I’ve raised Borzois and Whippets, Bullmastiffs and Briards. Good dogs all. I can’t imagine a better family dog than a Briard for an easy fit into a family. Smart doesn’t even begin to describe their presence. They WATCH better than any other breed I have seen. If someone comes knocking that you don’t know they will watch, learn and intimadate that person in such a manner that you don’t need to be involved. If you have five or ten kids and go out in the woods for a walk, your Briard will round them up, run from group to group and bring them home. They watch for snakes, armadillos and predators and love you to death if you let them. If you try to make a yard dog out of a Briard they will bark and run the fence til you give up Grooming is intensive and they often don’t appreciate it It’s a small price to pay
It’s very dangerous to have fur covering a dog’s eyes. It puts him at risk for corneal abrasions, and ulcerations..in addition to which, he cannot see.
This is not necessarily true for all dogs. The Puli and Komondor has long corded locs that covers their eyes. Used to trap debris from their eyes. And contrary to belief, komondorok has EXCELLENT eyesight even through the covered eyes.

You forgot one famous fictional owner of a briard dog, the owner's name is Al Bundy, and the Briard in question is named Buck Bundy
Thanks so much :)
Did my man call it a bryard

Well is it our fault?
