm just having fun and as long as it is fun I'll keep doing it. You've taught me me several new things with t
he hake brush, etc. Thank you for sharing your experiences!
I've always drawn on and off and done arts and crafts so that probably gave me a head start with painting, that and painting every day
❤️😍Beautiful!!
