  • This is a interesting find from Huerta Hospital. Though it has not been confirmed that it was Jokers sister.
    Link to the Wiki: masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Jeff...
    A few weeks before the battle on Thessia, the Reapers hit the colony of Tiptree, where Joker's father and sister are located. Liara later informs Jeff that her Shadow Broker network has news on refugee ships from Tiptree landing on Salarian territory. Even though the reports don't come with names and claim that the refugees consist "mostly of children", Joker clings to the hope that at least his sister Hilary, being only fifteen, is among them. Liara supports him in this belief, claiming that "right now, he needs to take all the hope he can get". However, it is hinted by a member of asari Commandos on the Citadel that Joker's sister is in fact among the dead, as the asari mentions "having to shoot a farm girl on Tiptree" to prevent banshees from discovering the group. She recalls the girl "wanted to be a pilot when she grows up. Her name was Hilary."

      the girl waiting for her parents can be found the the area where the makeshift housing is in the other docking bay. she will occasionally walk up to the Turian at the desk and ask if he's heard anything. “War is atrocity committed in the name of survival” -Javik. Trust me, the first time I made the connection between Joker’s sister, and this Asari Commando, it literally sent chills down my spine. Makes you wonder, if Joker ever found out the fate of her sister.

    • @pendrake40
      @pendrake40 3 года назад +14

      @@GodOfWar221 ~ Joker probably did find out, eventually; most likely after the war was over and a full assessment losses was accounted.
      This, among many other reasons, was why when the time came, I chose the Red-Destroy option to end the threat of The Reapers. Anything less (Blue-Control or Green-Synthesis) either risked all of this horror repeating again (& again, & again, & again...), or rendering all the death and sacrifice for nothing.

    • @GodOfWar221
      @GodOfWar221 3 года назад +6

      @@pendrake40 That’s why I chose the destroy ending too. After all, wasn’t that what we set out to do in the first place? Stop the Reapers? I didn’t wanna risk the war ever happening again, or the sacrifices of all those people to mean nothing.

    • @pendrake40
      @pendrake40 3 года назад +12

      @@GodOfWar221 ~ Agreed. For my own Point-of-View reasoning...
      1. *_Blue Control choice_** ~* To take control of The Reapers, but Shepard losing his/her Humanity to do so, risks the Reaper Harvest Cycle beginning again at some far-future point. Additionally, choosing the Blue Control option means proving the Illusive Man "right," and that all the utterly horrific things that The Illusive Man and Cerberus did would be vindicated.
      *_NEVER_* vindicate someone like the Illusive Man. *_Ever._*
      2. *_Green Synthesis choice_** ~* This also was not a good long-term solution. Despite ending the Reaper War and bringing relative peace and harmony between organics and machines, it could never truly last. Eventually, organic life would (independently) re-emerge on its own, as it always does (As Dr. Ian Malcom famously said, _"Life finds a way.")._ This means such a gap between the Synthesis beings and organic beings would inevitably result in a new version of The Harvest (probably forcing new organics to Synthesize).
      3. *_Red Destroy choice_** ~* So yes, as both harsh and also sad as it was to do so, the Red Destroy choice was really the only viable and moral choice to make. The only definitive way to end the cycling threat of The Reapers and The Harvest, was to *_>end

      It wasn't because she was anti-human, but her field experience gave her full-blown PTSD and survivor guilt.
      The part that she worried about her eyes was...well, we do know the Banshee variant of the Husk is make from Asari with Ardat-Yakshi conditions, but since this side story is around the onset of the galetic war, the intel on husks are limited as at that time, Husks are more commonly known made from humans.

    "Yeah, a friend. I wanted to be more than that but she had a... medical condition"
    "It's okay, it's in the file"
    Considering that there's only one "medical condition" we know of among the Asari that might make sexual relationships dangerous... that's got to be one hell of a self-disciplined Ardat-Yakshi.

    • @K07HeSc
      @K07HeSc 8 лет назад +252

      I'm pretty sure Morinth was a special case. She's stated to have been completely addicted to seducing others and then murdering them. From what I could tell, all Ardat-Yakshi get stronger after the mind-meld, but not all of them are as psycopathic as Morinth.

    • @RaxuRangerkingsChannel
      @RaxuRangerkingsChannel 8 лет назад +92

      +Pyro Gear I noticed that too. Also, aren't Asari X Asari relations considered taboo in their culture, as it might produce an Ardat Yakshi? If this friend of hers was so open about her condition, why wasn't she in a monastery like the rest? Falere, for example, wasn't a murderous AY and she was still locked up.

    • @thekaboominator1
      @thekaboominator1 8 лет назад +139

      +RaxuRangerking Not taboo, just looked down on. It's possible, if she was an AY, that she'd been in the Monastery for a long time and deemed enough in control to join the battle - after all, times are desperate.

