Portrait Artist of the Year.... now that’s a real competition. Sky ARTS TV.
SUFFERING FOR YOUR ART IS NOT: "experts" making you painting in blinding sun because "outstanding artists should be able to paint anywhere" and comment about people being sunburned... Every painting looked like a black velvet poster - through no fault of the artists. The sun is blinding and you paint darker with harder contrasts. Subtle touches are lost. Love to see more art shows - bummed they think the only way to make it exciting is abusing the competitors.
The reality show aspect is a bummer. In my opinion, it would be cooler and have a different and more positive and fresh vibe-as well as a learning vibe(for the audience)- if they all stayed and got judged on each painting and in the end an overall winner was chosen.
I totally agree.
Instead of bringing a potential division
I vote for unity!
where every ones work is judged in all aspects and let the contestants each judge value each other contestant showing how they look to judging themselves- and read annonomously.
Then a secret ballot where each could vote on a winner of anyone else but themselves. After the judges do same announce winner - then see how the contestants judged retrospectively.
Did they make any sence? Lol
I also agree
Sadly, division sells more.
Most are wired to get more curious where there is anger and conflict
If we would take a look at history we can see that forced division or conflict can create unity
But it should and I do believe ir would change.
Strong hearted and strong minded people who are not afraid to bresk this pattern can make this happen.
Maybe the ones who "Lose" here can start their own show :)
I so much agree! This is so mainstream like this - by the wrong meaning.
I agree. I would rather see how people grow than see someone thrown off because they had an off day or the heat was too much or it just wasn’t their subject matter.
Very true! I had always thought of the art community as a group that encourages and promotes each other!
Painting in the hot sun, with the glare on the canvas, meanwhile the judges relax in the shade. 🤔
This is the meanest advertisement for an art school I’ve ever seen. Barf.
Dang you couldn't even let her keep the overalls! That was brutal! These reality competition shows need to do something different.
Ritika your art is absolutely some of my favorite !!! Don’t let it discourage you, keep following your passion and shine ! You are an inspiration !!!
Thank you James. My art gives me strength and I’ve persevered and become a better version of myself and an artist . This journey has been so inspirational and life transforming making me into a better version of myself . 😊
@@RitikaAurora My heart was so touched by the scenes where you had to leave. So happy to read that the journey inspired and transformed you 🙏🏻
@RitikaAurora understanding a little bit of the culture for girls in your country, I felt those emotions you carry for your daughters. I also trust that both you and your daughters know that you're a very talented artist...so being an example for them to push themselves out of their comfort zone, even if that push doesn't always result as the proverbial "win". However, it does open the door to some of the lessons we experience in life...that we have to keep getting up when we feel like we've "failed" while doing the best we could...given the circumstances. The lessons and experiences that lie within our fall can also help show us the way to do better the next time. Namaste
I’ve definately come out stronger and have come a long way since then . But yes one thing I know for sure now that once you take charge of your life’s things start aligning for you and you are on the path to your destiny . It won’t be easy but persevering is the answer . Now when I look back I’m glad this show was part of my journey .
@@RitikaAurora I was so touched by your story and journey. Your art has a powerful message infused into it and leaving the show first does not diminish it's power to touch and change lives! xox
Dangerous to paint out in the glaring sun especially when you're not even doing landscapes! Skin cancer is real. And the reflected glare of the sun from canvases and wet paint can damage your eyes. How about a few safety measures for your next contest?
We're definitely taking this into consideration next season. Thanks for your input!
I really loved Naomi's Hephaestus piece. The colors are amazing, and I feel like the judges missed the fact that Hephaestus isn't meant to have a proportional face...it was why he was cast out of Olympus. The proportions felt intentional to me to represent him in the beauty of his imperfections.
Exactly!!
Well said! Losing the essence of the piece. That's not allowing an artist to create from their heart. But if he sells it and makes money, what's the harm. Compromise sometimes is needed when you have others dictating how your art should be. Defeats the whe purpose of expression.
See, it's the one I didn't like!, it felt like there was so much still to do.
I thought it was amazing too. So powerful & vivid & I think you’re right about the asymmetry of his face. More representational than just drawing a withered leg or a cane 🤷♀️ Although would have loved to see a close up of the details
@@margaretpinsent6388Interesting - but again that rawness of the piece to me captured the essence of him as a god of blacksmithing, craftsmen, fire, volcanology etc. There were some pieces that I didn’t know which god they represented, but hers was clear without spelling it out too obviously I thought
Gosh, I feel so sad for that poor woman who travelled so far to be there only to be sent back home. I think figurative paintings are suitable for selling Harlequin Romance Novels.
