If one good thing comes from my business law class it will be this channel. So entertaining, well thought out, and informative. Thank you for all the hard work making this.
I never understood why Crash Course sometimes resorted to cheap referential humour (ie. that guy whose name I don't remember from the Jersey Shore popping up briefly upon the mention of New Jersey) until we watched this episode today in world history. I understand that most high schoolers aren't interested in history, but that pop culture stuff is what caught their attention. So I understand now. Thank you for making Crash Course enjoyable for everyone, not just the nerds who are unironically interested, but the apathetic kids as well to the extent that maybe they'll remember the lesson more than if it was read from a humourless textbook. No one but me laughed at the foreshadowing filter though and that I'll never understand.
John Green, your liberal bias is showing. A "right" isn't something that the government provides to you for free. It's simply anything that the government cannot deny you from having. So no, the government doesn't have to buy you a gun. It also cannot deny you the right to buy and own one.
+The Royal Gamer I just posted about that, but figured someone must have noticed. I scrolled down and here you are. Now I have made a redundant comment :-/ good eye!
Really wishing this series had been made post-Hamilton because john could make ALL the references and we could all RISE UP and remember that Hamilton wrote THE OTHER 51 federalist papers and that Hamilton may have been the first one to die, but Burr's the one who paid for it. I hope you're satisfied. Also HISTORY QUESTION: did burr actually feel bad for shooting Hamilton or is that something Lin Manuel-Miranda took creative liberty on?
Well he probably regretted it, if not for emotional reasons then for social and political reasons. His life was a complete wreck after he shot Alexander Hamilton. He went from being extremely wealthy to poor, had no further political future, was tried for treason after he tried to take over mexico and was accused of trying to plot the secession of the western states, his only child and only grandson both died (well, Theodosia disappeared). Alexander Hamiltons life is certainly remarkable, but I recommend you read up on Aaron burr and Theodosia burr Alston, his daughter (well if you've listened to Hamilton you know that lol) they were both so ahead of their time
SnickersFantasy that's definitely possible, but we have no way of knowing if Burr truly regretted it for emotional reasons--we can't go back in time or in his mind, sadly lol. And the political shunning led to social isolation that became very lonely.
There's evidence that he regretted it and evidence that he didn't. He definitely at least regretted it for political reasons. 'The World Was Wide Enough' comes from an actual Burr quote; 'Had I read Sterne more and Voltaire less, I should have known the world was wide enough for Hamilton and me.' However, his intentions here are murky. Due to the texts he's referring too, he's still slyly insulting Hamilton? The dude did a lot of crazy things after Hamilton's death and he really did lose everything. It's hard not to wonder if maybe he lost his mind a little too. Possibly even he couldn't give you a straight answer. (Who am I kidding, it's Burr, his answers were about as straight as John Laurens.) One interesting titbit is that after Hamilton's death, Burr was seen stroking the face of a statue of Hamilton and he said to it 'there was the poetry.'
Ariana Tolbert Aaron Burr did not regret shooting Hamilton emotionally. His regret was how it ruined his political career. In the Musical, we are looking at it through Aaron Burr's eyes during the song "The World Was Wide Enough" in a past tense. So, in the Musical it might seem emotional, but it was only because it impacted his life and reputation greatly. Fun Fact: Alexander Hamilton Jr. (Alexander Hamilton's second son) was the lawyer for Aaron Burr's second wife when she wanted a divorce from Burr.
"A little rebellion now and then is a good thing..." -Jefferson Not very surprising. XDD Who else only watched this video just hear "Alexander Hamilton"?
Agreed, but in the technological department we would get our asses kicked! I support civilian ownership of all guns, including AR-15s (and hopefully laser weaponry one day). While not fully-automatic, AR-15s are just as good as full-auto M4s in most respects, but that is meaningless when the USAF can blow up your house with an Apache, AC-130, or Predator drone! In colonial times wealthy men could (and did) own and operate large ships, and put cannons on them, effectively making war ships, but today you don't really see the wealthy spending money on aircraft carriers, submarines, or offensive airplanes. On the other hand, don't underestimate the ability of insurgent guerrilla fighters to dissuade/repel more sophisticated forces (Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc.). Let's be real though. tyranny won't come in the form of military/police busting down your door, but rather more and more regulations and laws. The way to win that battle is smart lobbying, but seeing as you have the NRA logo as your profile pic it seems you already have that figured out. To everyone, if you support private gun ownership, even if you don't own one yourself, please join the NRA.
Well, though there are a few good reasons to having military weapon, don't forget that there are people out there that will use those weapons for terrible things. It'd practically be anarchy with not a lot that our military would be able to do if there are racial mass murders, school shootings, office shootings, even bombings. All of these would be easier to achieve if the government passes a law for the selling of military weapons (including laser weaponry), because lets be honest, if you want a gun that shoots lasers, you'll probably get tired of keeping it in your attic, above your fireplace, or hunting game. Though i am against large weaponry, i still do agree that we should SOME way of defending ourselves against disasters or tragedies which is what we already have I'm pretty sure.
I need to say I am impressed by how you do not pass out trying to tell us everything in one breath... You speak so freaking fast!! But, Dear John, I love your videos.
I feel like "Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, wrote a series of 85 essays that are together known as The Federalist Papers" could have been "Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay (but mostly Alexander Hamilton)"
I had to watch this video for my Intro to Political Science class. I love the way he uses humor it really makes you pay attention and makes learning this information fun! Great video!
People will often say the Federalists won and the Anti-Federalists lost, but that is really not true. Ultimately it was a compromise that won, if it weren't for the Anti-Feds we would not have the Bill of rights and so ultimately the anti-feds are just as important.
***** man ive only read the constitution in its entirety in one reading twice and i know this, so who are these clowns who havent read it in its entirety at least twice?
Thindorama True, but the Supremacy Clause can override that, and that ability has been abused by the central government, mainly the Executive branch. They've stripped states from most of their rights.
No the supremacy clause cannot override an Amendment. The point of an amendment is to amend and so if the Supremacy clause and the 10th Amendment come in conflict the 10th Amendment takes precedence.
My teacher sucks. He has us do busy work all day, and springs tests on us like, "Guys there's a test tomorrow so do your 50 page chapter outlines to study for it." So I resorted to the faithful and diligent John Green. I'll let you know if I ace my Constitution test Mr. Green.

