If i remember for you all, this was a video released in the early 90's i got for Christmas called " Lap of the gods ", it was a series of onboard shots with an hefty ( Movie style ) camera mounted to the cars and these shots we're for show and the drivers we're also show boating to make it more exciting. Murray Walker was narrating rather than commentating!! I loved the video and wore it out. Not been able to find it since anywhere!
Fun fact Nigel Mansell got pole in a turbo Honda Williams making 1300hp in qualifying spec 1.38s 3 years later Senna-Mclaren Honda V12 730hp got pole with a 1.36s Both H-pattern 6sp but my god did chassis and aero must have taken a massive step in 3yrs
Great footage. I always go back to these glorious days of F1 and try to imagine how nice it would be that the automatic padle shifts Ferrari introduced for 89 where not developed a few years before. Imagine these V6 Turbo's going flat out without having to lift throttle to shift gears...heaven. And almost no turbo lag.
Yes, a camera mounted on the car, instead of the live camera, which was mounted on the side, and would have at least some interference and signal dropouts.
Probably unseen be ause they were so embarrased about Walkers commentary. Its a practise, how is it possible in race trim for a camera car short shifting catch and pass cars that quick. Love Murray to bits but this is so cringe
Just a shame that this annoying journalist Murray Walker always opens his mouth with needless comments on all those onboard videos (or how to destroy a high-quality video moment)...
The sound the turbocharged engines was wonderful!!!!!!!

0:10 he talks about a crash in 1990
How the fuck can this race be from 1987?
Because it's old footage? Iirc this is from Lap of the Gods which came out in '92.
Campos was Nannini's Minardi teammate in '87 here at Suzuka. They both retired in the race, among several others.

You’re on your own with that.
