Without a doubt one of the best musical/dance scenes in movie history. I saw this over 30 years ago as a boy and it left a strong impression on me. Brilliant.
Six Gun Shauna no he did his own stunts,as a matter of fact the scene after Minney the moocher when they come out from being introduced, he did yet another flip this time breaking his ancle. However he still went on to perform the scene . if you watch it again you will notice he favours the broken ancle and let's Elwood do most of the dancing :)
Man... this is a whole other level of Praise. This is major league spiritual combat stuff, this is like bringing a minigun to a knife fight against the darkness. Too overwhelming...AMEN.
The Choir in back of him Are The Southern California Community Choir, who worked with The Late Reverend James Cleveland who worked with Aretha Franklin when she did her Gospel Album in the 1970's. The Man who introduced The Reverend Cleophus James was with James Brown from virtually the beginning of his Career and Chaka Khan plays one of The Choir Members.
The greatest movie, in our opinion! We go to our church like this, in our neighborhood here in Oakland, California, every Sunday! Amazing! Long live the memories of John & James! xoxo The Clarences (robert, erin & leslie)
I love how Elwood politely dances into the middle of the fray, does his thing and then respectfully dances back out to Jake, who is also respectfully doing his own dance on the outside. lol This whole scene is off the chain.
This is the type of church I would be faithful going to every Sunday. The current church I go to is only good at putting me to sleep. It's been a while since going because my attention span can only last until the horrible singing is over. I can admit that I can not sing either, but you don't see me up in the chair doing a music number.
some folks - or maybe all - might come away from a church day like this saying that they felt the power of god. whether it's god, music, both or neither, it's GOOD! DAMN GOOD! :))
well mister thunderdog7311.....I DO BELIEVE YOU HAVE TOUCHED ON A VERY BEAUTIFUL AND WONDEROUS IDEA......MAKE YOUR CHURCH LIKE THIS! do you see the light mister thunderdog7311? I SAY........ do you see the light thunderdog7311?? make your church like this. yeeeeasss!! I do believe I have finished speaking thunderdog7311. yessir. thank you. (hugs)
Is it crazy that I routinely search for this video just to hear the beloved Rev Cleotus James' sermon? I stick around for the song, but it's really about the "jangle jangle" and the "tooooo laaaate" for me.
Razonamiento cero . 😍😍😍😍😍 . Que nadie les quite la alegría nunca !!!
According to James Brown, John Belushi was a brilliant dancer who did his own back flips during this scene. What a great comedian the otherJB was, and what a stupid waste of a talent.
The church shown on the outside is across the street from my former Catholic church--Our Lady of Guadaloupe--on 91st Street in South Chicago, my old neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. Chaka Khan is in the choir.
I was feeling it I had the holy ghost when I watch it got up and jumping my old church was kinda like that had big moma jumping back in those days now some churches now I can't feel it
"Jesus H tap dancing Christ, yes, I have seen the light!!"
Classic lines all, just like FMJ.
This scene is Brilliant. I love the Blues Brothers!! :-D
Without a doubt one of the best musical/dance scenes in movie history. I saw this over 30 years ago as a boy and it left a strong impression on me. Brilliant.
OMG! This scene/movie STILL cracks me up after all these years.
RIP John, James, & Ray.
I am an Apostolic Pentecostal, and we praise just like this, sometimes even more joyful and indescribable!
It's a Christmas tradition for my family and I to watch this every Christmas morning. A holiday morning well spent, in my opinion.
This church rocks like my church! Pure Joy! Glory to God!
Only John Belushi could keep his hat and shades on after doing 13 somersaults and a cartwheel.
That stunt double for John B is Magician illusionist john pendragon. Search the pendragons their amazing
+lkgrave (That was a stunt double)
Six Gun Shauna no he did his own stunts,as a matter of fact the scene after Minney the moocher when they come out from being introduced, he did yet another flip this time breaking his ancle. However he still went on to perform the scene . if you watch it again you will notice he favours the broken ancle and let's Elwood do most of the dancing :)
I remember reading that John did all his own stunts, except the back flips in the church.
The backflips were performed by master magician Jonathan Pendragon one of the greatest magicians of all time
It brings a tear to my eye I wish Pretty much all churches were like this.
Joe Swanson lol
Danny Caracciolo A-MEN
Danny Caracciolo I'm an atheist but that comment gets a 'PRAISE THE LOOOOORD' from me
I would genuinely love to go to a church like this! I love the blues brothers man! My all-time favourite film of all time!
"Toooooooo laaaaaaaate yeah." Nobody can say it better than Mr. Brown.
James Brown as a preacher: ideal casting.
James Brown has the moves. Moon walk not Michael Jackson but the god father of soul.!!
I SEE THE LIGHT!!!! Classic man, just classic!!!
When my friends ask me what it's like to go to church, I tell them that it's exactly like this. :)
+Goldberg1337 I went to a church like this once, loved, every, second. Especially since it matches my energy level.
+Sam Peterson Try going to an English one
a slight exaggeration
Not mine, I'm white.
Six Gun Shauna find a church like this one we'll welcome you
Man... this is a whole other level of Praise. This is major league spiritual combat stuff, this is like bringing a minigun to a knife fight against the darkness. Too overwhelming...AMEN.
Classic Scene. Still great no matter how many times ya see it....
How could 91 idiots not have liked this. The best gospel line up Ever. I would become a Christian if Church could be like this. Strength Brothers.
And Aretha did the song Old Landmark with them too.
The greatest movie, in our opinion!
We go to our church like this, in our neighborhood here in Oakland, California, every Sunday! Amazing!

