*****The suicide mission in ME2 is literally a suicide mission if you are a shit player. Even Shepard can die if you're bad enough. That means that save file cannot go on to ME3, that's the end of the series for them
In the suicide mission any character who's loyalty hasn't been secured or who is put in a position they aren't qualified for can die. I let grunt lead the fire team for the seeker swarm segment and he died of a gunshot wound to the gut. That run I lost legion, grunt and mordin. If I hadn't upgraded my ship I could have lost Garrus and Jack on the way in. The computer makes a bunch of rolls based on the stats of each character. Glass cannons like Jack and support personelle like Mordin are unusually vulnerable to dying. Grunt and Garrus are critical to protect the rest of the squad during the collector segment. And loyal Jack is my lucky charm in the seeker swarm segment. I adore Samara but I've never lost that segment with Jack ever.

My first playthrough of the trilogy I kept in mind from Virmire on that when I got to Mass Effect 3 the Reapers were coming and we were going to need everyone we could to fight. So everyone's loyalty mission got done. I still lost people on the suicide mission, specifically Mordin and Grunt, because I didn't give them the right roles. I think it was Mordin and Grunt. Can't 100% remember. I saw tension building up around Miranda wanting to lead the fire team and thought "oh no, we're not doing this in the middle of a suicide mission, Grunt gets the role!"

I'm always glad that there are youtube vids to look at the different ways ME3 could have went, because I definitely couldn't bear to play it with Garrus dead. I play FemShep with Kaidan as my LI, but Garrus will always be my bro! BTW, nice Shep!
