The craftsmanship and style is original with a gift for projections in details. It's practically 3 dimensional. I'm going to buy her books 📚. Such a grand diva. An amazing gift to the art world is this young man. BRAVO 👏!!!
Wow. Just wow! What an incredible portrait of her. He was so sensitive to the subject matter and managed to achieve her essence in a very cool way. And I just loved how flattering it is of Hilary whilst retaining her likeness. Nick is just such a talent.
Absolutely stunning painting, and what a great subject. Hilary is so incredibly likable, I'm going to read her books. Thank you for such an engaging series, I've really enjoyed it.
It’s absolutely amazing, I will say I loved the picture he took of her holding the pen with both hands he’s facial expressions was so childlike and innocent
Fantastic video ,the connection between artist and writer ,especially in light of the story she is writing . It was so exciting to watch this very special episode ! Bravo ,and the show is one of my favorite things to watch ! Bravo to all involved, just brilliant .
Very compelling portrait. My only criticism is that the sitter's left hand looks somewhat odd. It is a little too coarsely positioned and appears claw like. Otherwise, very nice depiction!
Great portrait. I wasn't that impressed with the first portrait bcs for me it wasn't a great likeness but as Nick went on I started liking his work more and more. Congrats
I would have liked to see a portrait by an artist who had read more of her work - say, 'A Place of Greater Safety', which is so strong and savage. There is a contradiction in her blonde, soft-voiced, friendly private personality. He has painted a woman who could have written romantic comedies ... I don't see the steel.
Seems to me there was a mutual collaboration from the start. Nick was very engaged in her thoughts of how she did & did not wish to be presented. Just like his use of disparate painting elements/styles, it results in a harmonious & strong portrait. When I paint from life there is always a sense of the interaction with the subject & energy.
@@shimburich1760 you are wright! I wanted to say that she told to him the better position with the pen for suggesting that she is thinking to her ideas for the book. Sorry for my english!
I like that they agreed on the word “swagger”. Thank you for these programs. I love the growth of the artists.
Oh, how delightful to see this. Thank you so much for posting these and any of these programs that you can. It's the only way I have of viewing them.

That light blue background will be great on that red brick and in the shadowy alcove.
I love Hilary Mantel. Rest In Peace

Gorgeous work.... an exciting future ahead for Nick Lord who is just starting to figure out his style. Thanks for posting this!
Amazing Nick Lord. Well done. An artist indeed.

I preferred that one too!
Yeah- she wanted to look like someone she's not

You don't get Mantel, do you?
@@diddums86 care to elaborate?
Bravo! Creating style with a different medium is amazing!

I loved this video! I would love to paint, but cant. What a beautiful caption of such a lovely lady. Great Job, Mr. Lord!!!!!
Simply an astounding portrait!
Nick is a great artist and Hilary as WELL
Thank you for posting! I so much enjoy this show😊
Fantastic painting, Nick!
Nick was unjustly chosen from the beginning.
A close up of her beautiful eyes should have sufficed and been enough for our dear eyes as well
Ty😊
Bravo!
she seems lovely
Unbelievable they would choose a red brick wall for the painting...looking forward to his solution.

They work together on the portrait. He asks, and right off, she suggests holding a pen.
Great portrait. I wasn't that impressed with the first portrait bcs for me it wasn't a great likeness but as Nick went on I started liking his work more and more. Congrats
Does anyone know what type of paint he's using?
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I deem the work suitable.
How vey gracious.
I didn't really care for the final outcome. I didn't see "swagger", and the drips were a distraction and gimmicky.
gimmicky & VERY overdone

She is a little bit demandig person, considering his face and his age! Let the painter to see what he see on you!

Underwhelmed.
What an ugly subject. Bordering on troll like.
A rather cruel comment, there are all kinds of beauty, some more external, some more internal, often a dance between the two.
Quite internal in this case
She is - was - extra-ordinary.
You want conventional prettiness, watch Barbie.
Offensive comment!
You think she should be pretty ... She is one of the great novelists of the century.