Kavisha Chandraratne im not much of a fan of musicals... and i've seen parts of it and it doesn't appeal all that much to me. I do really like the emphasis on Alexander Hamilton's beliefs on freedom and liberty though
@@bryanjr5745 i hope you also liked the emphasis on how much of an idiot he was
its... kinda good?
“The senate was created to never pass anything”
*LMAO* 😂🤣
banking on this eleven year old video series to get me through the history placement test and get me out of taking us history at my university

I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory
If I see it coming, do I run or do I let it be?

ME 😂
Anytime I hear "Hamilton" I feel a rush of happiness surging within me.
I would never challenge John to a staring contest. Its obvious that im gonna lose... XD
Yeah.... So true. Also don't EVER challenge John Green to a breath-holding contest. His lung capacity is HUGE! Like, he never paused ONCE in a 13:03 video. AMAZING.
oh yeah yeah me niether
Love your channel. Not only do you do a good job conveying the content, but you do an even better job at using good cutaways and popup flash animations to make it actually entertaining. I actually laughed out loud at the rich people doing something comment and skrillex in the background. Great job
Thank you, John. I have an LEQ in an hour and I don’t know what I’d be doing without this video
Hamilton wanting a life term lmao
Friday is the AP exam... This sucks. Who's here CRAMMING and spending hours and hours of your life in an endeavor you won't even remember in five years? Good luck.
heheh.. me too my dude. good luck for tmrw
Damn I wish us all luck.
Taking it in an hour and a half!!! Go crazy stupid
Soo how did it go
@@alyssaguess how did it go
If one good thing comes from my business law class it will be this channel. So entertaining, well thought out, and informative. Thank you for all the hard work making this.
what is Skrillex doing there at 4:42?
Azzex that’s weird. I thought ONLY delegates and founding fathers signed it.
real question is WHY ARE THE SUBTITLES LIKE 4 ROWS LONG ITS COVERING THE SCREEN GODDAMNIT
Too damn goood
5:09 "more than half had an education"
*my dude,thats half right there*
John Green, your liberal bias is showing. A "right" isn't something that the government provides to you for free. It's simply anything that the government cannot deny you from having.
So no, the government doesn't have to buy you a gun. It also cannot deny you the right to buy and own one.
+LEDN42 Does this also apply to drones and nukes?
Ethan Davidson
Right, because a nuke is so similar a weapon to a gun. And people can already own drones.
+LEDN42 is a pistol like a bazooka?
Peter Thorn
Not really, but I fail to see the point.
+LEDN42 muricans according to that law should be as well armed as the gov. That implies access to nukes, predator drones, napalm, etc.
Everyone is talking about AP exams and im over here trying to pass 8th grade
update: i failed the test
Bruh how did you fail 8th grade US history?
JayThePsychoi omg no! i have mine tomorrow
lol I'm sorry.
What an idiot