Painting in the heat, having only 4 hours and its the first challenge is SO rough!
This one was really tough, indeed!
Awful and unhealthy ‼️🥵
I'm an artist and I don't think that I could ever put myself in that kind of competition. I hope that Ritika is O.K.~ that was a bit harsh, and some artists tend to be a bit fragile about their work. I think the show needs a little tweaking.
GOD said You’re already a winner Zybrena!!! Let’s go!!!
Love a good contest show. Surprised though at how all of these women have such a similar style. Maybe all graduates of Milan Art Institute? It is going to make it even more exciting to see how they distinguish themselves going forward. 👏 👏
I was thinking the same , I feel it's monotonous to some degree
Was thinking exactly the same, almost as if the styles reflect Dimitra's work.
Would be good to see some individuality.
the whole school churns out the exact same style and claim everyone has their own unique voice.
@@TwentyFourTigers is that true only art of some kind sells more than others??
Its because the curators arent open minded.
Why would they set them up for sunburn and over heating? One contestant addmitted to having stroke like symptoms before they were sent out into the blazing sun with no shade. Did anybody else notice no chairs. Way too low budget for my interest.
The judges view all the paintings with sunglasses on 😑😑😑 and then take them off as soon as they address all the artists? Cmon.
I wish that everyone stayed for the entire time so we could watch them develop over time. Or at least there were only eliminations once a week. The top 3 were very strong but I’m sad Ritika was eliminated. I absolutely love her style & her past work is so beautiful. It did seem a reasonable decision though.
Getting to watch VERY talented and much more experienced artists share their confidence and self doubt when creating, I fully appreciate the authenticity.
You're so kind! Love the support you show for your fellow artists!
I AM DEVASTATED! Every single artist here is so amazing. Every single one of them deserved to go the next round
... ''tutti-frutti meets tarot'' ...is the color-vibe I'm getting here.
I’m so happy that this season is finally being released! So excited to see these ladies’ journeys.
Ritika, I loved your work and your style. You are a beautiful woman and so talented. So sad to see you leave😢
The whole “reality show” manufactured drama is a bit much. I’m much more drawn to Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year.
Awesome Katrina! I knew you'd be in the top 3 :)
thank you so much! It sure was a challenge!
Why they can paint inside ,sun like this is totally not good
That was intense, I was really sad for Ritaka.
As a new self taught artist, I am blown away by the talent of these wonderful women. Including the lovely Ritika. She has amazjng talent. ❤
Infomercial for the "school" Bummer! Even the critics don't seem to know much. Try a tarp for shade. It's really nuts to put painters in the hot sun..
So intense! Lots of talent. Go Katrina!!
I wasn't really impressed with the art I viewed but hopefully, it'll get better as the show progresses.
A lot of good artists but obviously Katrina is awesome!! 🎉
aw thank you so much
Yes! I agree!!
@katrinakoltes I've always loved your work! Glad to see you getting out there even more! That heat looked like it was a scorcher for everybody!
Thank you so much! Yes it was a killer
I am happy to watch these kind of programs to see how you can challenge yourself as an artist. The only thing that stunned me a bit is that all the artists paints mostly portraits, as if it was an important component to get selected. I guess I just want different art, seeing art being made with different components that portraits.
Anyway, lovely to have this to watch as an artist myself and learning more about the Milan family !
really enjoyed watching this , such great talent , as an artist myself I understand the rollercoaster of emotions on creation , looking forward to watching the next episode.
The artist @ 29:25 is amazing! I think her name was Anna. Also, I love Dimitra's dress.
Omg I loved it! Is my first time watching TOA. Where can I watch the previous seasons?? 😮
Best painting was this one with the chain. Love it!
I love all the artists on here! I have to admit tho, that I’m rooting for fellow Canadian artist Tanya Aubut, because her art is so unique and striking!
aweee you are so sweet Sasha❤❤
I think it was a great idea to paint the gods and have them randomly selected by the artists. 4 hrs is really fast but I guess it's part of the competition being under pressure. I really liked the colors in Ritika's painting and for the most part, the composition. I wouldn't have picked her to be eliminated in this round. Enjoyed watching and they're all great artists and I hope you all feel proud. :) Milan Art Institute thanks for bringing us this show.
