Crawling In The Dark by Hoobastank is a powerful anthem of self-discovery and searching for purpose. The song’s driving guitar riffs and dynamic vocals convey a sense of urgency and introspection as the lyrics explore the uncertainty of navigating life’s challenges. Doug Robb’s voice brings an emotional weight to the feeling of being lost yet determined to find answers. I loved the song right from the intro but never knew who did it and eventually forgot about it. This song along with Audioslave's "Show Me How To Live" are great songs to sing to the Heavens regardless of whether or not you believe in God. Both songs are about trying to find meaning in a seemingly meaningless world. And they're awesome!
I will dedicate and sacrifice my every-thing For just a seconds worth of how my story's ending And I wish I could know if the directions that I take And all the choices that I make won't end up all for nothing Show me what it's for Make me understand it I've been crawling in the dark Looking for the answer Is there something more Than what I've been handed? I've been crawling in the dark Looking for the answer Help me carry on Assure me it's ok to Use my heart and not my eyes To navigate the darkness Will the ending be Ever coming suddenly? Will I ever get to see The ending to my story? Show me what it's for Make me understand it I've been crawling in the dark Looking for the answer Is there something more Than what I've been handed?

Damn I'm 36 already... Call me old fart, but this was a period when mainstream music was actually good. I mean, just compare this (along with Linking Park, System Of A Down, Disturbed...) to what passes for music these days... Crawling in the Dark is the only song that I would consider listening to by Hoobastank now. When it was first coming out I was mentoring a bunch of young people at the local fire department and one of them introduced me to the song. It just connected to me, in such a way. To me, it summed up what it was like to go into a burning fire, and the internal monologue you have with yourself. We use to joke that our station would make a hell of a TV show, and one day I suggested it would be only if the theme song was Crawling in the Dark...I got a few crossed looks at first, then for the longest time, when the alarm would drop, several of us would play the song in our heads....sorry just felt I needed to share that story.
Yeah I despised The Reason with a passion when that got played to death and I was ready to write this band off forever but then I heard this song and I changed my tune, I also liked "Next Direction"(which was featured in the movie "Catwoman").

this song never gets old!!!!
Hoobastank love those guys that was my era of rock listening to it in 2018 can't wait to see them November 7th
Back when music was music, glad I grew up in that era.
Digital Generation: "I hate Nickelback, they suck."
Also Digital Generation: "Fetty Wap and Lil Yatchy are the shit."
This is why I am glad I grew up in the 2000s. Minus Dubba and the shitty world events, the 2000s was pretty awesome decade to live in.
I like your profile picture @Concerned Citizen
Me too
music is still music
Every previous generation says this about the current generations music though
RIP best music 1990-2010
Some bands stills doing some good rock/metal, but they aren't famous... :(

33 and still loving this! funny story with this song 😂… my sister made a mixtape back in the day (yes I’m referring to an actual CASSETTE TAPE where you had to listen to the radio for a song you liked and hoped you hit the record button in time to get the whole thing 😅) and this was on it along with “semi-charmed life” and a bunch of other great 90’s and 00’s songs. I loved the song right from the intro but never knew who did it and eventually forgot about it. Fast forward to recently…RUclips algorithm must’ve known I was feeling nostalgic and this video popped up on my feed! I immediately added it to my Apple Music library. Man…what a great era of music.
Well here I am only just discovering this band, better late than never I guess
👀
it took me long enough to actually find this song, i first heard it in an acceleracers amv some years ago, but couldnt find it
Same
Me too. Am 42😬

