I have tried many recipes for hot water cornbread it didn't work for me,but the way you did it I have to give myself a A+ you nailed it & so did I, Thank You for sharing your method ☺️I had steamed cabbage beans & baked beets.
Mustead greens, collard greens, pinto beans , purple hull peas, great norrhern beans, cabbage and peppers, black eyed peas, spinach.......and sometime with honey and a touch of really good hot sauce!!!!! I would say it is probably my all time favorite food !!!! Oh yeah butter beans and okra, field peas and okra or just by its lonesome......hot cornbread is north Mississippi speak for LOVE!!!!
Love how you mixed all that together. I never realized there was a recipe for hot water cornbread. We just made it as a daily routine when I was growing up. My grandmother's, my mother aunts just made it. We learned from them. Plain white meal a little yellow self rising cornmeal hot water a cast-iron hot skillet of hot grease. It was and still is delicious. Me and my sister and cousin still make. There's hardly a dinner meal when we don't have it. As a seventy-seven year old person we still cook for our family. Passing the tradition on that was passed to us.
I love hot water corn bread with turnip greens, rutabega and candied yams. My mama always made hers with white meal so that's what I make mine with. Looks DELISH as always Ms. Brenda.
I eat my hot water cornbread with stew, chill, beans, black eyed peas, candied yams, greens! Today I'm making Pazole (mexican stew) and instead of tortillas I'm making hot water cornbread with it. I'm such a southerner! Lol Thanks for posting! 🥰
I made your hot water cornbread today just to see if my family liked it….they loved it!! Making it again on Monday for New Year’s Day with stuffed cabbage rolls, collards and black eyed peas. Thank you for this delicious recipe. Bless you and Happy New Year
My Grandfather would make these now and then. We would split them an put a big pat of butter inside, maybe some syrup. Yum! I in turn made them for my Boy Scout Troop years ago. It was a big hit.

I really love all of your videos! Being a black woman raised in Georgia you’re supposed to know how to cook, but because I spent all of my teenage years in foster care, no one ever taught me. I do know how to cook based on what I watched my Aunt doing in the kitchen but you have let me know what I need to do in my own kitchen to add that soul🥰and I thank you so much for this! I can tell you right now I’m pretty sure my husband and my children do too.❤
Bless you. I have been looking for a hot water cornbread that used baking power like my grandmother. Ps. My grandmother would put a few teaspoons of sugar in the boiling water.

Whatever is easiest for you! LOVE Y'ALL. FOR REAL. BIG HUG!!!

Any kind of dry beans for me with some meaty ham hocks. I just learn how to make hot water cornbread last week after sixty nine year's and can't get enough. Thank you for sharing your recipe ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ms Brenda I’m getting hungry just looking at yours fry. I think want green beans with potatoes/smoked sausage,Salisbury steak & gravy and maybe some Mac & cheese
It won't hurt anything to let the mixture cool before you form your pones. That way there's no need to add extra water that'll just make the oil more likely to pop on you! Onions are good to add to these. Toss some into your mixture.
They look perfect! With greens, black-eyed peas, candied yams, baked chicken 🤤❤️
Thank you for your word of the day! God bless you and your family. I love the way you go through the steps in your recipes. Very helpful.