Ahh i find this too bad! I loved her art the most. I mean the pieces of her that they showed she made outside of this show. I was really curious to see more, get inspiration and learn from her style. I'm definitely going to her site and looking to her paintings, because they were gorgeous!
When does the next one come out??? I'm dying and have watch this twice already lol
\The elimination process is ugly. insensitive and emotionally painful to one very talented artist! Shame on you judges and producers for allowing such ugliness to be linked to the wonderful world of art.
Finally a show worth watching!!! Wonderful! Can't wait for the next episode. I have my favorites 🙂... Jessi and Naomi.
Gosh!! Goosebumps! :D
I saw some really great pieces! I think FOR SURE they shouldn’t have made them work under dangerous conditions like they did. They have thousands of shaded/ indoor places to let them work. Yea it’s beautiful scenery for the visuals for the show but other than that it’s pointless making them suffer like that. A sunburn and getting overheated can effect you for days afterwards.
Yay👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 are we starting? I guess I should just watch
Yes it's started, you can watch now Lu! :)
Amazing
So I’m guessing you have to have gone to the Milan program to participate? I would love to do something like this!!
How did I just find this series?? :D Perfect to watch while sketching
Thank you so much
Thank you so much for putting this together! One can learn so much by watching these. Best type of entertainment 🎉
We’re so glad that you enjoyed it😍
Oh my God ! About time to get a reality art contest....😮 Sooooo interesting !😊
Portrait/landscape artist of the year mixed with Project Runway formulas... Hummm
I am familiar with Katrina’s work and without knowing it was her artwork when displayed nor knowing that she was participating on the challenge I recognised her work. That’s amazing ❤😊
This is brilliant
In that heat why were they not provided with a shade cover🤦♀️
Not that I mind it at all, but why I noticed must of these ladies art work is focused mostly on the female form. some variety in their work could probably be fun to see.
Great video but how do we see the other 3seasons?
I like the host. He isn’t cold like many are in a professionals setting . I appreciate his warmth
When are the episodes dropping? I only recently joined art club and binged seasons 1 and 2, so I hope there’s not long gaps between each episode haha
I love how this show is exciting to watch, spotlighting art! There are competition shows on everything else but actually painting art, so thank you! It has inspired me to get back into painting too.
We're so glad that you love it! That is exactly what we thought! We're going to continue developing the show over time. Here's to 50 more seasons!
I really loved the Hephaestus painting. It was so powerful & strong. And was his asymmetry a representation of why he was cast out of Olympus? In which case I think the judges missed that aspect. Of course, we didn’t get to see it close up so can’t see the fine detail, but I was mesmerised by that & Poseidon from early on
i feel like it definitely could’ve been a more vibrant host to lighten the energy of the crowd. & the male judge obviously does not know how to judge art. he must’ve been nervous, he was speaking in one word increments 😂
Yeah, she plans for a month away and they eliminate her. The one who deserved the time away the most. And I disagree with them. Too bummed to watch the rest.
Excited to see some different techniques and gorgeous work.
Fantastic! I'm a HUGE Katrina Koltes fan and own several of her paintings! Wonderful to see the amazing challenges in this show! :)
Awesome! It is amazing to see how people perform under pressure, and whether they play it safe or go bold and creative. I cannot imagine how I would do in their place. Really great to see these amazing artists coming together in this setting and showing what is possible.
You can’t blame your art supplies for a bad painting. The rules and theories of art don’t change. Perspective and proportions and color theory are the same no matter the supplies
why do they all have the same style of painting?
Where can I watch Season 1 and 2?
Glad to see the show started! Excited for all you ladies! Really glad to see women only since it seems like there are so many more women involved on art social than men. I like to see our numbers represented properly! Good luck to everyone! ❤️
When does Episode 2 (season 3) come out?
Where are the dudes?
Funny how many people thought Jess is really strong. She has a very distinct & vivid style but not my scene at all. But that’s the great thing about art - there’s something for everyone
my back and neck hurt to see them painting without an easel 😢
What season is this. There is no actual playlists on this channel to watch the first season. Ahhh so confusing
So who did win... where is the final episode showing the winner ???
So when does the next episode get released?
Next Thursday at 4 pm EDT❤️
@@milanartapp are they all being released on RUclips or in Art Club? I don't se Season 3 in Art Club yet.