And Josh Brolin on guitar.
Low key one of the best song in the genre.
When I was a little kid I grew up off my brother playing music like this. He was a good person. I miss him so much.
This song still crushes. Holy smokes!!! Where have the last 20 years gone!??!!??
bro u probably spend them behind a desk and paying mortgages... statisticly speaking
@@robertidonotsharemyfullnam496 Unfortunately. =) I need to be reminded to "show me what it's for....lest I continue to crawl in the dark" =)
It's so cool to jump on the tube and come across songs from when I was 16 and younger. I'm 34 now and talk about some memory floods of the good ole days
This song along with Audioslave's "Show Me How To Live" are great songs to sing to the Heavens regardless of whether or not you believe in God. Both songs are about trying to find meaning in a seemingly meaningless world. And they're awesome!
Amen 🙏
I am 56 years old and this is one of the best hard rock songs of the 90's and 2000's. It definitely didn't suck!
I will dedicate and sacrifice my every-thing
For just a seconds worth of how my story's ending
And I wish I could know if the directions that I take
And all the choices that I make won't end up all for nothing
Show me what it's for
Make me understand it
I've been crawling in the dark
Looking for the answer
Is there something more
Than what I've been handed?
I've been crawling in the dark
Looking for the answer
Help me carry on
Assure me it's ok to
Use my heart and not my eyes
To navigate the darkness
Will the ending be
Ever coming suddenly?
Will I ever get to see
The ending to my story?
Show me what it's for
Make me understand it
I've been crawling in the dark
Looking for the answer
Is there something more
Than what I've been handed?
Damn, ii wish these kind of musics become popular again.
This band is one of the main reasons I have a PRS guitar. The guitar tracks Hoobastank puts out sound INCREDIBLE.
My gawwwwwwd! my teenage heart! this was in my brain in my sleep and I've not heard it in 20 years!
Man those were the days burning cds and sharing awesome music with friends
Блин, какой же офигенный трэк! Заставляет вернуться в молодость каждый раз)
The 2000s were a goated era for Rock music : Linkin Park, Hoobastank, Three Days Grace and Nickelback to name but a few ❤️
AT 64 yrs old and an old rocker, I can say that this question never gets answered and IT SUCKS! haha. Kudos to Hoobestank for asking this question. Must be played at 11 out of 10!!!
Takes me back to high school days. Where the hell did time go? Saw them in concert and it was a great show!!
"Crawling in the dark.
I cannot find my keys."
- Lawrence Sonntagg from Funhaus
Unbreakable Bruce’s cover is far better
I see you are also a man of culture and class.
Glad i checked both songs and found funhaus comments
Every view this video has is from people who came here after Bruce sang this song in a Funhaus video!
I love all of you please be my friends. I was looking for this comment
ahhh the early 2000's. When the soul patch was slightly in style still.
No, no it wasn't.
nonam namrson hey dont you make fun of my flavor saver
SportsFan1984 lol it was still frowned upon
oh. OK huah
The first time I saw this music video was in the year 2002 the lead singer is the same aged of me.just remains me my younger years but I still young in heart.
This is definitely the best song by the band Hoobastank. The best song of all time, the best song that marked my adolescence. This song is just fantastic.
Damn I'm 36 already... Call me old fart, but this was a period when mainstream music was actually good. I mean, just compare this (along with Linking Park, System Of A Down, Disturbed...) to what passes for music these days... And during this period I was mostly into punk and metal, but over time I learned to appreciate this.
Shit. I'm 42. Metal head. Heard this a long time ago. I like it still. I enjoy it and not gonna apologize for it
same age... cheers ~~
How many times did we hear our previous generation say the same about the music they grew up with and saying the same about what music we were into. Today's generation will be saying the same when they're in their late 20's/early 30's.
Make every day count dude
Now only rNb stuff around. Good old days when almost every movie soundtrack had rock music!
I listen a skylit drive they form Lodi California their like those metal hardcore post
This is such a nostalgic era of rock that I love so much
i remember i was in high school when this song came out freshman year but i used to watch BET 106 and park and this song came on one day at number 3 thats how accepted by black culture hoobastank was
After all these years, still looking....
If you played aggressive in-line you know this song💯
Thank you! Wondering what that game was called.
my friend Andy got me this album for my 14th birthday.... i'm 36 now and served 2 years overseas and still listen to this song. never quit rocking friends.
September 2001, the Tabernacle, Atlanta. My first solo concert to see Incubus live. Hoobastank opened and I was blown away. Underrated band to this day and this song killed live.
September 2001. Damn.
I'm 37 and this will always be on my playlist
37 too and amen to that. Great great track.
36 n i agree
Its a shame they can't be remembered by this instead of the reason
I miss these days of MTV hard rock live concerts early 2000s rock was the best
Awesome story thanks for sharing Deegan
You are a badass!
Yeah I despised The Reason with a passion when that got played to death and I was ready to write this band off forever but then I heard this song and I changed my tune, I also liked "Next Direction"(which was featured in the movie "Catwoman").
Glad it help u get threw
More. It's very intriguing!🤔
Born in 1978.This song belongs to my roots.True legacy.❤️
I was only 10 when this song came out and my uncle showed me . RIP Uncle atoo
God I miss those day when music was good like this
These guys still have all the energy! Great shows to this day.
Only problem with this song is it isn't long enough. How has it been 16 years already??
Time is faster than what we think.
Hoobastank, Tony Hawk games, Final Destination movies, everyone buying houses and cars, what a great time!!!
Every time I hear this song I’m transported to Summerfest when I was 13. Hinder, 3DG, Hoobastank, and Nickelback. Every band was amazing
10 years later and i still cant get this song out of my head