Rest Easy Cousin James Brown. You’ll always be remembered for what you did #Original HomeTown Barnwell Sc
If church was like this everybody would go..
..james was a good preacher..
..too late!
straight to the hot place. James Brown was no saint when he was alive, made a poor choice to be a minister in this movie.
The somersaults at the end are the icing.
You can't help but move as the fervour rises...great scene.
What a fantastic scene! Loved this! THANKS! (y)
lol...The Blues Brothers are currently the screen saver on my cell phone.
Nobody can sit still when the Godfather puts it on ya!
We got to see him live at the Solano county fair. One of his last shows,…epic
I don't care how many Hi-Def screens and former rock band members my church uses, it can't top THIS.
If church services were held like this, I would go more often.
Damn, son, that's how Jesus MEANT church to be -- GLAWREH!
MrJohnnyJohnster HALLELUJAH!!!
If church was like this, I'd move in!
I can't say it strong enough, I love this song. And the movie. im in tears.
I said "WHEN I WOKE UP THIS MORNING". I love that.
This is the type of church I would be faithful going to every Sunday. The current church I go to is only good at putting me to sleep. It's been a while since going because my attention span can only last until the horrible singing is over. I can admit that I can not sing either, but you don't see me up in the chair doing a music number.
If you have some spare time, search Todd White testimony. Let me know what you think of that preaching!
That church is a dream that can be real through your eyes and the LORDS!!! Baby hell yeah
my childhood..r ight here... everyday. together with the movie Hair and cocktail and allot more.
This is still the best thing ever
I just love the Finnish subtitles attached to this clip. They're just the coolest!
Kautta steppaavan Jessen!
Being from here, I can say this movie wonderfully focuses in on so many aspects of culture in Chicago
I would go to church if it was like this
Adriane Miles Go to a black church
+DrummaMike Dw go to a pentecostal apostalic church :) holy ghost and the name of Jesus
such a powerful song, from the piano to Brown's delivery especially that rapid fire "hit me" early in the track. great fast paced track.
I haven't seen a movie with that ensemble of talent since...1980
Chaka Khan....love it!
James Brown and a young Chaka Khan!!!
I had a white Lutheran friend, but she liked going to a baptist Church for the music.
This is some serious church'in. Where is this church! Every Sunday I'll be there.
some folks - or maybe all - might come away from a church day like this saying that they felt the power of god.
whether it's god, music, both or neither, it's GOOD! DAMN GOOD! :))
I would love to attend this church.
Man why cant my church be like this

Josh Lopez Go to a black church
You better ask for a guy named Varg Vikernes, he would solve any Church-concerning problem in a few minutes 😅
I love the hallelujah sound bite at the back of the “do you see light scene” ❤️
I like that James Brown got to get his praise on at the end LOL
this scene is godlike
this is my favorite part of the movie
Trampolines and James Brown make every church better.
So good, the James Brown as a priest, such a joy.
Alvin Ailey dancers are fantastic in this scene!
JAke, you need some churchin' up, slide on down to the Triple Rock.....
every time I see this scene I laugh
Never seen a cooler preacher dance in a robe than James Brown!
THE BANDDD
Screaming for vengeance.
"EL WOOD! THE BAND!"
So weird to see this movie with Finnish subtitles! 😂💪🏻🇫🇮
Is it crazy that I routinely search for this video just to hear the beloved Rev Cleotus James' sermon? I stick around for the song, but it's really about the "jangle jangle" and the "tooooo laaaate" for me.
THIS IS SOME SERIOUS PRAISE BREAKS WITH THE GODFATHER OF SOUL AND THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY CHOIR.
De donde se deduce que los que animaban las fiestas en Roma eran los esclavos negros tratados mejor que ahora a la población mundial y raptados y encadenados por los árabes . Nineteen people haven't seen the light
sadily 20 chose to stray from the light
27 now
Bullitt3401 31 people arent worthy enough to be in the band
Rest in Soul Heaven, James Brown and John Belushi.
2 people are jingle jangling lost souls!
James Brown!!! No one else could do it like him.
I don't mess with church. I cannot even lie about that. However, some of the best concerts are in church.
Time for some churchin' up!
Good old Glide church, in San Francisco.
I wish my church was like this
Kyllä kautta steppaavan jeesuksen!
my favorite thing about this scene is that it's barely an exaggeration of how Black churches work
I am still hearing "The Jingle Jangle" of hundreds of lost souls.
5:02
I want that as a gif
According to James Brown, John Belushi was a brilliant dancer who did his own
back flips during this scene.
What a great comedian the otherJB was, and what a stupid waste of a talent.
This movie never gets enough love
"The band!"
One of my favorite parts of the movie.
Yeah! Its F-ing TRIPLE ROCK!
Rush - Beneath , between , and behind ..... saaaaaaaaaay whaaaaaaat 😂😂
This is probably my favorite movie scene ever!
The Choir Director in the Church Scene, Alonzo Atkins passed away today! RIH Lonzo! Please pray for his family!
god's a black bassist in a church like this
I like Gospel style music, even though I don't believe. This is a great scene. Even JB kicks his feet a bit.
thanks for posting this - no annoying dubbing (never understood their logic, particularly when songs are not)
Amazing. I actually understood James Brown this time
A picture of the road home...AMEN
Let the Church say Amen!!!!!!
The church shown on the outside is across the street from my former Catholic church--Our Lady of Guadaloupe--on 91st Street in South Chicago, my old neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. Chaka Khan is in the choir.
Dancing through the Holy Spirit.... Amen
There is no replacing the Original BLUES BROTHERS!!!