This was very enjoyable to watch. Thank you for sharing with us! xx
Could you mention that they all are graduates of the Milan Art Institute? I like the name Milan Art School better. More approachable. Friendlier feeling.
how come there's no male artists
Because it's an infomercial for the school. All women maybe??? No actual artist's that are self made and successful from ground up in this click.
that makes sense & the are is god awful its all so generic im certainly not watching any more@@carlosduran6888
I was a little confused by that too. What was the selection process? Strikes me as odd that it’s all attractive women
I'm a huge fan of this series! Loved watching all 3 seasons! Thank you so much for producing these 🥰
So one woman has a heat stroke, then all 3 of the winners have the exact same style and color scheme, and finally the woman eliminated is told that "we all can make bad paintings and lose."
Is this the depths of artist hell?
Right?! Great idea for a show and I appreciate the school but the hosts/creators also seem to love and produce this sort of commercialized style where the canvas is full but not every stroke is intentional. It is way too home department store-esque and doesn’t work for me at all. I would have chosen three completely different top artists. Ritika omg 💔. She was reasonably in the bottom for this round just based on some dimensions.. but she also really didn’t deserve to go. I loved her style and could really see where that painting was going, last in the first round should have gotten a warning or a demerit or something… Anyway, I can’t imagine painting anything nearly as good as any of these ladies in four hours in the boiling hot sun ☀️ 5 hours in a more forgiving environment would be nice!
Nice idea, but terrible stiff host, judges are anemic and flat, and the content contrived. Great artists who deserved better. Watch Portrait Artist of the Year or Landscape Artist of the Year, which are far better executed programs.
This was really nice to watch but am just curious, "can you wash these clothes after painting on them ?"
does anybody know who won? i watched this but was so confused in the last episode who won did all of them win?
I loved it. More please.
I did not notice When this video was created. Reason why I am wondering is because, when I was in AZ in 2010. I seen much of this type of art that is in this video, besides a lot of abstract. Many Native Indian's, in their art also added the Owl, the fox, raven, eagle along with a woman. I did not see a lot of Drip wash of colors of, like dirty water. The more vibrant color, adding animals into the back ground of tall city buildings is different. Now I am assuming much of the art is not completed, but when showing some of their finished work, I did not see a big difference in style. Four hours not easy ,hot ,humid. Body anatomy off in several . Great effort in four hours
This is such an amazing show
I just wish that they would show the paintings with the artists towards the end.
Soleil, caméra défi infernal
Love all of your work beautiful work 💖
I heard the Director John Cunningham is a Star!!!!!
Amazing marketing, great competition. It I would have wanted a canopy for the artists in that heat. Content great. Thank you much enjoyed.
I was thinking the same. They going for heat stroke first thing? Shew!
@@ArtAffects I was wondering if they looked like beetroots the next day and had to have a break in filming because I certainly would have been a beet. 🤣🤣
I’d have been booted off just because I can’t cope with heat
I DO NOT LIKE THE HURT OF BEING TOLD SHE “HAD BEEN ELIMINATED”
WHAT A HARSH NASTY WAY TO WORD WHAT ISNT NICE ANYWAY!!!
Please rethink this !!! You are better than this!!!
I think it's a shame to eliminate after every session. Surely there's a way to have a meaningful competition. If scores were kept a secret from the artist, but we can see them, and maybe at the end of each session they could choose the top 3 best, the 3 who've improved the most, the bottom 3. I'd be way more interested to see artists reaching potential, improving as the time passes, and also how some reach a ceiling and get no better. Maybe by 3/4 of the way thru the whole challenge , 1/3 could be sent home. Picking just one to go home is humiliating. I think sending an artist home after just one session is dreadful, and unnecessary even for 'tv'. I hope the organisers will rethink the format for next year.
Love you guys, very interesting show.
The styles look all very similar and... juvenile to a degree. Looks a lot like my high school art class to be honest.
I love this! So exciting to see how this continues. 🙌🏼😵😍 so funny ppl in the comments complaining. No one came here forced, everyone grows as an artist through this experience. I admire these contestants so much 🙌🏼 ..can’t wait for the next episode!
Totally agree, Laura! We're so thankful for your support. The contestants are so amazing!
Each of those girls are disappointed, there's no d anywhere b
is this a Canadian show? Everyone was so sweet and polite and real 🍠🍠
Are all of the contestants members of the "Milan AI" because if not, Id say Bri is going to win because she took the courses. Wow, if so, what PR!
