Cape Cod False Albacore Fishing | From the Shore

  • I arrived at the beach this morning, about twenty minutes after the sunrise.
As soon as I parked my car I noticed several birds dive bombing bait on the north side of a nearby rock jetty. Instantly I ran down to the water - no time for waders!
At first I thought all the fish were schoolie stripers, but then suddenly (and without any warning) a half dozen albies tore through the frantic school of peanut bunker which was pinned up against the jetty.
I tried to keep my composure, but the opportunity to catch big albies from shore on Cape Cod does not happen everyday!

Nice albie for sure . Pretty fish nice catch do you have spikes on the soles or just plain rubber. I couldn't do that here in NJ

Just rubber soles, gotta be very careful on those rocks for sure, they are slippery.

What size daiwa bg were you using?

I think I was using the 4000 which would work well for albies and schoolie stripers. Unfortunately I no longer have the reel, as it finally succumbed to saltwater after a couple seasons of hard use.

Hey Tommy! No it was not near Ptown. The albies usually stick in Vineyard Sound, Nantucket Sound or Buzzard's Bay. If you'd like more advice, then hit me up at ryan@myfishingcapecod.com ✌🏻