4:43 what's Skrillex doing there?
+The Royal Gamer I just posted about that, but figured someone must have noticed. I scrolled down and here you are. Now I have made a redundant comment :-/ good eye!
Zynk I had the same thought lol
I thought the chalkboard said “We Be People” at first..

10:00 "John Jay got sick after writing five, James Madison wrote 29, Hamilton wrote THE OTHER FIFTY-ONE!!!!!!!!"
How do you write like your running out of time...
Writing at night like your running out of time...
Omllll I just screamed that lollll
ALL THE COMMENTS ARE ABOUT HAMILTON AND IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY
+One Minute History where can i watch hamilton if it is not on display in theates ofmy country?
I love this too. I came here to learn for my test coming up, but as soon as john said Alexander...
I don't have an AP class nor do I have an APUSH exam, this is literally just my textbook for American History
POV: your AP exam is in 24 min and you are last minute studying
At 0:01 did Washington just stick out his tongue.
(Who am I kidding, it's Burr, his answers were about as straight as John Laurens.)
One interesting titbit is that after Hamilton's death, Burr was seen stroking the face of a statue of Hamilton and he said to it 'there was the poetry.'
Well he did come towards me after he had shot me. But his second told him to go.

Not very surprising. XDD
Who else only watched this video just hear "Alexander Hamilton"?
You don’t even know what Conservatism is, lol.
Anyone here last day for the 2020 APUSH DBQ?
@Allison Lundberg yes
Of course, Skrillex was a delegate. Why not? XD
I almost thought I was the only one who saw that! 4:42
4:51 Is that aLExaNDer HAmiLTon i see doing the wave?
All these years later I can come back to this video and it is still awesome and educational. Timeless.
what’s ur name man?
ALEXANDER HAMILTON
As advances in guns increase, the people should be able to have access to similar military firearms. For my safety from tyranny.
To everyone, if you support private gun ownership, even if you don't own one yourself, please join the NRA.
departed402 sooooo, does that mean that i get to drive an Abrams Tank to school on the first day? or do i get to fly reaper drones for fun at home?
Could you afford either of those things? Are you some sort of teenage Dan Bilzerian?
no no no, its a right, Mr Obama and congress should write me a check:)
I don't even have a test or anything, I just thoroughly enjoy these videos
"That government is best which governs least." -Henry David Thoreau
I need to say I am impressed by how you do not pass out trying to tell us everything in one breath... You speak so freaking fast!! But, Dear John, I love your videos.
John jay got sick after writing 5. James Madison wrote 29. HAMILTON WROTE THE OTHER 51!
Kimmy Coke why are you writing like you're running out of time?
I honestly learn more from your videos than I do from my college professor.
I feel like "Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, wrote a series of 85 essays that are together known as The Federalist Papers" could have been "Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay (but mostly Alexander Hamilton)"
josie o lol
I had to watch this video for my Intro to Political Science class. I love the way he uses humor it really makes you pay attention and makes learning this information fun! Great video!
People will often say the Federalists won and the Anti-Federalists lost, but that is really not true. Ultimately it was a compromise that won, if it weren't for the Anti-Feds we would not have the Bill of rights and so ultimately the anti-feds are just as important.
***** and the fact that the ninth and tenth amendments exist is a testimony to that
Thindorama Yes exactly but that is generally ignored today.
9:59 How do you write like your running out of time
Did anyone else see Skrillex at around 4:40???
i did
Same i was like wha? He's a president
Oh yeah!!! Skrillex! :D
did you understand him?
Edmund A. i was about to comment that
My teacher sucks. He has us do busy work all day, and springs tests on us like, "Guys there's a test tomorrow so do your 50 page chapter outlines to study for it." So I resorted to the faithful and diligent John Green. I'll let you know if I ace my Constitution test Mr. Green.