      Blood Pill The lore around Ardat-Yakshi got a massive retcon between ME 2 and 3. Samara told us that her three children were the only Ardat-Yakshi in existence currently, and she's not the type to tell lies. Then in ME3, we have that Ardat-Yakshi monastery, which pretty clearly establishes that it had what amounts to a full-on student body of Ardat-Yakshi living there full time.
      Anyway, yes. The Codex mentions that Banshees are made from Asari with "latent or active predispositions" to becoming Ardat-Yakshi.

    The actress does a pretty good job of portraying something as close as anyone could understand to the aftermath of living through such an event. Having your former comrades turned into half-machine zombie slaves of eldritch horrors. It is all very Lovecraft-ian, but our brains could never contemplate that kind of horror. Her survivors grief is almost palatable in this scene, which could have been so much more dramatic if it had been from a cut-scene POV and not sanitized by just overhearing it. Still creepy.

Whereas if you dont tell him, you could lie to him and encourage him to work harder, that the sooner we destroy the reapers the sooner we can go look for your sister, that kind of shit. And curious, would a stasis field be noisy enough for the reapers to know they were hiding, i mean a powerful huntress could lock the girl into a stasis field until the search team left, and given that the stasis field is strong enough to stop any biological processes, the infection of the girls legs would be delayed until the rescue no?

    This is my first time seeing this, I never got the chance to experience it through my playthrough and this literally pisses me off, during one of the conversations between Liara and Joker on the Normandy, Liara mentions to Joker that Tiptree had managed to get evacuees and that "most of them were teens and children" leading you to believe that Joker's father was gone but his sister may have yet lived so that's what I'm thinking, now I see this and it just pisses me off the way that Hilary died. I don't know how Asari Commando's prioritize innocents but most soldiers protect the weak at any cost, this bitch killed Jokers sister to save her own life and the worse part is BioWare never gave us an option to at least tell him, here he is thinking his sister could be safe but turns out she got snuffed out by a coward, that really pisses me off..what makes it even worse is I chose the Destory ending so (SPOILERS) Joker loses his family and EDI, feel bad for him

    • @johndoe86135
      @johndoe86135 10 лет назад +25

      The Asari made the right choice had she not done it the girl would've gave away their position and gotten them both killed. And soldiers don't protect the weak at all cost. They do their job at all cost to complete their mission. If their mission is to protect some people then ya they will but if it's something else and someone gets in their way then, they're going going to complete their mission no matter the cost.

    • @spectrestatus7110
      @spectrestatus7110 10 лет назад +10

      johndoe86135 You're telling me that an Asari Commando, one of the most deadly armed forces in the galaxy couldn't find another way to silence a 15 year old girl? how about maybe knocking her out unconscious? or maybe gagging her mouth shut? no this stupid bitch panicked and decided to kill her so she could survive, she wan't thinking about the mission she was thinking about her self...the fact that Hilary was human and not Asari probably didn't help either

    • @hopearchangel4624
      @hopearchangel4624 10 лет назад +14

      johnathon edwards John is right.The Asari was in a desperate situation and would have gotten killed had Hilary not stopped whimpering. Had there been time to find another solution, she might have tried another way, but there wasn't. She had to make a decision to choose between life or death and she chose life. You have to do what you have to do to survive. Not everyone is going to come out alive. Some of it may have been due to the fact that she wasn't an Asari, so she killed her to help herself, but not the main reason.

    • @ElGringoCastellano
      @ElGringoCastellano 10 лет назад +14

      It's terrible that she killed her, sure. She could have found a way to keep her quiet without killing her, if she had thought of something. It's not her fault that she didn't, though. The trauma she went through, the things she saw, and the position she was in all compromised her emotionally and rationally; she panicked and made the best choice she could think of, which happened to kill an innocent seemingly unnecessarily.
      This is why war is so tragic. Very few people are strong enough to endure all the horrors and still make the best and most moral choices possible. They aren't bad people; they're only human (or asari, in this particular case).

    • @allenwalker7653

    • @TsunTzu
      @TsunTzu 10 лет назад +1

      yodacasper
      Well, see, that's kind of the problem with it. ME3 and DA2 both switched to this style of background ancillary exposition that, in their predecessors, was a lot more fleshed out and not spoon-fed in such a manner as this.
      It's a byproduct of the development time being halved for both titles. For instance, the side quests without accompanying direct dialogue/story; it's a shortcut method of padding out game time. Consider the difference in side quests from ME1 and ME2 to ME3.
      There was stuff similar to this in the previous games, to be sure, but they rely on this style a lot more heavily to deliver "important" plot points, which I would argue that this revelation is, since it fills in part of a side arc involving a primary character.

    Mass effect 3 reportedly got the last of its development fast tracked so they could make a holiday release(ssemed to mostly effect the ending), and yet the game is still filled to the brim with characters, stories and details that I still don't know about. I mean recently I realized while playing the legendary edition that the asari on illium with boyfriend troubles, largely over whether he really loves her or just wants a kid to overcome the genophage, eventually ends up on the citadel in the third game, you can find her boyfriend, Charr's body in the rachni mission and deliver his final message to her where he implies through poetry(Which he had also been reciting to get her to come back to him on illium) hints that he wanted to live his life with her on tuchanka and take care of their daughter, the final line implying she was already pregnant.
